I stayed with Ada's Place in July. Overall it was an great exprience. The check in process was smooth and on my own time. This was great as I came in late and just wanted to put my stuff away and relax. I stayed in the "West Wing" and it was super cute and clean. The place is right in town so, it is very walkable to food and the main strip of Quincy. The Wifi was good and cell reception is great. I will stay here again. A peaceful drive and this was the rainbow at the end. The cottages are darling. Yes, I would live here! Five cottages - each with its own personality. Wonderfully appointed with all the comforts of a home I would own - I enjoyed the comforts of The West Wing. Quiet and cozy. The gardens are stunning. Water features. Porches and patios to relax and renew. Books to read -- if you forgot your own. TV -- who cares. Free WiFi...okay, need that. Walk to dining and shopping in Quincy. Plus museum and other "downtown" attractions. Easy drive to all the beautiful outdoor spaces and places of Plumas County...The Lost Sierra. Oh, wait, each cottage has a wonderfully outfitted kitchenette, too. You won't have to always eat out but plenty of good eats nearby. Prices are incredibly reasonable. I have had the great pleasure of working on this project for a few months now , and I am very excited to see what this brings. A lot of new things have taken Place. Nice crew the management Corinne is amazing and she has took me under her wing and has been a great friend and mentor. We are very excited and pleased with the way it's going. Cottages are so comfortable and quiet, Fresh linens, plenty of towels and very clean and relaxing environment. I love that you can check in on your own no standing in line to get room number, and no key card like the hotels , and you get all your check in and out information directly by email. I love that it's walking distance from main area of Quincy, and I have no problem coming to work every day. Place is a nice get away from all the hectic stuff and we don't bother you unless you need something or an emergency, . I would most definitely request my family or friends to come stay Here a Adas place. read more

I highly recommend staying in these adorable cottages if you're in Quincy. Corinne is extremely helpful and responsive when it comes to checking in and any questions that you may have. It feels like staying in someone's nice apartment complete with kitchen and all the amenities you could need. I felt extremely comfortable here and will always recommend these to anyone visiting. It's also very nice and quiet and you feel like you're part of the neighborhood while staying here. The cottages also have outdoor areas where you can sit out and relax. I definitely made use of those and had some meals out on the porch. You can also go out and explore the downtown area which is within walking distance. read more

I needed my fall color fix this year...so last week...I took a road trip to Northern California and picked the town of Quincy to be my home base for a three day span of leaf peeping. I'd never been in that area before...but my research told me that was "the place" to be for California fall colors (http://plumascounty.org/Things%20to%20See%20And%20do/FallColors.htm). I made no hotel reservations because...well...I like to see a place before I stay in it and...I'm a "free spirit on the road." Of course...as a result of that spirit...I've spent a few nights sleeping on the back seat of my car...but that's part of the adventure! When I was outside Quincy...I stopped to take photos of some golden Aspen (later...I learned they were not Aspen...but some kind of hybrid "whatever") in a meadow alongside a beautiful home. As I was folding my tri-pod and walking back to my car...a gentlemen came out of the house and up to the road and greeted me. His name is Siegfried. I asked him if he drank red wine...he said "of course I do." Well...on road trips...I always carry a bottle of Cab in the trunk of my car...so I opened the bottle and Siegfried and I drank and chatted for a while. Siegfried used to work in the San Francisco bay area...my home town...so we talked about the Bay Area...our wives and families...where he lives now...and about half way through the bottle...the God damn government. After we finished the bottle...I asked him how far away from Quincy was I. He said less than ten minutes and asked me if I had a hotel reservation. I said no...but I hoped to find a decent place. Siegfried took out his cell and called his friends...Valerie and Mike (proprietors of Ada's Place ... http://www.adasplace.com/). He told them that he had a friend...me!...that needed a place to stay. When he hung-up...he told me where to find Ada's and that they were holding a cottage for me. He said it is THE BEST PLACE to stay...period. Siegfried and I exchanged contact information...shook hands...and I went into town. I drove into Quincy and Ada's Place was easy to find...right near the Plumas County Courthouse that looked fresh from the 1920s...as was the rest of the town...Hometown USA . I grew-up in Upstate New York...in the heart of the Adirondack Mountains...on Lake Champlain...it was like I was driving down my Main Street again. I was happy. Ada's Place looked like a painting from the Golden Book of Fairy Tales. I went to the front door and although open...I rang the bell and within seconds was greeted by Ms. Valerie and Mr. Mike. VERY FRIENDLY PEOPLE. I completed the check-in paper work while we chatted about my meeting with Siegfried and my reason for being in Quincy. A couple minutes later...Ms. Valerie escorted me to my cottage. I wish I could share photos here...because it was a white country cottage sitting across the street from the most famous tree in Quincy...Judge Theiler's tree (Google it). People from all over the world come to photograph and paint this tree...and here it was...sitting right outside my front window. I was happier. The rooms were clean...clean...clean...not a spot on the freshly vacuumed carpet. Not a stain on the furniture and I could tell no one EVER smoked in the rooms. The utilities (microwave...oven...refrigerator) were new and functional. It was the first time I wasn't afraid to drink out of the glass in the bathroom! This place is Four Stars...Five Diamonds...Six Thumbs Up. After I settled in...I wanted to go to dinner in town. So I called...that's right...Siegfried and he meet me at Valerie and Mike's house and we all had drinks...I told you they were friendly people. Then Siegfried...who seemed to know everyone in town...and I walked to dinner...and had another bottle of wine...but that's another story. I had a GREAT three days in Quincy! I left with some great photos...and lots of great new friends. I will definitely go to Quincy again...this time for spring flowers...and maybe with my wife. Ada's Place is probably the BEST place we have ever stayed at and this includes the condos in Hawaii! I found Ada's Place through tripadvisor.com and once again they were 100% right. Ada's Place consists of 4 cottages set in a quiet, woodsy block near downtown Quincy. Why did we love it? It was clean, quiet, sunny and comfortable. To use the phrase, "It's just like home," would be an insult--- It is BETTER than home! (Or at least our home) We stayed at Ruth's Cottage (the " smallest" of the cpttages) It is a large space with a comfy queen sized bed with a dresser, chairs and a bookshelf with some interesting titles. The bathroom has a shower/tub with plenty of towels and hooks. The living room area has a FULL kitchen with everything------ Stove and oven, microwave, full sized fridge, utensils,plates, glasses, mugs, pots and pans, coffee maker, tea, Peets Coffee, dishcloths and dish soap, pot holders, paper towels, etc. There is a table and chairs in the kitchen area plus comfy chairs in the living room area. There are magazines plus several tourist pamphlets on the coffee table. In case you are bored there is another bookshelf chock full of books and a CD player. There is also a TV with VHS in the bedroom area as well as a flat screen tv with a DVD in the living room area. There is also a deck in front with table and chairs where you can sit at night. They also have WiFi/ethernet. It was perfect. The owners, Mike and Valerie, could not be nicer. The price for our cottage with taxes and AAA discount was $107. Although we didn't see the Fall foliage we hoped to see we still felt like we "got away from it all" http://www.adasplace.com/cottage_rates.html Just an FYI .......this place is not fancy or upscale---no plush bathrobes or mints on the pillow. My group of three motorcycle riders rode in and were treated with exceptional courtesy by Mike and Valerie as they guided us to our cottages (one solo, one double with lower double bed and a loft fouton. The cottages were clean and fully equipped, and a convenient walk into town. They have thought of everything and we were comfortable and happy. I stayed at Ada's Place when I was in Quincy for business travel. If you find yourself in this beautiful area of northern California for business or leisure travel, this is the place you will want to stay. Upon my arrival Valerie met me at the main building and then took me back to Ruth's Garden cottage. It was cozy, warm (I was there at a very cold time), and comfortable. The kitchenette has everything needed for a quick breakfast or to cook a whole meal if you are so inclined. The bed was fine, there is a good table to use as a desk, and the wireless internet was very strong. Ada's Place is walkable distance to town and several good restaurants (like Moon's and Patty's Thunder). Ada's Place has a long history in Quincy, and I can see why. read more

