This is where the PTAC control should be.
Shelly A.

Pretty typical Hampton Inn experience as of the last three years. When we arrived, the woman at the front desk was busy and called a male employee to assist us. He was friendly and promptly checked us in. However, we did have to ask for our gold reward, water & and snack, but it was presented promptly. After arriving in our room, we wanted to unwind, so we sat on the sofa. Unfortunately, the cold air was blowing so forcefully out of the PTAC that it was uncomfortable. I looked around for the wall control to change the setting and couldn't find it. We tried to control the unit from the front panel, but that didn't have any effect over the unit. We couldn't even turn it off. Next, we tried to place a towel over the vent so it wouldn't blow directly on us; however, the air was blowing so forcefully that the idea was a bust. With all of our resources exhausted, we called the front desk to ask how to turn off the unit. The woman answering said she had no idea and handed the phone over to the man who checked us in. He indicated that the units are controlled by a wall control. Since we couldn't find the wall control, he offered to come up to assist. Upon his arrival, he confirmed that the wall control had been removed. He, too, attempted to shut off the PTAC unit to no avail. As a last resort, he removed the front cover, went underneath it, and loosened the plug until it shut off. He apologized profusely and said they would have moved us, but they were fully booked. He offered to come back to plug it back in before we went to bed, but we opted for the instructions. This man (I wish I had his name) was extremely helpful and very friendly. Sitting on the sofa presented another issue. The lighting above the sofa from the floor lamp was not conducive to holding a conversation. It was blinding. The lighting in these rooms could certainly be more thoughtful/purposeful. Lastly, the breakfast buffet. It was representative of how the buffets have become, nutritionally lacking. The hot offerings were 1) oatmeal, 2) "western omelet," and 3) French toast sticks (these were actually cold). There weren't any meat options, but there were plenty of other sugary or carby options, including toast or bagels (sorry, no utensils were available to actually take one) and cereal. The ENTIRE TIME we were getting our food and eating we were listening to a woman complaining to another staff member that someone had called out. They were standing just inside the door behind the food station. (She was loud, angry, and frustrated) Unfortunately, this is what our typical Hilton hotel experience has been like as we attempt to spend down over 1 million Hilton points acquired by years of loyalty to this brand. In our eyes, "Hilton Hotels" is no longer synonymous with "excellent service."

The stain on our bed sheets

This hotel is a 1/5. Our first room had stains on the bed sheets and when we pulled back the covers had one big black ant crawling on it. We got moved to another room and we didn't even walk in the room, it smelled like someone just smoked in there, the fresh cigarette smell. We got moved to the next room which was doable but not great. It was better then the last 2 rooms but one of the rooms had no working lights other then the natural light coming from the window. The breakfast included in our stay was the best part of our experience. The breakfast was just okay but compared to the rest of our visit was the best part. Overall the vibe of the hotel was depressing in our experience, there is no color and looks like it's hasn't been updated in 20 years. Overall would not recommend staying here.

The staff were all amazing, especially this woman Mary who checked us in. Everyone was super friendly and helpful, even on recommending wonderful restaurants nearby. The room seemed clean and well cared for, except that it had a 12"x18" stain on the ceiling in one spot sortof above the bed. The pull-out couch was terribly uncomfortable to sit on, but otherwise everything was great. The room had a refrigerator and microwave, which were a huge plus. The pool and hot tub were nice and there was also a fitness area and a business center (neither of which I actually used, but it was good to know they're there). I witnessed them cleaning various different areas numerous times during my stay, which made me feel good about staying here. I also rather enjoyed the included breakfast, which had Belgian waffles, scrambled eggs, plus cereals, juices and coffee. While not as good as a restaurant breakfast - not having to leave to get a fresh cup of coffee or eat breakfast was a plus. Also the big fresh chocolate chip cookies on check in were a terrific welcome!! Even the housekeepers were friendly and accommodating when I asked for a few extra towels. I would stay again, without hesitation.

Very friendly staff. Grounds are kept up well and the rooms are what we'd expect from a Hampton Inn. I will definitely stay here again. Pics are outside my window and of the beautiful hostas outside the pool area. and...Emily, at the front desk, is the best at providing directions and the best restaurants in the area.

I've had lots of bad experiences with inns and Airbnb listings in the Catskills…read more The Redwood Inn was hands down the only place I've stayed at that was clean, well thought out, modern, and fully functional. The view of the patio in the back is really nice. The fixtures and furnishings in the room aren't cheap, rickety and outdated, unlike what you would find at any of the big name lodgings nearby. The main thing that might bother some people is the train nearby. I did hear it at night while I was sleeping. However it wasn't bad enough to ruin my night's sleep. Pat and Sandy who own the inn are very friendly and helpful. Raquel, who maintains and operates the inn is very responsive and professional. Also they don't list prices on their website but they are on par with the rates in the area (all hotels have different rates for rooms, seasons, stay durations, etc.). You are getting a decent to good value for your money. Stay here instead of the other big name chains in the area or the unregulated Airbnbs that are always a gamble.

