Let me start this off by saying, we did end up returning the luggage which we purchased here. That being said. The sales person / manager here was amazing. He was kind, helpful and very knowledgeable. They were running a good sale, and also were happy to match prices if you happened to find it cheaper on another US site. We were not sure it would do what we wanted, weird stating it that way, but we wanted to attempt a trip utilizing carryon only for 10 days (We were not able to successfully pack our test packing- hence the return). Returning the items was simple with no problems, and we were met by nothing but friendly assistance from the same man who sold us the luggage. My husband and I were entertaining the idea of trying to pack carry-on only and were in the market for the perfect carry-on sized soft luggage. Most of the suitcases in this location are hard sided, but they do have a couple soft sided options. While the selection was slim for what we were looking for, the customer service was phenomenal. We did end up taking two carry-on suitcases home to try to see if we could fit all of our items into them for an almost 2 week trip. I have to say we were not successful and did end up returning the items, but the customer service remained top-notch even through our return transaction. They do have several sales throughout the year, so I would recommend checking out when their next sale will be. Their prices were competitive and they were even willing to price match if we could find a better price somewhere else. The customer service definitely makes this store five stars, and I would consider shopping with them in the future especially if I was looking for a hard sided piece of luggage. read more

Were any of you aware that Samsonite bought Tumi a few years ago? In any case - they had a decent post-Christmas sale going on - a number of their items were already outlet-priced, but the post-sale added an additional 20% off the sale price. I was looking for a carry-on - smaller than the one I have at the moment, since overhead bins keep shrinking (looking at you Alaska Air/E175 jets). There's a wide selection of a little bit of everything here - from carry-ons, to checked luggage in varying sizes. Hardside and softside luggage. I noticed a few had the ballistic nylon type of fabric/look like Tumi did - which isn't a surprise considering they are in the same corporate family. Junko, one of the sales reps - checked in with me during my visit. She was very knowledgeable - and actually confirmed that the additional 20% discount was off the sale price - not the full retail price. This is a plus, since in many retail stores, discounts aren't usually compatible with other discounted pricing. A few items did catch my eye - but surprisingly enough, the option to monogram/personalize luggage here was missing - odd since their "sister" store Tumi, in the same shopping plaza did offer monogramming. I settled on picking up an accessory, and engaged in a pleasant conversation with Junko about my lengthy experience (all positive) with Samsonite products, curiosity about why they didn't offer monogramming, since they are a relatively upscale brand (and again, owns Tumi). She was very friendly and knowledgeable about their products and the area. Commitments are something that we all hope to count on, but when it's time for them to be recognized we sometimes hold our breath during the moment of truth when they will either be honored or...not so much. Several years ago Dana and I purchased an entire set of Samsonite luggage in the hopes of traveling the world together. Since then we've been blessed to travel across the country many times and also "across the pond" to Europe on several occasions. During each of those trips our luggage has served us dutifully, but there's been a toll to be paid when they've been less than gingerly "handled" at various airports. If you've ever wondered what machinery is involved in the processing of your bags between the check-in counter and the underbelly of the airplane, I can assure you that its diet consists primarily of zipper tags (given how many times ours have mysteriously disappeared by the time we retrieved our bags at the baggage carrousel). When we met Greg at our local store and inquired as to whether or not repairs might still be covered under Samsonite's 10-year warranty (after purchasing our luggage 9 years ago), he assured us that finding out was worth our time. Greg never searched for a loophole within the warranty language, and to their credit, neither did Samsonite. Our warranty service requests were fully honored without question. With all the traveling that I do it's important to have some quality luggage. Yes Samsonite is pretty expensive but you get what you pay for. I love Samsonite because it's tough but some of the luggage also looks good. Even though this location is an outlet the prices are still expensive. We were pleasantly surprised at the wealth of knowledge one of the clerks offered at this store. He's worked in the luggage industry a long time and was very helpful. I wouldn't say they have TONS of selection, but a decent amount of suitcase models in hard/soft-side in different colors, sizes and weights, as well as some smaller bags like backpacks, along with accessories like umbrellas and suitcase covers, etc. The prices are discounted, but not what I'd call 'cheap'. I'd give an extra star they were further discounted being that the store is at an outlet mall. They conveniently have a couple of tables in the store where you can lay the suitcases and open them up to inspect them, which is handy. We purchased a case but ultimately returned it after we found one elsewhere we liked better and at a lot lesser price. They offered a no-hassle return with the receipt and the suitcase being unused with the tags still on. The store faces the parking lot on the west side of the mall. There is plenty of free parking, but it does fill up quickly, especially on the weekends. read more

