Nice staff, "vintage" mess. First room I stayed in lacked air conditioning (despite the condenser unit sitting right above my room and the numerous vents) and when I asked, I was politely informed it was "vintage", ignoring the retrofitted heating. Was given a box fan to have the illusion of a cool room. Also to note: right behind the vintage room was a restaurant that was pricy. Second room was another first experience: no microwave. Restaurant was closed, and you have to walk across the entire compound to use the main lobby's microwave. My shameful walk with a bowl of frozen Mac and cheese made me feel as if I was a pioneer on a vintage journey to my nearest saloon. The river pines is under new management - including the restaurant. This review is for that. The restaurant staff is entitled (worse than prior to the old owners closing). Went for early dinner, sign open, waitresses gabbing, doors locked. Knock: told - we aren't open yet, pointed to sign - told come back in 5. I left. Recently the same owners posted on a community page a politically non-inclusive post. The county full timers lean their way, but the owners are showing they don't care about being inclusive. I'm a wedding planner and have a wonderful couple getting married in Graeagle this year. River Pines is always a go-to place for great accommodations & amenities and was the couple's first choice to refer their guests to stay during the wedding weekend. The new ownership of River Pines has brought upgrades and a great restaurant, but with such a big transition, things can fall threw the cracks sometimes. This lead to a miscommunication with policies on the dates my couple was eager to book. My job is to advocate for my couples, so when I called the resort I was so happy that the front desk gal and the manager Heather were willing to come to solution with me. Booking groups can come with a lot of logistics and River Pines was quick to put customer service first. Thank you to their management team & lovely staff for being a great reflection of small town hospitality. The rooms are charming and the property is well groomed, we love the event space and pool, all so perfect for groups. Roadhouse at River Pines Resort - A Must-Visit Gem! When we heard the Roadhouse had taken over the old Coyote Bar and Grill spot, we were curious. Now, after two visits, we're officially hooked! Let's start with the food: spectacular, doesn't do it justice. On our first visit, my wife and I shared the burger with garlic fries and the pork chop with sriracha honey mustard. Both were so good, we were fighting over the last bites like kids over the TV remote. Naturally, we had to come back to see if lightning strikes twice. Spoiler: it does. The ribeye and tenderloin medallions were absolute showstoppers, perfectly cooked and served alongside a medley of steamed veggies that were just-right crunchy. Soggy vegetables? Not here. They're treated with the same respect as the steak--like royalty. And let's talk about Paul, the manager. This guy's got skills. Despite being short-staffed, he ran a packed house like a magician pulling rabbits out of hats. If I hadn't overheard, I never would've guessed they were running a skeleton crew. Paul is the kind of manager every restaurant dreams of but rarely gets--a true pro who makes the whole operation look effortless. Graeagle, we hit the jackpot with Roadhouse. Stellar food, impeccable service, and a manager who's clearly part wizard. It's places like this that make you feel lucky to live here. Not enough can be said about his demonstrated expertise. Time and time again Paul has proven that the troubles most restaurant managers around here skirmish, are no trouble at all. The rooms are rustic but very clean and spacious. The Roadhouse Restaurant is amazing!! Delicious food with outstanding service!! The manager is so hands-on and friendly they are sure to succeed. Met some friends at The Roadhouse for dinner. My wife and I both had the filet medallions with mash potatoes and steamed vegetables. The meat was excellent, however, for the money we spent, they need more meat on the plate. The steamed vegetables could have been stepped up a notch by simply steaming them in a broth. The mashed potatoes were ok. But again, could have been stepped up a notch by adding some garlic, butter and salt. Maybe it was just this particular evening and this particular chef. I don't know how the kitchen is ran. The ambiance was nice. Wait staff was always on top of things. Food was brought out quickly. The drinks were great. The dinning area is somewhat small so make reservations! We will be back and order something different next time. I want to try the steak. It looked delicious. read more

