Usually we'd rent a house in the area but as our plans weren't final until a few days before we had no choice but to book a hotel room. Which was fine since our boy was staying at grandma's who lives around here. Sadly we didn't get to check out the indoor pool which was a huge reason for picking this place, on top of seeming like the best place to stay. I love technology these days we were able to check in and hang at my mom's until our room was ready. Then we could just use the app to get into our room which was great because we brought our boy to see the hotel and he has no patience lol. This was our first hotel stay in awhile since as I said we usually rent houses now that we have a toddler (not fun being couped up in a small room) we had a nice suite here and despite me hating the decor lol, seriously come on grey up the place! I mean it wasn't outdated it was just very yellow/brown for my taste. Grey walls and some teal couches would be awesome. It was nice having a short trip alone and exploring the area. I'd stay here again.

The hotel is pretty new and everything seems very updated. The staff while we were there extremely friendly and helpful. My GPS would not identify the address for this location. When I called the hotel I was told this was an issue and they gave me the McDonald's address as an alternate. Unfortunately, they gave me the address to a Toyota dealership located about 7 miles from the hotel. :( The rooms are clean and spacious. We had issues with the pool and hot tub. The pool was over chlorinated and the hot tub jets didn't work. The hot tub control panel on the wall had a open hole where I guess a switch of some sort used to be. The fitness center was small, but the equipment worked fine. One of the minor flaws of the hotel was trying to maintain consistent water temperature, water pressure was not an issue, but water temperature varied and fluctuated as you showered. The free WiFi was also an issue, it was unstable and my phone kept dropping the signal. The "Bistro" as they called it, located in the lobby offered breakfast and lunch items but were on the pricier side. There are several restaurant's in the area you can visit, McDonald's being one of them. Since the hotel is up on a hill, I imagine it could get precarious in the winter months. There are no reflectors or lightning on the hill leading you to the hotel. So you need to be careful driving up/down in the evening. The hotel is perfectly located, not a far drive to Cooperstown, if you're planning on visiting the National baseball hall of fame and museum. The susquehanna river is right in your backyard. Many things to explore and enjoy in this area. The hotel offers a relaxing break after a long adventurous day.

Asian salad from the bistro, bad

This place is disappointing because it has a ton of potential. This review is so low mainly because of the customer service that was experience time and time again at "The Bistro," their dining area, if you could call it that. I'll get the negatives out of the way first as they will take up the majority of my allotted characters. The stay here was for a little over a month. Checked out of the hotel every Friday morning and checked back in on Sunday nights. The hotel was aware that the stay was going to be for over a month and we were told a room would be available each week, a junior suite with a king size bed to be specific. On several occasions, Sunday check ins were less than smooth. Two weekends ago, I came to the hotel to check back in, we were familiar faces around here at this point. The woman at the front desk said she had no reservation for us at all, which was shocking considering on Friday, arrangements were made to check back in. This was extremely frustrating and took an entire hour out my day to sit at the front desk and wait for her to find an available room. Then, the business card that was on file and used for each stay in the past, was suddenly unable to be used. Eventually we got into a room and they were apologetic, but the same exact problem happened the following week. They were overbooked and did not have room for us, even though a room was supposed to be available at all times due to the long-term stay. We were so fed up at this point, we packed all of our belongings up and went to another hotel. It's evident they don't treat their frequent stayers well, because this never should have happened once, let alone 3-4 times. Now the issues with the Bistro. Overpriced, extremely low quality food, which is what I expected from a Marriott hotel, "restaurant." By the way, this is not a restaurant, it's a stand with subpar food at best. It's edible, but it's certainly not good. The caesar salad had 5 times the normal amount of dressing on it, the asian chicken salad had rubbery fatty chicken, not one peanut, which the menu stated it had and the chili lime vinaigrette got a fork dip to try it out before dumping it on my salad and I am very thankful because it was pretty awful, tasted like liquid sugar. Their spicy chicken flatbread is one of the most unappetizing things I've seen. You get the point, you're paying a pretty penny for food that kind of sucks. I could get over it if the customer service was friendly but I had bad experience after bad experience with one girl that was unbelievably unprofessional. We happened to be stuck at the hotel during the snowstorm in March. I was at the Bistro counter having a conversation with my boyfriend about what to order. The two of us were having a conversation about how we should go to Hannaford and get some snacks for later. The young girl at the cash register chimes in loudly and goes, "UMMM WE ARE IN A STATE OF EMERGENCY SO EVERYTHING IS CLOSED!!" First off, we weren't talking to you. Second off, Hannaford was open, as were most if not all of the businesses in the area as it was the second day of the storm and stores were re-opening. Other guests looked at me mortified as to how rude this girl was being to me. I almost lost it. I just smiled and bit my tongue. We placed our food order and after ordering asked if she could take one of the entrees and split it onto a separate check because it was going to be paid for with a business card. She freaked out on us. She through a fit at the register, said she could not do that because she already put it in the computer. Eyes rolled, hands on hip, pouting. Being that we had been at the Bistro multiple times and completed this transaction successfully with all of the other employees, we questioned her refusal. She proceeded to say, "Well I would have to walk all the way over to the front desk and ask my manager to do it." HA. Well considering the front desk was approximately 40 feet from her, I had no sympathy. She got her manager and the problem was immediately fixed. This girl was clearly irritated she was on her second shift, snowed in to the hotel (oh how horrible) and was taking her frustrations out on us, something you never do in customer service. She made our stay less than enjoyable and every morning I came to get coffee from her it was uncomfortable. You felt like an inconvenience in this place every time you asked for something. The rooms were nice and spacious, but the sink did not drain. One hand wash and you had a full sink of water. The beds were the most uncomfortable I've ever slept in, I would compare it to sleeping on a coffee table with a sheet, hard and flat. The pool had construction going on so you couldn't use that. The gym had one elliptical, a bike and two treadmills with a bench and some weights. Small space, but I made it work. They had a stand with clean towels, disposable headphones and sanitizing wipe tub that remained empty throughout our entire stay. Potential, but eek.

