BEYOND IMPRESSED! We think it's fair to say that planning a wedding is one of the more stressful and trying things that a couple may go through. But once that day arrives and the hard work falls behind you, and all you're left to do is stand in-front of your best friend and say "I do," you realize every bit of it was worth it... that for some odd reason... you want to go through it all over again. Which leads us to why the Twenty Mile House and its staff and vendors were beyond impressive! First things first... Rachel Mann. Our Coordinator, our advisor, our trusted leader through the wedding planning process. She simply made it easy. Her creativity, outstanding communication, firm guidance, organized file-sharing system, and overall calm, cool, and collected attitude on the wedding day, made us feel at ease. We knew if we forgot something, that Rachel had us covered. It's the comfort she created that alleviated the stresses and permitted us to enjoy "our day." The Twenty Mile House is a truly magical place... especially at night when the moon and stars come out, the lights turn on, and then a 10-ton train comes barreling down the tracks, commemorating your moment with a blow of the horn. It's the little (and big) touches around the venue that make all of the difference in the world. It's having your dearest friends and family staying on-site with you for the entire weekend. It's the friendly staff stopping to take a moment to say "good morning" and see how your day was going. It's that feeling of appreciation you have for the people working tirelessly to setup and breakdown the ceremony and reception site, the bar and coffee stands, or to do the groundskeeping. It really is the people, combined with this beautiful site, that make it an amazing wedding venue. One highlight for us was getting to attend the Wedding Fair. Wow, we had no clue when we picked the TMH that we would have so many vendor options! We were able to sample food by local caterers, listen to music from talented DJs and guitarists, preview table layouts and settings including floral displays, meet photographer/videographer teams, and spend a nice day walking the grounds and envisioning where things would go and how it may look on our day. We got married roughly 10 months after the Fair, but having had the chance to make many decisions early-on, especially on-site at the venue, allowed us to put together what we would say was a perfect day. We booked the entire TMH venue from Th-Sun;wedding was 7/25/15, total guest count ~50. TMH is eco-conscious, something we were specifically looking for.The wedding fairs are perfect, offering the opportunity to meet and select vendors, sample wares and work out details. TMH is gorgeous; grounds and buildings well equipped and maintained, upgraded "rustic"..like glamping in an antique setting. Pros - focus on sustainability. Super, squeaky clean.Scalable to many size events. Hot tub=awesome!! My mom had mobility issues & there's a room w/ walk in shower on the first floor.TMH staff went out of their way to help accommodate her.Great options for wedding decor and location with garden, beach and woodsy choices. Fully equipped buildings. Staff is awesome, great attitude. Nearby activities kept everyone occupied while wedding planning was happening. Perfect weather!!! Cons - many guests wouldn't make the trip and at least 10 of our guests didn't show up the day of the wedding (this is more about our guests than TMH). No cell service w ATT/Sprint, spotty with Verizon. Wifi was broken&caused considerable angst, esp w/teenagers. Due to the rustic feel of the location, guests sort of had "picnic attitude" at the wedding; for example, during the "first dance" most of the guests wandered away to play catch in the garden area. Vendors - If you expect urban-style service, this setup may add some stress to your planning. If you are ok w/ a more laid back, relaxed approach to planning and willing to wait a few days to hear back from folks, you'll have a more comfortable experience. TMH has cultivated an amazing group of service providers and we are grateful for their contributions! Music - Todd's a joy to work with and seemed to telepathically know what we wanted. Had an expansive selection of music, took requests, and did a great job as the event emcee. Flowers - one conversation with Sonia was all it took and she brought my Pinterest vision to life. The bridal party flowers and decor were beautiful. We wanted a rustic, succulent theme & the team did a beautiful job. Food - Pangea..fantastic to work with, great menu choices, rival any city fare. Hands down best wedding food we've ever had &guests agreed. They delivered appetizers to the wedding party during photos&popped over during dinner to see if we got enough..special touches that make a big difference. Organic, local food...we are fans. Cake - we had a smallish ceremony cake & a cheesecake bar. Connie at Quincy Cooking Cottage was easy and fun to work with,the cake was exactly (really really exactly) what we pictured; tasty,scrumptious&moist. Cheesecake bar was a hit, everyone went back for more! Hair/Makeup - Urban Angels from Truckee; did have to pay a travel fee - it was worth it Planning Tools - the event planning guide provided by TMH was perfect, walking me through everything. I used it as a guideline and created a Google doc with details, shared with TMH, vendors and wedding party. Vendors and wedding party loved it and used