We'll kept property with a great view for the price! Nice pool and hot tub. Had everything we needed. Did not disappoint. Seen wild horses every day and only 1 1/2 mile a from boat ramp for sounds side access! read more

Our experience with Twiddy was one of delight with all aspects. We planned a family reunion and contacted Twiddy to help find a venue. I think we were very fortunate to find one of the finest places that was available in Duck and Twiddy made the process very smooth from beginning to end. It was our first time renting a house for a full week at the Outerbanks so there were many questions about the house, the area, the weather, etc., etc. We never had a problem reaching a Rep and getting the answers to the questions we had. Check-in was quick and included a small gift for all the Mother's in our group since it was their Day (May 8th). There was some maintenance that had to be done at the house and began before our arrival but they were very careful not to inconvenience anyone. Five Stars all the way. read more

Canadians Beware! I am not sure why but Twiddy is the ONLY rental company on the OBX to refuse to provide rental insurance to Canadians. When they told me this, I contacted all their major competitors (21) and they all told me "You have to be kidding?" They may just have a cheap crappy insurer but he effect is they treat Canadians (and anyone else from outside the United States) as second class renters. For this reason alone, I would avoid them. Best not to find out how else they will mistreat us. read more

Never rent through this company. They don't respond, overcharge, dirty properties, everything is broken. Absolutely horrific. And a tiny compensation we received for our stay that doesn't even touch what we spent or how we were treated. read more

we just finished staying at a Twiddy rental in Corrola NC. we have always used them in the past but this rental was very subpar. we went without a fridge and freezer on the main floor the entire week and had to go down stairs to first floor to use that fridge. we had AC problems on second fooor where the majority of sleeping areas were. we had problems with the elevator and plumbing issues and the theater room projector wasn't working correctl. we spent the whole week calling daily and having to deal with repair people disturbing our vacation. Their excuse for not refunding us a substantial amount of money for the inconvenience is that they responded quickly to our complaint. That is not the point. when you spend thousands of dollars on a rental you should not have to deal with repairs that should have been taken care of prior to your arrival. not happy this time around! read more

Twiddy being unforgivably greedy in face of COVID 19 closings Twiddy is refusing to change their cancellation policy for upcoming rentals in OBX, despite being in midst of a panendemic. NC closed it state park and facilities today, and the US has advised a ban on gatherings over 10 people. Movies, restaurants, etc are being forced to close to in house services state by state. We're all taking a financial hit; it looks like Twiddy is willing to risk the spread of a highly contagious disease in order for them to stay as solvent as possible during a time of crisis. I'm entirely willing to take a gift certificate for a future rental, pay a cancellation fee; but they are insisting that unless they can re rent it, we are "stuck" with the rental for early April. So they're either going to encourage a family to travel during a time of national health crisis, or try to entice someone else to do so. Bottom line is their dollar I guess. How sad. read more

Twiddy was very easy to deal with. They answer the phone and are a pleasure to deal with. I booked somewhat last minute and it was a breeze. Checkin and communication was excellent. Home was ready early. A minor maintenance issue was taken care of the next day. Would definitely use Twiddy again. read more

We have used Twiddy for five weekly rentals in the Outer Banks, NC. We have been extremely pleased with every aspect of our vacation experience, ranging from searching for the ideal house, to booking and follow up emails, to reminders as the vacation approaches and finally through check in and on site maintenance. During one of our rentals we ran into an issue with the gas grill. We called the Twiddy office and on site maintenance person showed up quickly. After listening to our concerns and looking at the grill the maintenance person told us he would be back soon to fix. To our surprise he showed up an hour later with a brand new grill. It is my impression that companies truly earn loyalty by how they react when there is a problem. From my experience Twiddy has customer service down. When you think of the number of houses that Twiddy is renting every week in the summer and all of the potential problems I can say that I very pleased with our experiences. read more