Was at the outlet today and needed to buy one carry on luggage... the time was 7:39 pm and they closed at 8:00 pm. So I was going to make it fast as my trip is at 11:40 am today... I wasn't going to write this review but considering it was raining and I was literally THE ONLY PERSON IN THE STORE I felt that the associate could have greeted me or asked if I needed help ..... NOPE - NOT ONE WORD and I walked around for a bit !!! He did give me a quick glance and maybe he decided that I wasn't going to purchase anything ....... So I left and I'll just buy a new carry on in San Francisco once I get there ... I wanted to replace my luggage because the inside ripped and I didn't like what I saw at TUMI - However the customer service was exceptional at TUMI , perhaps Samsonite doesn't need to sell but a set number of items !!!! I went into the Carlsbad Samsonite factory store to drop off a suitcase I had just purchased a few months ago. The handle would not go down and was an issue off and on. Greg set the case up to be sent to the repair shop knowing I had a trip planned and needed it as soon as possible. Greg was eager to get the case back to me on time and help me out. Greg called me shortly after I left the store to get me an update on when I could expect it back. He did everything he could to expedite the case for me. I have gone into this shop a few times and have found Greg to be attentive, kind and helpful to each and every customer that walks in. I went to look for wheeled laptop cases. I had looked at some online on websites, like Amazon, and department stores. and recalled the prices. They showed me two cases, both were substantially more than any of the prices online or in department stores. I pointed this out to the salesperson. He said that they would give a 20% discount. I pointed out that, even with a 20% discount, their price was still higher - by about 30% - than available online. The salesperson said that they would match the online price. Gee, thanks. This store is an 'outlet,' implying that their prices are less than a regular retail store. What they were charging was MORE than what these articles would cost at Macy's and some other stores. The price only started to cone down when I pointed out how outrageously high it was. What they were counting on, in my opinion, was that a customer would think that the price marked on the laptop was was a 'bargain price,' because they were in an 'outlet store ' In my opinion, thus is SLEAZY In other words, in my opinion, not only does this store not offer discounted prices, but they are actually HIGHER that places like Macy's. My opinion is that one SHOULD NOT SHOP HERE. read more

Bottom Line: Not the most exciting store but a good place to put hands on Samsonite products. As much as I love online shopping I feel like luggage is one of those things that you need to really feel and dig into to know if it's going to work for your purposes. As a frequent traveler I've gotten picky about the functionality of my luggage so the Samsonite Outlet was a good place to do some exploring, compare sizes, feel the bag's weight, test the wheels, etc. The prices seem fair and comparable to prices I've seen on Amazon for the same or similar bags. One associate was minimally helpful, almost dismissive, but the other was great. read more