We had a fairly large group stay here for a nearby family event. The place is charming with cabin style rooms. We booked the room that had an attached kitchen and an additional joining room with a Murphy bed so our group had a place to hang out. Everyone in our group said the beds were very comfortable. Bathrooms had hot water and plenty of towels. There was bar soap for handwashing. Just be prepared and bring your own shampoo if you need it. The kitchen was well stocked with everything you would need to cook a full course meal and a decent sized retro looking fridge. The common room next to the check in area was very nice with books, games, free coffee, a mini bar for purchase and a small convenient store for necessities and souvenirs. They even lit a fire for us. We would definitely stay here again! read more

My family has vacationed at River Pines Resort since 1968 and I've always considered it to be a wonderful resort where families can go and enjoy the peace and quiet of the area and some amazing fishing. During my last couple of visits to the Resort,, it has lost much of its original charm since the heyday of the 1960s and 1970s. It has become very overpriced, nearly doubling in price over the last 10 years with new ownership and has very few amenities other than the swimming pool area. It is a place that I always enjoyed visiting as a child and young adult but not so much these days. This is why I had a five stars I give it a three today. For the price then new owners are charging, it should have many more amenities than it does. Plan on visiting again with my family in September, and if it does not improve, it may be the last time I visit the resort, which is sad because I have so many wonderful childhood memories from it. It's located off highway 89 and they have a little playground a a decent size pool with a little bar. Next door is a Mexican/American restaurant and down the street is the small town of Graeagle. If yiu want luxury, River Pines is not it. This is a place to lay your head, let your kids play, and for you to have a chill time. read more

Stayed for my first time this weekend. Charming cabins and great pool / bar area. Would be perfect for kids. Kind of an RV park feel. Couple of grads lawns and play structure for kids. Separated cabins as well as "motel" style rooms. DirecTV and wifi. Everyone was super nice! Pool area was a great place to hang out with a big pool and covered bar with a couple of basic food options. Bartender Stephanie was great with the drinks and we had a chicken quesadilla which was great! There was a jacuzzi, water volleyball, cornhole, ping pong and shuffleboard. Very close to everything without being in the middle of everything (if that makes sense?). My kids are already grown but I would've loved to bring them somewhere like this! Fishing is close by as is horseback riding, golf, hiking, and quirky fun shops. . read more

Roadhouse is a home run! From your first step into the door and your last out, an exceptional experience. Manager was so happy & excited to welcome all guests and visited our table numerous times to check on our well being. Staff & Chef were attentive to all the patrons. The menu is diverse and food excellent. Caesar salad was huge, fresh and the homemade dressing was refreshing. Burger & NY steak were both cooked & seasoned perfectly. Super excited to have a new hot spot in town. Definitely call for reservations - it was packed and drop ins were happily greeted, but turned away. We had the BEST stay! The rooms are clean and spacious (huge closets!), the bed was incredibly comfortable, the pillows were soft, and the linens weren't scratchy and cheap, but rather soft and cozy. We also loved our view out the window into the woods... In addition to the room, we loved the lobby space. We were able to congregate there with our party by the fire, playing games. The restaurant food was exceptional! -Best burger and onions rings we've had... The staff at check-in, the restaurant, etc. go above and beyond. They are so kind and welcoming. The little town of Graeagle is so charming, and we love the little shops. We know this resort books up quickly, and now we know why! We will definitely be staying there again. read more