If you are renting at OBX, BEWARE. Please reconsider renting with Twiddy & Co. My 82 year old father, 77 year old mother, 81 year old uncle and I rented A Gift of the Sea home that has a house ramp and elevator to suit the elderly's needs. Twiddy false advertised on the Home Details page when writing that " ..a convenient sand path leads you and your guests EFFORTLESSLY to the beach....." There was no way to get the elderly to and from the beach effortlessly. We left the home 4 days early and actually lost around $726.00; as Twiddy said they could not do anything about the path and blamed it on Hurricane Dorian. I understand that the hurricane could have caused the path to become a soft sand hill but Twiddy did not care to contact me prior to our 6 hour road trip from Charlotte, NC, to tell us that the path was no longer an EFFORTLESS walk to the beach. I called Twiddy upon arrival and was given excuses from the beginning. I asked for a refund of some sort and was denied. Since my departure, Twiddy has changed the wording in the Home Details. I will NEVER rent from Twiddy and Co. Again and advise you not to rent from Twiddy. read more

Twiddy - Vacation Rentals Near Me - Duck, North Carolina

We've been vacationing on the OBX for 25 years, multiple times per year, and renting almost exclusively from Twiddy for the past 15 or so. Staff is warm and friendly, promptly responsive to requests. We have literally never had anything to complain about, ever, and that's almost unheard of these days. read more

This was my first time using Twiddy at the OBX. I WILL NEVER use them again. I had my wedding planned for May 17, 2020. I called once the COVID -19 started. At first they could not give me any information about my rental. Which I understood at first b/c all of this was new to us. This whole virus thing. They gave me the run around for 2 months. Then on April 29, 2020 they told me that my house could be transferred to another week later that year to COVID-19. Then on May 8th they informed me that I would have to come on May 16th one due to the home owner not allowing me to change and two b/c they would not help me change. It was clearly stated on their website which i have documentation for that I could change my week with the same house at any time. Not only did they force my hand in to coming. They then told me I could do early check in. They could not give me a time b/c they said they need to take extra measures to clean. Which I understood. Then they text me at 10 in the morning on the day of arrival and state my rental was ready and I could check in. Granted I had a 6 hour drive. Then they never sent the door lock code. I wait and called. We finally got the door code at 3 pm. They did not return my call until TUESDAY to make sure I got into the house. WORSE experience EVER EVER. I would definitely not recommend. read more

Very Poor housekeeping. Beds were not made blankets & pillows just thrown in closets. Had to wash bedding because they did not smell clean at all. Broken toilet, light bulbs out, cock roaches & spiders all over. Cobwebs everywhere, light over dinning room table looked covered with cobwebs. looks like it is never cleaned. Dirty carpets. 6 chairs by pool were broken. Garbage left in dresser drawers, (dirty feminine product's) disgusting ! Garbage around the pool & under the bar in pool area. Patio table dirty with food. Grill disgustingly dirty, could not use. Hot tub not clean. No one ever came at all through the week to clean pool or hot tub. Many things were broken through out the house. They definitely do not go over the houses after guest leave. VERY POOR HOUSEKEEPING & VERY POOR MAINTENANCE. Would NOT recommend Twiddy. read more

Twiddy has a great selection of homes and they really work hard to provide excellent customer service, even through Covid. The homes we rent have had either zero or very minor issues, which were always addressed promptly and courteously. Process from deposit to departure was seamless. We heart Twiddy! See you next year! read more

My husband and I got married in August '14 and we rented out The Three Authors: The Mark Twain, The Hemingway, and The Fitzgerald. They're up in the 4x4 area and have 45 rooms between the three of them. The Houses: Gorgeous!!! Wow. They are mansions on the beach. Despite their size, they were still somehow warm and inviting. Each room was unique and all had fun, beachy colors, flat screen tv's, and had either private or shared (between two rooms) full baths. Each house had a pool deck and two of them had cabanas that we used as our full bars all week. We got married on the pool deck of The Hemingway (stage and all) and it was absolutely perfect. Twiddy: We love Twiddy. Everybody who works there is so kind, professional and I feel like I got to know each of them - particularly Samantha, Christine, and Lydia. They were wonderful! And they were eager to help me with each question or concern I had. Check-in was so easy and check-out was (while devastating) easy as well. Chuck, who owns the houses, was so helpful and willing to work with us and answered all the specific questions we had for him. Shane, the caretaker, was awesome and helped us throughout the week with odds and ends. Overall, we LOVE Twiddy and we LOVE those three houses. We plan on having a reunion in a few years and will absolutely be renting these houses through Twiddy again. read more

This stay was terrific! Twiddy went above and beyond for all questions or comments! Looking forward to another vacation next year!!!!

