This is the type of bar you find up and down Duval Street in Key West. Two guys on stage playing classic rock tunes. The circle bar was packed with the echoes of laughter as we entered. Beer placards affixed to the walls with an out of place five foot tall orange gorilla holding a huge bottle of Dom Perignon over his head. No reservations permitted but got seated immediately. This is the place to go for a cheap happy hour and big hamburgers. Ordered the Big Smokey Bacon Burger with well done onion rings. I must say, the burger was absolutely delicious and the cold craft beer complemented it perfectly. The gender neutral bathroom was clean and fit the dive bar mold with an array of stickers covering the paper towel dispensor with black chalk boards wrapped around the walls. Lots of strange chalk designs but could not find the piece of chalk to leave my mark. For some odd reason half the toilet paper case was on the floor. The gray porcelain floor and wall tiles gave the shabby room a modern twist. Fun place with great burgers and an attitude. read more

I found Johnnie Brown's online, well before I ever decided to move to Florida. It looked like the kind of place that I would have dreamt to hang out at. An old school retro american motorcycle/live music venue minutes from the beach. And I bet you it was. Before that billion dollar corporation had purchased it. Mind you, with all that money --they can't manage to put a lock on their bathroom door or keep their toilet paper full. Most of the bands are semi karaoke with the backup musicians all pretending to play. Don't take my word for it, just watch for a couple seconds, and you'll figure it out. Double roads and funky biscuit and many other music venues around this neighborhood, between Boca and Jupiter, have actual bands playing actual musical instruments. So if you're interested in that, you might want to go elsewhere. I don't really come here for the music. I sort of come here too just watch the interesting array of characters that pop inside. And just to relax while having a drink. The music is OK though. I guess it's better than just listening to TouchTunes. And some of the Fake musicians do put on a good show. The biggest problem with the spot is the attitude of the bartenders. I'm not saying that they're bad people. But they're really not happy. And the odd thing is, having lived in Santa Barbara and many other beach towns, it's a rare thing to live in such a beautiful place or working in one at least, and be so pissed off. Particularly when you're young. So I don't know what their problem is, but I think whoever owns this place should take them on a field trip or something. Maybe buy them a new watch or a car or whatever. Still, there are exceptions. And it's not a bad place if you're going be in tourist trap Delray. Which I would avoid in general. You can hear the music coming from this place from far. They had a really good live band playing but it seems they always have live music here. The atmosphere is great. This was one fun place to hang out. The crowd was mixed. I didn't see any waitress. The tables were wet and not cleared. You just sat and pushed things to the side. Stopped by Johnnie Brown's in Delray Beach on a Sunday afternoon after lunch. They had a band performing, which made for a fun vibe. My friend and I snagged a couple of chairs at the small bar to keep catching up. The crowd was mostly seasoned in age folks just enjoying themselves, which surprisingly added to the atmosphere. One lady was trying to flirt with my friend, which was bold considering most would have thought we were a couple. All in fun or liquid courage, I wonder. Service was a bit of a miss -- the bartender was hella cool but struggled with the frozen drinks, and mine came less than half frozen. After that, we stuck with bottles of beer. This is the place to go for hamburgers and live music. At the corner of Atlantic Ave and the train tracks with no cover charge. Had a tiki hut feel and a small menu. Big burger with a soft bun with a mountain of French fries covered with Parmesan cheese but the fries were a little soggy. Had the hummus and vegetable appetizer and it was very fresh. My daughter and hubby had onion rings that were very big and crispy. The food was ready quick and waiter was always nearby. Prices very middy range for a tourist area. The burger was juicy and pretty good but it was lacking cheese I don't know if they just use thin slices but if I were to go back I'd ask for extra cheese. The garlic parm fries were really good and my husband was stealing them off my plate. I'd defintely come back here if I wanted a safe bet on food and not trying to venture out. Such a great place to relax, enjoy some tunes, and people-watch. I've been here several times throughout the day, and it never fails to deliver a good time. GIACO POP ROCK - Awesome Band!!! Okay... last night at Johnnie Brown's was just GOOD. From the minute they started playing, the energy in the bar changed!!! Real band. Real sound. Straight up classic rock, 70s, 80s, the songs you know in two seconds and can't help but sing. And they were so engaging! They were getting everyone into it. Talking to the crowd, making eye contact, hyping people up. You could tell he actually cared that everyone was having a great time, and that kind of energy spreads fast. The dance floor filled up quickly. People were actually into it. Singing. Dancing. Smiling at each other. It had that old-school rock energy that makes the whole place feel alive. Honestly, it was so refreshing to hear that kind of Classic Rock on that stage again. That's the sound that just feels right there and that's what Johnnie Brown's is all about! This self seating restaurant is pretty good and a fun scene on the main strip of Delray Beach. There is live music and lots of waiters all around. Took about 7 minutes to see a server last night after-- he was alright. Not super attentive but the food and drinks came out quickly and tasted pretty good. My dad was not a big fan of the not pictured coconut shrimp but I liked them a lot with the sauce they were served with. The ribs were very tender. The bbq quesadilla was not very melted with cheese. Johnnie Browns is a great spot for live music and good food. I've been a few times and every time I go, I'm really impressed with the quality of the food and mix of spices in each dish. The nachos are huge and perfect for a group . The coconut shrimp were crispy and served with a mango chutney! One of my favorite appetizers is the grilled marinated chicken breast with toasted pita and tzatziki sauce! Yum! My favorite part of the meal was the Baja Chicken Sandwich. First of all what a fun place...as me and my friend walked in the incredible house band was playing one of my favorite carlos Santana songs " black magic woman" which for the sake of trivia was performed by santana at the 2nd woodstock in 94 not at the original woodstock. Located right near the train tracks this place has got some personality. In fact the sign there says if youvare ordering shots whilst the train goes by then your shot is half off. Go figure. The band was awesome and they performed classick rock hits , funk and some other tunes like " another brick in the wall "and purple rain". People are lining outside on Saturday night to see this band play. These girls shared the crazy big ass nachos with us because when you order them you cant finish them. One of the first places I came to when I moved to Florida 25yrs ago. It has changed since. Used to be a Harley hangout. Service is on point. Very attentive.
