I've been to Sandbar plenty of times. It's a rare tiki bar spot along this stretch of Delray. Almost all the other spots, of which there are few, are high end spots where you might wear a blazer. But this spot, that's right on A1A, you walk up to the bar through sand, while outside looking at the distant waves. We were doing a random walk after brunch in Delray last weekend and with little more than a look at each other we decided to have a beverage at Sandbar. The service was quick and solid. We had a couple of solid drinks, each. After that though we continued our walk, pleasantly perked up. There are better beach bars for sure,, but not in the Delray beach area. If you wanna smell the salt air and drink a rum drink with tunes, this is the spot. read more

Bobby the manager has drug this place through the dirt! This man needs training on customer service. We order drinks at the bar and a friend sat at a table, the waitress very kindly told us we couldn't unless we ordered. So we just stood between the bar and table. The manager Bobby told the staff to not serve us because we were at a table, after we fixed the issue. I walked over to him to ask and he said that servers lose money if people sit there and not order (understandable) but we were no longer sitting there. I left ZERO tip for the bar staff after one round and wrote on the receipt why. They manager than came over and cut us off. All good! We will pay for good service not bc we are obligated to. ok. I never tried the food. The drinks were descent enough BUT the old man manager was the biggest douche bag I ever encountered. Absolutely no customer service skills. Talked to me like a child, after I was over-charged for a drink. The first drink I ordered was approx $20 and the second (same drink) was almost $30. Typical beach bar vibe and menu with a nice view of the ocean. I ordered the mahi tacos ($17). Unfortunately, they used tortillas not much bigger than silver dollars with the stuff piled on top. Impossible to pick up and eat like normal fish tacos. They were saucy, further adding to the impossibllity if eating them as one should eat a taco. The fish was either overcooked or it wasn't mahi. Tasty, slightly spicy, and acceptable, but not awesome. My only complaint about the drink options is that the choices are limited to the sweet cocktails and frozen concoctions and industrial beers on tap. Though typical for a beach bar, it would be nice to offer a few craft beer options. Overall, it's a good place to have a Bud Light, a pina colada, and some conch fritters with an ocean view. read more

The lava flow was really good. It tastes really fresh and the strawberry at the bottom made it really good. The pretzels bites were hot and soft, the cheese does have a little kick. We were told there was no happy hour because of Columbus Day, but since there was no signage and we had already ordered, the server kindly gave us the happy hour prices. This was genuinely the worst bar experience I have ever had, and I will never step foot in this place again. The staff is completely unprofessional, biased, and clearly have no idea how to handle situations fairly. A drunk woman started making rude comments toward my friend, and someone in her group told her to "watch your big fat ass" for no reason at all. When my friend defended herself, their whole group started getting aggressive, and one guy started trying to act tough and threatening us like we were the problem. We went to the bartender expecting him to at least listen to what happened, and instead he immediately took their side without even asking a single question. The second my friend called out the situation and said what everyone could already see, he decided to kick us out instead of dealing with the people who actually started everything. It was obvious he had already made up his mind before even hearing the story. The way we were treated felt completely unfair and honestly came across as straight up racist. I have never seen staff handle a situation so poorly. Instead of doing their job, they protected the people causing the problem and threw out the ones who were being harassed. That tells you everything you need to know about this place. If you want to go somewhere where the staff is rude, biased, and quick to blame the wrong people, then this is the bar for you. Otherwise, stay far away. There are way better places that actually know how to treat customers with respect, because this is easily the worst bar I've ever been to. read more

We were there 1/25 at 2:30 pm. The place had no empty seats but we got lucky and got a table by the bar. The drinks took a bit to get to get to us. The food came pretty quick. The hamburger and hot dog were very tasty. The DJ was EDM mix. The ambiance was chill beach but it was fun. I recommend it. read more

I was denied entry to this restaurant as a 7-month-pregnant woman accompanied by my trained service dog. This is a direct violation of federal law (ADA, Title III), which requires all restaurants to allow service dogs in all public areas. I was calm and compliant, answered all questions about my disability and I even presented my service-animal documentation despite the fact that businesses are not allowed to demand paperwork under ADA rules. Instead of following the law, the man at the entrance became aggressive, raised his voice at me, and caused unnecessary stress during my pregnancy. This was humiliating, discriminatory, and completely unacceptable. The entire encounter was recorded, and a formal discrimination complaint will be filed with the appropriate federal and state agencies. There were witnesses present. For clarity: under the Americans with Disabilities Act, restaurants cannot deny access to a person with a trained service dog, cannot request documentation, and cannot claim "policy" as an excuse. I had never tried this place my first three years of living in Boca. I decided to go there with one of my girl friends and have a moms night. I thought they frozen drinks were delicious. I was also very surprised that their food was really good. I thought it was a really fun beach bar. I thought their menu was good enough where they could also be a family restaurant during the day. What a great location. We visited for a great deal during happy hour from 4-7. The well drinks are half price and the Southwest egg rolls with dipping sauce were really good. The best part of the evening was our waitstaff and other employees. Calli was our first server always smiling and kept the water and drinks coming. Then Alyse took over and she was so personable, friendly, and enjoyable while she took great care of everyone. There were others that kept the conversation going. Even though it is an outdoor beach bar it was clean, including restrooms, and well maintained. We were there when the sun set and they lit the tiki torches and turned on red overhead lights.