Each time I went, the female sales person was dismissive, made me feel like I was an imposition and she was very unhelpful. Super expensive luggage! Most def not in my price range at all. But it's super nice! As some one who travels I know my luggage is going to get banged up and thrown around...I believe I saw some hard cases for those who are into that. Just be ready to at least spend around $200.....I'm someone who ships at Walmart and Target so I'm def not going there to buy luggage any time soon! Needed to grab a new suitcase before a long trip and was switching brands from Travel Pro to a hardside Samsonite. I had done my research before I went in but both of the salespeople were helpful and gave me loads on info on the two styles I was debating on. The selection is not massive but they do have a good stock and it is easy to find, get parking, and maybe do some other shopping while you're there. Beyond useless, not-existent customer service. Flew in from New York and as I was lifting my overnight travel suitcase the handle came off into my hand. How wonderful. This is a four month old that had literally been taken on two trips prior to this one. I finally got to my destination, handle coming off three more times in the process, and I called the store for assistance. Was informed that the bag would need to be sent out for repair, which is a two week process. The guy I spoke to was like, you should just take it back to New York and take care of there. Thanks genius, that will be REALLY awesome when I have to pick the back up bear hug style for security, going up stairs, putting it in the overhead compartment, etc I don't know how the other reviewers received such excellent service but I plan on filling a dispute with my credit card company immediately for a faulty product. read more

After all of our travels the last couple of months, one of my suitcases got abused and the handle was completely ripped from the screws. It needed to be completely replaced. We purchased them several years ago at another location but brought them into this store to get fixed. We didn't have any issues with the repair process. In fact, we were super impressed. They didn't ask to see a receipt, ask questions, didn't make excuses, they just took our information down and said they'd ship it to us directly as soon as the repairs were complete. They quoted us 2 weeks but we actually got it in the mail 4 days later. We were amazed. The suitcase looked as good as new and we were very pleased with the ease of getting it repaired. I'd highly recommend this store as well as the Samsonite product because they do stand behind their warranties. read more

We were at the outlet mall in search of shoes for the BF, and happened to notice the Samsonite shop...Since 1) my black suitcase that a million other people have had just recently been taken inadvertently by another hotel guest of where I was staying and 2) the pull handle was all jacked up rendering it basically useless, I was in need of new NON black luggage!:) The decisions can be overwhelming; spinner, duffle, hard case, nylon, poly, etc etc etc. The staff was really really helpful, and very patient with indecisive me:) Since the BF and I were on our scooter, we were able to settle up, and come back later to pick everything up, which was pretty cool. They had a great sale going on, BOGO half off, PLUS if you have AAA, you get an ADDITIONAL 20% off! You might pay a little more for the Samsonite name, but they have been at this for a while, and kinda know what they're doing. I also liked the fact that this shop is an authorized repair drop off so if something were to go wrong with my luggage, I can bring it right in. For me, that was the deciding factor between buying here vs ebags or someplace else online. read more

**Rating the Luggage Repair Service** Came in to drop off my Samsonite Carbon 2010 Rollaboard that I've had for about 10 years without any issues. The rubber on the wheels started to crack and eventually the tread fell off completely on ONE wheel. I dropped this off at the Samsonite store and the attendant was super friendly, had my sign a simple form, and the luggage was sent off to El Camino Luggage Repair and would be delivered back to my home. Literally, they charged me nothing to fix the wheel tread and actually they replaced BOTH entire wheels with brand new versions with I'm guessing better quality ones. The luggage was delivered to my home in great shape in less than two weeks. Wow! read more

HORRIBLE SERVICE! My mom and I were in the store for a good 20 minutes, looking like we needed help and NOBODY came to our assistance (there were 2 salespeople there that day and only 1 other customer, btw. So it's not like they were busy or anything). Then when 1 of them finally took the effort to approach us, guess what? It wasn't to offer us his services, but to tell my child to not play with the luggage. Well I'll tell you what, ASSHAT, if you had come to help us 20 minutes sooner, my kid wouldn't have been bored out of his brains, and my mom and I would have actually purchased $$$-worth of luggage from your store. Had a similar experience to many. I am a San Diegan living in Asia and on our last trip thru LAX our luggage had a major hole poked through it. Samsonite Company Store was quick to send it to the LA repair center who within 72 hours reported they could not repair the damage. Standard practice is in 2-3 weeks I would receive a new piece of luggage in the mail or a coupon for an in store replacement. The issue was that we were leaving to return to Asia 5 days later. A fantastic lady (Crysta or Crystal) took care of the issue, followed up with corporate and called me 1 day later to pick up the bag in Carlsbad. Sadly it is rare to see amazing service these days, extremely impressed by Samsonite!!!! read more