I have stayed at Ada's many times and always enjoyed the stay. But this time, with the new owners, the stay was way less that stellar. We were in the most expensive unit, the TV went down, the internet was very spotty, in and out. Still the inn keeper charged full price, didn't even offer a reduction. We were in the area for business and a little down time. We didn't get to enjoy the New Years Eve celebration on the TV or the New Years Day parade on the TV, as at neither time was the satellite working. All the other units were working just fine. Very Disappointing stay. I do like the peace and quiet, but I also have business to conduct and with the internet in and out, it was impossible. read more

I stayed here on the recommendation of a business client and I was so surprised! After a week of various motels across the state Ada's Place was an oasis! I couldn't believe how at home I felt and what a comfortable night I had staying in Ada's Cottage. I really have to say that Valerie and Mike are exceptionally nice and the "homes" they have for rent are just like your grandma's place. They have full kitchens which have tea pots, tea, and coffee!!! I have stayed here twice. The first time was only for one night and the next time was for a week. Both times the place was quiet, clean and well cared for. We always find that the price is way more competatively priced than anythiing else in Quincy. Especially since you have the abilty to cook your own meals and not be dependent upon restraunts. They are on the "good" side of town, IMHO, and are within walking distance of the natural foods store, the courthouse, and most of downtown. Nice neighborhood and great owners. I actually I live in Quincy so why would I stay at Ada's Place for the night.? Because I needed some time by myself and some construction is going on at my house. I stayed in the West Wing cottage and it's so cozy that I stayed up until late at night just so I could enjoy my time alone reading a good novel. Now it's morning and I'm lying in bed drinking some tea just enjoying the quiet and warmth because it's about 7 degrees outside. If you come up in the next few hours you could also get a cottage and enjoy the Sparkle in downtown Quincy this evening and wake up to snow. But by Sunday the weather should be good for driving. read more

My boyfriend and I stayed here in Oct 2012. He loves nature and sketch B&Bs, while I am a fan of regular hotels, so I was skeptical at first. Turns out there was no need to worry, we both LOVED it here. The room and bathrooms are immaculately clean. Very charming atmosphere with each room fully furnished (with kitchen), plus games, books and area guides. The couple who owns the place is great. We were going up to Quincy to check out the fall foliage and seeing the area in general. I had read the previous reviews and decided to check out Ada's Place. This place does not disappoint. It has everything you could want in a home away from home. Mike and Valerie were extremely accommodating. Wonderful hosts. We stayed in Ruth's cottage and it was bright and sunny. The fall colors were beautiful especially right outside our cottage. We were lucky to be there for the first storm of the year and to hear rain (we are from Mission Viejo, So Ca and rarely get rain )on the roof at night was great!!. I stayed here for work and this place was only one of the few places that accept the state rate. I stayed in the West Wing Motel Cottage. It was amazing! Mike and Valerie are just the best hosts that one could want. They give such great hospitality and it's easy to tell they love what they do.