I am appalled by this company. Given the current crisis, I had to cancel my wedding. My parents rented through this company to stay the last week in April. Given the recent "stay at home" order, I advised my parents to stay home instead of traveling to see me (They live across the country). Twiddy stated that, even though there was a stop movement mandated by the government, they would not be refunding my parents because "the order could be lifted". I am also a doctor, and I found this ridiculous. They are basically telling my elderly parents that they must travel DESPITE the current health care crisis. It is as though there is no common sense. I rented through VRBO and got my money back as soon as I asked without issue. I would recommend renting through VRBO in the future read more

The outer banks, Carova Beach is our family go to spot for vacation. We have been going there for several years. We usually go all out when it comes to renting a home for a week. We rented Bubba's Beach house week 10/11/20 thru 10/18/20. Our first impression upon arrival was not good to start. There was torn up covers of some sort and a frame of a table just laying there as we pulled into the driveway. As we entered the home our impression seemed to improve. The entry way was nice. After settling in we started to look around to get a feel of the house we would be staying in for the next week with our child and dog. To start the house was visibly NOT CLEAN. The refrigerators had gunk down them and the inside was no better. We opened the door to the top deck to be greeted by dog poop left along just about the entire side deck. Yes, we contacted Twiddy they offered compensation and never got back to us!!!! I sent them video and pics of cleaning it up, but yes they never reached out other than my initial sending of video and pics. On other areas of deck there was peeling paint with a display of mold underneath. There is no way a person could sit in that area comfortably. To top it off there were ripped up patio chairs. Now lets get to the inside of the house: All rooms were nice sized, beds were good and accommodating space for clothes, etc. However the carpets had large stains thru out them. I'm my opinion the top floor needs to be redone. Around the windows/door in the bedroom was a display of mold. The house also had a intense odor of food once cooked. The odor lasted the entire week. The rest of the rest was nice but seemed like no one stays in the other floors. I could go on and on. read more

Twiddy's Fountain House of Horrors - Rented the Fountain House for our family's beach week in OBX from Twiddy the last week of August this year. The home's photographs on the Twiddy site are minimally 5 years old, if not 10 and the property is nothing short of dilapidated with years of deferred maintenance. https://www.twiddy.com/outer-banks/corolla/whalehead/rentals/the-fountain-house/?var=1&utm_expid=.7GJIx_60RG6IwX0pcZ9CvA.1&utm_referrer=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.google.com%2F All that landscaping is long dead, the fountain is non-operational. From a completely inoperable "theatre room" with wires everywhere, speakers ripped from the walls, mold in the cabinets, mold in bathroom tile and on the wall, ripped window screens, damaged furniture, old sagging mattresses, rotten wood siding, broken ice makers, the list goes on and on. Twiddy offered a $1,000 refund and finally added a $500 credit for future rentals which we refused on principle. To their credit, Twiddy tried to do some of the quick repairs, but the home needs much, much more than 2 days of random maintenance. My family of course pulled out a nice week despite the house, but after 7 separate family trips to OBX, this one left us sorely disappointed. read more