The view of the patio in the back is really nice. The fixtures and furnishings in the room aren't cheap, rickety and outdated, unlike what you would find at any of the big name lodgings nearby. The main thing that might bother some people is the train nearby. I did hear it at night while I was sleeping. However it wasn't bad enough to ruin my night's sleep. Pat and Sandy who own the inn are very friendly and helpful. Raquel, who maintains and operates the inn is very responsive and professional. Also they don't list prices on their website but they are on par with the rates in the area (all hotels have different rates for rooms, seasons, stay durations, etc.). You are getting a decent to good value for your money. Stay here instead of the other big name chains in the area or the unregulated Airbnbs that are always a gamble.

Fun opening ceremony for the fans, guaranteed six games and then single elimination tournament, and then fireworks at the end of the tournament. They have nice turf and grass fields and stands and covered seating for fans. Shorter fences so kids are hitting bombs all week. Kids stay in the bunkhouses in the players village with coaches, and security is pretty tight about when they can come and go and where they can go. People without authorization also cannot enter, so I think parents can feel a little more comfortable knowing their kids will be ok. Weather is very unpredictable from sweltering humid heat to thunderstorms, so bring sunblock, bug spray, and umbrellas and/or ponchos and rain gear. You will do a lot of walking and it is really hilly, but they do have trollies pulled by tractors and golf carts that can transport you if you're too tired to walk. Make sure you plan ahead as parking fills up fast. There should be some extra parking up on the upper lot, but you will have to walk pretty far or wait for the trolley. Kids had a blast playing ball, trading pins, and just hanging out with their teammates and other players from all across the country. My nephew also said the food they served in the dining hall was actually pretty good. There is also a hotel you can stay at on the site, but I think most people stay at Airbnb's or hotels just a few miles from the complex. We stayed at one about 1.5 miles away, and you're able to walk there, but again, check the weather before you take off. Not much else to do in Oneonta, but you can drive down to Cooperstown and go to the hall of fame. Again, pretty tiring experience if you're flying into Albany international airport as I don't think there are many direct flights so you will be waiting at several airports. The drive from Albany to the village is also about 1.5 hours, but it is a really pretty and scenic drive all around the area. I had a great time and I think most kids would agree it's a memory that they will always remember.

However-- this is a company, or a single entity, that is not acting in good faith as far as consumers. All of the hotels in the Oneonta, New York area charge exhorbitant summer rates because they can (because they are near the Cooperstown Baseball Camps-Baseball Hall of Fame, and near a college and university having graduations and summer orientation). This summer, 2025, for a single chain hotel room the pre tax and fee rate is about $388 per night. So upstate New York you are spending about $1000 for two nights. If they would let you. It is almost impossible for an individual traveler to get a room ahead for the summer. Going on line you read "unavailable". Calling- They say they do not yet "have the rates" even when it is less than a year away you are trying to reserve a room for. I suspect they may be holding out for groups that rent the whole hotel for week long bloc stays, rather than allow a regular single traveler to reserve a room on line. So great hotel in Oneonta. in every way. Except for fair and respectful dealing with the individual summer traveler.

We had the suite and as soon as we walked into the room you can tell this hotel hasn't been taken care of in years & it has nothing to do with Covid. I had always seen this hotel in town and thought it was in a great location but it is deteriorating at a rapid rate. When I noticed the walls, floors and lamp shades all banged up I took a look at the bed sheets that were yellowed and full of stains. I was immediately ready to leave. The pictures and other reviews are completely misleading on the internet! This hotel also doesn't offer any type of grab and go breakfast when many other local hotels do despite the pandemic. No one expects a sit down buffet but to have nothing was strange especially when it has competing prices with the other local, well known hotels. So as soon as we saw this "luxury" suite we walked into, I was ready to leave however I wanted to give this place the benefit of the doubt and the front desk clerk took us to another junior suite. There were even more stains all over the carpet and the bedsheets and bath towels. It was repulsive. I'd rather sleep in my car. If that's how this hotel runs... I can't imagine what you DONT see. This is unacceptable and unsanitary. If we can visibly see so many disgusting stains I can't even imagine what we CAN'T see! Whatever you do - don't stay here! It is totally run down and it looks like it's just being abused for college kids to party in. There were only 4 cars in the parking lot when we got there and that should have been my first sign something was off. Every other hotel is beautiful in town with full parking lots which should have been a clue. It's not like this hotel was that much cheaper than the rest as they are all within the same price ranges. Unfortunately this place needs a complete renovation and needs new ownership immediately because it's obvious it's being completely neglected. The heart of Oneonta deserves better. I can't believe for $200 a night, there isn't breakfast. Even when there used to be breakfast, there were only 4 tables for patrons to eat at, which only fits 16 people max. There is an ice machine, but no water fountain or complimentary water bottles. There are many outlets and lights here and plenty of mirrors. There are both regular outlets as well as USB outlets, woohoo! This year's room has a jacuzzi, but no light on top of the jacuzzi. The television is a bit small.
