I had the pleasure of staying at The Worcester Inn while attending a graduation party. My husband and I and our three children under 8 stayed in 304. Overall, this was a super pleasurable experience. Customer Service was exceptional! Staff was super accommodating and helpful! Local people were kind and courteous! We decide at the last minute to stay the night. Jim was so kind! I had originally asked to have one bed thinking...but once seeing the room decided to upgrade to a double bed. The room was large, two double beds, was clean. Decor is a little dated but is still charming and homey feeling! There is plenty of towels and blankets. We enjoyed the small seating area by the window to sit and reflect early morning to do reading. The only gripe which bumped the review down was our air conditioner is too small for the large room we had. Possibly could of be remedied if we turned it on prior to going in to Oneonta for dinner. We prefer our AC to be on high...it looked like the knobs have been taken off to prevent changing the settings. The next morning we decided it would be more convenient to have breakfast in the hotel. The breakfast was ABSOLUTELY amazing! We ordered the children's first. The two youngest had the mini pancake...which was not mini! The really enjoyed it! My oldest had French toast and sat and ate his whole meal with out saying a word! My husband had the Big O. He said it was seasoned perfectly! Jim was super accommodating. I asked if they had Gluten free options. He stated not anything specifically set to gluten free but his staff would make sure to meet my dietary needs. I had the corned beef hash with scrambled eggs! The homemade hash had huge chunks of corned beef complimented with some potatoes! Definitely the way hash should be made! Quaint. I went there a few times for lunch and dinner during the pre-pandemic era. I really enjoyed the meals and especially the salad bar. The seating is comfortable and the menu is nice. I am mostly vegan and sometimes vegetarian and there were food options. I am glad it has reopened after the pandemic. It is a surprise in such a small town. read more

Had dinner last night and Mother's Day brunch this morning. My dinner - Shrimp Scampi was good. The Pizza rolls, not so much. Salad bar was extra - looked like a pass, so didn't go for the $2.95 upcharge. Good selection of drinks and the draft beer was delivered perfectly. My wife and SIL both had the salmon special and enjoyed it. We all commented that the veggies were slightly over cooked. The brunch was a very good deal. Delicious buffet that kept the food warm and fresh. Service was sublime and made for a very enjoyable meal. We stayed the night - room was fine. No hair dryer and the trains roll through the town until late and early in the morning. Fortunately the earplugs did the trick! read more

This place was clean and comfortable, with an atmosphere that could be described as old-fashioned, rustic, homey, dusty, spare. I don't know if there actually was a set of knight's armor in the hallway or if I'm just imagining that I saw one, but it wouldn't have been out of place. Staff was friendly. We arrived on a Friday evening quite late and were greeted and checked in very quickly. I had requested two cots for the room and they were there waiting for us. The rug was quite dirty and the room generally was not kept very clean: from the dust ruffle to the carpet to pieces of the shower curtain rod falling apart to the non working lamps, I felt very uncomfortable. I just about had it by Monday and called the desk. I asked if I could get a refund for the rest of our stay. Instead of getting a refund, i was told that a suite would be offered (the room next door). We moved next door and we were happy with that room. It had a jacuzzi (didn't use it) but more importantly, it was much cleaner. The lamps worked and the plaster was not falling off the walls. The bathroom was clean. I appreciated being switched to the other room but I would not choose to stay here again, as it was about 30 mins from where we wanted to be (Oneonta/Cooperstown). There is not much this town offers. read more

Stayed here Jul 18-25 2014. Older building, small town atmosphere. Comfortable albeit basic room (307). Great service (Sorry to hear of your problem Fran D,) Jim was very accommodating even manning the grill when his cook didn't show up for the breakfast crowd one day. We had dinner there once and it was good and reasonably priced. We ate breakfast there every morning and it was always good and the service excellent. We will stay here again. read more

This inn is quaint, rustic and quiet. The manager Jim is very friendly and hospitable. The food is good and the room was comfortable.