My extended family and my immediate family have used Twiddy for over 14 years so I'm disappointed to be writing this. We have had problems with the house not being cleaned or things being broken in the past few years and it's always so hard to get it fixed and you have to fight tooth and nail for any kind of discount refund but my experience this past September really did me in and now I view Twiddy as an unprofessional, uncaring company with not one ounce of good customer service. When we arrived at our house, it was dirty with dead bugs and cobwebs hanging down in all the bedrooms, the chairs in the breakfast area were shedding foam pieces constantly but we were willing to overlook that and deal with it. Then we saw the huge long hole cut out of the wall and left open where little ones could put their hands down or ruin the tubing and cause problems and we called. Long story short, I've been in contact with multiple people and tons of calls and emails. I was apologized to and assured that it should've been done before our arrival and that they already had pictures because the repairman had taken them and left it and I would get a discount so look for an email in a couple days. Then I called them again to make sure a case was open with the resolutions team and I was assured it was but I would have to wait til after my trip. I politely said no to someone coming to fix it because I didn't want to increase my risk for Covid by having a repairman in the house nor be waiting around or being woken up or the little ones woken up by him coming since it was by the bedrooms. This is a vacation after all, am I right? After our trip, I contacted them and received an email back saying we have no information about any problem at all so I had to go into details all over again. That's where my mind was blown- no info and only me inquiring about a discount for some unknown reason? Seriously Twiddy? Then I received an email back saying that I declined the repair so I had to write them back again and explain the above reasons I mentioned here a d all the other conversations I had with Mary, Scarlet, and another young lady. Now I believe they wait til after the stay to hope that you forget about your problem and won't fight it. I said I wanted the discount ASAP and that Twiddy is showing themselves to be extremely unprofessional and inconsistent and now liars. Things seemed to have changed and worsened last year to this year. I'm still waiting to hear back from them and have been so stressed by the situation during the stay and after. It should've been resolved and customer service should stay on top of things so you don't have to call and email over and over. I was assured of my discount over and over and now I'm having to fight them. I still haven't received any portion of refund. How unprofessional! I don't feel like a customer they care about. I am recommending that my family rent our big oceanfront house elsewhere in May 2022 and my immediate family will be finding a new company. I rented from Sun Realty long ago with great service so I will probably use them now. Even if I have to pay a little more, it will be worth it for a stress free vacation. Looks like they are driving customers away. Our other vacation will be September of 2022 and we will not be renting form Twiddy. It won't let me post the photo for some reason but the opening is all the way down the wall with only a few inches on top and bottom. All tubing exposed and nothing patched up. There was even more calls and talking throughout this experience but those are the basics if you can believe it. Not worth it! read more

We have rented through Twiddy for the past 10 years, and this house was disgusting. Our family rented the 6-bedroom "The Seashine" and have never been more disappointed in a rental from Twiddy. Bugs were all throughout the house, including the beds. Nails were found in the parking area, which was not only an issue for our pets, but for the children in the family. The grill did not work, causing us to make new dinner plans at last minute; which don't let me forget, the stove also had 1 working burner. The refrigerator was the size of an apartment fridge, we had to buy ice continuously to keep our food in coolers. The washing machine did not work. The water pressure in the showers was basically non-existent; the water just trickled out. The survey was taken that they send out after a stay, and they never contacted me about it despite checking the box to be contacted. It took me over 2 weeks to get into contact with management to bring up my concerns over the house and how dissatisfied I was with our stay. Their response was to send me an email at 6:01pm on a Friday (so after business hours and the start of a weekend) to say there was nothing further they could do for me besides refund my cleaning fee for that house ($120) and give me a $200 credit towards another stay since I did not bring up any issues during our weeks stay. Renting a $7,000 beach house should not be as poorly kept as this house was, and the customer service of trying to get it resolved is extremely poor. What is the point of doing a feedback survey if it makes 0 difference? Maybe Twiddy should send out that survey the day of check-in to ensure their customers are happy and follow through with their claim of "Family owned & operated providing quality service and Southern hospitality for over 40 years." I would NEVER recommend anyone rent with Twiddy. We will continue to visit the Outer Banks, but not through Twiddy. read more

Horrible experience with this company!!! If I could give them 0 stars I would. Traveled with 3 other families from NY to what we thought was going to be a pleasant and relaxing vacation, turned out to be anything but that! After traveling over 9 hours all we wanted was to get into our house and start our vaca but we couldn't because at 4pm the 'cleaning crew' was still there cleaning up from.the previous group. The house was disgusting.. floors were filthy, fridge was broken, dead bugs squashed on all the widows, ants in the rooms, pool dirty and murky, list goes on and on. The crew they hired to clean did a horrendous job, they were vacuuming with a broken vacuum that wasn't even working! We called the company to tell them the house was deplorable and we could not stay there and that we wanted to be moved into another house which they told us it was not possible, they had no other houses available. We had no choice but to stay and ended up cleaning the house ourselves from top to bottom that took us hours with our own supplies!! Everyday there was another problem and everyday we called to complain only to be told somebody was coming but no one ever did. All we really wanted was a nice pool for our kids to swim, and not be afraid for them to go in but they did nothing about it. For $12,000 you would expect everything to be just right especially a functioning, clean pool but we were extremely disappointed and felt completely ripped off. After 3.months negotiating with this company to get some sort of reprieve and money back they barely offered a 1/10th of what we paid. Pitiful and now we are talking to lawyer to help recoup some of the loss we experienced since Twiddy told us there was nothing more they could do for us. Beware of what you get with this company!! We will NEVER use them again and are warning everyone we know who are looking to vacation in the outer banks! read more

