First time here. My wife and I were bar hopping in the area and stumbled across this place. It was a Saturday between Christmas and New Years. We walked up to the door and saw it was empty. Red flag possibly but hey, you only live once. We figured we would try it. Very pleasantly surprised. We ordered the caprese, lobster bisque, ravioli and pasta buttera. No complaints here. And we're from NY! Service was prompt and friendly. All in all, we had a good meal. I read the reviews and saw that there were some negative experiences, which is always possible at any restaurant. We really liked this place and would come back. My only recommendation is that they play Italian music instead of the Spanish stuff they have playing hahahaha.

Hubs made reservations here after I said I wanted some hearty Italian. I couldn't eat after a certain time due to having surgery the next morning, so I wanted something to hold me over. We made reservations for 8 and arrived a bit ahead of time. We were warmly greeted and promptly seated. The restaurant was almost empty, save for an elderly couple. We placed our orders: chicken parm for hubs and puttanesca for myself. Hubs inquired about the chicken, specifically if it was thinly pounded--the way he prefers. He was told yes. Didn't think we needed to ask what type of pasta was used in the dish as we are accustomed to it being spaghetti traditionally. The dish arrived with a DRY THICK WHOLE CHICKEN BREAST AND ZITI!!! Hubs immediately lost his appetite. He took a bite of the chicken, which was thick, dry, hard overcooked. He was NOT happy. My puttanesca heavy handed on the black olives--over powered the dish which was spaghetti. I read the menu and for some reason it never crossed my mind that this dish had no meat. It was nothing special... just spaghetti olives and onions in a regular-degular sauce. We found the cuisine to be underwhelming. And not that money is a thing, BUT $4.95 for a 16oz bottle of soda--?? A bit insane! Also, there is a supplemental fee that's added to the bill. ( we paid in cash) We were just not impressed. The restaurant, however, is super cute! Quaint, initmate, low lighting, rustic Tuscan feel. The staff was warm, pleasant, and inviting. ( Would like to see Linguini Alla Carbonara on the menu)

Food was good!! I love a good Alfredo and this was really good tasting. The bread was fresh and delicious. We made reservations on Saturday early so it wasn't busy but I imagine as it gets later it would get pretty busy as it's small but quaint and really cute. Would for sure be back!

Tuscan blu is an amazing Italian restaurant in the old depot area in Raleigh The service was great on a Friday night dor a last minute reservation We had the Tuscan appetizer which was a generous portion of prosciutto and pecorino cheese, as well as a classic caprese salad For mains we went with a spicy seafood diavolo and fettuccine con pollo Outstanding paired with a montopulciano red Last but not least was the tiramisu We really enjoyed and will be back!

My boyfriend and I had the very best time. The waiter was great. I appreciated that once our meals were served, our waiter did not interrupt and let us enjoy our food together. Everything we had was to die for. I had the lobster ravioli and he had the pesto gnocchi. We ate every bite and it was absolutely delicious. You could taste the fresh basil in the pesto and the fresh lobster in the ravioli. We also had tiramisu and the limoncello cake for dessert. Both were also amazing. We will definitely be making this a regular date night spot.

Copy of receipt see $4.95 ice tea and "Supplemental Fee" of $20.40 aka credit card fee.

The pumpkin arancini is a stroke of genius and should be the first thing you order! I had the sea bass (catch of the day) also unique, with olives and blistered tomatoes. Light, perfectly done & flavorful: exquisite. The ravioli with boar meat is an option too interesting to pass up, and it did not disappoint. The cocktail selection was solid- I was especially pleased to see a nod to classic cocktails that were expertly done. The wine list is unusual. When we inquired about it, the waiter said the owners of the restaurant, both sommeliers, continue to develop their list based on what is available due to tariffs and the related challenges with sourcing. So, for an Italian restaurant offering wine selections from Turkey and Chile, there were big shoes to fill, and the wines were lovely- for each dish we ordered. Cannoli for dessert (1?) was delicious. Next time we hope to try the key lime panna cota or other offerings, they looked straightforward on the menu, but I am certain they will be a post-dinner delight that reflects the thoughtfulness of the rest of the menu.