it, which is why I think they were able to bring our vision to life. Event Planning - wedding coordinator will answer questions&provide input, but the bulk of the planning, including menu, scheduling the vendor setup at the event, etc, is managed by the wedding party. Bride Support - Ashley was helpful throughout the big day with me personally as I was having some "bridal" challenges. My bustle kept coming undone and she was always there to help me fix it and rearrange myself. She smoothed over guest drama. She smuggled me from our getting ready spot to the staging zone without being "seen". The day goes by in a blur, so it was nice to have that kind of attention. She was a happy star for me during the day. Day of Event Management - we recommend appointing someone who is very organized and used to managing things to oversee the whole day. From decorating to shepherding the crowd, managing the timeline and keeping everyone engaged and on track - this would be something that would remove a lot of the stress from the bride and groom. For example, the check in table we had a pretty vintage suitcase with the programs and favors...it blew shut before anyone arrived& we ended up taking home most of the programs and favors we had worked so hard on. We went for our "sunset photos" by the train tracks and came back to discover our guests had helped themselves to the desert bar prior to cake cutting, then wandered off around the property.We needed another hand on deck during the day. Overall...gorgeous, wonderful and we would do it again in a heartbeat. The perfect spot for us! My new hubby summed it up pretty well - things we planned turned out exactly as (even better than) we'd hoped, and things we had challenges with we had no experience to plan for. read more

Every time we think about our wedding, we both smile from ear to ear. It was absolutely phenomenal & we could not be more grateful for Rachel Mann. She is the best wedding coordinator & helped make our entire weekend flawless. Rachel is incredibly knowledgeable, provided us the best support and answered the endless questions we had, in a timely manner. When we needed guidance, she provided suggestions and options, while clearly keeping our vision in mind. When our families met her at our rehearsal, they were very impressed with her professionalism, attention to detail, and ability to calmly instill trust. We were able to be fully present in our special day because we knew she had everything under control. All of the vendors we worked with matched this same level of professionalism and dedication. The best thing we did was trust their suggestions and input, they truly are the experts. Holly, with Pangaea, worked with us to create a diverse and personalized rehearsal dinner and reception menu for the weekend. Her food is absolutely delicious, her staff is very friendly. Our guests raved about both meals- we are so happy we worked with Holly. Sonia, with Weddings by Grays, produced elegant flower arrangements that enhanced the natural beauty of TMH. She understood the look we were going for and the end results were perfect. Mauve is a tricky color to work with and Sonia was able to create a look we was so proud of- and the alter fabric she hung was dreamy. She had all of the details down, from the location of petals down the aisle, to the asymmetrical design on the arch. Connie with Quincy Cooking Cottage provided us with a variety of options for our dessert table. She produced a beautiful and delicious spread of desserts, with brownies, personal fruit tarts and the best lemon bars we've ever tried. Our two tier cake was elegant and we are so excited to eat the top tier on our one year anniversary next summer. Our bar service was wonderful- we offered a full, open bar, with beer, wine, liquor and kegs from The Brewing Lair. The service was executed perfectly, there was never a line or an empty glass. Jason was fun and engaged with our guests, and stayed late after our rehearsal dinner to set up the fire pit for us all to enjoy. His fun, lighthearted personality made guests feel welcome. For music, we worked with Andrew Ohren who played acoustic guitar while guests arrived and for all of our ceremony music. He is so talented and the live music really created the ambiance we were hoping for. Our guests commented how beautiful it was to arrive to venue and hear him welcoming them. He provided helpful guidance when helping us plan, and you could tell he enjoys what he does. Todd, with Lionsmile Entertainment, DJ'd the rest of our day and he did an outstanding job. He was so much fun to work with, and you could feel he loves what he does. He read the crowd well, played based on their responses and helped create the perfect setting. In our reception pics the dance floor is always packed. Todd did a wonderful job in bringing our family and friends together to celebrate our love. From start to finish TMH is perfect. Everyone was truly dedicated to making our wedding day the most special it could be. Rachel Mann, the coordinator, makes the planning process so easy and she was so responsive to all of my emails! If you're interested in the venue, they have a wedding fair twice a year where you can meet the vendors. We actually booked without seeing the venue first (it was booking fast!) and are so happy we did!! Our guests had an amazing weekend in Graeagle and were able to do some hikes in the area. My fiancé found Twenty Mile House (TMH) online