The 2 minute walk to the Hall Of Fame had a lot to do with that decision. There are definite positives and negatives. The positives are, including the short HOF walk: Large King Room With Reasonable Rates Dorm Style Refrigerator Friendly Staff Large Flat Screen TV With Many Available Channels Comfortable Bed Good Water Pressure In Bathroom Free Parking In Back Negatives: Major Floor Slant In Room Smallest Shower Stall I've Ever Seen. Literally No Room To Soap Up Chair At Desk On Last Legs. Armrests Almost Falling Off Slow Wi-Fi In the final analysis, this isn't a bad place. In fact, the old country inn feel is refreshing for a NYC boy. However, the casket-like shower stall would make me think twice about staying here again. Best decision I've made in a long time. Literally 5 minutes from the complex. Everything about this place is a homerun. When you first walk in, there's a massive koi pond to great you. I loved seeing the koi as we came and gone everyday. Then Erin is there to great you. Actually, our first day, she greeted us as we pulled in. The nicest person we've met in a long time. Very helpful with information on the area and extremely accommodating. It's a bed and breakfast but unfortunately with nonstop baseball going on, we never had the opportunity to eat breakfast. We did explore the breakfast area one night. Very spacious and welcoming. Our room was great. King size bed with two sliding doors leading to a balcony over looking a brook and the woods. Huge sitting room, esthetic fireplace, fridge, private bathroom. We came home to a freshly made bed every night. If you're deciding on where to stay in the area, look no further, contact Erin ASAP.

We would stay here again next time we visit the Baseball Hall of Fame I had contacted Eric (the owner) about the noisy fan and I think his reply to me is one more reason to stay there next we go back. The location was convenient - two blocks away from Main Street, so it was quiet, but only about an 8 minute walk into town, including the Hall of Fame (baseball, for all you coming to town for the opera). Three different churches are about five minutes away by walking, and there was sufficient parking at the Barnwell, even with a full house. Mark and Tara were outstanding hosts. Very personable, with good senses of humor. Attention to service was evident with all the "special" things done for breakfast for various guests (this reviewer included). Example: When the Keurig was broken a replacement was purchased within twelve hours. Yes, coffee is provided 24/7. Tara was an outstanding 'concierge' with recommendations of restaurants and the local area. Mark has an obvious passion for cooking, evidenced by the quality of the breakfasts (as well as the amount of food we had!). Anyone who will buy andouille sausage via mail order to ensure a good quality pays attention to the little details. Three days, three breakfasts, and nothing was repeated. I wasn't looking forward to the trip until I had my first contact, through Tara, with the Barnwell Inn. She and her husband Mark make you feel like welcome guests from your first inquiry about reservations until your final day at the Inn. They are a truly gracious couple! After we made reservations, Tara provided us with recommendations of things to do in the area as well as places for lunch and dinner. She also offered to make reservations for us. All of her suggestions were excellent. The Hall of Fame wasn't as bad as I thought it would be, although I didn't feel the need to visit for a second day. Tara recommended the Fennimore Art Museum, and I spent an enjoyable morning exploring there. The Inn is in a lovely home in a quiet neighborhood, and is only a few blocks from the HOF, shops and restaurants. Cooperstown is a great town for walking. One of the best parts of staying at the Barnwell Inn is the breakfast. It is presented beautifully, and the food is out-of-this-world good! Our stay at the Barnwell Inn was one of the best lodging experiences we've ever had. I'm even looking forward to a return trip to Cooperstown! There appear to be other lovely inns and b&b's in Cooperstown, but there is no need to look beyond the Barnwell Inn.

Fieldstone Farm is a breath of fresh air in a world full of cookie-cutter hotels and motels. You can stay in a cabin, or one of the other townhouses in the middle of "Farm Central" upstate New York. I always see a multitude of wildlife. They just got a new boat with a shade for the big pond, so you can hang out all day on the water without getting sunburn. They have some nice amenities like a tennis court, volleyball court, basketball court, game room/arcade, a nice size in the ground outdoor pool, billiards room and another smaller pond for fishing. There's a nice rolling stream too. The view from the top of the hill is absolutely stunning. The staff is very pleasant and helpful. Pictures don't do it justice. I can't wait to go back.

Initially I had wanted to stay on the water, but we took the "road less traveled" and so glad we did. It is a serene and peaceful location. Once we figured out the route we found it to be quite convenient to Cooperstown and surrounding attractions, and the views are magnificent. The stars at night were incredible. I loved the area and was glad to be away from the traffic and congestion up and down the lakefront. The owners of the Fieldstone Farm, John and Jeannie, were very friendly and accommodating. Our unit was spotless. I would happily stay here again.
