Stayed here a couple nights in the king suite. We had two fireplaces, a balcony and a whole living area. The furniture & tv's could be updated but overall it was very comfortable. Staff is friendly. It is a dog friendly property, so if you're allergic ask about that. They told us our room didn't allow dogs but the room next door had a dog so I don't think they were very truthful. I have been traveling around the U.S. with my partner for the last 3 months. We decided to treat our self to a nicer place to stay. It was truly disgusting. Not only do they not clean your room - they also refill the same containers over and over. Spiders inside our shower, poorly staffed restaurant (we sat there for an hour without checking from servers) and to top it off the cleaning team entered our room without knocking, while I was getting out of the shower. I've had better at a La Quinta, save your money and your decency. read more

If I could give negative stars I would. This was the 3rd stay to Cambria Pines Lodge this year alone and our wedding anniversary celebration. I had reserved a junior suite for the large soaking tub as advertised on their website. We arrived at 8:30 pm after driving 3 hours after work to get there. We were given a handicapped accessible room that did not have the large soaking tub. When I went back to the front desk to ask for a different room I was told there were no other options, "I reserved a Junior Suite and I received a junior suite. If I didn't like it I could check out." Note: there was an option to reserve the handicap accessible suite or a regular suite on the website. I had reserved the regular suite. There was no apology, no attempt to rectify the situation. The front desk staff were so cold and heartless. The response of either take it or leave it left in tears. I sent an email Monday morning after we returned home. I have yet to receive a response to my email. Not even a simple acknowledgement and we will look into this and get back to you. We had to find another hotel room at 9 pm on a Friday night. No small venture in Cambria during the summer. Clearly this hotel does not care about their customers especially repeat customers. This is our second time to stay in this place. It is a quaint serene place to stay for the family. Love the country and cottage style of the rooms with lots of lush trees plants and flowers. We enjoyed the dining, restaurants, bar , salon and live music inside. The room is pretty decent but I recommend the TV to be hang on the wall so it's not bulky and the carpet to be clean. We came to Cambria for a one night stay at the pines lodge. We purchased the Pines Lodge Christmas package. You get one night stay at the Pines Lodge and access to the Cambria Christmas Market, one parking spot on property and breakfast the next day. Our stay included access to the full market including light displays, vendor booths and food booths. The Lodge is located in Cambria. The Christmas market and lodge are located on the same property. The rooms at the lodge are like cottages with very modern amenities. The inside is very nice. We stayed in a King large suite. We had two fireplaces, a mini fridge and a microwave. Our room was right next to one of the entrances of the Christmas market. We were just a few feet away from it, which was so convenient. We also had a balcony that looked over the Christmas market light displays. There was parking all over the property. We were able to find one right by our room. Breakfast was also included. It was a buffet style breakfast that was good. Our room was lovely and very clean. It's very quaint and cozy. My only complaint was the bed. It was extremely uncomfortable. I didn't sleep at all because of it. It seemed old and overused. There were imprints of where one would lay down, beach side of the bed. So when you lay down on it, you sink into a whole. It was awful. They need to replace that. If you have a sensitive back, the bed will be a problem for you. The check in and check out process was flawless. I did the pre check in and check out online. I highly recommend that. We were given a parking pass, breakfast pass and bracelets for entry into the Christmas market. The staff were very friendly and helpful. I would love to return to the Christmas market next year but may opt to stay somewhere else because of the uncomfortable bed. Hopefully they will update their beds in the near future. read more

In an area that is surprisingly limited on live music options, that's a staple at the lodge. We went there and had snacks twice, so I don't have a lot to say about the food, except what we had was very good. The drinks were actually quite good, and the bartenders do a decent job. There's also a decent selection of beer, which to me means something beyond the all too common IPA. It's popular, and sometimes seating can be tight. And there is one suspect couch, which does need to be retired, but that didn't deter us from having a good time, and meeting some new people from other parts of the US, and the world. read more

This property was a place my family visited about 10 years ago, and we enjoyed it so much that we've always hoped to return. Unfortunately, our recent stay was a very different experience. Major mold problem in room 815 Stay: May 1st-3rd, 2026. On the final morning of our stay, we discovered what appeared to be black mold above the shower. Because my parents are immunocompromised, we immediately packed up and left. We reported the issue to the front desk at checkout, and the staff member said he would inform management. As of Monday at 1:26 p.m., we have not received any follow-up. Overall, the property has significantly declined and is in need of major updates. The handrails leading to the building were broken and unstable. The furniture is very outdated, and the beds were extremely firm and uncomfortable compared to what we remembered. Several features required maintenance fireplaces were difficult to operate, our front door would not close properly, and our key cards stopped working after the first day, leaving us with only one functioning key despite following all handling instructions. The restaurant experience was inconsistent. Friday night was excellent, but on Saturday there appeared to be a change in chef and bartender, and the food preparation differed noticeably from the menu (for example, the mushrooms). Service, however, was good on both nights. Due to the serious health concern of discovering mold in our room, the lack of follow-up from management after reporting it, and the overall decline in the property's condition and maintenance, we do not feel comfortable returning. Issues with safety, such as broken handrails and a door that would not properly close, along with inconsistent amenities and service, made this stay far below our expectations. What was once a place we loved and looked forward to revisiting no longer meets a standard we can trust, especially when traveling with vulnerable family members. read more

