My sides were cool, but my steak was excellent and my husband's order was perfect. The issue is the incredibly poor service. It took over 30 mins to get our drinks, over and hour to get our meal. The table next to us mentioned that it took 45 mins to get their bottle of wine. Both tables agreed had the server communicated they were short staffed and acknowledged us during our wait it we would have felt better about the situation. We were at Longboards last week and they had just let a few employees leave early since they were not busy. Then the rush arrived. Our busboy brought us water and explained that they were a short staffed, but the server would get to us as soon as she could. Dinner took a bit longer than expected, but it was within a reasonable time frame. The one server and busboy were very attentive and our three cocktails arrived quicly each time we ordered. When paying our bill we complimented the service and noticed that the restaurant was full and there was only one server and one busboy. She mentioned that the busboy was the manager and he steps in anytime help is needed. Nakoma management needs to visit Longboards and take a lesson back home.

Their "lodge" is better described as a clean, quiet convenience hotel. I completely agree with other reviews - who thought a window in the bathroom was a good idea? My roommate used the bathroom in the night and the light woke me up! Stupid design! The pool, fitness center, and casual dining are in a building about 1 mile up the road. Unfortunately, they don't open early so the in-room Keurig coffee maker is all you have. We were there for a 2-day golf tournament played at Graeagle and Plumas Pines with a 7:30am check-in, so we had to drive to Portola to find a place for to-go breakfast and coffee. We had to double back to the golf course. Nothing in this area is close. Cars are a must, so if someone is golfing early and takes your only car, the rest of you are stranded! Up the hill further is the main lodge. The beamed ceiling room in all their photos is their restaurant. The food was very good. Local vacationers shared it is one of the two really good restaurants in the area (Iron Door is the other, btw.) Get an early reservation if you want to sit outside or at a view table. More than 1/3 of the tables don't have a view. The bar, adjacent to the pro shop in that building is tiny and has no view at all. Not much of a 19th hole! It appeared most golfers rejoin their families by the pool, where the casual dining/bar is. The pro shop for the Dragon had lots of souvenirs and men's golf merch. There was very little women's golf merch. Nakoma appears more interested in selling lots. There are a number of gates to neighborhoods that appear empty. If this area develops, they have plans for a Market on the property, but it's TBD. If you are used to mid to high end resorts, it will disappoint. If you want a clean non-rustic hotel room, this place works. All the other local options are either very rustic or vacation rentals.

They do offer a document that outlines local hikes, which was helpful. Nancy was very kind and left a map and our information by the main cabin since we arrived after 8:30 PM. We also forgot our key, and she was able to help us out by locking our cabin and leaving us an extra set of keys. I love that they offer a complimentary breakfast in the morning, which comes with sausage or bacon, and some fruit and a baked good. The waitresses, Jennifer and Kelsey, were so sweet and were so friendly towards my 4 year old - we felt welcome there! Everything felt very quaint and cabin-like. Everything was pretty up to date as well--this is an excellent glamping option! The bed itself was not the most comfortable, but it all still worked out.