Twiddy - Mound of ants in bedroom window sill.. beyond disgusting - Vacation Rentals Near Me - Duck, North Carolina

My friends and I just got back from a vacation in North Carolina's Outer Banks and stayed at an amazing Twiddy home right on the beach (the Ocean Pearl). Twiddy & Co. showed us excellent customer service and truly cared that we were enjoying our experience in the Outer Banks. (Ex. Our house's pool was cleaned daily, fresh linens were brought before needed, we were told the best spot to enjoy authentic NC BBQ, and much more!) I would absolutely rent with Twiddy again and highly recommend them to anyone looking to vacation in Outer Banks! read more

We stayed at Sunrise Symphony 121 Salt House Rd Corolla, NC in OBX. It's the most disgusting house you could rent and we've been renting for 20+ years. Twiddy has been completely unresponsive and left us being general contractors all week to get the house cleaned, toilets fixed, shower water draining, pool table fixed, decks power washed and everything else you can imagine when a house has been neglected for months on end. Don't rent this house and don't use Twiddy to manage your homes. read more

RATS inside and outside the house. We opened the grill and a huge rat jumped out! Piles of rat poop on all decks, around the pool in the outdoor bar area. Moldy ceiling and vents blowing black mold onto you day and night. Broken shower stall with duct tape holding the handicap bar. 2 refrigerators , both ice cube dispensers not working. Broken cabinet door in kitchen. Most exterior light fixtures broken. Windows so dirty you can't see out of them. Broken or moldy, dirty chairs around pool . Twiddy came to address the rat problem and put rat traps out by the pool where our 5 year old could stick her hand and get her fingers amputated. They did this AFTER we told them not to put traps where children had access. When we got home rat poops were found in our vehicle, so apparently we took one home and now I may have them in my home. Twiddy failed so miserably. The property is in poor shape and you don't address the rat problem safely and effectively. read more

DO NOT RENT WITH TWIDDY IF YOU WANT A RELAXING VACATION!!! It was one of the worst beach house rental experiences I've ever had. We rented a large 7 bedroom home in Duck. The interior was nice, but not entirely cleaned upon arrival. We found old clothes and trash on the floor. There was red wine spilled on the kitchen floor when we arrived, but the interior was nothing compared to the exterior. It was like a scene from the movie Arachnophobia. There were three decks that were completely unusable because there were hundreds of spiders. They were crawling everywhere on every piece of outdoor furniture, around every door, covered the ceilings. It was disgusting! We immediately called Twiddy when we arrived and continued calling them for 4 DAYS! We arrived on Saturday, Monday evening a man came with a brush to "brush away" hundreds of spiders, that did nothing. This man said they had known about the spiders for a month. If you've had this information for a month wouldn't you be spraying the house with pesticides every time a new renter arrives. We called Tuesday morning because the spiders were still out of control. I was promised a call back with an ETA for pest control, there was never a return call. I called back 4 hours later and was promised pest control would come, they would power wash the decks, and cut the brush back. Pest control came and sprayed parts of the deck, but seemed to miss many spider infested spots. No one ever came to power wash the decks or cut the brush back. The house next to us used Joe Lamb realty and we saw their house being power washed twice during their stay to keep the spiders away. DO NOT TRUST TWIDDY! They were not helpful after multiple complaints, I will never use them to rent again!!! read more

Poor customer service. My daughter had her wedding at one of their rentals, which was advertised as an event house. The lawn where we had the reception was lush green in pictures and dirt when we arrived. We had to have the reception on the dirt, which made for a horrible background for photos. Air conditioning was out in 10 of the 24 bedrooms. She paid to have the pool heated (it was the last week of September) and they don't turn the heater on u til you arrive and it took 2 of our 6 day vacation to get warm enough to swim. The air conditioning in her bridal suite was out, so they used duck taped and cardboard to run an air conditioner out of her door onto the deck leaving her suite only closed off by cardboard to anyone outside on the decks. She had numerous communications with Twiddy, who told her to give them 24 hours to send someone out to resolve the issues. Her wedding day came and went and she never heard back. It has been 60 days with her continuing to contact them. They offered her a $250 refund on the rental she paid $17,000 for. read more

