Next to the register was a small package wrapped in red & white string, labeled "Bonnie's Uncommon Fruitcake." I've been a sucker for trying fruitcakes ever since I had my first slice of Freihofer's Fruitcake over seventy years ago. Here was a locally baked fruitcake with no difficult to pronounce or preservative ingredients. That definitely made it "Uncommon." Pecans, dates, candied fruit (cherries, pineapple), eggs, sugar, flour, baking powder, and salt. That's it! I thought it tasted delicious. It was not overly sweet, had a good amount of nuts and candied fruit, and there was minimal cake (flour) holding it all together perfectly. I took one bite of their pie's and honestly felt like I was being hugged by a warm cloud that also happens to smell like vanilla and joy. Their treats aren't just "baked goods"--they are hand-crafted miracles sent to grace our tastebuds. This is an incredible tragedy as there was no milk or yogurt or even beef in Willow Marsh when I went. They are creating a petition for their local bank to apply for a loan to buy back their dairy cows. But they need support from the community to convince the bank that they are a good investment. If you read this, please go into Willow Marsh and lend them your support. They have a milk subscription that they are trying to sell, so the bank knows that this is a vital service to our community. Please please help as local farms are becoming more and more rare. This one is owned by a local family and they work super hard to bring these local products to us.

It's the perfect place to bring the kids, have a party and hang out with friends. Justin A. made us feel at home by showing us the endless activities around the farm. They have amazing cider belly donuts (best we've ever had!), cider slushees, beers, sandwiches and kettle corn. The seating areas are comfortably spaced apart for socially distant eating. There are apple cannons, paint balling, zip lining, a corn maze, petting zoo and lots of other activities! The apple cannons were thrilling with large targets and loud booms. The corn maze has a cute game to keep the little ones interested. There's lots of photo ops including a cool pumpkin house. Ultimately we've got three trees from Bob's, and even though two of the trees had issues, the staff have been understanding and reasonable in working with us for a resolution. Bob's has a big stock and variety of trees and plants of various sizes, and the tranquil location makes for a pleasant day trip for a walk amongst potted plants and dug-up trees ready to go. Their brochure is helpful for looking up and browsing an updated selection of available trees for listed prices, and staff have been consistently friendly and helpful, and not surprisingly, very knowledgeable. I would recommend Bob's Trees without hesitation, and I hope they stay open and successful for a very long time.