Fun opening ceremony for the fans, guaranteed six games and then single elimination tournament, and then fireworks at the end of the tournament. They have nice turf and grass fields and stands and covered seating for fans. Shorter fences so kids are hitting bombs all week. Kids stay in the bunkhouses in the players village with coaches, and security is pretty tight about when they can come and go and where they can go. People without authorization also cannot enter, so I think parents can feel a little more comfortable knowing their kids will be ok. Weather is very unpredictable from sweltering humid heat to thunderstorms, so bring sunblock, bug spray, and umbrellas and/or ponchos and rain gear. You will do a lot of walking and it is really hilly, but they do have trollies pulled by tractors and golf carts that can transport you if you're too tired to walk. Make sure you plan ahead as parking fills up fast. There should be some extra parking up on the upper lot, but you will have to walk pretty far or wait for the trolley. Kids had a blast playing ball, trading pins, and just hanging out with their teammates and other players from all across the country. My nephew also said the food they served in the dining hall was actually pretty good. There is also a hotel you can stay at on the site, but I think most people stay at Airbnb's or hotels just a few miles from the complex. We stayed at one about 1.5 miles away, and you're able to walk there, but again, check the weather before you take off. Not much else to do in Oneonta, but you can drive down to Cooperstown and go to the hall of fame. Again, pretty tiring experience if you're flying into Albany international airport as I don't think there are many direct flights so you will be waiting at several airports. The drive from Albany to the village is also about 1.5 hours, but it is a really pretty and scenic drive all around the area. I had a great time and I think most kids would agree it's a memory that they will always remember.

The umpires were just ok, and sometimes very rude. They are not great at trash pick up as the field for opening ceremony was trashed. They have a beautiful creek running through the park, but it is littered with trash and tons of baseballs. My hope is that they clean better after the 15 weeks. It made me sad to see ball after ball being hit into beautiful wilderness.

However-- this is a company, or a single entity, that is not acting in good faith as far as consumers. All of the hotels in the Oneonta, New York area charge exhorbitant summer rates because they can (because they are near the Cooperstown Baseball Camps-Baseball Hall of Fame, and near a college and university having graduations and summer orientation). This summer, 2025, for a single chain hotel room the pre tax and fee rate is about $388 per night. So upstate New York you are spending about $1000 for two nights. If they would let you. It is almost impossible for an individual traveler to get a room ahead for the summer. Going on line you read "unavailable". Calling- They say they do not yet "have the rates" even when it is less than a year away you are trying to reserve a room for. I suspect they may be holding out for groups that rent the whole hotel for week long bloc stays, rather than allow a regular single traveler to reserve a room on line. So great hotel in Oneonta. in every way. Except for fair and respectful dealing with the individual summer traveler.

The hotel was spotless and there was reliable housekeeping daily. The layout of the room was perfect...plenty of room for your luggage. Our room had 2 queen beds and they were very comfortable. I love that the hotel had shampoo, conditioner and body wash dispensers in the tub and hand wash and lotion dispensers on the sink. They were Dove products which was great. Despite the hotel being sold out, it was amazingly quiet. We even had the pool to ourselves one day. This hotel is not huge, which was a huge plus too. I would stay here again.

Out of all the hotels in Oneonta, DO NOT stay here. It is disgusting. My husband and I booked a…read moreroom here and immediately checked right out. We had the suite and as soon as we walked into the room you can tell this hotel hasn't been taken care of in years & it has nothing to do with Covid. I had always seen this hotel in town and thought it was in a great location but it is deteriorating at a rapid rate. When I noticed the walls, floors and lamp shades all banged up I took a look at the bed sheets that were yellowed and full of stains. I was immediately ready to leave. The pictures and other reviews are completely misleading on the internet! This hotel also doesn't offer any type of grab and go breakfast when many other local hotels do despite the pandemic. No one expects a sit down buffet but to have nothing was strange especially when it has competing prices with the other local, well known hotels. So as soon as we saw this "luxury" suite we walked into, I was ready to leave however I wanted to give this place the benefit of the doubt and the front desk clerk took us to another junior suite. There were even more stains all over the carpet and the bedsheets and bath towels. It was repulsive. I'd rather sleep in my car. If that's how this hotel runs... I can't imagine what you DONT see. This is unacceptable and unsanitary. If we can visibly see so many disgusting stains I can't even imagine what we CAN'T see! Whatever you do - don't stay here! It is totally run down and it looks like it's just being abused for college kids to party in. There were only 4 cars in the parking lot when we got there and that should have been my first sign something was off. Every other hotel is beautiful in town with full parking lots which should have been a clue. It's not like this hotel was that much cheaper than the rest as they are all within the same price ranges. Unfortunately this place needs a complete renovation and needs new ownership immediately because it's obvious it's being completely neglected. The heart of Oneonta deserves better. Thankfully I was able to make quick accommodations elsewhere for my husband and I this weekend.

We're right next to Jimmy-T's on a Friday. Now my parents will know how crazy Oneonta gets." Last year, when we came here for move in, there was complimentary breakfast as well as nice drinks in a huge glass jug. This year, none of that is a thing. I can't believe for $200 a night, there isn't breakfast. Even when there used to be breakfast, there were only 4 tables for patrons to eat at, which only fits 16 people max. There is an ice machine, but no water fountain or complimentary water bottles. There are many outlets and lights here and plenty of mirrors. There are both regular outlets as well as USB outlets, woohoo! This year's room has a jacuzzi, but no light on top of the jacuzzi. The television is a bit small. There's a bar here and a spa as well as a dining area in the lobby. The beds are clean and comfortable an come with many pillows. There is a mini fridge that isn't really cold inside. There is a coffee boiler, hair dryer, and ironing board. I wish there was a microwave. This room is perfect. The rooms that face main street aren't as great as the ones that face market street because the view is just crazy different. Market street views get to see the beautiful hills that surround Oneonta, whereas the Main st. views...you can just see crazy college kids at night. The air conditioning here works better than all the airbnb locations i've been to this summer. Bless you! One perk of this hotel is that is it on a Pokemon go stop! You can reach it from some rooms.
