For this year's Father's Day gift Wifey got us a two-night stay here at The Inn at Cooperstown so we could FINALLY get to the Baseball Hall of Fame. It's been a long time since we stayed at a Bed and Breakfast and this place is beautiful. Nice sized room with beautiful decor and very clean. Bathroom was a decent size, but the water pressures the shower could have been stronger for my liking. Plenty of parking at The Inn and one of the great things was that on the day of checkout you can leave your car there and do your thing in Cooperstown. The breakfast here isn't like a restaurant, but there is a nice selection of fruits and bread, a quiche-like baked egg dish, fresh juices, coffee and tea and muffins. It was all quite delicious. One of the things I liked most about the stay was the long row of rocking chairs on the front porch. Sitting there after dinner with Wifey and some good wine was a great way to end the evening. The Inn is pretty pricey, but it's not often we get to do something like this so it was worth it.

We did an Ultimate Baseball Fan package which included some intimate behind the scenes looks with the Hall of Fame. The capper was staying here! According to their site, the package included a two night stay at the Inn. They were originally all booked for the second night...I think due to weather issues (it ended up SNOWING!), many people canceled. So we not only stayed the full time, we added an extra day. I've stayed at one other Inn nearby, and this was bigger and provided about the same level of hospitality. This a town based on just that: hospitality. So the Inn at Cooperstown gets a lot of the little things right. The staff (including the owner) are not afraid to get their hands dirty. There are two flights of stairs to get the very top floor: they're not bad to climb. Also free on site parking. Always a plus. And walkable to the main attraction: the baseball hall of fame! (It's also close to the Otesaga Resort grounds, mere feet from the Lake and a short drive to the Fenimore and Farmers museums...also close to the breweries!) My only gripe was with the breakfast. While the choices were better than just muffins and croissants (though they did have fresh baked muffins EVERY morning!), and the coffee was free flowing and great, I was a bit disappointed in their lack of vegetarian options for the hot meal choice. One morning they only served ham and egg cups. If one is a gluten free vegetarian, you would only be able to indulge in the yogurt and fruit. The other days, they had some Veggie frittatas available, which was good. Just a bit of a disappointment, that's all. A bad breakfast can literally ruin my day, but the hospitality and kindness of the staff allowed me to overlook it mostly. They really put on the dog for those of us staying there for the baseball package. I was impressed! By the way - this is a very old school set up. You are better off calling for reservations than setting up online. Also need to check out the old fashioned way by handing your keys over!

Given the posts here, we clearly experienced a one-off bad experience. While our room was fine (pictures represent the property), the staff was not congenial. Our 9:30 pm arrival was met by a young woman who had maybe had a terrible day. She was disheveled at best. She wasn't friendly and seemed put out that we'd chosen The Inn for our stay. Throughout our three-night stay, we were not once greeted by staff. I asked to borrow a pen and the desk clerk seemed like I had asked him for the world. The place is absolutely idyllic, sans the people. We found the bakery staff down the street and shop owners as well to be welcoming. My husband and I were mildly annoyed with the small shower's curtain which covered the tiny space well but stuck to our bodies while showering.

The Inn is perfect from the minute you get there until the minute you check out! The staff here is great and they do whatever they need to make sure you are taken care of. First class service all the way. The Inn itself is a historic site and so very well kept. Cannot wait to come back.

We've been to Cooperstown many times to visit our son, a brewer at Brewery Ommegang. We decided to go first class this visit, and stayed at the Inn as part of their Bed & Brew package. Very glad we did. The ~140-year old building is in excellent condition, and meticulously maintained. Mrs. I is VERY picky about hotel conditions, and this has to be the first one that ever got the 100% A+ rating, and the "I wouldn't mind living here" comment. Beautifully decorated, clean as can be, and thoroughly modernized in a very inconspicuous manner. Visually, you are living in a different age. The innkeepers, Marc and Sherrie have one goal... 100% customer satisfaction. And for us, they succeeded. The Bed & Brew package is a great deal. Friday evening starts with a "meet and greet", with participants sharing samples of their favorite beer or home brew, along with brewers from Ommegang present to offer feedback. Really breaks the ice. Transportation to Ommegang is provided (no, we did not sing "99 bottles of beer on the wall" on the school bus :) ), so no fear of taking full advantage of the private tasting, and 5-course meal/beer pairings. The Inn is within walking distance of many local attractions. Fortunately, the visit coincided with the Cooperstown Winter Carnival, so a lot of bonus "folksy" activities that did not require driving. Our car stayed untouched in the parking lot for two days. Definitely 5-STAR..... wish we could give more.

Excellent, simply excellent. Clean, convenient, quiet -- perfect. From the time I arrived until the time I left I was happy and satisfied. The room was spacious, comfortable and clean. The location is excellent. Breakfast was fine (nothing special) but the decor and ambiance is second to none. I would return and highly recommend.