This was a hard one to rate. I see what it used to be and I see the potential. But upon entering the room, we almost left. The carpet is absolutely horrible. Yes, we had a dog. So I'm sure we were in a designated pet room. But that's no excuse. The room smelled musty + doggy. First impression did not inspire confidence, so we checked the bed for bedbugs, which there were none. There were a couple of VERY loud families in cabins across from us playing loud music and doing a lot of swearing. But then things got a little better. Bed was actually comfortable, shower was hot with plenty of towels, and there's a bar near the lobby. The River Pines Roadhouse has been a great addition to Graeagle. I've been 3 or 4 times since they opened and I've been impressed every time. The food is amazing,consistently great and comes out very quick. They were short staffed tonight and you couldn't even tell. Maya the waitress was very attentive and interactive with every table not to mention very friendly. The bar tender Stephanie pours great drinks and keeps customers happy. The manager Paul is on top of his game. He assists with the bar and dinning room always checking on everyone. For 90 bucks a night in graeagle this place is pretty awesome! The rooms are comfy with a little kitchenette set up and all the dishes and silverware you could need. The fridge is almost full size but the microwaves you have to request and they are first come first serve. There is a tv with an hdmi hook up and pretty basic cable. The bathrooms have a bathtub and are clean and there is lots of parking and a fan. The pool area is great with an out door bar/snack spot and hot tub. They have a shuffle board thing and corn hole, plus a kids playground. They say no dogs during the summer but people had dogs. There's also a main room near the lobby /front desk area with a large tv and games for the kids. On mondays they did a free bbq with burgers and hot dogs! Which is pretty cool. It was peaceful and quite and very clean, although a little dated. If you have the chance check out the restaurant on site too! read more

First time staying here. We went up to The FeatherRiver for our daughters wedding and several of us stayed at The River Pines, a recommendation by the groom's family. The place did not disappoint. We were most happy to have a kitchen option and it was wonderful. The room was clean, warm and charming. Moderately lg bathroom and large closet. Really like the older style of this place. If you enjoy rustic and sparse, this is for you. The room is what you can expect for $95/night. Although shampoo is something I normally expect to be provided, but it's not, so be sure to bring your own, along with a hairdryer if needed. And maybe light bulbs or lantern, it was so dim inside that I had to use my phone flashlight to see inside my bag. A wall lamp had a bare wire hanging to nowhere, not sure why they didn't just remove it. The pros: a nice pool and bar, powerful shower heads with plenty of hot water, large walk in closet and the restaurant next door was great. I would recommend bringing earplugs; the walls are thin and we could hear the conversations next door, along with the snoring! read more

Pipes made horrible sounds all night. I liked the room. Very simple, clean. Checking out older woman and man in office talking. Didn't even look up when I walked in. NO MASKS. As many reviewers point out, this place is a rustic throwback to unfettered core family vacation time. All the elements necessary for a memorable get away are there - swimming pool, playground, communal TV / game room. I've had the opportunity to stay at the the River Pines twice while on four-wheeling excursions. My family joined me on my second stay. My three y/o son thoroughly enjoyed himself and with all there is to do in the area, it wasn't difficult keeping his energetic self entertained. When our building experienced a "plumbing snafu" during our stay, Management made sure that the impacted guests were taken care of. I got the strong sense that the owners/Management truly value their guests leisure time and respect their clientele. In other words, they take pride in what they do. If you're unsure about booking a stay at the River Pines, don't hesitate - go for it. Two thumbs up! read more

Can you imagine making a reservation in advance at RIVER PINES RESORT in Graeagle using a credit card, following up the day of our arrival by confirming the room for 27 July 2019. After attending a private dinner, we went to chick in and were informed, "there are other people in that room. Nothing else available." Maybe Portola." We were shocked as no lodging facility has been that horrible. Welcome to the flea bag hotel! Today, your room will feature 3 bars of soap and a nice hard bed for you to sleep in. For your safety, your bedroom door won't lock and you can park your car right on the dirt. You'll have use of a tiny space heater because the main heater doesn't work one bit! At 9 am sharp, our housekeepers will obnoxiously ring your doorbell and ask if you want your room cleaned. We do not have "do not disturb" door hangers because we really need to get all of those rooms cleaned in a few hours! Your free Wifi password is the last name of a guest from years ago and you'll have zero to one bar of reception at best. All of this can be yours for $90 a night! On a more serious note, the owners or whoever was working the credit cards sent me a threatening email because apparently my card expired and they were unable to call my changed number. Let's call a disconnected number several times and if that doesn't work, let's send a very threatening email! Honest mistakes do happen and I felt that should have been addressed on check in and not after we went home. Furthermore, if that individual had my email, shouldn't they open with a request to pay instead of a threat? It's not my fault that Costco changed all of their credit cards and this awesome resort didn't run my card when it was valid. This is the only email I received from them: "Mr. Romero After multiple messages and a text message, this is our final effort to contact you regarding the decline we keep getting on your credit card. If you do not contact this office by 5:00PM November 4, 2016 we will have no alternative but to file a report for defrauding an innkeeper with our Sheriff Department who will then turn it over to the D.A. for collection and prosecution. River Pines is a throwback. A charming, imperfect, safe, inviting little corner that feels like it hasn't moved much since 1964 (or thereabouts). You won't get spa treatments here, but you will get old-fashioned family fun. The cabins/rooms are basic but clean. There's a large grassy area with picnic tables, a rustic lobby with a TV and books, and a fun pool with a hot tub, shuffleboard, ping pong and a bar. There's an adjacent restaurant - Per Se it's not, but it is decent. Graeagle is an adorable town with about five golf courses, fishing, hiking, a mini-golf course and horseback riding. read more