while looking for an all-inclusive, forest wedding venue in Northern California. Our first trip to TMH was in late January and there was still plenty of snow covering the grounds. Even then, we knew it was a special place. You could see the potential in every part of the grounds. We met with Rachael and walked all around the property. She was very friendly and welcoming. We quickly decided to book and found a date that worked for us later in the summer. Rachael let us know about the wedding fair which we attended. It was awesome!! Such a cool way to let the couples meet the vendors, taste the food, check out table settings and see the property if full spring bloom! If you book at TMH, go to the wedding fair! I will say that the "add on" option choices that are provided can be a bit overwhelming. You can get lost in the linen and napkin section easily. Rachael was great about working with my fiancé who wanted to create her own packages by combining certain options from a few different sections. These do give the wedding more of a custom feel, if that's what you're looking for. Ok, on to the wedding day!! I'm not sure where to start with my praise. The TMH was everything you'd expect and way more. They were attentive and always asking if we needed anything. Once you gave instructions on how you'd like something, it was almost as if the entire staff knew immediately. The decorations, the flowers, the tables, everything was exactly the way we had imagined it. These guys are good, like REALLY GOOD! We had a plate of appetizers and drinks waiting for us after the ceremony in the trackside cabin. Rachael said she wanted us to have a few minutes alone and just enjoy each other before the craziness of the reception. During the reception, the staff was constantly walking through to check if anyone needed anything. While at the same time clearing empty plates and drink glasses. My wife and I discussed afterwards that we would spend the money over and over again to have our day surrounded by family and friends at such a special place. The Twenty Mile House (TMH) is an amazing and magical, location, venue, and team! The decision to work with TMH to share our wedding vision was a no brainer, we had to book with them! When we first stepped onto the property, Rachel (the Wedding Coordinator) was friendly and listened to what we were looking for. We got a tour of the three beautiful ceremony locations, and they are ALL breathtaking! The vendors we chose that TMH had in their catalog, are ROCKSTARS (Southern Accent, The Cake Studio, Gray's Flower Garden, Wildsmile Entertainment)! Even vendors that TMH didn't have in their catalog, but had recommended (Composing Reality, 32 Degrees Media) are professional and awesome! TMH has an amazing wedding fair where their catalog vendors, recommended vendors, and new vendors can showcase their work. There are so many amazing OPTIONS! We met Talia Koval (Live Painting), and we knew had to work with her. My Wife follows them on Instagram and found out that Petite Street Mobile Bar previously got married at TMH, and we wanted to work with them! Rachel was very accommodating to work with them. We could not believe how perfect ALL of the vendors worked together! TMH is so accommodating and makes everything feel stressless, painless, easy, and seamless! They are very organized and work with online worksheets that can be viewed and worked on by all parties. They are easy to call, text, or email if you need to get a hold of them, and reply very quickly. They do all the setup and tear down of all decor. They have a great list of decorations, linen, etc, that will make your wedding vision come to life!. All of their staff are friendly, amazing, and make sure everything is perfect. We can't rate Twenty Mile House more than what we're allowed to! You and your guests on your wedding day will be in awe when they arrive! I'd like to clarify that the only justification for giving this place even 1 star is solely because the scenic ambience is excellent. The ground's keeper has earned this star, not the inadequate, ill-mannered, and discourteous individual that owns the Twenty Mile House; they're worthy of a negative score. The owner demonstrated a gross lack of hospitality and professionalism to not only my sister and her husband on the day of their wedding, but to their guests as well. He was curt and impolite when approached with questions. Insisted the doors to the main house be locked, insinuating the guests couldn't be trusted in the house to use the restrooms. At the end of the night many people were unable to get their coats, purses, and other personal belongings because they had been locked out of the house and the owner was nowhere to be found. Fortunately, a waiter was able to help. I wouldn't recommend this venue for weddings or other events to anyone. I feel it's not out of the question to expect a decent level of courtesy from the management when renting venues, and given the amount of money my sister and her husband had to pay for the day, I feel it's more than reasonable. read more

