Taking time to submit a review for TUMI, the TUMI store UTC, and their customer service. TUMI Products: 5 stars. I have bought many TUMI products for myself and as gifts. Never had a bad review on a gift and I have never had a problem with any of the products. TUMI Store UTC: I have bought a few items at this specific store. I am always greeted with respect and receive the amount of service a particular situation requires. This includes whether I am just looking, or I need assistance making a choice. TUMI After Sales Customer Service: I recently used their service center, there was nothing wrong with my bag, I just wanted a couple wear items replaced as a preventative measure. These wear items - HANDLE and WHEELS were fully functional and still working, but I wanted to get more worry free mileage out of my bag. In a way, preventative maintenance on a bag that probably didn't need it just quite yet. For reference this bag is Aluminum, probably close to 5 years old, primary use is as a carryon. Long story short, my service center experience with Lavora (After Sales Service Team) and RAGHAD (EMP No. # xxxx339), was above and beyond. It seems like a stretch these days to find a company that can provide such a thing, but TUMI does both in the store and after your purchase. My hats off to the rest of the UTC team as well, as I have interacted with several other team members at that store - every experience is pleasant. You get what you pay for at TUMI. Durability, Quality, and Service.

Love the Tumi product line and shopping experience. Darryl was our consultant who showed me a number of backpacks; I was looking for a smaller day pac to compliment my Alpha Three Brief Pack. Ultimately I landed on the Davis Backpack in gray.

We received significant assistance just before Christmas week, but the options were quite limited.

I stopped by to inquire, and the worker went to the back. After a few minutes, they found the strap which was behind some other work. They never saw it! The repairman told me it would be about 10 minutes, and he fixed the other side too just to be on the safe side. I bought the briefcase from the same location when it was John's 5th Ave Luggage. From what I understand, the son has taken over and is doing a great job! I bought a Briggs and Riley suitcase from here about 15 years ago and it's still in great shape! I also bought a B&R backpack when I transitioned to an adult and gave up my Jantzen....LOL! They have some new styles that I might have to come back and take a closer look at. Do not buy anything from these guys. They are scam artists and will rip you off…read more We bought some luggage from them several years ago. One Samsonite suitcase had suffered some damage through the years of travel, and was due for some warranty repair. We took it back to the store in Horton Plaza. The one we'd originally purchased it from, in UTC, has since closed. When we got there, we explained the damage to the person at the counter. He said warranty service costs $40 shipping. Thinking about it for a second, I realized that it should come back as good as new, and that $40 is much cheaper than a new suitcase. We agreed. A week later they called and let us know it was ready. When we saw the suitcase, we both realized that something wasn't quite right. When we took it in, one thing needing repair was that the rubber stripping along the outside was coming off. After repair, it had been hastily stapled in. The counter guy explained that this wasn't covered by warranty, so they stapled it - but that they weren't charging us. Additionally, several screws were stripped and really hadn't been fixed properly. On top of that, the $40 shipping started to feel somewhat suspicious! So today, we spoke with Samsonite. It turns out these guys are not a Samsonite Authorized Repair Center, though they don't ever mention that. Second, Samsonite said that the rubber stripping is covered by warranty. And finally, that we should not have been charged any shipping fee! Yah, we got fucked by these guys.. So, I called and spoke with the manager. I didn't get his name, but he claimed he was the manager, and had a NY/East Coast sort of accent. I was very polite at first, knowing that this is the best way to get help. I calmly explained the situation, and our dissatisfaction with the repair job and shipping charge. He kept saying "what do you want me to do?", to which I replied, "I'd like a refund". And his answer was, "we just charged you shipping", and I'd say, "but we weren't supposed to pay any shipping". Repeat that about a dozen times and you have most of our conversation. I asked how come we received no warranty paperwork from the place they sent it - he said there was none. Or why we got no receipt - he said we got a pickup ticket with the price on it. All super shady. I went on to explain that we were customers of his, and asked if he had any interest in helping to resolve our dissatisfaction. The bottom line is no, he didn't give a rats ass about us. I asked if his business was a member of the San Diego Chamber of Commerce, or the Better Business Bureau. He played ignorant. In complete frustration, I ended the call with "ok, well then, just fuck off you fucking asshole". Bottom Line: Do not do business with these guys. They're shady, at best, and criminals, at worst.

I was taking a trip, and disaster struck: the seam to the zipper came apart. Well, I figured, for sure the warranty would cover something like this - but no, after demanding the original receipt in my name, which I had, they told me they will not honour the warranty. "Unfortunately, your bag does not qualify for a warranty replacement. Manufacturer's Defects are defects that happen in workmanship during the assembly process. Our warranty does NOT include the natural breakdowns that occurs from wear & tear or time." So what use is their "lifetime warranty"? I only used the backpack a few times, I never damaged or abused it, and certainly if it's a functioning backpack the seam should not come apart. If I had purchased a cheap backpack from Walmart, the seam would not have come apart like this. Do not trust this company.
