We stayed at this inn a few times and loved it. Excellent location and service. Inn was very clean. Comfortable rooms.

When you first walk in your eyes meet a spiral stair case. Walking past the parlor in the afternoon the room is filled with women playing mahjong and sipping tea! It feels like you are transported back generations! The patterns are funky and the furniture is comfy! Reminds me of a new age colonial- comfort of grandmas living room! The gentleman at the front desk was so charming - very sweet. Complimentary red and white wine served starting at 4- and the wine was actually tasty! I was impressed! There are no elevators - so be ready to carry your luggage. Also I'm not sure how great the AC is - this is a historic Mansion - I'm taking wood windows with chains. It really made me reminisce of my childhood home. The bed was very comfy and I slept with the windows open for cool breeze. I opted out of breakfast as it seemed carb heavy - per recommendation went to the diner around the corner- so good! Front desk staff is charming- the other staff (maids staff) is... interesting. It's not the four seasons but I did enjoy the personality and charm of this property and it seems like they are adding some more to it! Definitely worth the visit ! read more

Took a quick off-season trip to the Baseball Hall Of Fame and stayed here. Prices at this time of year are a real bargain for such a beautiful old inn just 3 minutes from the Hall Of Fame. Modern amenities like free wi-fi and daily wine after 4:00 make it even better. They also have a free continental breakfast but I chose to go to the Cooperstown Diner, just around the corner, for my morning treats. I arrived in the mid morning hours and they graciously let me park there and walk to the Hall Of Fame. Check-in was easy. Had a problem with my room though. It was like a furnace. After a while of trying to get it cooler and being unsuccessful, I went to the desk for help. When I said my room number I was told, "Oh, that room is actually the warmest in the inn." I said, "Well, you couldn't have made a worse choice than putting me in the warmest room. I HATE heat." They were very nice and apologetic about it. I wound up being upgraded to one of their best rooms, spacious and comfortable. And after a while, the room temperature was at 67 degrees, just the way I like it. The bed was comfortable. After being all around town and even getting out of town a few miles to the Ommegang Brewery, it was nice to be able to get a good night's sleep in a nice big bed. Gotta admit though, not all was perfect. They lose a star because I discovered the hard way that sometimes you can't trust those new soap and shampoo dispensers that many hotels are now using in place of the little bottles of shampoo they used to use. When I took my shower before hitting the road to come home I started pumping the body gel dispenser. Nothing. I had to get out of the shower and get one of the small bars of soap on the bathroom sink. Thank God they still had one of those in the room. All in all, a positive experience. We traveled here from Houston during the off season for a trip to the Baseball Hall of Fame. Our flight got in late and we drove in the middle of a snowstorm so we didn't check in until about 2 am. The staff was accommodating and friendly. I called several times to ensure there would be someone to meet us that late. Each time I talked to a real person and there was night staff who got us checked in. The room was spacious enough for my husband and I and the amenities were cozy and the perfect mix of historical and modern. The price was incredible since it was off season (January). They serve a continental breakfast (pastries, cereal, fresh fruit, waffles, coffee, juices, etc.) and that was plenty for us. The hotel is within walking distance to the Hall of Fame, local coffee shops, and restaurants. Some places had closed down for the off season but we knew that ahead of time. The hotel and entire town are adorable and we will definitely be coming back to visit. read more

We stayed for 4 nights in September and it is absolutely lovely .......BUT; The beds are Full, and sooooo Uncomfy. I had the worst sleeps ever. It is an old building and there are air conditioning issues, wall units.... loud and just not cool in this day and age. Would not stay again. read more

This rustic Inn, located at the top of the street that draws everyone to Cooperstown, is truly one of a kind. You'll drop some money staying here, to be sure, but the friendly (and knowledgeable) service at the front desk, the comfort of the rooms, and the amenities that come with it make it all worth it (continental breakfast, air conditioning, etc.). If you have never stayed the night in Cooperstown, I highly recommend doing so. There are a number of bars and restaurants that stay open late during the spring, summer and fall. And if you do stay, I highly recommend the historic Cooper Inn. You will not be disappointed. On a personal note, I left a baseball jersey at the Inn, but assumed I had left it in my rental car. The rental car place was stuffy and unhelpful when I contacted them, so I had assumed it was gone forever. Several months later, it finally occurred to me that I could have left it at the Cooper Inn. I called them up and -- voila! -- not only did they have it, they shipped it out, first-class mail, the following day. Big points. read more