There were a sufficient number of outlets for all the electronic charges, et cetera, the A/C worked fine, the TV had a digital cable package, it had a mini-fridge, and the bathroom was big enough to accommodate two people. The location was convenient - two blocks away from Main Street, so it was quiet, but only about an 8 minute walk into town, including the Hall of Fame (baseball, for all you coming to town for the opera). Three different churches are about five minutes away by walking, and there was sufficient parking at the Barnwell, even with a full house. Mark and Tara were outstanding hosts. Very personable, with good senses of humor. Attention to service was evident with all the "special" things done for breakfast for various guests (this reviewer included). Example: When the Keurig was broken a replacement was purchased within twelve hours. Yes, coffee is provided 24/7. Tara was an outstanding 'concierge' with recommendations of restaurants and the local area. Mark has an obvious passion for cooking, evidenced by the quality of the breakfasts (as well as the amount of food we had!). Anyone who will buy andouille sausage via mail order to ensure a good quality pays attention to the little details. Three days, three breakfasts, and nothing was repeated. Bottom Line: Whatever you expect out of a stay at a bed & breakfast will be exceeded at the Barnwell Inn.

I wasn't looking forward to the trip until I had my first contact, through Tara, with the Barnwell Inn. She and her husband Mark make you feel like welcome guests from your first inquiry about reservations until your final day at the Inn. They are a truly gracious couple! After we made reservations, Tara provided us with recommendations of things to do in the area as well as places for lunch and dinner. She also offered to make reservations for us. All of her suggestions were excellent. The Hall of Fame wasn't as bad as I thought it would be, although I didn't feel the need to visit for a second day. Tara recommended the Fennimore Art Museum, and I spent an enjoyable morning exploring there. The Inn is in a lovely home in a quiet neighborhood, and is only a few blocks from the HOF, shops and restaurants. Cooperstown is a great town for walking. One of the best parts of staying at the Barnwell Inn is the breakfast. It is presented beautifully, and the food is out-of-this-world good! Our stay at the Barnwell Inn was one of the best lodging experiences we've ever had. I'm even looking forward to a return trip to Cooperstown! There appear to be other lovely inns and b&b's in Cooperstown, but there is no need to look beyond the Barnwell Inn.

Certain weekends/events in Cooperstown can have Main B&B booked solid without an early reservation. Prices vary per season and the events taking place in town. This B & B is located within walking distance to downtown - leave your car parked at the B & B. Street parking and lot parking is available. I parked on the street many times staying here and had no problem. There are three different bedrooms to rent with your own private bathroom in each room. Bedrooms have hardwood floor with floor rugs. Breakfast is served between 8 and 9am, and Susan is a wonderful cook. I have always enjoyed her dishes. They provide you a front door key to enter the house after "closing" time, and you are also provided a key to your bedroom. This B & B is not handicap accessible - all bedrooms are on the second floor. Stairs wrap around and are only wide enough for those who may need to use crutches or a cane. This is an old Victorian style home, decorated beautifully providing you a warm welcome during your stay in Cooperstown. I have stayed here twice, and I highly recommend the Main Street B & B.

It is a very nice place, but the breakfast is spectacular. They're open to letting you pick a meal, and I tried waffles, sausage, eggs, they give you a plate full of biscuits - my goodness, it's all delicious. One of the best breakfasts I've had in as long as I can remember. Even the coffee is delicious stuff. I have too much shame to gorge myself stupid in someone else's home, but I easily could have and secretly wish I would have. The owners are very accommodating, too. You're in their home, but they never make you feel like you're intruding on their space. That is a big plus. The problems with the place are beyond their control - there's nothing around, so once you come in for the night, you're pretty much stuck indoors. But that's a Cooperstown problem. There's just not much to do after 8. We even ventured around to find a nice place to eat, and it's shocking for a city guy like me to drive around such a rural area in the pitch darkness finding so little life around. Also, there's a fair amount of bugs, but I guess that's what you get when you're in the mountains. We weren't bothered by it. Pro tip: GPSes of all kinds have no idea how to get here. Yelp and google maps were confused. Google maps asked if we meant County Hwy 33 W - that is not the right one. Check out all the options the GPS gives you - Willow Tree is about 10 miles north of the Hall of Fame.

As I searched through possibilities, the first-floor suite at The Phoenix Inn caught my eye and made my decision very easy. This Inn provides everything you need, but there are no frills - the decor and accommodations are pleasant and clean. The beds are very comfortable, there is plenty of hot water, and the wi-fi worked great. There were power strips throughout the room, so we could plug in and recharge our devices. Vicki made the beds and changed the towels daily. There are daily newspapers in the common room and there is always fresh coffee, tea, and hot chocolate available. The guest fridge in the Inn's kitchen is great for chilling the goodies you get at Ommegang Brewery or the local wineries. The food is excellent. Each morning Vicki provides a buffet featuring fresh fruit, Greek yogurt, cereal, freshly-baked goodies from the Inn's kitchen, and a hot dish. The stand-outs during our visit were the Blueberry French Toast and the Raspberry-Cream Cheese Coffeecake. Vicki was amenable to special requests and was happy whip up a few scrambled eggs for my diabetic husband and she made sure to have the appropriate foods for two pregnant vegan women who were guests during our time there. The Inn is within 10-15 minutes of most of Cooperstown's attractions, but located away from it all. We had no trouble sleeping. I'd return to The Phoenix Inn.
