Although this year (2015) was only its third, the nascent festival surpassed all expectations. I am a huge country music fan (Tennessee born and bred) and went this year for the first time, along with my husband and 24 yo niece. We rented an RV (another first) and drove from Maryland to Hunter Mountain, NY. From the word go, the entire experience was amazing. We purchased Outlaw VIP tix with Premium RV camping, which allowed us to stay on site in our RV. The Outlaw tix gave us front row access to the stage for all shows, access to the VIP tents, etc. My husband and I made some amazing friends while hanging out in the VIP tents and will be meeting up with them again at the festival next year. Our niece loved the front row access to the concerts, but also liked that she could escape the sun, grab some food and drinks in the tents, and watch the show with us every so often. The food vendors were great, especially those from local businesses. Festival staff were amazing. HUGE kudos to those that produce this festival. Specifically, I would like to thank Steve, Paul, Kaitie, Pam, Jess and all the others such as the VIP tent servers (tent 2) that made this experience absolutely fabulous. We even purchased our tickets for next year before we left. In talking with my husband, we agree that this festival/trip rates as one of our all-time top vacations, which says it all considering we have traveled the globe extensively. The relaxed atmosphere, great music, good food, and super service resulted in a truly stress-free escape that we really needed. I have only one suggestion for next year: availability of water bottles and soda bottles in the VIP tents all three days would be super. They were available on the third day, which was great, and would love that availability throughout the festival.

The festival was 5 blocks long with over 60 tents set up by vendors. In addition to various craft cheeses there were condiments, baked goods, dairy products, wines, and some talented musical performers spread out over the blocks. Little Falls was once known as the Cheese Capital of the entire USA. The Little Falls Historical Society has outlined in the festival brochure a 3 stage Cheese History Trail that you can walk as you learn all about Little Falls' contribution to cheese making and its influence on the cost of cheese even as far away as Europe. I suggest you bring along a cooler with an ice pack or two to transport your purchases. The purchase opportunities here are delicious. Tip: Keep your brochure so you can remember to always look up these vendors to visit again as you travel throughout the Hudson/Mohawk valley, the Catskills, the Adirondacks, the Finger Lakes and the Southern Tier.

We arrived on Wednesday and got our place at the main stage. People must get there very early because at 3 pm, we were behind the sound stage. We parked at the Car Corral, and the shuttles were pretty much a waste of time. One day the driver drove past the entrance and had to turn around and then wanted to drop us off at the entrance, which was maybe 50 yards from where we parked. She had no idea where she was going and shouldn't have been driving the bus. Everything is walkable and the time between shows is perfect. There were plenty of food vendors, and probably the cleanest port o John's I have ever encountered at a festival. The shaded tents were awesome!!!! Lots of good music and discovered new talent. Slightly disappointed with the price we paid that there weren't bigger acts for the main stage.

Customer Service: I called to speak to a representative on a situation that needed attention for…read morelocating a person that had a very important item accidently on them after staying at my house the day before gates opened to campers. The item contained all important documents (license, medical cards, bank card and credit cards, my only set of car keys and over $300 plus more. I needed all of these items to do an emergency drive of 2 hours away to deal with my 92 year old mom dealing with a medical issue. I called once to ask for help. I was told "security" would locate the person after giving information on how to find the person. Two hours later, I did not receive a phone call back with any update. I texted, and received no response. I called again, and the same representative developed an attitude. (I know the area well as I live 10 miles away.). I said that I guess I would have to call the local police, and the representative got "snarky", and hung up on me. I was stranded. I was not able to get to my mom that has the medical issue in time. I called the local police department which I am familiar with as my neighbor used to work for them. Within 45 minutes, the "very polite policeman" found my friend, and my friend was able to search for my belongings! Unfortunately, it was too late for me to get to my mom and deal with the medical issue in time as she lives 70 miles away. It took 5 hours to fix this situation. I felt demoralized and pushed aside. This is a concern. What if a worse emergency was occurring and someone had to be found at the festival. There needs to be some mechanism for emergencies to be addressed. The festival itself is excellent. Customer representative in handling an important issue is not. I am appalled!!!

There were definitely a wide range of different artisan crafts and goodies! Ranging from homemade soaps and scents to special meat scrubs, we got to try out a plethora of novel things! Ticket at the gate was $25 but we got our tickets through Groupon for only $23 for the 2 of us which was a really sweet deal for this particular event from 11am-6pm. There were tons of tasting from wineries, distilleries, breweries, cideries but didn't quite balance well with the paucity of food vendors. Luckily there were food trucks around so you could grab a bite to eat, listen to the live band, go pets some goats at the petting zoo and then go back to for more drink tastings. Overall, Columbia County Fairgrounds is a terrific venue to host this type of event and was worth it for the drinks, entertainment, and free souvenir wine glasses.

Three blocks of Main Street were closed off, between the iconic Hall of Fame and Chestnut street, making for plenty of room to peruse the tents. The precipitation kept most people seeking shelter by hopping from tent to tent, leaving some of the smaller vendors on the sidewalk out to dry (pun intended) but you certainly can't fault the organizers for mother nature's temper. They had "nine innings of food & beer," providing samples from, you guessed it, nine different restaurants, each paired with a taste of some suds. Tickets were an attractive $20, but we ended up eating in one of the Main Street restaurants, because unfortunately, they didn't have that tasting set to kick off until 2pm. All in all, a good time - I hope they continue this tradition so next time I'm planning to head up to see the new HOF inductees, I can add this to the list of to-do's :)

We made it a meal and upgraded to mac n cheese, drink and slice pie of choice( apple or strawberry rhubarb). The food was surprisingly good, my husband enjoyed his sandwich and my pot roast was flavorful before I put the horseradish on it. The Mac n cheese was good, made with their Mill-Aged, Extra-Sharp NYS Cheddar. Overall it was a decent find, not too much in the area. The store is worth it to stop in.

If everything was awesome just give it a 5. Those 4s add up and I feel like people that use Yelp are always looking for the great reviews. You get a 5 and 4 from two people that love something. My wife bought a beautiful pair of mittens from a local woman who knits the from yarn from the wool of her own sheep. The mill is amazing to see in operation. You can see the water wheel running, watch volunteers run a shingle mill, and see an incredible variety of old tools and machines. For their festival they even had free tastings of local Ommegang beer. I could have spent an entire day at this small but impressive museum.

This is an interesting outdoor place to come and visit. Words cannot describe the gentlemen…read morespending 40 years to complete this. You have to come and see for yourself the hours of shaping stones with hand tools to be an outdoor art piece that is beautiful to see, walk around to enjoy. There are park benches around where you can sit and enjoy a snack and take in all the different levels of this outdoor artwork. The entry to the park includes a road that you have to share with in/out traffic. Drive slowly and turn out if needed to let the other traffic pass. Be patient and you will enjoy the beautiful outdoors. Cost: $11 online. In person is $1 extra Tip: 1) Purchase tickets online. As we were leaving there was a sign that said park at full capacity and only those with pre-purchased tickets were allowed into the park. 2) Main parking lot can get full fast. It wasn't until after we parked and went to the ticketing office there was a sign for overflow parking. 3) I did not see a bathroom anywhere, so plan accordingly.