Butter chicken was very scrumptious though my son was not so hot about the arugula side. Eggplant parm was really good - the smoked mozzarella really made it luscious. We also tried pork chop and it was not bad should probably try the flank steak instead. I had chocolate cannoli- the cream was rich but not overly sweet - very nice. Tiramisu was also more flavor than sweet which is what we love. Waiter was very attentive and helpful in suggesting dishes. Overall - if I don't count the mishap on seating - it was a good experience.

Spicy sausage pizza…read more *Spicy sausage pizzzzaaaahhhh!* Had a very pleasant evening here with friends and fam. Wasn't well planned so we just winged it with a party of 11. We entered through a big heavy wooden door into the quasi-dark atmosphere and were promptly seated, despite most of the tables being occupied. We were given a two top and started with chips and guacamole. I was impressed with the chips, they were a little extra thick, had tiny bubbles in them. Certainly a far departure from the typical thin, overly salty chip found at most restaurants and grocery stores. Excellent guac with a little pico and lime wedge on the side. I ordered the Baja bowl with shredded adobo chicken. The bowl had green rice, black beans, a whole lot of kale, tomatillo sauce, pickled red onions, crema, and cilantro. It needed a little more, so I added in some of the guac, a few chips I crumbled in my hands for some crunch, and some fresh lime juice. Noah did a good job keeping our water glasses full and he was quite friendly. However, the restroom situation is a bit difficult. There are two small unisex bathrooms, both of which have to be locked. There can't be more than one person in there at the same time, so plan accordingly. Granted, since there isn't much space in the restaurant, it's not as if they have a ton of options.

The restaurant is nice and dimly lit with plenty of seating, but you will have to find street parking around Glenwood. We were a party of 6 and they pulled together tables to accommodate us. Our server was a little slow but still friendly. For starters we got a Margherita pizza, calamari, the grilled caesar, and they brought us a complimentary bread basket with oil. Everything except the caesar was good. I guess we didn't expect the caesar to taste THAT charred and the lettuce to not be chopped. For main entrees, we ordered lasagna, lobster ravioli, penne alla vodka, and alfredo. The vodka pasta and lasagna were unflavored and disliked among the table. I would not recommend those dishes. The alfredo was okay. The best dish was the lobster ravioli.

Bottom line: Lunch at Flour & Barrel was great! Small but nice selection of items on their lunch…read moremenu. The Radiatore small pasta was delicious and satisfying while just the right size for lunch, adding chicken for a protein boost. My friend enjoyed the Chicken Parm Sando and Kardashian Chopped Salad. Good service in a surprisingly well decorated atmosphere, I would come back to Flour & Barrel for more Italian goodness! The Deets: I wanted to catch up with a friend over a weekday lunch and we scoped out Flour & Barrel in DTR to do just that. When entering in from the pretty nondescript exterior/entrance on the corner of North and Harrington Streets, it becomes a colorful well decorated bistro/bar type feeling inside which is welcoming. We were shown to our table next to one of the wide windows facing North St, I liked this table with lots of natural light and yes, I am a people watcher as well. The server took our drink orders and asked if we had any questions about the menu. The lunch menu is pretty succinct but well represented, offering focaccia sandwiches (sandos), small pastas (pasta handmade in-house), and salads. It also has a wine and craft beer selection also if needed. My friend went with the Chicken Parmesan Focaccia Sando (has pomodoro, mozzarella, and basil) with Kardashian Chopped Salad (made with romaine, salami, provolone, piquillo peppers, artichoke, and garbanzo) for a side while I chose the Radiatore small pasta selection. The Radiatore is described on the menu as "our version of carbonara but creamier / guanciale / egg" so naturally it caught my eye. I am usually pretty cut and dry about wanting carbonara to be the traditional type but since they stated upfront that this is their version, I was willing to give it a go. I am glad I did, as this pasta dish was great. The serving was the perfect size for lunch, plus I was able to add chicken to it as well. The sauce was creamy and delicious, going well with the al dente pasta. This meal was most satisfying and I would love to get this one again in the future. My friend really enjoyed the sando so much, he had originally planned to eat half and take the other half home...that didn't work out the way he planned as he devoured the whole sandwich there, it was that good. He also enjoyed the salad as well. Our server did well checking on us and making sure we had what we needed. I am so glad we decided to try out Flour & Barrel for lunch, it worked out perfectly and was a very enjoyable meal.
