Craft breweries in New England have been popping up like crazy over the past decade. On a recent visit up to Maine of of our friends wanted to do lunch & visit a fairly new local watering hole. After lunch we drove into what looks like a strip mall. Out front there were a few picnic tables with a small rope to create a makeshift beer garden. A few patrons were enjoying handsized glasses in the nice summer air. We walked in to a small taproom where Amanda, our server, was there to greet us with a open smile. She was very friendly & knowledgable about the products on tap. My biggest surprise came when she told us that the flight cost $4 total!!! This is no typo. I guess they are only allowed to sell "samples" but you can have as many as possible. So four samples equals a full pint. At the time of our visit they had four varieties of beer on tap, the 207 Pale Ale, Clearwater Cream Ale, Artula Pale Ale & the Devil's Hop Yard IPA. The clear favorite of the group was the cream ale. Very tasty, fresh & as advertised. I really enjoyed the jar of pretzels available to clean my palate. In addition the glass growlers, 32oz & 64oz, only cost $3 with the purchase of a fill. Even though the taproom is small it is well appointed with a few chairs, a high top table & comfy futon for realxing. Plus they had an assortment of swag for sale. As this is a small business there was even a pack & play in the corner when the owner brings his baby in. Just behind that is where the beer is made. This place the perfect vehicle for good beer made by passionate people. Before we left I grabbed a couple of 22oz bottles to take home & Amanda was so glad that she was the one who bottles them. They really make you feel at home here & I will be happy to come back next time we are in town.

Very happy to have a Brewery in Farmington. Good variety that seems to be getting better and better.

We had Autumn for our bartender today, she was lovely and made a flawless bloody Mary! They have a…read moregreat bloody mix there, not sure if it's house made or from a bottle, but I like it. I love a place that will allow you to order all flats, I will happily pay extra for all flats. I won't even entertain eating the upper part of the wing, too many things happening up there. I always order my wings as chicken, flavored sawdust. I've had salmonella more than once from chicken wings, but I love them too much to stop eating them. These were cooked perfectly! The burger on special was a two patty smash burger with grilled pineapple pickle onions, and a sweet Thai chili aïoli. I added fresh jalapeño and got the aïoli on the side because I wanted to see what it was like. I was really happy. I got it on the side because there was flavorless. It was basically mayonnaise that they mixed sweet Thai sauce with and called aïoli. Also, if it's a sauce that I don't know, I don't trust it, I don't want it on anything before I try it. I think that should be like rule of thumb. But the burger was awesome, I got it with dirty sweet potato fries. Which means I put some Cajun seasoning on it so it had that sweet, salty, spicy element that I love so much. They also have this delicious French pear martini on the specials menu. It was fantastic, it was fresh, bright, not overbearing. I hope that stays on the menu for a minute because it was LOVELY. And I took home a cute little dessert sampler that probably could've done without all the whipped cream over the little dessert squares, but my boys loved them!! Great place for lunch, really cool location, relaxed feel, don't forget to check out the little waterfall!!

I recently visited Baxter Brewing and was very disappointed by the service. The bartender was rude,…read morethrowing the menu down without a greeting or any sense of welcome. It took about ten minutes to receive two beers and an appetizer, and there were no plates or silverware until we asked. The bartender never checked in or followed up, even when another guest nearby gave up after being ignored. The food was poor (overcooked), but the lack of basic hospitality made the entire experience feel uninviting. The food typically is average. Bartender spends her time on other employees who are eating. There have been multiple similar experiences with this bartender. The simplest way to ruin a bar is when this happens...patterns of slow service, poor communication, or unprofessional behavior that keep repeating. Same staff, languishing customer volume.

Brew the Coop Newish…read more(ca. 2019) Brewpub located in the heart of Downtown Rangeley that's located in a historic (ca. 1912) tavern. Not only do they sport their own brews, but they have a killer brick pizza oven to boot. The Good: *Huge outdoor space but oddly they don't have any coverings, like umbrellas, to keep you out of the sun. *Great views of the lake and people watching. *Service was friendly and pleasant (see below) *Nice selection of their own brews and other micro and macro brews on-tap, as well as fermented grapes, as well as a full bar. *Tater Kegs were delicious and a very unique item; if cheese and ham stuffed tater tots doesn't get you torqued up, then it's time to turn in your foodie card. *Bison burger was excellent and cooked perfectly medium. The concomitant brioche bun and bacon jam really sealed the deal, as well. The fries were pretty bomb, too. The Meh: *"No Pet Policy" is kinda wild, but kinda ubiquitous here in Rangeley. Which, to tell the truth, is sorta strange because it's usually rich people who like to schlep their dogs around and what do rich people like to do? Ski, boat, and fish--three things synonymous with Rangeley. Interesting, eh? *Interior isn't as big as it looks from the outside, but is still fairly ample. *They seemed overwhelmed on our visit and very short-staffed, as the food took a looooong time to come out. Fortunately, we were in vacation mode--and I had a beer in-hand--so it was all good on our end, but if you're looking for a quick meal, this might not be it. The Ugly: *The fact that they actually have to have a "Bee Policy" (see pic) is crazy. If I have to explain it to you, then you're part of the problem. *Their "website" (aka The Facebooks) is kinda funny place to be posting people with their dead deer carcasses. 0_o Conclusion: A couple of iffy deals here, but the food was fantastic--and that's what matters.

We shared appetizers (tots, truffle fries, pickle chips) and then some pizzas. Pizzas were creative and larger than expected! We had plenty of leftovers for midnight snacks. My favorite was the blueberry pork pizza. It was an unexpected pizza combo, but it works!!! Drink selection is vast! I had a canned blueberry sour and I was super pleased. I will say we asked for water when we ordered drinks, and again when we order meals and we never got them. I understand we were a bigger group, but it would have been a perfect experience if we could have gotten water with our meal. I liked this place! I'll come back the next time I'm in Rangeley and try more pizzas.