After having an amazing visit last year we booked again for this year... went from the highest high to the lowest low. House was dirty when we arrived. surfaces were sticky, even the tv remote was gross. Sticky handprints all over the windows. Vents and ceiling fans had dust literally hanging off them. Shower curtains were moldy. Washer was moldy AND stunk horribly. We spent our first hour there cleaning the "clean" house. Then we get the wonderful surprise that NEITHER refrigerator was working properly. Lost over $100 in groceries. Called the emergency number that night and was told someone would call by 9am. At noon when I finally called Twiddy, they said they would send someone out. The fix was to bring us bags of ice for coolers and they scraped up a dorm fridge. We then waited another 3 hours for a cleaning crew to come out and re-clean the house and change out the moldy shower curtains. They were there for 45 minutes, took a good shower curtain down, and left the moldy ones in. Wiped down the table and counters (after we did it the night before), and left. Had to go back into the office to get new shower liners ourselves on our next trip back off the beach to feed our group of 13 because we no longer had the capability to store groceries and eat at the house. We ended up having to buy an extra large cooler from Harris Teeter (not the cheapest place to get those) to store some food, use one broken fridge an ice box by putting bowls of ice in it to keep it somewhat cool. Half way through the week they bring another smaller new fridge and put it on the bottom floor to give us something, which effectively cut out being to use the pool table that we look forward to every year. All in all an exceptionally poor experience. But Twiddy was gracious enough to provide a $250 refund to compensate for our inconvenience. Been traveling to OBX for years, and this past experience has made it abundantly clear that there is no reason to consider booking with Twiddy again, nor consider as a property management company for my vacation home when we purchase. Thank you for making my decision to book elsewhere for next year that much easier. read more

This is our 4th tear renting through Twiddy, and this time we've had several "oops" moments with our house (gate broke, grill wouldn't light, washing machine stopped working) and they happily and efficiently handled each of our requests. After many years of renting premier homes this is our first with Twiddy realty. We rented Lighthouse Twelve in Corolla for week of May 12. It was a beautiful home and the owner paid great attention to detail, however Twiddy did not. I called Twiddy 4 days in a row with problems. Upon arrival at 4:15 all 5 trash cans were sitting out front over flowing with garbage on the ground, ovens were dirty, pool was filled with sand, dog poop in front of fire pit, chairs with no slip covers, beds with no quilts, no patio furniture on middle decks (it was all on the ground level under the house). They came day 1 and cleaned the oven. Day 2 nothing. Said pool would be cleaned on day 3. Day 3 still no trash pick up and now it was all over the yard do to the crows and the wind, the lady who over sees the development came and told us to pick up the trash and when she was told it was from previous renter she instructed us to call Twiddy again, which I already had. Day 3 pool heat was turned off after pool was cleaned and we paid for heat. Took them 24 hours to come back. We had to carry the furniture up to the middle decks ourselves. Trash was finally taken mid week. Day 4 elevator not working. No one ever came to fix it. Still wasn't working when we left. It was a very bad experience to say the least. I talked to 4 or 5 different Twiddy employees to get issues resolved. I would not recommend Twiddy to anyone. Renting premier ocean front homes is not cheap and the level of professionalism that we are accustomed to by other realestate companies far exceeds Twiddys. Twiddy not only let us down they are doing a grave injustice to the home owner. read more

Been renting for years without issues ... this year we had awful service!! The house (SUNRISE SYMPHONY) was left in such poor condition (roof leaks, outside filthy, pool was not cleaned, broken furniture, spider eggs everywhere, no Wifi, etc...) and Twiddy did next to nothing to fix our issues. We'll be looking into other options next year. Very disappointed!! read more

