Tumi is a well manufactured and constructed product. They really stand behind the quality of their workmanship . The suitcases are pricey , but built to withstand worldwide travel . I've had 2 of their roller board bags & whenever there was a problem, their customer service was superb& prompt in dealing with the issues. I walked into to the Ala Moana store because of a Tumi wallet I had for years the zipper pull fell off. I brought the wallet just to see if the pull could be replaced. Kamana was so nice and immediately told me he could fix it for me. I was surprised that there wasn't even a charge for the older wallet. Years ago I had a LV wallet the the zipper pull came off. The LV brand stands by its product quality and standards and will fix most products without charge. The Tumi brand quality are definitely HIGH standard products too! Tumi is known as one of the World's leading manufacturers of suitcases and bags for travel. Since the 80's, when Tumi introduced black ballistic nylon travel cases we have been avid fans. We have Tumi extended-trip packing cases, short-trip packing cases and other accessories that we've had for decades and they've still holding up well in spite of the rough handling from airlines, cruise ships and hotels. During our travels, we'd often see a "sea of black luggage", some of which were American-made Tumi brand or from other manufacturers. We have attached some colorful identification onto our luggage just to make it unique enough for us to properly identify from the rest that spin around those baggage carousels. But, fast forward, to 2017... the classic black ballistic nylon travel cases are still around with updated features. Also, there are more styles, colors and materials that have been introduced. Granted, these suitcases and travel bags aren't cheap but, if you travel a lot or have plans to, I think it's a good idea to get yourself a well-constructed, secure and light-weight suitcase. The initial cost may cause you pause a bit, but, if you think about how many times you may have to replace an inexpensive suitcase that is flimsy...the purchase may be well worth it. Service at this Tumi store is very friendly and informative. Today, we met with sales associate, Yuling, who showed us several new suitcases with features which would fit or enhance our travel needs. She showed us some of their sale polycarbonate luggage because we were interested in this newer lightweight, secure and sturdy line as well as their regular stock items. The collections were exciting to look at and explore the features. We have been very satisfied with our Tumi luggage and haven't ever had to repair any of the pieces that we own. They've held up well but we knew that with newer technology, Tumi would offer the same great quality and styles in more lightweight frames or materials that won't make us worry about possibly exceeding the airline baggage weight restrictions on upcoming travels. read more

The staff at Tumi Ala Moana are the BEST! This weekend I decided to purchase the Alpha 3 Brief Backpack in the color Olive Night. The backpack is beautiful and another outstanding Tumi product. For over a month I have been thinking back and forth about whether I should get the Tumi Alpha Bravo or the Alpha 3 Tumi Brief. To get more details about the different backpacks, I called the Tumi Ala Moana store and spoke to Nancy. As I started to discuss my quandary with Nancy, she immediately was able to answer all of my questions and speak about both bags. Even though it was a short conversation, Nancy was able to help me determine that the Alpha 3 Brief Backpack was the best choice for me. Unfortunately, due to a busy schedule, it was three weeks later that I was not able to go to the Ala Moana store to look at the Brief Backpack. When I entered the store, I was immediately greeted by another store representative, Kamana. Every time that I have shopped at Ala Moana Tumi, Kamana has always been professional, positive, friendly, helpful, and friendly. After being greeted by Kamana, I met with Nancy to discuss the Alpha 3 Brief Backpack. As I started to discuss the bag to my amazement, (even though we only spoke a few minutes on the phone over three weeks ago) Nancy remembered my full name and the two different backpacks I was thinking about. At the store I was able to see and operate all the different backpacks and see the different colors. Nancy is knowledgeable, fun, positive, professional, and (simply put) Awesome. Anyone that interacts with either Kamana or Nancy knows they only thing they want what is best for their clients. Nancy was helping me with everything and discussing the different options for all the bags. During the entire shopping process, talking to Nancy felt like I was getting help from a long-time friend instead of a Sales Repetitive. A while back, I saw a Men's Tumi Wallet on line and in Waikiki and for months I was debating on whether I should get one. (I didn't need a wallet, but I love wallets with a coin pocket). I was finally ready to and decided to go on line. Unfortunately, there would have been a shipping charge added on to Hawaii. I called the Ala Moana Tumi and Tanya, the manager said if I came into the store and it was not in stock, they would special order it for me with no additional shipping added. I went in the next day, Nancy, a sales associate ordered it and within less than 10 days, Tanya calls to say my wallet came in. Tanya and the whole staff are so friendly. STOP! DON'T BUY! TERRIBLE WARRANTY POLICY! This is my second TUMI wallet my first lasted over 10 years, not so much for the 2nd one, its like they are made cheaper now. New Wallet: I have a money clip wallet I received for Christmas 2018, (1 year- 2 months old) and it is already falling apart. The front has leather chipping off of it and the metal money clip is sticking through the leather. I contacted the warranty department and they gave me 3 options: 1.) Submit Online and send it in 2.) Submit in a official store (No store near me) 3.) Submit at an official repair dealer (Only 2 in the U.S.) So I start the online submission and in the agreement it says: If we deem that it isn't covered under their warranty advisors discretion than I have to pay to repair it and for all the shipping. I have to send in my only wallet to have them appraise if they will fix it or not! Thais is not worth the hassle ! It will be the last TUMI wallet I get or ask for as a gift! read more

