Every day there was yogurt and homemade granola. The inn is in a historic building and is on the east edge of town, easy walking distance to shops and restaurants. Angie and Anna were kind and accommodating, always asking if we needed anything. If you are going to Cambria itself or up to Hearst Castle or wherever in the area, I highly recommend the Olallieberry Inn.

Another highlight is the morning basket delivered to the room each morning. It included pastries, coffee, OJ & even champagne. They offer hot fresh baked cookies in the evening, s'mores by the fire-pit, cocktails, wine and small bites. The gem of a hotel is located right across the street from the beach and has an entrance to the walking boardwalk. I highly recommend this hotel & cant wait to go back. This place is a hidden gem…read more Windrush Inn operates sort of as a hotel and sort of as an AirBnB. There's no front desk or lobby and room access is via a code. The place changed ownership a few years ago and the new owner is great -- very responsive to text messages and made sure we were taken care of. Rooms are large, clean, and safe. It was a great place to stay with my wife and our dog. There's even a dog towel to wipe sandy paws which Baxter appreciated. Boardwalk access is directly across the street. There are only four rooms and the place is at the north end of Windrush Beach so it's quiet but not isolated. There are not a lot of amenities along the beach, so you definitely need a car to get around. We hope to stay here again when we need pet friendly accommodations.

Before our arrival we were given a code to enter the living space and our room, so it was very convenient to have such an easy check-in with no hassle. Plus was a warm welcome from Nana, the Inn's pet cat. She was really cute and friendly. The room itself was cozy and patios enough for the two of us. The room was spotless clean and loved how spacious the bathroom was, and how comfortable the bed was as well. As far as the complimentary breakfast we received. It was okay. It was a quiche, yogurt with fruit, a muffin, sausages, and orange juice, on both days. It was left by our door around 9 am the two days we were there. Now, for the negatives. Parking spaces are limited and each room doesn't have a guaranteed parking spot. They have misleading information on their website. If you come back after 8 pm, forget about finding parking there. You will need to park in Cambria Inn, their sister property, and walk up a very dark and dangerous road back up to the Inn, which is unsafe! When I let their Inn know about this parking situation, the night before, I couldn't reach anyone after 8 pm, so I was told to call Cambria Inn. The person who picked up was extremely rude, and told me to park anywhere there was parking, after I explained there were no spots available. Finally we ended up parking at the Cambria Inn. The next day, I let the J. Patrick house know about this parking situation and someone over text got super defensive and was trying to send me screenshots of there being parking, when clearly there was none when we arrived, and kept arguing with me about it, which left a really bad taste in my mouth, and in stress I ended up leaving my super expensive jacket, which I still haven't heard about from the Inn. It's unfortunate that this situation happened because I was really hoping that we would have a better ending to a special weekend! I will not be coming back here again!

The lady on the phone was super helpful and explained the contactless check in process. I arrived in the evening, parking is behind the main house. There is a code used to get into the building (and a friendly cat that will try to convince you they also are suppose to be in the building!) The sign says please don't let the cat in-- so it stayed out then greeted us again the next morning. The room clean, comfortable and the bedroom door had a security code too! I liked the contactless check in process and the ability to just keep my own schedule. They delivered breakfast the next morning between 8:30-9am in a picnic basket. It was quiet though I could hear the neighbor coughing - and there was a wall heater that worked great though I wasn't initially sure if it was the heater or a fan. The room was warm but got chillier over night- so I used it in the morning. I didn't use the fireplace. The shower and water pressure were lovely. And checkout was a breeze. I will say the cell reception in the area can be challenging so make sure you know your room code. Nice place, liked that it was smaller and quieter. Didn't take pictures but I stayed in the Kerry room which was exactly like the online photos.

We left the windows cracked open at night in order to hear the sounds of ocean waves crashing onto the rocks. The breakfasts were amazing, the hosts (located nearby at The Blue Dolphin Inn) were very friendly and accommodating, and the entire experience left us wanting more! Were there any dimmers to adjust the lighting down from solar flare to reasonable. Nope. Just the palm of my hand or sunglasses. Again By the way, the Cambria area is awesome with some great wholesome dining experiences. Linn's and Robin's. Wow! We've stayed along Moonstone over the years. Just never @ the Cambria Shores Inn. Guess what? Never again because there are lots of choices along Moonstone. I'd like to rate it a 1 star. But, Mother Nature helped take the feeling of total disappointment away. For $350+ a night, I expected a little more. The room looked…read moredecent enough at first, but the strong musty smell and stained carpet quickly changed that impression. We were also tucked way in the back in a dark corner of the property, which wasn't exactly inviting. Then the little things started adding up. The shower curtain rod was pulling out of the wall, the wallpaper around the shower was loose from moisture, and the ice bucket still had trash from the previous guest in it. At that point, it starts to feel less like an older coastal hotel and more like nobody is really checking the rooms. The pool was half empty with green water sitting at the bottom. Maybe it was under repair, but it definitely wasn't usable. Housekeeping is another strange setup. If you want your room cleaned, you have to request it the day before, and then repeat that request every day. You can't just ask for service for your whole stay. At check-in we were told they used to offer complimentary breakfast, but the new company stopped. The alternative was to walk down the street to another hotel and pay about $20. The next morning my wife went for hot water for tea and they were out. The suggestion was to use the coffee maker in the room. That works, I suppose, if you like your tea with a little coffee flavor. The guy at the front desk wasn't rude, but his attitude was very much, "it is what it is." And to be fair, I've stayed in worse places. The difference is, those places usually charged a lot less. For $350+ a night, FogCatcher is asking you to overlook quite a bit.

Unless you plan on pulling all-nighters, I don't recommend this place. I got very little sleep both…read morenights due to hearing the people walking above me past midnight. A call to the night manager Friday night did nothing to stop it. But at the same time, it's not as if they were partying or shouting. They were simply walking around, and I was unlucky enough to be in the room below them in a place that clearly wasn't built to be a hotel. I've stayed in countless hotels with people above me, and this is the first time in my life that I've paid them any mind or had the urge to report a noise complaint. Which again...they were just walking, which they technically have a right to do, despite how annoying it was to me at the time. The room was a bit overpriced to begin with, so this only made me regret that much more. Two stars instead of one since the property was still nice with a prime location. But if you have your heart set on this place, book a room on the second floor. Other reviews show that I'm not the first person to have this issue.

Very accommodating and made our stay that much easier. In the morning, Bill and Janis made us the CUTEST & delicious breakfast. We learned so much about them, Cambria, and some fun trivia about Hearst Castle. Bill even helped us obtain discounted tickets! This was everyone's first experience at a Bed & Breakfast and it was great. I would recommend staying at the Dreydon House to anyone!!
