Gorgeous venue to attend, HOWEVER…read more.. the rain setting (indoor) ceremony only had about 20-30 seats. Many guests were forced upstairs without a view of the bride and groom. Bridal party had to balance on the stairs for the ceremony. Truly a shame that about half the guests had to stand, had a limited or no view of the ceremony. The bathroom is also weird. Same bathroom for men and woman. Woman's stall had a full door but the men's had a salon style door that did not close and had no privacy. Not everyone is comfortable with that. I'd love to attend an outdoor ceremony, but the weather is unpredictable. It may be beneficial if there was a large white event tent that can be used for the rain and other outdoor events.

The location is…read morepretty, with cute country decor and a nice outdoor ceremony site, a nice rear deck for cocktail hour, and a two level interior for the reception. Down a flight of stairs is a small lounge with a pool table, where they also had a photo booth set up. One special feature here was that the bride arrived at the ceremony in a beautiful white horse-drawn carriage provided by the farm. It was a really nice touch. Post ceremony, the carriage reappeared to take the bride and groom away for photos during cocktail hour. Another shining point was the food. On-site smoked meats... Wow. The chicken and roast beef were particular amazing. Not just good, but excellent. All of the sides were also tasty, and the dessert spread was pretty impressive as well. A few downsides: there is no AC in the main part of the barn, only in the bedroom suite areas for the wedding party prep. This was a September wedding, but happened to fall on a day with near-record high temps, so even with fans running, we were all pretty uncomfortable until the sun finally went down. Also, there was no sign of a full bar on the premises, nor fountain soda or beer on tap. Bottles only. But, considering that Henry Hill Farm is new on the wedding scene, maybe they plan on making these upgrades at a later date. Overall, this is a very nice venue on pretty grounds with very friendly staff, excellent service, amazing meats, and a fun country vibe. Tip for the ladies: opt for flats, wedges, or block heals... but leave the stilettos at home. The walkway from the parking lot and areas around the barn are gravel, which isn't so stiletto-friendly.

Accommodations: The aesthetics look nice from the outside but the rooms are not that nice and the walls are extremely thin so we heard every single word and noise from every room in the lodge. We also had to go down two flights of stairs into a he basement/dog training room to our bathroom, which didn't have hot water and smelled like pet urine. The host, Monique, is incredibly rude. She was entertaining personal friends in the common area of the lodge for both of the nights we were there. Her group took over the whole space, even though Monique's house is 50 yards away, and was drinking and partying well into the morning hours. It made us extremely uncomfortable to even try to go to the bathroom. Neither one of us, nor the other guests that weekend, got much sleep since they were so loud and the walls/doors are so incredibly thin. Monique is rude on every level. She criticized us for our dog's tail being cropped (was done long before we got her so it was far outside of our control) and was just condescending and disrespectful in general for the whole time we were there. The icing on the cake is that we forgot a new pair of pretty expensive glasses there. My wife called/texted Monique and she acknowledged that her husband had found them under the bed of the room we stayed in. She said she would send them to us (my wife even offered to pay for the shipping) but they never came. After a few weeks we both tried calling and sent several texts (one just pleading for a response) but she never once replied. Needless to say, we paid almost $500 for two nights there and are extremely disappointed with the service and how loud and uncomfortable the stay was. I grew up one town over from where Lodge Solange and my sincerest advice to anyone considering this place is to just keep looking. There are many much better and nicer / places and people in the Mohawk Valley.

Parking was an easy relatively short walk away from the main stage. If you need a more accessible option, there is a lot that is closer as well as crew providing rides with several golf carts. Once you are at the main building, the restrooms and other areas of interest are all within sight. If you are not familiar with this venue - take their suggestion to dress for the weather seriously! It's "open air" but not really. There are walls that open up around the venue, but for what I'm assuming would be lighting purposes and maybe sound integrity, are closed during the actual show (at least this particular show I went to). There are not unlimited shady spots, so if you're sensitive to heat, you may want to ensure that you arrive quite early (at least an hour) to get your pick if you are planning to hang out on campus for a bit before the show. I would strongly recommend bringing a water bottle with ice on a hot day. They let you bring in your own, definitely take advantage of that. I was thankful to have plenty of cold water to sip during the show; it can get a little stuffy in the venue with the walls are closed up and it's filled with patrons. Quality of the show was top notch. I believe our tickets were around $80 each, and we had a seat on the far side of the orchestra section. Even being almost as far to the side as one could be, I had no issues seeing what was going on peripherally and there was nothing to block my direct view. This is to say, I think there's probably not a bad seat in the house. The performers were excellent. I'd never seen this particular show, and I'm so glad I can now say that I have. I would have gladly paid double for the value of this experience. Bottom line: Great venue, great experience, will definitely be back. If you're especially heat sensitive - you might struggle a little bit - bring lots of water, consider buying seats closer to the back (at the back of the orchestra I spotted a large industrial fan), and/or bring a fan of some sort.
