Update since my last review over two years ago... I was eyeing a Tumi backpack off their website - but the fact that it wasn't available at the Tumi nearby me (at South Coast Plaza) made me a bit iffy. When buying backpacks/luggage, I like to be able to see and feel the quality, size it up, look at all the different compartments, etc. Since Orange County didn't have a Tumi outlet store - I remembered this one in Carlsbad where I had bought my wallet a few years ago. While they didn't have the exact model I wanted off their website (Alpha Bravo Davis) - I settled on the Parrish 16" backpack after browsing their vast selection here. Dassa (sp?) was totally awesome and provided attentive, personalized service. When I had zeroed in on the Parrish and was looking it over - she suggested removing the interior "paper puffs" that came with the backpack to help it stand up. She explained that this would allow me to really see the true dimensions of the pack, and explore all the different compartments - very thoughtful suggestion! When I decided to get the pack, I asked for a non-display model, and Dassa happily obliged. Dassa was also able to get my pack monogrammed - and while there was a palette of different colors to choose from - she helped narrow it down to two colors that she felt would look best, considering my pack's black/gray/blue blend of colors. Totally appreciative of that - since I would've otherwise spent much more time making that decision. Finally, I'm happy that I landed an amazing deal on this backpack - it was half off its full retail price. It ended up costing less than the model that I had originally wanted off the Tumi website. Monogramming the nameplate was complimentary. Great price for a brand known worldwide for its quality, style, function. Thanks, Dassa for taking such great care of me! read more

I was in the store on December 27 with my husband to look for a backpack and luggage. We were so happy with our experience that day during a busy weekend. Ms. Chen was fabulous and guided us through every step until we found the perfect package! She was professional , friendly and knowledgeable about the products in details. Today I took my MacBook to the Tumi store to get a backpack. I wanted to see the fit and wanted a pack with more structure. I wasn't dressed up but who does these days. The salesman did greet me while he was finishing a transaction but as I passed the other sales associate while looking at the packs she didn't even look up or move aside so I could look at the lower shelves. She then went to him and started taking about the construction on the I-5 coming to work. As I left they were still in deep conversation about the commute. I guess I'll have to spend my gift certificate at a retail location. That's ok because my personal reference is the Ghurka brand. For the same price I can get a backpack that is all leather - I love the attention to detail when they ship- all wrapped nicely with a dust bag. If you want a Tumi you better dress up if you want anyone to speak to you. read more

We got to the outlet at 11, the Tumi store was schedule to open at 11. We waited as the store was closed. At 11:04 the store clerk sauntered down the mall opened the door let herself in and proceeded to open counting money we waited and waited and waited, other people started to gather she didn't even acknowledge us and slowly counted her drawer. We finally left at 11:25 as she was still slowly counting the cash drawer! We didn't have all day so we left. read more

Tumi is one of my favourite brand. I like it for their quality & designs. Their wallets have the RFID protection. Their higher end bags & luaggages has a serial number in them. If its lost in any part of the world bring it in to a tumi store and they can scan it and track the owner. They have a 5 years warranties and can get in fix if needed. Some of the bags you can personalize it. I buy it here and can get it engrave at any tumi locations worldwide. I like the outlet as i can pick up some pieces as gifts. Here i found some, keychains, money clip and a wallet. read more