Great and so so. There is a wide choice. This was the only luggage place at entire outlet mall with a pass-through computer bag. (Computer stays in bad through airline security.) No other store even new what they were. Other times I shop here I can not find anything of great quality. So So stuff if you do not travel much. A lot of made in China stuff with Samsonite name on it. Staff has little product knowledge and can be lethargic. No table to view luggage. I plan to return here today to look for a bag. I have a couple back up locations planned as I do not expect to find a bag and I need one. Quality, not price, is my concern. - Very helpful in another case. Very good choice. read more

We just returned from a trip and a wheel was torn off ours suitcase. I went back to the store and they were wonderful. It took me five minutes to fill out a form and drop off the damaged case. They said it would take 5-8 business days to get it back . I had it back in 3 days, repaired good as new and it didn't cost me a dime. Fantastic service! read more

Drove from San Diego up to their location to bring a piece of Samonsite Luggage up for a repair. They were FABUOLOUS! Helpful and had me in an out in minutes..I had my receipt, but I don't think that they even asked for it. Didn't try to guilt me into buying anything .--------and for that .. I did make a purchase the NEXT time I was up that way. The luggage was repaired, returned to me in a HUGE BOX.. within a week I think. No charge.. No postage due.. SIMPLY FANTASTIC... Great service! I had some problems with my shoulder bag, and I couldn't find my receipt, because I have moved recently. This was no problem at all! I received a new bag without any complications! I had no idea what to expect but I needed to get the seams fixed for my roller duffle I had purchased a few years ago. The associate indicated to me they cannot make any assessment in the store but they will ship it out to a service center. I filled out basic shipping information, when I had purchased the duffle and where. I have to say they didn't hassle me about it. I was told it would take about 2-3 weeks before I would hear back from their service center. I was also informed that if they considered the damage not under warranty that I would receive a call and to make a decision whether to pay for repairs. Anyway stitching at the seams where it borders the zippers had come undone. Long story short I took it in on a Saturday and and received a large box at my door step the following Thursday! Oh man! No call at all. Just here you go, fixed! I am not sure if I should really be writing a review for this store or the service center, but I have to give credit the associate was upfront and made getting my duffle processed for assessment really easy. read more

This review is for repair service. I brought in my 10+ year old roll aboard suitcase to have some zippers fixed. The clerk told me since it was over 10 years, they might not be able to find parts to fix it and they might charge me for repair. 4 days later, it arrived at my door, zippers were perfect. I took my 21' spinner in for contract repair. August 13, 2014. The store there was fine but follow up from first "El Camino Luggage Repair" then Samsonite corporate was horrible. El Camino could not fix it (but did not let me know) so I was eligible for a replacement. piece. It took several phone calls with an apparent inept customer service at Samsonite to get a new suitcase under the warranty. I finally got the new suitcase 6 weeks later. It missed at least one trip with me. I do not fault the store in Carlsbad but dealing with Samsonite.... Good Luck! read more

I bought 2 luggage scales from this location . 1st broken apart in just 1 use and got a replacement for a better quality one with additional cost, but now it can't not weight any luggage that heavier than 10 lbs. because a scale is can't hold and read an actual weight . Bring back to return but now they refuse to refund my money because I already exchange once.??? not anymore. I try to explain what is the problem with this scale but they don't care......very bad service, don't care a customer and a cashier is very bed attitude when talk to me. read more

I brought in my leather Samsonite computer bag that I got at a department store a few years back and they not only shipped it to the repair center, but I got the bag back in 4 days totally fixed. The zipper had broken off and they replaced a totally new zipper. This is my second Samsonite bag and will only buy Samsonite going forward because of great quality and service. read more