Okay, I have to say we were here in the off-season and I think we were the only guests, but this is a lovely old hotel (serves a continental breakfast so I guess that makes it a B&B) with a wonderful staff, squeaky but comfortable beds, ample closets, and half-a-block from all the action on Main Street (i.e., BB Hall of Fame and a zillion t-shirt shops). I loved staying here. I loved sitting in the lounge, where they provide self-serve beer and wine on the honor system (i.e., let them know what you consume when you check out) and enjoying the colonial atmosphere. I loved chatting with the front desk personnel and trying to stump them with history of Cooperstown questions. Definitely a first-rate operation. read more

Cooper Inn is a beautiful and classic inn at the Southern tip of Otsego Lake in Cooperstown, NY. The inn is colorfully decorated, full of charm in every corner, and the service is top notched. I was greeted from the first moment I stepped in the inn to check in. The complimentary breakfast was amazing. The coffee is freshly brew and can make fresh waffles when you are ready to eat it. I had a deluxe double room with one queen bed in one room and an jointing room with 1 twin. The duvet and pillows were so comfortable. The bathroom was clean and full of complimentary toiletry items. The inn has wifi which makes getting on-line so easy. Cooper Inn is walking distance from all the art, farm, and Hall of Fame museums. No need to drive. It is walking distance from all the restaurants on Main Street as well. I will stay at Cooper Inn in the future when visiting Cooperstown, NY. read more

I wish my experience had been better. To start, I wasn't paying for this room (had I been, I would have found other accomodations) but I did see the bill. My single queen room (which was supposed to be a double, not the inn's fault, but the folks who made the reservation), was $359/night before tax. I also want to clear up some confusion from other reviews I've read. This IS NOT a bed and breakfast. It is an inn, owned by the extremely large resort down the street and used as an annex/over-flow. The breafast they provide is a Comfort Inn level continental breakfast, complete with cheap pastry. This property is in NO WAY handicap accessible. No ramps, steep stairways, not even handicap parking spaces in their lot. The room: It was cute...I've stayed in cuter, more historically accurate rooms that still maintained to be luxurious for an equal or lower price. The bed was meh. The cooling system rattled all night. The bathroom was nice but needed updated. The service: First of all, the individual who checked us in was, himself, "checked out". He couldn't care less. Our room was up a set of spiral stairs, my traveling companion was physically unable to carry her bags up, so the desk clerk watched as I made 3 trips up and down the stairs with our bags and made no attempt to help. There was almost never anyone at the front desk for me to ask any questions. On night 1, the fire alarm malfunctioned for 45 minutes. When we got back to our room on the second night, we found that housekeeping had forgot to put a flat sheet on our bed, just the main blanket. That was a fun wait while we were completely exhausted. In conclusion, don't waste your money, stay a the main Otesaga resort or one of the many true bed and breakfasts in town. read more

My boyfriend and I stayed at the Cooper Inn for one night in March, during the off season, while we visited to see the Baseball Hall of Fame. The price was reasonable, the room was immaculate, the staff was helpful, and the atmosphere was cozy and very comfortable. Cooperstown makes you feel a little bit like you're going back in time, in a good way. It was very conveniently located and made it easy to see the sights in Cooperstown. We wished we could have stayed longer! While it may get more expensive and busy during the summer, we would recommend the Cooper Inn to anyone traveling to Cooperstown, especially during the quiet season, for a relaxing and quiet getaway. read more

Just got home from a wonderful stay here! I am from Southern Maryland and I had never heard of Cooperstown until I saw a story on the Today Show about great places to go for a Winter/Christmas getaway. Cooper Inn was the one that stuck out to me so I immediately booked a room for me and my good friend. We stayed in room 268, it was a beautiful big room with a Queen and Twin bed with tall ceilings and big windows looking out on the snow covered streets. The whole hotel was decked out with festive decorations and it was just magical! The breakfast choices were also very good! They have Waffles, Pastries, Fruit, Bagels, Cereal, Oatmeal, etc...The staff was very friendly, there is a private parking lot off the street, and all the great restaurants and stores are right around the corner! (I highly recommended Mels at 22, the food is absolutely delicious!). I will definitely be coming back in the Spring or Fall to see this historic gem again in another season. But if you are looking for a perfect and magical Christmas getaway, the Cooper Inn is the place to stay! read more