We both had purchase carry-on's and backpacks and some other things from South Coast not to not ago but decided to go bigger. Wow amazing service here! Walked in here out of curiosity to see if there's any cross shoulder bag that can be a good gift for my dad. I've seen Tumi stores many times but always thought they only sell men's dressy leather goods...nope! They're actually famous for their durable and stylish ballistic nylon! And guess what, I think a practical girl like me had her heart stolen by Tumi because of all the neat compartments, thoughtful design and durable, high quality material they use. Although it's all made in China, the quality control must've been very decent because I didn't see any threads flying or nicks to the material. You do pay for the quality. However, it's an outlet and they have selected items 50% or 60% off! If your bag is not on sale, make sure you wait... Not everything here looks nice. Some are clearly ugly styles that are bottom of the barrel from Nordstrom... And of course I have to mention their excellent customer service! Friendly and helpful staff both times I came here! I came in looking for a spinner suitcase and ended up purchasing a laptop tote that was on sale. The selection here is limited (it is an outlet location), but they do have some great deals. The gal helping me, Amanda, was super friendly, very helpful and knowledgeable of the products, and not pushy at all. She showed me all the products that I was interested in looking at and mentioned how the products worked and what could be stored in the various pockets. I took a really long time to decide and she was very patient and understanding. The store even allowed my dog inside which was great since I needed my husband's help in deciding. I've used my new laptop tote for a week now traveling via plane and it works really well. It's a larger tote and can fit 2 laptops; I received one for work that was larger than expected, so I'm glad they both fit! The tote also fits over the extended handle of a suitcase which is convenient when traveling. The leather quality is great and Tumi even covers wear and tear for the first 12 months. The 5 year warranty is also honored for products purchased at the outlet. Tumi has quality products appropriate for a business traveler and at the outlet prices, it really isn't too much to spend on such a great product. I needed to get a gift card for my sister and was bummed at the thought of having to go all the way down to UTC to get it...or did I? I yelped Tumi to get the number of the UTC location and this location popped up. How did I not know Tumi was at the Carlsbad outlets? 10 minutes from me! Fail! I called this location to verify gift cards purchased at this location can be used at any regular Tumi store and they confirmed they could be. Within 30 min of me calling, I had the gift card in hand and was heading home. Now that I know that this store exists, I'll be stopping in more regularly. read more

While traveling for work & looking for a place to eat, I found this treasure! Over the last several months my Tumi backpack of nearly 8 years had started to show it's wear through my travels all across the USA. Although is perfect working order, the outside was showing it's wear. I was thrilled to discover this location which was brightly lit, very clean and organized. The had a umber of choices to select from. The two ladies who helped me inside were amazing. They were very patient as I went back to m hotel to get my old back pack to try placing my lap top and iPads and other supplies, folders in several new back packs to see which would work best. I was very impressed with their selection of small bags to hold device cords and outlets, Erica was fantastic and very patient with a professional attitude and she is a subject matter expert on Tumi products read more

The sales people were rude and stuck up. I get they're working at Tumi but the price of products shouldn't give the employees the freedom to act stuck up. Both assistants looked at me as if questioning why I was in there. I own many Tumi bags and was looking to gut another roller board. I was wearing shorts, flip flops, and a tee shirt as we were going to the beach afterwards. As the cliche goes, you shouldn't judge a book by its cover. Conversely we went to the Coach store where we were greeted with smiles and a genuine desire to help. We ended up buying several Coach products. Shame on you Tumi Carlsbad! read more

My son purchased a cross body bag for me for Christmas and I went to exchange it just a few days later for a different color. Right away I encountered an attitude from one of sales associates and I was insulted when she commented that I did not have any proof that I had purchased the bag. Granted I did not have my receipt but she did not need to doubt my honesty to make the point that I need a receipt for an exchange. I returned a few hours later with receipt in hand only to encounter more attitude and difficulty. Now she wanted my name and contact information -- again all I wanted to do was exchange for color. With personal information provided, she now tells me that they don't have the color I want and the nearest store is in Palm Springs. "Can you order it?," I asked. "No," she replied. That's it, I was done. Fast forward to today and my son goes in to return the bag altogether. He presents the bag (stilled tagged), his receipt and credit card but is now asked to show ID. Really? From start to finish, this was simply NOT the experience I expect from a luxury brand. I've owned their products for decades but I think I'm done. read more

My husband and I came in to make an exchange and request a repair on a leather briefcase. Elliot greeted us with a wonderful smile and helpful attitude. Definitely different from some places where greetings can feel like auto-mode and assistants seem to 'hover' over you. He handled both our return and repair (very efficiently and thoroughly btw) as we continued shopping in the store. When we did have questions, Elliott was above and beyond in knowledge, service, general helpfulness, ideas, options and expertise. Above all, Elliot was simply a truly genuine person and it showed. We're both seasoned travelers and avid shoppers so we've seen our fair share of customer service from around the world. Extremely surprised and very pleasantly pleased with Elliot and Tumi. If only there were more Elliot's... but then again, it might mean we'd start living paycheck to paycheck with how much MORE we'd end up purchasing!