We just had our wedding ceremony and reception here and stayed two nights. Jim, his wife and staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was a big surprise. After staying in many "big box" hotels, our room here was HUGE and comfortable. We had a Jacuzzi in room which was great to soak in. I'm pretty sure our rooms were bigger than some apartments! Our big day went so smoothly and was just what we wanted. We will definitely be back. The food they served for the reception was well done, plentiful and very tasty. read more

Not my first time - in fact, I've been here I think four times now, beginning in 2006; this dining experience was decidedly the worst (Mother's Day, with my mother as the guest). I'll speak for myself, and what was on my plate. The menu today was billed as a five course menu, but, strangely, not singly-priced for all five courses - which was somewhat confusing. So even though they included "appetizer, soup, salad, entree, and dessert", the appetizer and entree had prices next to them, but the other three didn't. That led me to think that dessert, like the soup and salad, was included in the entree price, but it wasn't. Not a big deal, but consistency and transparency are good in all facets of life, including running a restaurant. I'll also mention that there was only one waitress waiting on several tables on what is always a busy day for restaurants. That was also a minor bad note. But let's get to the food: After perusing the short, half-dozen or so entrees, I settled on the grilled polenta with the "secret sauce". I also decided to spring for one of the three appetizers listed - shrimp cocktail, baked scallops, or stuffed mushrooms. I like all three, but the thought of a nicely-baked dish of scallops sounded particularly appealing, so that was it. Now what would you picture when you think of baked scallops? Probably not what came out of the kitchen and was presented to me - the most bizarre concoction calling itself "baked scallops" that I have EVER seen: An oblong dish, looking like it had come out of the oven, with a bunch of bay scallops floating in an unappetizing liquid full of what looked like cheese curds. Ummm.... where's the "baked" part of this? I should've said, "What the HELL is that?" Instead, I un-characteristically kept my mouth shut and started eating them. They were awful and I hope I don't get sick. I should've said, "Take these back to the kitchen - don't want." But I soldiered on, thinking that maybe the kitchen/chef knew something that I didn't about "baked scallops". In the final analysis, they don't. They apparently also have a very bizarre notion of what the term "baked" means. Indeed, what is it about "baked" that you folks don't get? On the plus side, the grilled polenta was decent, but could've used other veggies in the secret sauce other than the overwhelming number of mushrooms that were the veggie accompaniment. How about, say, grilled zucchini, for example? A little variety would have made this a bigger hit than it was. Because of the abysmally bad "baked scallops", this experience has to be a "one star". I might have given it a three, otherwise, tops, but this lack of basic kitchen savvy for a simple dish is simply un-forgiveable. Avoid the otherwise quaint, old-timely village atmosphere, if you're looking for quality food. read more

Our family had reservations for lunch after funeral services for my Mother on May 12, 2014 for a party of 10. We arrived as planned - Jim (owner) had no 'record' of the reservation. We were seated and served. Halfway through lunch Jim 'found' the reservations. We only had one server and one cook -- the food was cold & undercooked &/or overcooked, the service was truly bad - orders were constantly screwed up, some orders not totally delivered, requested drink refills were never given. The $153.00 bill was paid but later Jim offered to refund $50.00 to compensate for the poor service and food. After trying to follow up with 7 phone calls in which Jim said each time the check had been mailed (never was) and 3 times he just hung up on me as soon as I said my name - I will never step foot in his establishment again nor would I encourage anyone I know to do so. When my nephew came to me and told me he could get a better burger at his place of business (Denny's) - that did it for me. This is the first time I have ever known a business man to not honor his word - the food was truly horrible - cold - under cooked for some, over cooked for others, and served so that some were done while others were just getting fed. My sister got her meal after all 9 others had totally FINISHED their meal -- totally unprofessional but I did not want to make a scene and it was a very emotional time as I had just buried my Mother a half hour earlier!!! And he couldn't even live up to his word and repay the $50.00 he himself offered??? And it is a total tax write off to him but is a lot of $$ to someone like me on a FIXED income and not able to write it off. Thanks much Jim - Quite the adventure and will not be repeated. I am a person of my word and expect the same from others. If you can't deliver - don't promise. read more