Due to an unexpected illness, I had to cancel a reservation last minute. I called and left a voicemail and rather than a call back, I received an email cancellation. I sent a follow up email asking to speak to someone and received no response. I called again twice and always got a voicemail. We were very excited to stay at the Cooper Inn, and were hoping to book at a later date but due to the complete lack of customer service and the fact that they do not answer the phones or respond to any correspondence we will be booking somewhere else on our next trip to Cooperstown. read more

This is a very nice Inn. I slept like a rock. It is very close to town and the baseball hall of fame. The golf resort is just down the street. When I walked past the golf resort it had a wedding reception booked. I was glad I was staying at the quieter Cooper Inn. read more

This old place has real charm and the public areas are beautifully decorated as was the room we stayed in at the top of the stairs. The location of the room at the top of a winding staircase was a problem but we arrived quite late and were so eager to get settled, I didn't ask if we could be given a room where we did not have to lug our heavy suitcases up the steps. No offer of assistance was made by the desk clerk although I guess he would have helped if asked. Once we got in our room we discovered that our bathroom was also down a set of about 7 or 8 steps - private, but down a half-floor! The buffet breakfast was average fare but the dining room was quite nice. We used the laundry service and found that the shirts were returned still damp and wrinkly. The desk clerk did offer to remedy the situation, but I would advise that you try the cleaners down the street if you need laundry done! Overall, the Cooper Inn seems like a place that could use updating and maintenance so the experience better matches the high rates they charge. ***If you have trouble with stairs, do not book a room without asking about accessibility!*** read more

I went to the Cooper Inn in January of this year. It was very nice and clean. The inn is quite old but has some modern amenities like a flat screen TV in the room. It was very quiet at the inn being that it was the middle of winter. The inn keeper that was there upon check in was a bit weird but nice. I thought that he should have assisted with carrying out bags in however. The inn is very close to town and you can walk to whatever. One of the people I went with said that they felt that it was nicer than the Otesaga and much much cheaper. It is afflliated with the Otesaga and you can use the amenities there like the gym and pool. The inn provides a continental breakfast which includes bagels, english muffins, cereal, and fruit. If you are looking for a full breakfast there is the Cooperstown Diner about a block away. Overall, the Cooper Inn is very nice and I will likely be staying there next time I go back. read more

Found this on yelp and enjoyed staying here. It's on the same block as all the attractions, walking distance to every thing in Cooperstown. Nice historic inn, very clean and nice updated bathroom. Since it snowed when we arrived, we did't go to the sister hotel, Otesaga (can use their amneties) untl the next morning. We had a great breakfast buffet with views of the lake. Stayed here and had parents / grandparents /wedding party stay here the night before and night of our wedding. Rooms were beautiful, lobby and breakfast area were great areas to socialize and take group photos. Hotel was NOT handicap accessible, so the elderly grandparents had a difficult time with the stairs in and out of the building, however the hotel staff went above and beyond trying to accommodate them, even rearranging room assignments for us to get them into a closer room to the lobby. This was really a great experience, would love to leave 5 stars, but the heat was turned on and it was 80 degrees outside! The front desk told us they didn't have the AC set up yet, but that we also couldn't turn off the heat. It was very hot at night and we had to open the windows which had no screens. Other than that, the breakfast is included and it was really delicious, the service was great, and the room was nice. It's really an Inn and you have your own bathroom which is good. I wasn't sure at first if it was a Bed and Breakfast that might have a shared bathroom. Super conveniently located and you get museum tickets included in your stay! We went to the Baseball Hall of Fame, but there are two other art museums you can choose from. Very convenient if you are going to one of those, they are all walking distance away and with walking distance to town and most restaurants. Would definitely stay there again! read more