Overall the environment created by upper management is not one that cultivates the feeling that they really care about the wedding and the guests. It is an environment that makes you feel that priority number one is their bottom line. I simply cannot recommend getting married at this venue. The Twenty Mile House and its cabins was one of the most enjoyable places my girlfriend and I have stayed. The accommodations were very nice and I enjoyed the history and antiques of the Twenty Mile House, not to mention an awesome breakfast! Rachel and the ENTIRE team at Twenty Mile House were incredible. The following is an attempt to credibly document the ways in which they made our wedding day the best day ever. My (now) wife, and I are both the 'outdoors' type, and as such, we wanted to find a place where we could surround our guests with the colors, sounds, and feelings that made the two of us so happy. We live in Chicago, and my wife had anxiety about planning a wedding, let alone a wedding 3,000 miles away. Rachel and her team made this an absolute breeze from the jump. Whether it was the barrage of initial questions, or the finer late-stage details, Rachel was always on our side and ultimately had our best interests in mind. The bi-annual wedding fair was an incredible opportunity to see and sample what could and would eventually turn into the details our guests would rave about later. The experience of getting married was heavy enough, but the weight of each decision was made lighter by the guidance and experience of a team and venue that understands the gravity of the situation, and how to maximize such gorgeous surroundings in a way that seems effortless (it isn't, they're just that good). We cannot stress enough, the general importance of having a team of vendors so in tune with the unanimous goal of a wonderful wedding day, as what we found at Twenty Mile House. Every item was executed at the highest level, regardless of any options we chose to include or leave off. Not that it was our first consideration, but the value for this stellar experience cannot be understated. Beth and I were able to be a part of the festivities, rather than a part of the machine of the festivities. That made a world of difference. We chose Southern Accent for catering (though all options during the fair were delicious). We also had Cakes by Dee for dessert. We are still receiving complements on the food we chose! Pro Tips: * Trust Rachel * Trust Todd (DJ) * Consider a float trip on the property as a part of the festivities! * Consider having friends on site rather than older family members that might usually leave earlier * Encourage your guests to explore the area. Best Day Ever! I am still on cloud 9 as I am writing this. This place is truly magical. There is something very special about Twenty Mile House. Not only is it insanely beautiful but the staff went above and beyond to make sure our special day was perfect. It was worth every penny and exceeded my vision of my dream wedding. I have to say that all this wouldn't have been possible with the help of Rachel Mann. She is so amazing. She got things done and with excellent communication. She helped me from day one. She can execute a wedding blindfolded. I feel like I made a friend with Rachel and look forward to seeing her again. She made the day of my wedding go by so smoothly. She made the entire planning process easy and fun. Everything was executed without a hitch on the day of the wedding. She is an angel. We wanted to get married by the river but the weather was too hot so we got married in the forest instead. It was perfection. Rachel and the staff surprised us by taking our ground flower altar down to the river for sunset photos. I cried at the thoughtful gesture and was able to get the best of both worlds. They really care! I suggest going to their wedding fair and meeting the vendors! It was so fun! We had Andrew Ohren for cocktail hour on his guitar and he is so talented. We loved all our vendors! Holly at Pangea was a pleasure to work with and our food was so yummy! She was excellent to communicate with and we are very happy with our menu. My daughter is planning her wedding for June 2016 and several of us met with Kevin a few months ago to visit the property and set a date. My experience with Kevin was very positive and I'm a bit surprised by so many negative reviews below. I'm giving 4 stars now because we are still in the planning stages and have a long way to go until we make finite plans. Kevin was personable and easy to communicate with; I did not find him difficult at all. As a matter of fact, he was very accommodating. So far, he's the only person I have communicated with. The wedding coordinator, Ashley, has been doing her job by making resource information available to us. My son recently got married at Twenty Mile House and it was a fantastic day, beautiful venue, helpful and responsive wedding planner, and comfortable setting for our guests. Every thoughtful accommodation was made for our elderly grandmothers to enjoy the gorgeous Feather River ceremony site, parasols were loaned, and umbrellas were set up to block the sun. The all-inclusive wedding gave us high-quality vendors to choose from. Floral display on arch over the bride and groom was gorgeous, and food vendors all excellent, making it difficult to choose. We left a valuable camera behind and the manager was so pleasant, sending the camera to us immediately without charge. Excellent service. read more

