    Sunset from Room 101

We have stayed at other places on Moonstone Beach in past years. We decided to try a different property and the reviews looked inviting. We had room 101 which is on the first floor ocean front. Parking was convenient, right next to our room. The room has a perfect view of the ocean. The patio has 2 chairs and a table. The room had plenty of chairs, a comfortable bed, mini refrigerator, walk in shower and a large bathroom vanity. The fireplace took the chill off at night. Complementary continental self-serve breakfast is served in the reception area and an outdoor patio is also available. There is a hot tub but we did not use it. The only down side is that we could hear the people in the second floor room above us walking. This was a little annoying.

Fantastic clean hotel on moonstone beach. We stayed in a king partial view room upstairs, #216. The room got fairly hot in January. Rooms on the Sea Chest Oyster Bar restaurant side (which this one was) seem to get more sun, so they are warmer. It cooled down at night, but not enough to use the gas fireplace. We didn't notice any restaurant noise, and we were able to hear the ocean all night, which was lovely. In the morning they serve pastries and muffins and coffee which were all delicious. The bed was very comfortable, and we got a good nights sleep. It's just so wonderful to be directly on moonstone beach where you can walk on the path and see the stunning ocean. There are also stairs taking you down to the beach. The Sea Chest Oyster bar is super popular with people lining up to get in long before it opens. We were able to get in about an hour after we put our name down and the food was delicious. Cash only. There are other restaurants within walking distance and one night we ate in town at the Sow's Ear, which was also delicious. Would happily return to Moonstone Landing!

ADA Room 218: extra high toilet great for height, bad knees, etc.

We stopped in Cambria for a night to break up a long drive home. I tried seeing reviews of hotels on my phone's small screen the night before and morning of booking my room. We needed an ADA room, with 2 beds, and no stairs, as my mother can't bend her knees well, and can't do stairs. She is not in a wheelchair, but does need bars in the bathroom, and a walk-in shower (not a tub that you have to climb over), and preferably a higher toilet, not the extremely low ones that many hotels have, which is difficult for anyone that has height to them, has bad knees, etc. We were extremely happy with our room! We got an ADA room with 2 Queen beds and a partial ocean view. My suggestion: if you love ocean views, but are getting a partial view, you might just go with a regular view and walk down to see the ocean. It is a small amount of ocean that you will see, and if foggy, as it was in October, it's not worth paying extra for the small amount of view. Ocean front may be a different story; especially if staying several days, and maybe partial views closer to the front of the building. In our case, we were mainly interested in the ADA (handicap enabled) room, but would have taken the best view we could get, but paying extra for our partial view was not worth extra cost. Our room was very spacious, comfortable, and had a lot of charm. The bathroom had a beautiful tub with a seat, and a raised portion that someone with some mobility might be able to sit on and swing their legs over (not the case with my mother). The toilet had bars and was a good 4 - 5 inches higher than a standard toilet - exactly what is needed for anyone with height, bad knees, arthritis, etc. Not sure if that is more difficult with a wheelchair. While my mother was not able to use the shower in the tub, due to bad knees, the toilet (higher height) was the best of the 4 hotels we stayed at this month, including an exclusive resort. An important feature for many. Our room was near the office on the 2nd floor, (#218), however, the hotel is on a hill, so you can access the 2nd floor & office from the raised parking lot in the back, without doing any stairs. Our room had a fireplace, a table with 4 chairs near a window with our partial ocean view, a coffee maker, 2 large glass bottles filled with water, and a nice-sized fridge. They had 2 luggage racks, which also seems to be a rarity in hotel rooms these days. The room had comfortable arm chair with a reading light, which is very nice, as some of the luxury hotel rooms we had stayed in recently had no ability to read in the room, due to the lighting. There is a nice breakfast in the office in the morning. They have yogurt, cereal, Danish (from Linn's Restaurant in town), bananas, other fruit, hard boiled eggs, tea & coffee, etc. There were a couple of men exclaiming about the wonderful taste of the coffee (from SLO). It is in the office, and there are some tables outdoors, as well, on the patio, where there is also a hot tub surrounded by plexi-glass, to keep the wind away. There is a cute fountain of a wine bottle pouring wine into a glass. They had some Halloween decorations up when we were there, along with a bowl of candy on the counter. For a relatively small hotel, they had quite a few little extras that were nice. Our room was near the office and breakfast, and we heard a lot of noise in the morning, likely of the people going in for some breakfast. Otherwise, it was quiet during the night. Overall, we were more than happy with our room. It felt clean, very comfortable, and very spacious, with many nice touches. I would definitely come back to this hotel to stay.

Sea otters in our scope from our ocean front patio within the first few minutes of arrival

Wonderful location, especially the ocean front rooms. Right on Moonstone Drive across from Moonstone Beach and adjacent to the Sea Chest Oyster Bar. Highly recommend the ocean front rooms, otherwise you may just get a peekaboo view, maybe. Comfortable accommodations with a fireplace, two comfy lounge chairs, dining table and chairs, fridge, microwave and a nice sizable bathroom with jetted tub and separate shower. Downsides included a full on ant attack of our snacks bag (bummer!), a super janky hard-to-use "disappearing" screen door to the patio, a property jacuzzi that was definitely an afterthought with no view and awkwardly positioned outside of the property office in the back, and a less than mediocre continental breakfast offering.

The hotel was super convenient being right across the street from the beach. The room was clean and it was really nice to have a fireplace as the heating source for the room. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is that the mini fridge in the room kept turning on and making a noise all through the night and woke me up each time it went off.

