Being from Buffalo, I've been looking for good wings, and I thought I found them at Turtle Tavern, but every time I order wings hot/spicy, they come out mild. I thought I'd give them one last try to get it right so I could recommend them to other Buffalo expats, but when I explained to the bartender that I was only complaining because I wanted to help, he said, "I never complain about food or send it back. If it's not good, I just don't go back." I can take a hint. I won't go back. read more

Came here after golfing today, around noon. Sat at the bar and Heather, the bartender, served us immediately and made sure golf was on the closest TV. Very thoughtful. She made an amazing key lime martini. We each had a fantastic, fresh bowl of chili and shared an order of Las Vegas wings. If you go here, try the Las Vegas wings-you will not be disappointed. It's your typical hole in the wall sports bar. Cheap food and drinks while you watch your game. My wife had a tiramisu martini and loved it. We shared the crab soup, Mahi tacos and wings. Hey, I've only been there twice, but it felt very clicky to me. It wasn't easy to talk to anyone if you didn't know anyone. Food was basic bar food. Martinis were in a small martini glass. Cosmos were not acceptable. There's nothing wrong with the place if you fit in with the crowd. They seemed very nice, but just were not very accepting. read more

If there were ZERO star option I would select it. For a local pub that has been there for quite some time, it has since lost all of its charm and ALL of MY patronage. I will GLADLY spend my money, time and Birthday elsewhere. I undertand it is football Sunday, but the place wasnt even busy. Walked in as usual, self seating by the bar (not at the bar) because there were some older people elbow glued to the 10 secounter. No problem, sat down for 25 minutes watching every staff server including the bartender completely ignore us, not even a hello, will be right with you, be right there, a heads up. Rude! Inconsiderate! Unprofessional! No management in sight, just employees screwing around ignoring us. Will not return, even went out of our way to go and invited about 8 friends to meet us. Terrible, Terrible, shame on all of you that work that little tiny pub. It must be only your friends and family that go there and get special treatment...meaning actual courtesy and service. I even gave it another try after not being there for a year when my chicken wing order was burnt and had feathers still on the wing sticking out and served that way. Unbelievable! Excellent food. The food is pretty good. Friendly, Local bar. Comfortable to sit there alone and order. Reminds of the old dive bars of my college years. Portions are small. Prices are reasonable. But, I think it's a bit pricey for the portions. Give perogies we're $14.00. I think that was over priced for the amount of food on the plate. A different time I am Had the Gyro sandwich a few weeks ago. Tasty but it came with three triangular stale pieces pita bread. And about 5 pieces of gyro meat. Never in my life have I been so appalled and infuriated over service in a restaurant.. I ordered On the phone And I was told to come by in 15 minutes. I have a service dog that I need At all times and I brought him in with me. I held him under my arm just to pick up the food. As soon as I walked in the restaurant the bartender started screaming at me telling me no dogs were allowed I then told him that he is a service dog and I'm only here to pick up my food and leave not that that mattered. it's illegal to not be able to bring a service dog into a facility. He continued to scream at me until I said screw it and I left. never in my life have I been so infuriated with a business. They will never get my business again and I will go to social media and get that all over the place!! read more

Definitely a hidden gem that you would never know about unless someone told you or you're from the area. I found out this place from a Facebook group and I can 100% tell you, if you're looking for the epitome of a neighborhood, down to earth, casual, non-judgemental place with awesome food and prices, this is definitely it. I got the Las Vegas chicken wings and the mild / garlic chcken wings and both were incredible. The las Vegas wings, however, the winner by far. Highly recommend this place and highly recommend you try the Las Vegas wings. read more

This place was a joke tonight. I moved away a year ago and thought I'd stop in for a cocktail. When I stopped my friend had a service dog and Bev the owner refused us service. We then chose to still patronize the business outside and while having a beer we were told that we needed to get up and leave as they were closing. The inside was not clearing out. I sent in and talked to Bev and was told whatever. I said, "Bev I moved away and decided to stop here. I also reminded her that when she opened we were there every night." Bev then said that was 4 years ago I don't need you now, finish your drinks and leave. So we left as I cursed her out, and instead of her being a business owner and doing the right thing her customers forced us out of there. read more

My wings were burnt. Not charred, but crusty burnt. Had to cut off the burned parts which didn't leave much meat. No way any chef/cook worth their salt would serve these. It was a takeout order so I didn't bother returning them. The Big Ten salad was good. The atmosphere? Lol, a bunch of senior guys at the bar looking blah. The hostess, bartender was very nice and bubbly. I guess her energy was too exhausting for these guys lol. All this being said, I will give them a second try. read more

Sat at the bar ordered Guinness, Tara forgot about sitting pour waiting to be filled, she was very pleasant but was overwhelmed As the bar filled up, in addition she served some high tops. Was new to this establishment, and seemed overwhelmed with computer system. Ordered small order of wings, took half hour, wings were large and meaty Definitely a local place, had to sit and listen to a fowl mouth in the presence of a local female. Simple, friendly, good beer, no frills. Okay so... yes... this is a hole in the wall joint but we have been here 4 or 5 times now just for a quick beer on the way home or to meet a few friends and we are always greeted w a smile. We have meet several of the bartenders and they are all so friendly and you really feel like they care when they say "how was your day", "hope we see you again". The name of the place is Turtle Tavern, why not have Terrapin Beers? The owner touts Maryland as home. Why not have Maryland based craft beers like Heavy Seas or anything else?