Our favorite part of getting married at the Twenty Mile House was the beautiful spirit/vibe of those supporting our wedding: -Rachel was amazing at handling even the most challenging relatives. She is really enjoyable to work with, and also has a no-nonsense/let's get down to business attitude that is invaluable in a wedding coordinator! -Holly is a joy to work with and a remarkable chef! She made an amazing fully vegan meal for our welcome/rehearsal & reception dinners. Her food was so good that we even took leftovers home and were still savoring them on our honeymoon flight. -Todd was really great to work with as we figured out music. He even stopped by before the wedding to go over some of our last minute questions. And his tone while making announcements throughout the evening helped to cultivate an ambiance of warmth and togetherness. -Jason was incredibly supportive outside of his duties as the bartender. We had missed out on roasting s'mores during our reception and Jason stoked the fire and left it burning a while longer so we could snuggle by the fire with s'mores after our guests had all retired. -Danna was always delightful and attentive. She made sure the welcome dinner was a success and even offered me a hand down some uneven steps as I made my way to the river site for the ceremony. -Sonia responded promptly and positively to all inquires. She was able to provide tulips for the welcome dinner centerpieces we wanted to make ourselves at the last minute. She did a beautiful job styling the chuppah exactly as we wanted with the fabric we provided. And she even decorated the wedding cake we brought. [There was some stress over additional costs that were not disclosed to us up front and some flowers that weren't exactly what we wanted (although beautiful). We would have liked to do a better job communicating with Sonia.] -Rachelle, our photographer, was also a lovely person. I recently had my wedding at the TMH, and it was absolutely, without a doubt, the best decision my husband and I have made. What made the day, weekend, and entire time leading up to the event SO special was that Rachel (and staff) truly made our experience personal and unique, despite the countless weddings they host each year. I have so much to say so have grouped this review in categories below. Rachel is the most professional, friendly, helpful, and organized wedding coordinator anyone could ask for. She guided us through the planning sheets, helped fill in important details, gave advise where we simply had no ideas, and was very responsive with her communication. She immediately helped us organize all our decorations and "stuff" upon arrival. During the rehearsal and day of, she provided much needed direction on the flow of the ceremony, and managed to keep everyone on track. She also took care of countless small, yet meaningful details that made my husband and I feel extremely well taken care of (for instance, bringing us appetizers/beverages during pictures to make sure we were eating!). She also clearly had a handle on the "vision" for the decorations and theme. She even suggested a few additions that were quite stellar! The wedding (ceremony and reception) went off without a hitch - EVERYTHING WAS PERFECT. We had to shuffle the schedule a bit, but the way it was managed by Rachel and staff was so fantastic and low stress. At the end of the night, she gave a heartfelt goodbye to me and my husband, left us food and champagne in our cabin, and told us to simply enjoy our night however long we wanted it to go. The food was as amazing as Rachel. We went with Pangaea Cafe, led by head chef Holly. She had a delicious array available for us during our trial tasting, and was very flexible with tweaks we asked for (i.e. different topping options available depending on guests' dietary restrictions), and even accommodated the request for a popcorn machine and toppings bar! Everyone was raving about the food afterward; the stuffed mushroom and homemade salad dressings are of special note! For dessert, we went with Quincy Cooking Cottage led by Connie. She let us sample (i.e. went out of her way to bake and/or save us pieces) some additional cake flavors and worked with us on personalizing the German Chocolate 8" cutting cake we landed on. We also had a dessert bar, complete with chocolate mousse, mini apple tarts, and a cheesecake bar with toppings. Everything was delicious! More ravings from guests, and we have most of a beautiful, decadent cake remaining to look forward to for a while The flowers, provided by Sonia at Gray's Flower Garden, were STUNNING. She absolutely NAILED the vision I was going for, including the most natural yet beautiful bouquet, appetizer/dessert table with moss, sprigs in napkins, and more. I kept as many arrangements as I could to preserve and keep around the house - so pretty! Todd with Lionsmile Entertainment was likewise fantastic. He played all the songs we'd requested on the playlist, mixed in some additional songs he knew would be good to get people to the dance floor, and even went out of his way to let us know how much he enjoyed some of the song selections. He was so easy to work with and genuinely loves what he does - he did a great job with the announcements as well, and stayed with us late into the night! Lastly, some words for the staff and venue itself. The staff were all incredibly helpful, nice, professional, and efficient. I especially remember one of the bar tenders (Jason) making sure the bridal party was taken care of, and left us with some options long after the staff had left. The property is even more beautiful in person than the pictures show, especially with all the personalized touches from our wedding. This is one of the most magical places I have ever been. If you are looking for the perfect relaxing getaway-this is the spot. Breathtaking views, cozy cabins, a flowing river- what more could you ask for?! I've stayed at the 20 mile house many times, it is one of my favorite places to vacation ever! I've stayed in the creek side cabin by my self one winter to write music, and my wife and I have stayed together in the big 20 mile house on two different occasions. The whole area is absolutely beautiful, trees, mountains, creeks and rivers. It's a great place for hiking, swimming, relaxing and just getting away from it all. I highly recommend a visit, the longer you stay the better you feel. read more

