Snow on car at pine Hill Motel
    Linda K.

We love this place because they have kitchens and kitchenettes and allow dogs. Not many other places do so. Single and duplex cabins are clean and comfortable. Owners very friendly and helpful. Last night at 10:00 the owner was shoveling the snow off the path to our cabin. It is easy to find as you approach Quincy ca from the west. Best part is that is located in Quincy where there is a lot to see and do: movie theater, good historical museum, several good restaurants, beautiful 100 year old county building, lovely fall colors etc.

I honestly don't understand how this has a 4 star review. While pet friendly the owners chided us to keep the dogs away from their office because their dog goes crazy and then they get mad. DF felt that they were rude to him when he spoke to them about changing rooms. My mil who booked was under the impression we had a kitchenette but we didn't. It was a very small room with a dead spider in the bathroom sink and a live one in the shower. It smells very musty, the decking slopes and is rotting away. There is a hive of black hornets or biting flies (I didn't care to investigate) living inside the rafters over room 2's deck. The decks have no railings so not kid friendly. We were in several rooms. Room 1 was just a bedroom with a tiny bathroom and a queen bed. Room 2 has a kitchenette (full stove, small fridge, sink and counter, dishes provided) futon, queen bed, bathroom, closet and table. We found a dead bug in the dishes and had to rewash everything. The sponge provided was really gross but they did give us a new one in request. Room 4 was two beds in two rooms with a bathroom. The entry is to one bedroom with a smaller rooms do the bathroom off if it. We actually chose to go to a different hotel even though our room was paid for.

Kind of a throw back to old roadside motels. Room was clean, kind of cool, and how can you not like the duck?

I was representing a client in a case that was supposed to settle, but when it didn't, I needed to go to Quincy for the trial. I wanted some place convenient, comfortable, and where I could spread out and work. There were two of us working the case and Pine Hill Motel was perfect. First of all, this is Quincy, so scale it down a bit. The biggest hotel is the Gold Pan Lodge, but I did not want to be in the same location as the opposing party. When I met my client there to go have breakfast, the rooms were kind of beat up, like an older, not updated best western. Pine Hill, though quirky and quaint, had character to spare. I loved the classic roadside motel feel with the wood walls, the stuffed duck on each bed, the fact that it's a decent shower, we were in our own cottage type room with each of us having our bed in it's separate room. We only had a fridge, though many had kitchenettes. The beds seems comfy to sit and work on, but I never did get around to sleeping. With my printer/scanner set up and the file laid out, it was a work night. The staff was great. When I was going to be late getting in, they just told me what room I was in, went in and turned the heat on, left the light on, and left my room unlocked for when I arrived. The owners have been running the place for decades and you can just instantly tell they are good people and they enjoy maintaining their property. This is not the W or the Ritz, but I enjoyed my time here and next time I need to travel to Quincy, this is the first place I will check for vacancy.

Cabin 2. Roomy, comfortable and perfect for a home away from home whilst traveling for work.

When in Quincy for business or pleasure this is my favorite place to stay. The rooms are all comfortable, the owners are on-site and very responsive to my needs and requests. It is like staying in my grandmother's guesthouse. I always try to get a room with the kitchenette so I can get my coffee in the morning, have my breakfast on MY schedule and prepare a healthy meal in the evening after working all day. This is more than just a place to lay my head for the night, but not so impersonal that I can't call the owner up and remind him of a past conversation and him know who I am. For the past 6 years traveling all over CA, I have found that rare gem, a home away from home, we road warriors all look for when off the beaten path.

The rooms are awesome really. It's like staying at an old western style motel. The doors are fricken cool! All kinda TV channels if your Into that. A nice size mini fridge and microwave. The staff are very friendly and helpful for where the cool spots are to see and eat. Which I've found if you're looking for something delicious to eat near by go to the Knook restaurant, It was absolutely amazing! And the Spanish creek, Was absolutely beautiful and relaxing! Back to the motel. LOL They have a big ice machine always stocked with ice, a cool little creek flowing in the back window. It was Just a wonderful stay.

