I found the whole tour fascinating and interesting, and our guide was great about pointing out historical features. You are rewarded with an amazing waterfall at the end, and can meander back at your own pace. This place is cash only! Also, apparently tours run at the top of the hour. I could not find that information on any website, so be aware of that. Look for the ghosts! I would highly recommend this adventure.

I like to try to do something different for our dates besides dinner. I signed up for the Home Run adventure (Cooperstown) which is a 12 mile round trip bike ride, it goes by the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum. It took about two hours round trip. There's two other shorter rides you can take (I believe 8 miles). It's pedal powered and easy to used, it was a lot different than when we did it years ago. You can reserve a tandem or quad bike. The rail bikes are for all ages and not strenuous. They space you out so you're not on top of each other. It was a beautiful ride with wonderful weather. But I would love to come back for the fall foliage (it's the best in NY). Rail Explorer are now located in seven states and they have two locations in New York (Cooperstown and Catskills). I would definitely add this to your bucket list of summer or fall things to do.

Once we got off the train, a bus took us right to the cruise location and we got our tickets. The cruise left right on time. The captain provided us with some really interesting facts about the area, and not doing much research beforehand on the cruise I was in awe of how beautiful the lakes were that the cruise went through. The mountains in the background everywhere were amazing. There were drinks and some food for sale on the ship, and the prices were pretty reasonable. The whole cruise was very relaxing and informative, if I was in the area again, I would do this cruise a second time. Once we were done, a bus arrived and took us back to the train - super easy.

Had a fabulous time on the 12:15 lunch tour with a group of friends. Annette, the owner was on…read moreboard as well as the Captain (a teacher at Soule Rd School) and an assistant. As we left the dock and headed out into the SENECA River, Annette gave us a history of the Erie ( now called "Barge") canal. Our captain contributed a few stories to make it even more interesting. As we glided down the River on our pontoon boat, we saw sea birds both at the rivers edge and in flight. As we got ready to go through the Baldwinsville lock, the lock tender gave us some info on the equipment. This is the oldest operating lock in the system. After going through the lock, we stopped and picked up lunch from a man working for the Angry Smokehouse. We had a delicious lunch on the return trip. The crew couldn't be more gracious and we had a blast. There is a bar on board the boat, which made trip even better! Check out the website for the list of tours available. Very nice and relaxing Sunset Cruise along Cayuga Lake for a great price. We were about two minutes…read moreaway from when they were going to launch and Captain Chris called to check in if we were on our way before they left without us. Our tour guide was very sweet and made sure we were all comfortable during the two hour ride. They also have Eco tours, which we could definitely tell she was into. A smaller lake close by was closed off completely due to a deadly algae, which she then collected algae from the lake and took the sample under a microscope and invited anyone to come check it out. Her interest made it that much more personable and I enjoyed it. Not the bad algae though, obviously. She even offered to take pictures for us. The sunset was beautiful and on the way back we saw some water falls. Something to consider before booking. The difference between this sunset cruise and the Charter sunset cruise is because it is more private with 6 passengers per tour at a higher rate and starts at 6:30pm-8:30pm with daily cruises available, whereas Ithaca boat tours allows up to 24 people starting at 7:30pm-9:30pm with cruises only on Friday/Saturday. We didn't mind if there was going to be more people on board, but there were only about 8 of us on the boat that night anyway. I also like that it starts at a later time so we could relax and get a nice meal beforehand. I would recommend this tour. Don't forget it's BYOB! Have fun!