My man and I attended a friend's wedding here and I have to tell you this place is gorgeous! Super cool old brick house, built in 1854!( I asked a lot of questions, the history behind this place is really neat). When you get onto the grounds it is just beautiful. Flowers everywhere, green grass, squirrels chasing each other around. There was another building on the grounds, which at one point was a functioning General Store and post office! It is filled with old pharmacy bottles, addresses still written on the walls, a bunch of old stuff. One of the ladies that works there told me most of the stuff was found right there on site! So cool! The wedding was just gorgeous. They got married in the forest under all the trees. Very intimate , my friend looked beautiful and so happy. Ceremony was short and sweet and we were off to the celebration! The whole place is covered in white lights at night. White lights on the trees and hanging over the dance floor. Looked amazing! Dinner was delicious, Southern Accent makes damn fine food. The staff at the twenty mile house were all so nice and helpful. They went above and beyond to make sure we were having a great time. The owner was present the entire wedding making sure everything was done perfectly. Really nice guy. We drank cocktails and danced all night long! I have to say this was the best wedding i have ever attended! We got to stay at one of the adorable cabins on site. Our cabin was so quaint and cute. We sat on the deck and looked at all the stars in the sky. Living in a big city we don't get to see this very often. It was just magical. My friend's had such a great time, they looked beautiful! You could truly feel the love in the air. TMH is really doing a great job at making it look and feel very special. Stayed two nights in Creekside Cabin. Cabin pictures are representative of what is posted for this cabin on the inside not from the outside. Whatever they have on the roof of this cabin (metal type) when pine cones or leaves fall makes it very hard to sleep and I'm used to city noise. Shades in bedroom bring in to much light for my taste. For privacy it need curtains. Very small front and back porch. Not much of a view around the cabin. Road into the property is right outiside the door of this cabin. If you like to be alone and not mingle with others this will be good for you. Not much of a river area to sit in - area was crawling with big black ants. General store is good to see. Jacuzzi they have is not for guest use. We so looked forward to this place but it was a BIG disappointment. Owners did not have in our opinion the best customer service towards guests. Would not return or recommend anyone to stay here maybe under different management don't think that will happen soon as this is family owned. read more

We had our wedding here on 7/19/14 and 100% recommend TMH, they threw us a great party, what a thrill! Twenty Mile House is a gorgeous and special property with wonderful Sierra and Western character. The website pictures and videos only do it partial justice. The owner, Kevin, his staff, and all of the local vendors are phenomenal and NOT your typical rural / local quality, they are top notch. Renting out the whole property (including the Northfield) allows you to keep close friends or family on-site making the day-of very comfortable and easy. TMH's offering is all-inclusive, which means the vendors know the routine, saving you time and coordination. Local, sustainable food (Pangea was A+) and flower options, delicious cake, etc. Can't say enough about the community of vendors they've put together from Quincy, Graeagle, etc. Kevin and his staff run a family-feel, relaxed, no panic, but very professional operation. Expect them to go out of their way and surprise with the little details and character. If you and your family need to micromanage every little detail from afar, they are capable of it, but may not be the best cultural fit for you. The wedding coordinator is a day-of coordinator, not a planner, so if you have needs beyond their consultation, be up front about them and don't wait until the last minute. They are very flexible but rely on you to speak up about your needs and what you want customized, otherwise they put on their standard and spectacular routine. Customize it as you like to add your own character. Our one big takeaway recommendation: consider renting the property for the day/night after your wedding (e.g. Sunday night for a Saturday wedding) to take full advantage of your time in the Lost Sierra, and soak in and relax on their grounds and by/in the river, and keep close friends and family around. It's a great day to bask and not have plans after all of the festivities. We also stayed at the Creekside Cabin in March of 2014, which was fabulous. Expect it to be very rustic. We slept in the nook and used the wood stove, the hot tub, while the creek rushed. If you prize amenities over peace and quiet and a gorgeous natural scene, go somewhere else. For those looking for something off the beaten path, very romantic, this is your place. In the winter, the property is plowed daily but if it is snowing continuously, bring chains or a 4WD vehicle as the last short turn made it hard for our road cruising Ford to get out. I believe Kevin, the owner, is also running B&B for the rest of the property (the main house) so it will be more lively in winter 2015. Enjoy! read more

