I have a very long history with Tung Hing. And this just might be the best Chinese bakery in the city. For the better part of the last thirty years, my mother has made the pilgrimage once a year to get the Jack Fruit (now called "Mixed Fruit") cake for my birthday. Ever since I was a kid, I've come to anticipate and savor that light mix of melon, cantaloupe and fruit on some of the best icing I've ever consumed. I basically make this a request once a year, because I can't go without my yearly fill of it. My recent visit to the Mississauga Chinese Centre reminded me that I needed to visit here, and I wasn't disappointed with the experience. It's a time capsule from 20 years ago, warts and all. Sure, the place isn't all that clean and the service is what you'd expect, but the selection is unmatched. Pork/chicken/hot dog/coconut buns for days, that damn cake (I was THIS close to buying one for myself and scarfing it down), little oddities like sticky rice in bamboo leaves, build-your-own pastry boxes... it's about as close to Chinatown as you can get without actually being in Toronto. In the end, I came out with an armful of pork buns and lots of nostalgic memories. I'm not being facetious when I say that if you love Chinese food, you need to make this bakery a destination. It is well worth the trip. Highly recommended.

My family wanted to pop buy and buy some treats. I'm not really into baked goods or sweets but I did happen to get a sesame bean ball pastry for a buck. Besides that they have plenty of single serving sized, individually wrapped treats, breads, pastries and a bunch of other pastries with meat like pork buns and others with chicken. They have trays and boxes at the front so you can fill your own box with the stuff that's not behind the glass but there's a lot of different Asian baked goods to be had here.

BBQ pork bun, sort of...

After at least two years, I dropped by this mall for groceries. I was looking forward to picking up a few bakery items from Tung Hing. They had the standard fare stuff, and they looked okay, but they were all very disappointing. They were all dry and tasteless, but the worst offence is the utter lack of filling. The BBQ pork bun had little more than a tiny pocket of pork. Other places in Mississuaga make buns far better.

We'd just finished a delicious meal and I was in the mood for some dessert, preferably a cookie. A…read morelittle googling offered up French Corner as a suggestion, so we headed right over. The place was full of delicious-looking desserts, but I stuck by my cookie craving and wound up grabbing a Florentine. It's fantastic. It had a deep, super rich caramel flavor I found irresistible, while the chocolate coating on half of the cookie was equally satisfying. I also bought some Mini Xmas Cookies to try later and they were equally top-notch. French Corner is the real deal. I'll definitely be returning.

In the box was: White Chocolate Peach Mousse Fruit Tart Coconut Exotic Fruit Pistachio Mousse Raspberry Mousse Log Cake Aesthetically, all the pastries looked amazing! I felt bad cutting them to take a bite! My favourite is the Coconut Exotic Fruit. All the layers tied nicely together and tasted really good! The fruit tart was also good. Im not the biggest fan of peach but it was not bad as well. The Raspberry Mousse Cake was well balanced and not too sweet or tart. Sadly to say the Pistachio Mousse that was shaped as a cute Christmas tree was my least favourite. As this was a gift, I did not visit the location in person or know the price, but I do want to eat other selection of pastries and cakes if I get the chance!

We sat down at one of eight tables before I went up to the counter to place our order. The cashier began entering the order into the cash register beginning with the drinks, followed by the desert selections.... Big mistake! I should have asked my parents to look over the pastry displays and select what they wanted first, before ordering. Embarrassingly, after about 3 long minutes of them walking back & forth viewing each of the pastry displays, the cashier received our picks and then she was able to finalized the payment. Fresh desserts for a reasonable price. (btw, there is no special discount if you order large quantities of an item). The coffee brew was strong the way I like it, but way too strong for my parents. I had to ask our server to dilute it by adding 50% more hot water to their cups. Friendly service. No Wi-Fi. I will definitely come back to pick up other desserts and try their hot sandwiches.

It's a MASSIVE disappointment and truly they need to just get rid of it off their menu. 0/10. Tosta Mista is ok, but the staple of Portuguese quick snacks - the bifana - is embarrassing.