We've rented Twiddy vacation homes on the northern Outer Banks for over 20 years and they have always been wonderful to work with. Our last trip was this past August, when we stayed in Corolla for two weeks. It was the first time we had rented that particular vacation home and it had everything we needed. The house and the location were perfect for our group of ten. We were also able to check in early at the Twiddy office in Duck, which helped us beat the traffic. If you've ever had a Saturday check-in during the summer months, you know how important it is to get across the bridge early. We're from Richmond, VA and are lucky to only have a 3-hour drive to the Outer Banks. This short drive allows us to make the trip a couple of times a year, so we have lots of experience with vacation rental companies down there. Most of them are very professional and have nice beach homes, but Twiddy is our favorite. They have also many more homes in their program than they did just a few years ago. My takeaway from all of the rental experiences we've had with this company over the years is that they have great houses, friendly office staff and do everything they can to make your vacation relaxing. We'll be down for two more wonderful weeks in July and I can't wait to get on the beach. read more

We have stayed at Duck for 5 years now in August, 3 times with Twiddy (give them a 95% A rating). Always happy with them from start to finish. First year (2013) was with Joe Lamb, and honestly, as we found out, they have the "economy" houses that are just old and not in the best areas. Clean and friendly staff, but not very good properties. Then we spent 3 years (2014, 2015, 2016) with Twiddy and all of the houses (1 was 4 houses from beach and other 2 were on beach) were pretty great. They did not have bugs, were clean, and had very little mildew; great locations too. It seemed the properties were kept up better than others, both inside and out. Outside yards need work but most houses (4-5 bedroom ones) have kind of bla yards. The staff is great and the prices are pretty good. The only negative is that for the price, they should include sheets/towels like most of the other companies. It is a pain to have to bring that stuff with us, especially large families. They offer that and would be 100% A+ fantastic! (FYI, stayed with Brindley Beach 2017 due to a schedule/last-minute issue and that was the worst ever and overpriced with a disgusting house that scared us to sit, shower, or sleep anywhere), so will look for Twiddy next year....and hopefully sheets/towels could be included :) read more

Have rented with Twiddy several times in past and they were ok but latest time is very disappointing. The house that we rented (well over $6000 for N050) appeared to be in good condition from the pictures and was similarly priced to others we rented. We got there and the house was in very poor condition. We live 8 hours away and go went with Twiddy assuming they have some standards. VRBO owners tend to be much more accountable. Other realtors grade the quality of rentals. Twiddy has been responsive to fix things that were completely broken but have failed to take accountability for the overall poor condition. I would recommend going with a realtor who actual knows there properties and takes accountability. It is not about the money. I would have gladly paid more if I knew how bad this was. read more

Continually great service from Twiddy. We've been using them for years, and they've never let us down. Houses are always in tip-top shape and very clean. Keep it up, Twiddy! read more

How has my vacation been?!? We walked in to a weird smell on the bottom floor. Turned on all the lights and a new smell appeared, like something burning. We found a hat on fire inside of one of the light sconces on the top floor! We could have walked to the beach and returned to a vacation home in flames. @twiddyobx sent a wine & cheese basket to apologize but 4 days in still refuses to come fix this house #CompassRose in #PineIslandOBX. There are nails sticking out of my headboard which I wrap in a washcloth while we sleep. We bought a drain snake so that I could finally shower indoors after I pulled about a years worth of other people's hair out of my shower drain (where there is also mold on the shower curtain liner). They claim they're cleaning extra because of #covid but the air filter is so disgusting I doubt it's been changed since we stayed here 2 years ago. The missing crib was delivered the day we arrived after our first complaint, and a cleaning lady came day 3 to scrub some mold from a shower but didn't have the tools to clean the clogged drain. #twiddyobx sent a headboard for another room that the last renters requested so congrats to whoever stays here next week! We changed the air filter for you and put the rug that smells like cat pee on the back deck! read more

See all

We arrived last Saturday for our week at the beach. Just prior to our arrival Twiddy called to say our rental property was struck by lightening the night before and unlivable with a huge hole in the roof. Twiddy searched their inventory for available properties and was able to find us a very nice property that wasn't in the town we wanted but had all the features we wanted. It was beach front with a pool. We were unable to get the early check in which we had already paid for so Twiddy refunded our money for that. They were extremely easy to work with, and made sure everything was fine with the new rental. We had a great time at the beach and house was great. I would definitely use Twiddy in the future. read more

Poor customer service! We have rented from many different property management companies in OBX. Twiddy was by far the worst when it came to customer service and follow through. The house we rented had a broken dishwasher. Things break and I understand. But I don't understand how you can promise a call back four different times and never return a single call once. There are many property management companies in Duck. I will certainly be choosing another company next time. read more