This venue was everything we wanted! Beautiful outdoorsy feel with lots if creature comfort. Gorgeous cabins with lots of rooms for guests, fully furnished kitchen, hot tub, multiple grills, lawn games, a river to float, fire pits, dance stage, private bar, and much much more. When we first started to realize how much was needed to plan a wedding we felt extremely overwhelmed and honestly put a lot of things off for a while but even with this delay, twently mile house made our dream wedding come true. Rachel, the planner was absolutely amazing. She was flexible with meet up dates and answered all emails in a timely manner. Even when Rachel went on a short vacation another staff member promptly returned my email and answered my question. Most helpful of all though was Rachel's friendly, calm, confident and reassuring attitude towards the mountain of planning that helped us stay focused and know that we were making progress. During the day of our wedding all of the twently mile house staff worked tirelessly to take care of absolutely everything without prompting. All staff were friendly and helpful if asked of anything extra and always had a smile on their faces. All in all, it truly was a stress free day were we and all our guests could soak up every moment knowing twently mile house staff was working behind the scenes to make our day perfect. read more

My fiancee and I took a tour of the beautiful Twenty Mile House earlier this month when looking at wedding venues. The grounds and facilities are beautiful, with a fun, funky history to boot. Kevin could not have been more hospitable, giving us nearly two hours of his time on a Saturday. The ceremony and reception sites were gorgeous (Kevin is flexible and happy to make your vision of a wedding work on the property). We got married at the Twenty Mile House in July 2009 and I could not have dreamt of a more perfect wedding. The setting was gorgeous- a beautiful garden in the middle of the woods and mountains. It felt so intimate and our guests could not stop telling us that we picked the most amazing wedding site they have ever been too. We also stayed in the creekside cabin for 4 nights. It was so romantic and we could hear the creek trickling from bed- super relaxing. In addition, our families also stayed at Twenty Mile House which was so convenient and helpful. The river, which is a short walk from the B&B, is beautiful and serene and there is a great swimming hole.The staff at the B&B were so helpful and nice and made me feel relaxed on such a special day. I want to start off by saying that our wedding day at the Twenty Mile House was beyond what I could have dreamed up. It was absolutely perfect in every way and I wouldn't have changed one detail about the day. The Twenty Mile House puts together for couples a pretty sweet package. If you choose this, it includes your flowers, cake, catering, setup/cleanup of linens/tables/chairs/place settings, a wedding day coordinator, the DJ, and a stay on property for your guests. What a time and stress savor it was having all of this included. You might wonder if they have all of this in a package, what is the quality of the vendors they provide. Twice a year, the venue has a wedding fair where all possible choices of vendors included in the package are present. For us, there were three choices of caterer, two choices of bakers, one florist, and one DJ. You couldn't have gone wrong with any of them. Every vendor had the highest quality product. The food from all the caterers was amazing! And each baker had her own style. The flowers displayed from the florist were beautiful and she had a million pictures to show all the weddings she'd done. When we left the wedding fair, we had extreme confidence in the vendors TMH provided (if there was only one choice) and were excited about the vendors we'd gotten to choose (like the caterer and baker). It was really easy meeting with all our vendors and they were so accommodating. The package truly includes everything you'd need for a great wedding. We had a chance to meet with the wedding coordinator for a planning meeting. She worked hard to make sure the day was perfect and she was so sweet! The property can house up to 26 people and we arranged for all our wedding party and family to stay (almost up to full capacity). When we got there, it was so much fun! Everyone just hung out outside and played games. People who hadn't met before got to bond! We would totally recommend getting everyone to stay. It was so cool! We had a chance to meet up with the wedding coordinator and go over our decorations we brought and where they'd go. When the big day came, everything was just as it was supposed to be - gorgeous! A note on the setup though - it really helps to have a backup of people who can help setup and know your vision. TMH staff definitely helps with setup, but not all