New backpack
Marc W.

Love the Tumi product line and shopping experience. Darryl was our consultant who showed me a number of backpacks; I was looking for a smaller day pac to compliment my Alpha Three Brief Pack. Ultimately I landed on the Davis Backpack in gray.

We received significant assistance just before Christmas week, but the options were quite limited.

What I absolutely love is that they truly have something for every budget. Whether you're trying to travel cute on a coin or splurge a little, they got you covered without making your wallet cry. The variety? Customer kiss Different styles, sizes, colors--you can find your whole travel vibe in one stop. And they're really good at pairing pieces together for a great price, like... why make it hard when they make it make sense? I needed something ASAP this time, and boom--found exactly what I was looking for without that overpriced, luxury-store pressure. Just good quality, fair pricing, and options on options. Now let's get into the customer service... TOP. TIER. From the moment I walked in, I felt welcomed and valued--not rushed, not ignored, just genuine help and good energy. So before you go running around San Diego checking all these other spots, do yourself a favor and start here first. Trust me... you'll find what you need AND keep your coins in check. And as always--you can thank me later

In a world where customer service is diluted and consumer experience seems to be deprioritized,…read moreEagle Creek and their partners at Index Urban provided the best experience I could've asked for. I needed new wheels on my rolling bag and was on a short work trip to San Diego. When I called 2 days before I was planning to come in, the Urban Index employee was kind, accommodating and shared all the necessary information to set me up for success. Little did I know, that was just the beginning. Upon arrival, I was greeted promptly and the issue was identified. It took their staff SEVEN MINUTES to fix the wheels. SEVEN!! And at a point where I was tight on timing (I had to make multiple stops and hit a work meeting) it made all of the difference.

I landed in San Diego for a business trip to Carlsbad only to discover that the wheels on my…read moreluggage had broken. This was the second luggage failure in less than two months, following another suitcase that was badly dented. Frustrated, I decided it was time to invest in a quality piece of luggage that would last, but I had no idea where to start. After asking AI for recommendations, I was pointed to Index Urban, and the recommendation was spot on. Art and Michele went above and beyond to help me. They took the time to explain the pros and cons of different brands, listened patiently as I weighed my options, and even helped me unpack and repack my belongings into different suitcases to make sure everything would fit. What impressed me most was their knowledge, honesty, and genuine desire to help me find the right luggage for my travel needs--not just make a sale. They walked me through different usage scenarios and practical considerations that I would never have thought about on my own. I highly recommend Index Urban to anyone shopping for luggage, whether you're a seasoned traveler or have no idea where to begin. The customer service was exceptional, and the expertise was invaluable.

When reviewing my posting, I noticed there are two different addresses at Horton Plaza. So if you read my review on the San Diego Luggage site, I was really referring to Peninsula Luggage at Horton Plaza San Diego. Sorry for the confusion!

Do not buy anything from these guys. They are scam artists and will rip you off…read more We bought some luggage from them several years ago. One Samsonite suitcase had suffered some damage through the years of travel, and was due for some warranty repair. We took it back to the store in Horton Plaza. The one we'd originally purchased it from, in UTC, has since closed. When we got there, we explained the damage to the person at the counter. He said warranty service costs $40 shipping. Thinking about it for a second, I realized that it should come back as good as new, and that $40 is much cheaper than a new suitcase. We agreed. A week later they called and let us know it was ready. When we saw the suitcase, we both realized that something wasn't quite right. When we took it in, one thing needing repair was that the rubber stripping along the outside was coming off. After repair, it had been hastily stapled in. The counter guy explained that this wasn't covered by warranty, so they stapled it - but that they weren't charging us. Additionally, several screws were stripped and really hadn't been fixed properly. On top of that, the $40 shipping started to feel somewhat suspicious! So today, we spoke with Samsonite. It turns out these guys are not a Samsonite Authorized Repair Center, though they don't ever mention that. Second, Samsonite said that the rubber stripping is covered by warranty. And finally, that we should not have been charged any shipping fee! Yah, we got fucked by these guys.. So, I called and spoke with the manager. I didn't get his name, but he claimed he was the manager, and had a NY/East Coast sort of accent. I was very polite at first, knowing that this is the best way to get help. I calmly explained the situation, and our dissatisfaction with the repair job and shipping charge. He kept saying "what do you want me to do?", to which I replied, "I'd like a refund". And his answer was, "we just charged you shipping", and I'd say, "but we weren't supposed to pay any shipping". Repeat that about a dozen times and you have most of our conversation. I asked how come we received no warranty paperwork from the place they sent it - he said there was none. Or why we got no receipt - he said we got a pickup ticket with the price on it. All super shady. I went on to explain that we were customers of his, and asked if he had any interest in helping to resolve our dissatisfaction. The bottom line is no, he didn't give a rats ass about us. I asked if his business was a member of the San Diego Chamber of Commerce, or the Better Business Bureau. He played ignorant. In complete frustration, I ended the call with "ok, well then, just fuck off you fucking asshole". Bottom Line: Do not do business with these guys. They're shady, at best, and criminals, at worst.

If, after inspection, we find that the product is defective, we will repair or replace it without charge." But they do not honour this warranty. I was taking a trip, and disaster struck: the seam to the zipper came apart. Well, I figured, for sure the warranty would cover something like this - but no, after demanding the original receipt in my name, which I had, they told me they will not honour the warranty. "Unfortunately, your bag does not qualify for a warranty replacement. Manufacturer's Defects are defects that happen in workmanship during the assembly process. Our warranty does NOT include the natural breakdowns that occurs from wear & tear or time." So what use is their "lifetime warranty"? I only used the backpack a few times, I never damaged or abused it, and certainly if it's a functioning backpack the seam should not come apart. If I had purchased a cheap backpack from Walmart, the seam would not have come apart like this. Do not trust this company.
