So, last year we made the trek up to Cooperstown to try something very different with railbikes. I wrote the below review on the Yelp page for the host railroad mostly because I was too lazy and couldn't be bothered to make a new listing for Rail Explorers. www.yelp.com/biz/the-cooperstown-and-charlotte-valley-railroad-milford Enter 2022 and we made another trip to Cooperstown. Why? In their 2nd year here, Rail Explorers expanded their offerings to do night rides. Let me expound: Last year was Rail Explorers first year in Cooperstown and they started with a six mile ride north towards Cooperstown that ends sort of in the middle of nowhere along the Susquehanna River and at an out of service bridge. This year they offer a new ride that takes you four miles south towards Portlandville and also ends in the middle of nowhere along with Susquehanna. But where the ride excels is if you book the Fireside Tour they have a fire pits that they light along with some Adirondack Chairs which makes for great smore making. Also on the way back expect to see thousands of fireflies and we got double lucky with some nearby 4th of July fireworks getting shot off. Truly one of a kind visuals when it's that dark out in the middle of the country. The set up for this is easy. You go to their site (www.railexplorers.net/book/cooperstown/search), enter the number of people, find a date and pay. You'll get an email with some easy waivers to fill out and then you just show up. The lot for the Cooperstown and Charlotte (the host railroad) doesn't have a ton of spaces but we've never had an issue. Inside the station they have a small museum, tons of Rail Explorers merch and there is a rest room trailer out in the parking lot. IME and from looking at their website, even in the middle of summer right now aside from Saturdays you can book times same day or a day or two prior without issue. Why? When you get here you'll see. Milford is in the middle of nowhere. Note, unlike the rides they do in Vegas that are year round or the rides that a different company does in Cape May that go until December, it's daily during the summer and then Thursday-Monday in September & October. Let me say this, we've done railbiking now with three different companies and Rail Explorers is easily the best in terms of the locations they have, the staff they hire, the safety measures in place and the overall ROI experience. Having done both rides in Cooperstown do we have a reason to come back? Not really but in the near future we're hoping to get to their other locations in Newport, RI and upstate NY.

First time on any Rail Explorers experience. Totally professional & nice from reservations to explanations at time of event. Plenty of staff on hand and on ride who all knew their roles well. ( Really earned the full 4 Stars based on its staff who was the best...I do give 1\2 star ratings ya' know....good to be the king) Equipment was clean and in great shape. We took the Milford 12 mile course since it started at 9am and wanted to start our days here. It turned out to be a good choice in the summer since it is still somewhat cool that early. These carts can get up to close to 10 miles per hour so the cool breeze is awesome. Great workout even though it is electric- assist. Not strenuous at all. One person will have to be the anchor person ( must always pedal for it to go & the brake person) One thing though, there aren't too many sights on this track. We didn't see any wildlife, mostly trees and a few farms. Still something different. Must be beautiful in the Fall Look on Rail Explorers website for many locations throughout the world.

Once we got moving, the views were unreal. The autumn leaves were gorgeous, there's some water views, and later on, the stars were incredible. The stop for hot cocoa and marshmallows was such a cute touch, and honestly perfect for warming up a bit. Sitting there burning smores and laughing with my team felt very wholesome in the best way. I also really appreciated how low-impact this was. I'm pretty out of shape and deal with back issues, and I had zero discomfort the entire time. It was a beautiful fall night and such a memorable experience. I'd absolutely come back again, but bring my partner with next time.

We were looking for dog friendly places to take my pup and this sounded like a fun way to explore…read morethe area! Your dog must be leashed for safety reasons (obviously) - they provided a floor mat so he had a comfy place to sit while we pedaled. After a brief safety presentation, you basically just take off. I do wish they provided some audio narrations about the area as you passed by it, but you are basically left to your own devices. The view was nice - you go through a forest and then are next to the river, so you get a good mix of views. The rail does go through a residential area, so be mindful of your noise! At the end of the rail, they make everyone get off for around 15-20 minutes so they can turn the carts around. The tour does take 2 hours so plan accordingly. They do provide hot drinks while you are waiting for your tour time to begin, but I wish they provided some snacks too. Bathrooms are very clean and they have a fire pit to keep you warm!

Her van is very comfortable, clean and full with service items for us to use, such as hand sanitizer, boots, bags, cooler bags. Incredible service!!! The tour is not only fun, but so educational and inspirational. We got to meet the owners of each farm, and learn their stories and see their operation, even see how they make things happen. So inspirational!!! Thanks to Lindsey's fantastic tour. We all enjoy very much. I would recommend whoever wants to get a break from the city to be in the farm for a day. Book a tour with Table to Farm Tours. It is totally worth it.

LOVED THIS EXPERIENCE! So very much worth it…read more Kevin and Lindsay picked us up in their shiny new van (new car smell!) that could fit a family of rhinoceroses and from there we were off to the races for an evening of wine tastings and a homemade literal farm to table fried chicken dinner that was insanely delicious, overlooking the catskills. This is owned and operated by a farm-to-table-loving husband and wife team; they are both extremely affable and deeply informative on the surrounding areas and history of the Catskills. Learned some incredible facts: ask about the ford dealership that struck a deal with Henry Ford himself! There is some time in the van between tastings, as expected, but the views are gorgeous and the company was great. They have multiple tour options so we'd definitely do this again when we visit. Thank you both!

Our tour guide was very sweet and made sure we were all comfortable during the two hour ride. They also have Eco tours, which we could definitely tell she was into. A smaller lake close by was closed off completely due to a deadly algae, which she then collected algae from the lake and took the sample under a microscope and invited anyone to come check it out. Her interest made it that much more personable and I enjoyed it. Not the bad algae though, obviously. She even offered to take pictures for us. The sunset was beautiful and on the way back we saw some water falls. Something to consider before booking. The difference between this sunset cruise and the Charter sunset cruise is because it is more private with 6 passengers per tour at a higher rate and starts at 6:30pm-8:30pm with daily cruises available, whereas Ithaca boat tours allows up to 24 people starting at 7:30pm-9:30pm with cruises only on Friday/Saturday. We didn't mind if there was going to be more people on board, but there were only about 8 of us on the boat that night anyway. I also like that it starts at a later time so we could relax and get a nice meal beforehand. I would recommend this tour. Don't forget it's BYOB! Have fun!