decorations. You'll need to provide a few people who also know what they are doing. We had some awesome family members help out. The food was amazing, some guests even went back for fourths (Southern Accent Catering)! The cake was delicious and beautiful (Quincy Cooking Cottage)! The DJ, Todd, stuck to our playlist and did a great job getting everyone to party! The beer from the local Brewing Lair was tapped dry by the end of the night! The flowers were lush and beautiful (Grays Flower Garden). The bartender, Kelly, did a an awesome job keeping everyone ahem "hydrated" :) The morning after the wedding, we held a brunch for all our guests on property with our same caterers. I'd highly recommend this - it really brought everyone together after a great night. So, after this amazing experience, I will give a little advice to make your experience the best it can be. ~As other reviews have pointed out, communication with the venue was a point of frustration with us. Sometimes we'd wait a couple weeks for an email response. My advice - use better communication methods. I think calling or even texting would have worked out better for us when we had questions. ~Know your contract with the venue - there are certain things they provide, and certain things they don't. It's your responsibility to know what you signed and your responsibility to work out anything outside the contract. If you and the venue agreed to make some special arrangements, have it in writing and go over it again when you arrive the day before the wedding. This really helped us. ~Review all documents between you and the wedding coordinator and have them printed with you when you arrive on property. The planning worksheets they provide really help direct people when you are busy on your wedding day - the extra copies can be useful for family members who are helping to setup. Good communication between us and the wedding coordinator on these worksheets really helped to ensure our vision was what was setup. ~Bring copies of everything. Schedules, maps, worksheets, contracts, insurance forms. EVERYTHING. This is just good practice in case there is a question. ~Map out how you want things to look if it's specific. We brought simple diagrams that we gave to the wedding coordinator for like the welcome table, ceremony table, favor table etc. Everything looked perfect and she appreciated having the directions so she didn't have to ask us or guess. ~Don't sweat the small things. Be flexible. Enjoy your day! We sure did!! We'd definitely recommend the Twenty Mile House for your wedding day (and weekend)! read more

My husband and I changed all of our plans for a destination wedding at Twenty Mile House after our first interaction with Kevin (owner). We never saw more than pictures of the venue before arriving the day before our wedding day and we were not disappointed! The venue is gorgeous and offers a lot of options for the ceremony/pictures. The lodging was very well kept and spacious! The staff, especially Kevin and Ashley, were absolutely wonderful to work with throughout the entire process. Having our wedding at Twenty Mile House was nothing short of magical. The venue itself is absolutely stunning and every vendor we worked with only made it look more gorgeous. Every vendor that works with Twenty Mile House knows the venue so well and because of that they knew how to make my vision fit perfectly with the venue. They were easy to connect with and great about keeping in touch for all the changes and alterations we made to our plans, menus, music list, etc. Their florist really blew me away with the arrangements she made and the photographer was a blast and already knew all of the best photo areas and best timing. The DJ was gave us a great vibe for each part of the evening, and all of the food was incredible. The caterer was so sweet, she even, unprompted, went the extra mile and made gluten free pancakes for our brunch because she knew I had a guest with celiacs. Rachel and the staff were professional, personable and truly enjoyable to work with. They seem like they genuinely enjoy their job. They kept everything running smoothly and made it the easiest, most enjoyable weekend my husband and I have ever had. I can't say enough for this spot! Twenty Mile House deserves a five star rating because they are truly THE BEST EVER. Planning our wedding was so easy breezy that I sometimes thought to myself... "Am I forgetting something?" But nothing was forgotten, they just truly make it that simple. We live in San Diego, but made a weekend trip the year prior to meet their preferred vendors, taste food, and talk details at their wedding fair. We were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food and dessert, and could tell we would be in good hands no matter which vendors we chose. Throughout the planning year, the wedding coordinator Rachel was always available and easy to communicate with via email. She kept us on track with ample checklists and timelines in our shared Dropbox. We had planning meetings via phone. These were very helpful and every detail was discussed. The whole weekend, from check in to check out, was truly seamless! The beauty of the property and surrounding Plumas County Forest area is truly unmatched! I can't say enough amazing things about this venue. Our wedding was truly the most beautiful, perfect day we could ever imagine. We are beyond pleased by our experience at Twenty Mile House! read more