Poor customer service. We were greeted by two sales ladies at the door. The store was empty but my husband and I thought it was because it was late in the day (although no where near closing). One of the sales representatives had a condescending tone when she asked my husband and I if we wanted a luggage piece to add to our "extensive collection." We preceded to ignore her ignorance and just look at the items. She also decided to school us on the latest items which my husband was initially looking at, a men's camouflage backpack. I get it maybe we seemed like we didn't belong as we were wearing flip flops but the discrimination is unreal and simply disgusting. I urge visitors and tourists to avoid this store at all costs as the customer service is simply lacking and horrific. I wish I could rate them a zero. read more

I'm in the market for a laptop briefcase. I've always liked Tumi products. When I got to the store I was greeted with a dismissive, "Are you looking for something in particular?" No warmth, no smile. I asked if the wall of briefcases was where the briefs were all located, since I was forced into conversation with an unfriendly person. The salesman told me, "Yes, they're all over here." As I walked towards the display he walked in front of me and automatically picked the smallest bag, telling that it was the most popular. He wouldn't let me handle the bag on my own. Then when I proceeded to tell him that I was interested in the larger bag, he got that one off of the display. I was still not "allowed" to handle the bag. I asked what size laptop would fit in the bag and he told me a 13" would fit. A quick Google search showed me that it would fit up to a 15" screen macbook. The bag seemed well made (like all Tumi products). However, I can't tell you 100%, since I was not allowed to handle the bag. My computer won't fit in the laptop pocket anyway. I will say this, with his combination of horrible customer service and lack of knowledge about his own products, that salesman has convinced me to buy my Tumi products online versus face to face. I did have my 7 year old with me, but parents have jobs too. And if a travel bag can't withstand handling by a child, it's not worth buying anyway. If you decide to go into this store, I hope your experience is better than mine. read more

Purchasing experience was 5 star as was the customer service at the Ala Moana Store. My poor rating was for the suit case that cost $1,195 - aluminum and black. Looks great in the store, the locks and wheels are perfect. But...after just a few inter-island and one mainland trip the case looks like it went around the world. The black finish scrapes right off - scratches look horrible. Two months after purchase, I stopped in to voice my concerns. The sales person said that included in the bag are stickers and that I should use them to cover the blemishes! LOL Did I mention that the case costs $1,195? She said, "the sale starts in the 24th and have spoken to you already!" What rude customer service to a future customer who wanted to buy some bags at this store!
