The location is ideal (walkable to everything!), the grounds and gardens were intoxicating, and the Amish furniture store next door was incredible! We did NOT want to leave! We adored our private balcony off our room and every accommodation had been thought of. The only thing I'd advise is a microwave for guests in the Black Barn lounge room so we had the ability to reheat food. Perhaps there is already one in the kitchen area, but we didn't want to be rude and enter the closed door as it may have been just for staff. Oh! And the staff? INCREDIBLE!!!! Bruce and his team were inviting, helpful, and we felt as if we'd known them all for eons! We will be returning this winter to enjoy not only the main lounge fireplace but the room fireplace! They even have a huge variety of DVDs had you choose to stay in for the night. There's a mini fridge and microwave in the room with the twin beds in case you wanted to eat in as well! Very accommodating and made our stay that much easier. In the morning, Bill and Janis made us the CUTEST & delicious breakfast. The breakfast room is off the porch and very pleasant with plenty of light. The food itself was delicious with a quiche one day and French toast and eggs the next. Every day there was yogurt and homemade granola. The inn is in a historic building and is on the east edge of town, easy walking distance to shops and restaurants. Angie and Anna were kind and accommodating, always asking if we needed anything. If you are going to Cambria itself or up to Hearst Castle or wherever in the area, I highly recommend the Olallieberry Inn.

Before our arrival we were given a code to enter the living space and our room, so it was very convenient to have such an easy check-in with no hassle. Plus was a warm welcome from Nana, the Inn's pet cat. She was really cute and friendly. The room itself was cozy and patios enough for the two of us. The room was spotless clean and loved how spacious the bathroom was, and how comfortable the bed was as well. As far as the complimentary breakfast we received. It was okay. It was a quiche, yogurt with fruit, a muffin, sausages, and orange juice, on both days. It was left by our door around 9 am the two days we were there. Now, for the negatives. Parking spaces are limited and each room doesn't have a guaranteed parking spot. They have misleading information on their website. If you come back after 8 pm, forget about finding parking there. You will need to park in Cambria Inn, their sister property, and walk up a very dark and dangerous road back up to the Inn, which is unsafe! When I let their Inn know about this parking situation, the night before, I couldn't reach anyone after 8 pm, so I was told to call Cambria Inn. The person who picked up was extremely rude, and told me to park anywhere there was parking, after I explained there were no spots available. Finally we ended up parking at the Cambria Inn. The next day, I let the J. Patrick house know about this parking situation and someone over text got super defensive and was trying to send me screenshots of there being parking, when clearly there was none when we arrived, and kept arguing with me about it, which left a really bad taste in my mouth, and in stress I ended up leaving my super expensive jacket, which I still haven't heard about from the Inn. It's unfortunate that this situation happened because I was really hoping that we would have a better ending to a special weekend! I will not be coming back here again!

There is a code used to get into the building (and a friendly cat that will try to convince you they also are suppose to be in the building!) The sign says please don't let the cat in-- so it stayed out then greeted us again the next morning. The room clean, comfortable and the bedroom door had a security code too! I liked the contactless check in process and the ability to just keep my own schedule. They delivered breakfast the next morning between 8:30-9am in a picnic basket. It was quiet though I could hear the neighbor coughing - and there was a wall heater that worked great though I wasn't initially sure if it was the heater or a fan. The room was warm but got chillier over night- so I used it in the morning. I didn't use the fireplace. The shower and water pressure were lovely. And checkout was a breeze. I will say the cell reception in the area can be challenging so make sure you know your room code. Nice place, liked that it was smaller and quieter. Didn't take pictures but I stayed in the Kerry room which was exactly like the online photos.

The place changed ownership a few years ago and the new owner is great -- very responsive to text messages and made sure we were taken care of. Rooms are large, clean, and safe. It was a great place to stay with my wife and our dog. There's even a dog towel to wipe sandy paws which Baxter appreciated. Boardwalk access is directly across the street. There are only four rooms and the place is at the north end of Windrush Beach so it's quiet but not isolated. There are not a lot of amenities along the beach, so you definitely need a car to get around. We hope to stay here again when we need pet friendly accommodations.

A call to the night manager Friday night did nothing to stop it. But at the same time, it's not as if they were partying or shouting. They were simply walking around, and I was unlucky enough to be in the room below them in a place that clearly wasn't built to be a hotel. I've stayed in countless hotels with people above me, and this is the first time in my life that I've paid them any mind or had the urge to report a noise complaint. Which again...they were just walking, which they technically have a right to do, despite how annoying it was to me at the time. The room was a bit overpriced to begin with, so this only made me regret that much more. Two stars instead of one since the property was still nice with a prime location. But if you have your heart set on this place, book a room on the second floor. Other reviews show that I'm not the first person to have this issue.