There are 35 rooms all spread out in separate buildings among lovely trees. Quite nice. Due to Covid they are not allowed to even clean a room till 24 hours after checkout. This cuts the room counts in half. The buildings exteriors could use some freshening up with paint and general maintenance but the interior of our room looked quite clean. The rooms are no smoking but there are ash trays everywhere outside. I didn't smell smoke anywhere. But the used ashy next door was icky to me. Room 27: The bed was comfy. Everything worked. The fridge was a bit noisy as it is close to the head of the bed. But it was plugged in and cold. The AC works great and it appeared the heater is new. The only downside was the doorknob was very loose, so kinda tacky right? But they have Dish Tv and WiFi which I forgot to get the password for...be sure to ask at checkin because I didn't see a phone in the room! But there is an iron and board and shampoo and body soap in the shower. It was clean!!! Our room was quite. Our rate came to $93.74 for 2 people. Less for 1 person. I can't say enough on how amazing Aya and the Greenhorn Ranch staff is! I planned a 4 day, 3 night…read moretrip for my company's offsite here. It was rescheduled from last October due to the Dixie Fire, but our 80 person group was so excited when we finally met, stayed, played and ate together at the Ranch. There was a bit of everything for everyone at all skill levels for the guided activities - horseback riding, skeet shooting, archery and electric biking. For those who weren't interested and unable to participate, there were lawn games like corn hole, fishing, people watching on the deck, pool, hiking and more! Food was served 3 meals a day at the same times. Each meal was so delicious! They even kicked off our first dinner with prime rib and ribs then a taco bar and finally spaghetti and meatballs. They hosted evening activities after dinner, which kept our group entertained. From live music, karaoke night and bonfire and s'mores, our group really enjoyed karaoke night, maybe a little too much. Aya and the staff went above and beyond for our group. From bringing a birthday cake and cupcakes to celebrate one of our employee's birthday to mowing down the lawn for a company ceremony we held that night, they truly understood what it meant to host such a special trip for us, without us even asking! Not to forget to mention, they even shuttled our employees from a hotel to the Ranch daily, multiple times a day. They were able to secure a larger vehicle to fit all 12 employees. If you're thinking of hosting a company offsite somewhere, look no further!

I booked my trip to Greenhorn Ranch over six months ago. My daughter wanted to visit a dude ranch…read morefor her graduation trip. I started out a bit cynical about the high pricing per day per person of all the dude ranches I investigated and drove to Greenhorn probably in more of a negative skeptical headspace than I should have. If you read any of my reviews you will see that I'm also a tough customer and critical but fair reviewer. So when I say that if I could I would give this place TEN STARS, take that to heart. It's in an absolutely dreamlike location, a 60 acre ranch dropped in the middle of a 500,000 acre idyllic forest with over 60000 acres of accessible trails. The place is laid out like a small western town with saloon and chuck house to eat. The rooms were surprisingly stylish comfortable and well appointed. The shower had great pressure and hot water and our creekside cabins sat on the stream with a view. The food is basic, ribs and chicken, hot dogs and hamburgers for lunch but that what I like and I will say everything including the steaks were well flavored and cooked perfectly. Is the place overpriced. Yes but I would gladly and happily return so I guess it's worth it. I've been to many horse riding places including Arizona and Wyoming and I have never seen healthier or more beautiful well cared for horses anywhere. There were over 60 horses and literally every single one was magnificent and well trained. They also carefully review your preference and skill sheets and make sure to find you the perfect horse both to match your skill level and desire. I always wanted to ride a paint like Little Joe from Bonanza and when I got to the corral for my first ride there was a stunning paint with blonde mane and blue eyes waiting for me. The rides are indescribable with valleys and vistas and mountains and it's more like exploring the frontier than a typical nose to tail operation. THE STAFF: I don't know where to begin. The office staff including and especially Stella and the kitchen folks and every single person we met was welcoming warm kind friendly and charming . And genuine. They made us feel like family and we made fast friends some my daughter may have made for life . I have never been anywhere including luxury 5 star resorts with a better staff or better service . The wranglers including Kadence, Katie, Avery, Jim (Sebastian) and Adrian were actual genuine cowboys, incredible skilled riders and wranglers, consummate professionals who put safety first while making every ride more enjoyable and memorable than the last. Troy the bartender was fun and funny smart and entertaining and a hell of a mixologist. He made me custom creations better than any I've had in upscale clubs and restaurants in NYC. One day I was out by the pond and as I drained my water glass he appeared with a water pitcher and a towel over his arm like a sommelier pouring me wine . He said "more water sir?" The whole thing was a joke and we shared a laugh. My 22 old daughter was heartbroken when we left and we have been all over the world and I've never seen her feel that way about anywhere including Maui or Paris. We are planning on going back in October and probably the rest of our lives . Run don't walk to Greenhorn with your whole extended family. Ten Stars!
