I had seen a new Reyn Spooner style online that I wanted to get in person. So I searched which local stores sold Reyn Spooner and I called the 4 stores. None of them had the new shirt. But, the kind employee at The Ascot Shop offered to check with the brand rep and would get back to me if they could order it. That same day he got back to me to confirm the size and he would be able to order it and it would be available in a week. The next week I got a text the shirt arrived. I went to pick it up and it's a very nice men's store. I told the employee how thankful I could get this because I wanted this style for my husband's birthday. He was knowledgeable, patient, and really took the time to understand the look I was going for. I have had the privilege to work with Bill White and his outstanding staff at The Ascot Shop in La Jolla for almost two decades (I can't believe it's been that long!). Bill is a haberdasher of the first order. When I meet with Bill, I know that I will be taken care of. As an attorney, I wear suits four days a week and a blazer and khakis or grey slacks on Fridays. Bill helped me build my wardrobe (Hickey Freeman Made-to-Measure) so that I don't have to think about what I'm going to wear day to day. Went into The Ascot Shop today because I needed to figure out my sizing for my friends wedding. I walked in and Alan came right up to me to ask what he could help me with today. I informed him that I just needed help with my sizing and that I wouldn't be buying a suit today. He had me try on each piece of clothing to make sure that he was figuring out the precise sizing. They helped me create my dream wedding suit custom made on a very short time frame and made the entire process easy and stress free. The first session of the custom suit they take measurements, go over materials and all the options, and even give you free drinks! I shopped with Justin at the store and tried on some different suits and shirts. They have a lot of really great products. Justin was very knowledgable about the different style and color options. The brands are really high end which is nice, but it's definitely not cheap. You really get what you pay for though. If you can afford it, I'd totally recommend it. This is a follow-up to the review I previously posted. My first experience with The Ascot Shop was phenomenal, and it has only gotten better. I met with Andy to begin the process of customizing a suit from scratch. The level of service he provided was exceptional from start to finish. The design process was a blast. The level of customization is absolutely incredible. Andy walked me through various books containing examples of fabrics, buttons, threading, linings, etc. Literally every detail of the suit can be customized. Andy and other Associates provided options and suggestions. They are true experts and their experience really shows in the final product. The design process took about an hour, then came the measurements. This is the part that truly impressed me. Andy took about 15 minutes to take all my measurements. I tried on their "base model" suit to get an idea of the fit. He made detailed notes of how my suit needed to be altered to ensure a perfect fit. Once again the attention to detail was brilliant. From the way the pockets on the pants lay to the room in the chest of the jacket, Andy knew exactly what needed to be done for an impeccable fit. He even asked if I wear large watches and accounted for that when measuring me for a custom-tailored shirt I opted to get. I mentioned that the measurement process was what truly impressed me; that's because when the suit arrived it fit perfectly. There was not one stitch that had to be adjusted. The jacket, vest, pants, and French cuff Robert Talbott shirt all fit as if they used some space aged tech to take measurements. Absolutely incredible. The Ascot Shop is truly a one stop shop for men looking for a great product and a great experience. Everyone at the shop treats you like family and it's easy to see the passion they have for what they do. I have been shopping at Nordstrom all this time but this place is very classy with very selective clothing. They have very good taste and one of the 3rd generation store in operation for over 72 years. Thanks to the owner and Satchel for top notch customer service and making us feel at home. On Saturday the 15th of June my wife and I went to La Jolla for a wedding. A dear friend of mine and his fiancé had flown in from Mongolia for a wedding where he grew up. We arrived in town with a few hours to putter around, so we walked about and looked at the beautiful town. About 35 minutes before the wedding we went back to the hotel to get ready and I discovered that my pants weren't with my suit jacket. I recalled having seen The Ascot Shop while walking around and I knew if anyone could help me on short notice, that would be the place. They didn't disappoint. I walked in with the jacket 25 minutes before the wedding started. Andy, although very busy, recognized the direness of my situation and quickly found a pair of slacks that matched the jacket. Naturally the tailor had left for the day, but Andy's Aunt, Suzy if memory serves, sprang into action. She found a needle and thread while Andy marked the pants for hemming. After turning the pants over to Suzy I hustled back to the hotel, grabbed my shirt, shoes, socks, and tie, told my wife I would meet her at the ceremony, and rushed back over to The Ascot Shop. I pulled on my clothes and Suzy had the pants ready for me to jump into. I made it to the ceremony, missing only the entrance of the bridal party and the first reading. This shop is a true one of a kind place. I visited with my dad and he is a a lover of men's clothing. They make you feel at home. You get a cozy feel the second you wake in and they are not pushy sales people. They offer water or coffee while you browse their rooms.