This facility is not a resort but a nice lodge. To me, resorts have swimming pools or tennis courts or spa services. River Pines offers a bench swing and lovely outdoor environment. Our guestroom smelled like Scrubbing Bubbles, so when we first walked in we knew it had been cleaned. We had a double queen room, and the bed that was directly in front of the TV was old and sagging in the center. Glad we chose the double bed room because we were able to use the second bed. The bed was comfortable however the pillows were flat and not fluffy as we like. So that is a personal preference. The wall AC/heater worked well and was not obnoxiously noisy as some can be in small hotel rooms. The walk-in closet had plenty of room as well as a low shelf which was very handy. The outdoor grounds were well-kept. There is a fairly large room off of the lobby which has books, games, furniture and a television, all for the use of the clients. The price we paid was very fair. We were in the area for a wedding and asked many of the guests who also attended about their lodging. It seems that where we were was par for the course. read more

We have come here every year in the summer. It's beautiful, quite, and away from the city. However...the staff is UNBELIEVABLY RUDE!! It's obvious they hate what they do and the people who patron the establishment. Unfortunately we will find another summer getaway. Called to get a reservation for a Saturday night about a week in advance and was told that they were booked for the weekend due to a wedding. They offered to call me if they had a cancellation, as they do get some on wedding party weekends. I had a call back within a day and had a room booked for me. We got to town early and had no problems getting checked in, our room was ready early and we dropped our bags and headed out for hike and a picnic lunch. Later after a nice day, and dinner we went to bed early and fell asleep easily. About 11pm or so, we were awakened by a screaming baby in the room next to us. Apparently the parents are like the ones in the restaurant who's kids are screaming and ruling your dinner by doing nothing to stop the screaming, because that's what they did to stop the baby from screaming,nothing. The weeding party with music and drinking was quieter and was not keeping us up, but we got two hours of screaming from that baby. The next morning when we were checking out, they asked how our stay was, and I told her it was great except for the screaming baby. Not even a second later, she turned around and said that the stay was on her and that she was sorry we had that happen. She said just come back and stay with us again. I was pleasantly surprised that she offered that so quickly. I really appreciated it and will definitely be back. read more

This place is definitely rustic and has not been remodeled or updated since the 80's . The rooms are very dark and dreary and not the sort of environment you would want to hang out in or relax at. It is a hotel just to sleep in and on that note remember to bring your own pillow and a bed spread for there is just a thin cover over that provides no heat! Remember to bring your toiletries for there are non available and an Iron if you are planning to attend an event.It was clean and quite there is a local bar on site. I have two children and I would not stay here unless it was a last resort with them and only if you needed as a last resort for yourself. cute little place to stay staff is mostly nice however the rooms are dark and dreary the bed sucks. Felt like we were sleeping on a piece of plywood. Pillows were small and only 3 to a king size bed. No shampoo or conditioner so I'd bring your own. I recommend you bring your own pillows too and maybe a mattress topper. read more
