The other was in the middle of a yard clean-up project that created a lot more brush and yard waste than I thought it would (and exhausted my supply of yard bags). A short walk to Belle's in both situations and I was back to work. The prices at Belle's are a bit higher than what you'll find at Home Depot or Lowes, but for me the extra cost is offset by the close proximity and helpfulness of the staff. There's something nice about walking into a hardware store where the aisles are narrow and are stacked floor to ceiling with products personally chosen by the owners after years of serving the neighborhood. For bigger projects, obviously, Lowes or HD will be a better deal and will give you more options in terms of various types of tools, hardware and other products, but as a local hardware store, Belle's really hits the spot.

So I went to Lowes, Walmart and Home Depot. None of them knew what I was looking for. It wasn't that hard. I knew I explained it right. On my way home, I drove past Poplar Place hardware store and made a u-turn (illegally?) and pulled into their parking lot. I was in there for a few seconds and was able to find one of the pieces I needed. I walked to the counter and told the man in terribly inaccurate terms what I was trying to accomplish. He said "oh, sure!" And walked to their vast collection of adapters and brought me exactly what I needed. I am never going to any of the monstrous stores again.