This is a view of the ocean on a semi-cloudy day, with blue skies and clear water.

It is one of the most beautiful places in all of California. If you're looking for a quiet beach to walk and reflect, this is the place for you. I've been here every season and enjoyed everything Moonstone Beach and Moonstone Landing offer. In my opinion, this is a must-visit location for everyone.

Morning walk 1/5/25. Beautiful scenery less than 5 minutes from my room!

    Pet friendly, Are dogs allowed?

No ac lots of fans but it gets really hot in March?

Are there bike rental places nearby?

Do the rooms have air conditioning?

I don't believe so but I've been there all types of weather and you will never need it. There is a beautiful breeze that always blows on Moonstone Beach and it cools down the rooms if it happens to be warm that day. Plus, you can hear the waves. A++

Did anyone find the oceanfront rooms to be noisy with the street being so close?

Not at all. The ocean is, it can be, louder- in a good way! The street is not a busy one.

Really enjoyed the complimentary wine with ocean view and one of my biggest reasons for booking it was due to they accept dogs, which says a lot about an establishment. That being said, there are areas for improvement. When I checked into my room, I noticed that the the dark blinds were stuck so I went to the office to see if they could help. The manager came to my room; tried to lower them and agreed they were stuck. She said she would ask the maintenance person to fix it. A day went by and nobody came by. I was awoken to a bright room early in the morning so my sleep was cut short. I went back the office and the same manager welcomed me with "yeah, what's up"? I highlighted that nobody came by to fix it and she seemed pretty indifferent but said she would request it again. Needless to say, nobody showed up to fix it during my whole stay so I was greeted with shortened sleep thanks to the bright room in the mornings. While I was checking out, I highlighted this to the new manager and she laughed it off, saying that's why she brings blindfolds when she travels. No discount offer or anything. Furthermore, their door key cards are the most sensitive I have ever encountered. I had to have them reprogrammed 3 times during my stay. Also, the owner apparently requested that they close the wine tasting early due to rain so, when I showed up to use my complimentary wine vouchers, I found it closed over an hour earlier than their posted closing time but the server did provide me with the complimentary wine since I was a guest but they were no longer offering food so no marinated olives and nuts to go with it. That being said, the Inn does have a great location; is a value and I love that it is dog-friendly but they do need to work on their customer service. Oh and some more Vegan options and recycling/compost bins would certainly help.

They couldn't make it work. I wasn't here to watch TV of course but When it's dark, breezy and in the 50ies outside a nice sitcom before bed is sometimes nice. 3. Were there any dimmers to adjust the lighting down from solar flare to reasonable. Nope. Just the palm of my hand or sunglasses. Again By the way, the Cambria area is awesome with some great wholesome dining experiences. Linn's and Robin's. Wow! We've stayed along Moonstone over the years. Just never @ the Cambria Shores Inn. Guess what? Never again because there are lots of choices along Moonstone. I'd like to rate it a 1 star. But, Mother Nature helped take the feeling of total disappointment away. Every time We strolled down the Moonstone board walk across the street it melted Our disappointment away. For a while. What a beautiful Ocean front.

I called multiple times over two days to confirm we were bringing our dog and never got an answer. you do have to leave a voicemail and they will return call. There is no AC unit, which may be an issue for some guests. especially for hotter days and the room does not have cross wind/circulating windows, Also, the booking photos show a sliding glass door to the beach (Hotel.com needs to update photos), but the hotel is actually across the street. Our window faced the water, but it's not a direct walk-out beach property. Now for the positives, the staff (all of them) were amazing. The rooms are bungalow-style and very clean and spacious. The hotel is pet-friendly $100 fee, and check-in/check-out was easy. The check-in area feels cozy and homey, with couches, chairs, books, and games available. They offer beer, wine, adult beverages (Adult options for your coffee), plus a kitchen and outdoor fireplace sitting area. The hotel is directly across the street from the beach, about a 2-min walk to the water. The room was large and well-stocked with a mini fridge (fees may apply), huge comforters, bathrobes, slippers, a fan, fireplace, shower supplies such as body wash, shampoo, and conditioner, and a sitting chair. There are many additional amenities available for a fee in the room and in their lobby area. In the morning, they deliver a basket with pastries croissants, cinnamon rolls, coffee, orange juice, and champagne, a really nice touch. They also have bikes you can use and go bike riding, corn hole games, picnic benches, There's also an ice maker on-site. Parking spaces are small, so be cautious if you have a lifted truck or wide rims. The area itself is very nice. The hotels along the coastline are set up similarly, facing north and south, so most have somewhat obstructed or no ocean views or direct walk-on beach access. Overall, I would definitely recommend this place, Hotel cost wasn't too bad but remember all the hotels in this area do not have walk out beach rooms. Area is very quiet, relaxing, and peaceful, and EVERYONE is pet friendly even with a pitbull breed. Our kids had a blast in the ocean and were able to play board games eat ice cream and enjoy the scenery. there are several benches along the walk path in case you need to sit down and relax. There is small community town about 15min tops. several restaurants and shopping. old town style, very homey. so, if you're looking for a disconnect type of vacation, no party scene, just want peaceful and relaxation, this is the place. I will attach pictures and I do apologize because these were at the end of the trip and not when we first arrived. so, excuse the beds. The hotel was very clean and have hardwood floors.

I don't think any of it was malicious -- but the pattern of repeated errors on a single reservation suggests a real problem with how this property handles folios.
