The open fields are a welcome change from being indoors, and you can pick whatever fruits you like. The farm leaves quart containers out on a stand for you to pick up and use while picking fruit, and you just drive to the fields. Then you bring the containers to the register with what you picked. They offer a reasonable price for fresh fruit. It's fun, relaxing, and great for all ages.

A few jokes from the ticket-taker as well. Tip: try and grab the seats toward the back, to keep your neck more comfortable. The Old Stone Fort in Schoharie, NY is one of those places that quietly draws you in with how much…read morehistory it holds. At first glance, it looks like a simple old church, but once you step inside, you realize you're standing somewhere that has witnessed more than 200 years of stories. Built in the 1770s as a German Reformed Church, it was later fortified and turned into a defensive stronghold during the Revolutionary War. You can still spot a cannonball hole in the wall a little visual reminder of how real that history was. The museum complex is spread out beautifully, with several old buildings and scenic grounds that make it easy to wander around at your own pace. Each building feels like a glimpse into a different part of Schoharie's past from farming and school life to vintage machinery and military history. The volunteers here really add to the experience they're kind, knowledgeable, and genuinely passionate about the history they're sharing. It's the kind of museum that doesn't feel overly polished, but that's exactly what makes it charming. You can sense the age of the wood floors and the craftsmanship in every display. It's quiet, peaceful, and even a little haunting in the best way, especially if you walk through the small cemetery nearby. If you enjoy exploring local history or hidden gems off the main tourist path, the Old Stone Fort is definitely worth a visit. It doesn't take long to go through, but you'll likely leave thinking about how much life and resilience are preserved in those old stone walls.

Gorgeous venue to attend, HOWEVER…read more.. the rain setting (indoor) ceremony only had about 20-30 seats. Many guests were forced upstairs without a view of the bride and groom. Bridal party had to balance on the stairs for the ceremony. Truly a shame that about half the guests had to stand, had a limited or no view of the ceremony. The bathroom is also weird. Same bathroom for men and woman. Woman's stall had a full door but the men's had a salon style door that did not close and had no privacy. Not everyone is comfortable with that. I'd love to attend an outdoor ceremony, but the weather is unpredictable. It may be beneficial if there was a large white event tent that can be used for the rain and other outdoor events.

The location is…read morepretty, with cute country decor and a nice outdoor ceremony site, a nice rear deck for cocktail hour, and a two level interior for the reception. Down a flight of stairs is a small lounge with a pool table, where they also had a photo booth set up. One special feature here was that the bride arrived at the ceremony in a beautiful white horse-drawn carriage provided by the farm. It was a really nice touch. Post ceremony, the carriage reappeared to take the bride and groom away for photos during cocktail hour. Another shining point was the food. On-site smoked meats... Wow. The chicken and roast beef were particular amazing. Not just good, but excellent. All of the sides were also tasty, and the dessert spread was pretty impressive as well. A few downsides: there is no AC in the main part of the barn, only in the bedroom suite areas for the wedding party prep. This was a September wedding, but happened to fall on a day with near-record high temps, so even with fans running, we were all pretty uncomfortable until the sun finally went down. Also, there was no sign of a full bar on the premises, nor fountain soda or beer on tap. Bottles only. But, considering that Henry Hill Farm is new on the wedding scene, maybe they plan on making these upgrades at a later date. Overall, this is a very nice venue on pretty grounds with very friendly staff, excellent service, amazing meats, and a fun country vibe. Tip for the ladies: opt for flats, wedges, or block heals... but leave the stilettos at home. The walkway from the parking lot and areas around the barn are gravel, which isn't so stiletto-friendly.
