We had no choice but to travel north since the freeway was closed into Reno and traffic in the north valleys was catastrophic gridlock. We had to travel north on Red Rock to 395. Through cell phone tower failure when my wife got a brief bar of reception she reached out to River Pines and Jess was amazing and was able to get us a room. We arrived there around 10:45 pm and Jess was waiting for us. The hospitality, empathy and kindness demonstrated by the owner and staff at the resort was so genuine and truly appreciated. We stayed 3 nights until we could return home once the evacuation was downgraded. Despite our circumstances the staff made our stay as pleasant as possible. My wife and I can't thank River Pines enough for being so accommodating to us. We spend a lot of time in Graeagle and the kindness shown by everyone we had contact with in the area just truly demonstrates why Graeagle is a special place.

It's CHEAP and located in a beautiful stretch of road by the Yuba River. Just walk across the street to soak in the river to cool off or to try some fly fishing. About 15 minutes away by car is the cute little town of Downieville, a mecca for outdoor sports. This was a great alternative for a quick, CHEAP getaway - no crowds, no noise, just you and your two and four-legged friends out in nature. The owners/managers are a hoot - they'll gab til the cows come home, but are actually very nice and do as much as they can to make you feel comfy.

But he made sure we were all situated and gave us some tips on how to get to the swimmin hole by the river. Don't get any ideas about being a claim jumper though! the river is fully staked in these here parts. This is for those that like the highway 49 historic feeling and a way to know the real thing. Kokanee is a type of salmon species common to Lake Tahoe and the Truckee River. The person who named the place must have been trying to lure fisherman. Oh, and the Forest around Kokanee Kabins is big and beautiful and heavenly. Bring your favorite drinks and a camera and call Kokanee Kabins home for a weekend. If you're not into funky best to go up the road to Butte's Inn or High Country Inn.

Little kitchen, small dining area and back door with a patio table surrounded by beautiful redwoods! The pictures online do this cute little place no favors!!!! Would definitely stay here again (all while I haven't actually slept here yet ) we also walked down to Martha's Kitchen and not only was the food DELICIOUS the waitress was also so sweet and attentive! We might have just found the sweetest little place to land while we're here for a wedding. ****edit to add after sleeping there 2 nights, the main road is semi close so obviously you'll hear some car sounds. Mostly in the early morning. They do provide ear plugs I didn't use them and after the first night it didn't really bother me much. As do be expected with that main road there. Our cabin, "High Commission," is pretty much right on the river so you can sit on the deck with your morning coffee, listening to the river. Our cabin was well set up, and the property is wonderful. We had some rain while we were there, so we didn't do a fire at the communal campfire area, but we did hike around a bit based on tips from the friendly staff, and it's beautiful. Plenty of awesome stuff to do in the area, too, no matter what you're into. I'm into mountain biking, dirt biking and hiking, so I'll probably be back a bunch of times!

The room had a good working AC that helped with the 80+ degree weather. There was a mini fridge and 2 twin beds upstairs along with a quiet fan. The pillows were comfortable and didn't leave me with an earache like most hotel pillows do. The blankets were cozy and clean. I was happy to see the grounds maintained so I didn't worry too much about my dog getting foxtails in his paws. The pool area is pretty dope with lots of options to sunbathe or hide in the shade. I was skeptical about noise because our room was facing the street but it was really quiet. They have a brewery with decent snack options and a pool table. Prices were reasonable and food was good! I hope to return during a cooler time of year. So beautiful and peaceful with the option of a couple of small friendly towns to explore.

I was first out at 8am, walked the course and played in less then 3 hours. The greens were amazing, fast and perfect. The course was in amazing shape. The staff was very accommodating and nice. At $125 to play, including cart, range balls and the round I felt it was expensive but worth it. They have pro v1's on the range so make sure to take a few warm up shots. The layout of the course is nice, hole 9 stuck out as one of my favorites, a drivable par 4 with a creak down the middle. All and all worth a drive if you are staying in Truckee or Reno and by the looks of it the best course in the area.

It kicked up dust for hours, leaving my coach covered in it and forcing us to keep our windows closed. Also, the posted speed limit is 5 mph. It would be great if that were enforced, especially for kids riding scooters and bikes, many of whom appeared to be traveling well over 20 mph. It created a safety concern and took away from an otherwise enjoyable stay.