This lodge is pretty nice. Lots of land to walk around, not too far from the main town. They have a nice restaurant on site, a bar that serves food, has happy hour and music every night. This was our first time staying there, and the room we got was an older room. It has some updating that needs to be done. There looked to be water damage on the floor, paint missing from the baseboards, and probably one of the smaller TVs I've seen in a hotel room in a long time. No air-conditioning or heater in the room. In spite of the older room, I would come back here again. We had such a fun time. They do a big Christmas event, and that looks like an awesome event. read more

We arrived at the hotel earlier than 3:00. We were pleased that we could check in early. We received our room keys and we pleasantly surprised with the charming room and the outdoor private patio and faux fireplace. Things turned bad when guests arrived upstairs and downstairs. The walls are so thin so we heard screaming babies, children talking and very loud footsteps upstairs and next store to us. It sounded like Lurch was living upstairs with a herd of horses. In addition when the cleaning crew showed up in the morning they were very loud and shouted at each other from the stairwell. We decided to leave on Saturday and not stay through Monday. My husband went to the front desk and they were rude when we checked out. He asked for a receipt to ensure we were not charged for Sunday and the hostess told him we process receipts in 24 hours. Interestingly there was a lady in front of him who had her hotel bill receipt. Overall we were extremely disappointed with the accommodations the rude women at the hostess desk. Needless to say we will not be going back. I will rate the restaurant separately, that too was not good! read more

This property is one of our favorite spots in Cambria Ca. to stay. The location is picturesque and the grounds are kept absolutely beautiful. The units have recently been repainted on the exterior. The restaurant is located off the main lobby area as well as a lounge. Food service is absolutely phenomenal. The courtyard area is beautiful. You can dine there as well. Just a beautiful place to relax and enjoy your meal. There is a swimming pool on this property and so many things to do within walking distance. The only problem was that our shower and sink had drainage issues that needed attention. We were left standing in water while showering. The interior of the units need TLC to include updating in all areas of the unit we were in. Cob webs greeted us at the entry door they had to be swipe away before opening the door. Stair wells also had cob webs which could have been easily removed by maintenance or house keeping. I still feel it's 5 stars because of staff , location , property, and the beauty of the grounds. read more

When I arrived, I waited to be seated. There were no other tables waiting for orders -- my family and I were the only ones waiting. The waiter noticed me but continued cleaning tables, and I felt like he was pretending not to acknowledge that we were there. I thought, "Okay, I'll let him finish what he's doing." When my son arrived and saw the same thing, it was clear the waiter knew we were waiting -- yet he kept pretending to be busy. Even after finishing all the tables, he walked over to the fireplace area and began cleaning there instead of greeting us. Staff need to be trained to treat every customer the same, regardless of race or gender. I was honestly very offended by this treatment, so we left and took our business elsewhere. read more

Location Is quietly hidden by the Pine Trees of Cambria. It's a minute drive from downtown Cambria and minutes from Moonstone Beach & the beautiful Hearst Castle. Check In was easy; luckily I booked a room right across from Lounge/Restaurant. Parking easy. I paid for breakfast to be included In our stay and wish I would have not done that. The breakfast was a little disappointing but did the job. The room was very cute, a little stuffy but we didn't stay In the room much. I would recommend new mattresses as the springs would pop when you sat or laid down on the bed. If you do stay here opt for the top floor or maybe you'll get lucky and not have to adjust to the people above you for us they sounded like they were bowling. The lounge does offer the restaurant menu and I recommend that over breakfast. We visited the lounge on a Saturday night and it got a little busy, the one man band was nice. We had their Kale Salad & bruschetta with some margaritas. The margaritas were not balanced well with the mix and tequila. Food/appetizer were good which is why the breakfast buffet was a disappointment. read more

Only one down side was that we were on a ground level unit and there were 10 people upstairs of us -- 8 were children under 5 y/o -- and it was horrible! read more

Charming property with a lodge vibe and modern amenities. We had a king junior suite that was very roomy with 'lodge chic' decor. It was so nice to open the windows at night to get a cool breeze. And the grounds were very peaceful and nicelylandscaped. I recommend getting a top floor so you don't have people stomping around over you...it's quite loud but luckily our neighbors above went to bed early. Upon checkout. We have literally stayed EVERYWHERE in Cambria from Moonstone, to hilltop forest rentals, cabins, homes, etc., you name it. This was our 1st time staying at Cambria Pines Lodge and I'm very glad we did. For us, as an older & recently married couple, these are our 5 top things we need in either a hotel, rental or whatever: 1. King bed, not even a question, why don't all places have king sized beds? 2. Prefer a stand alone cottage, house or whatever, WITHOUT ANY COMMON WALLS WITH NEIGHBORS. 3. Breakfast included 4. Bathtub if possible 5. Very clean Cambria Pines Lodge had all of that as well as a beautiful, dedicated little outside space with patio chairs, all for under $300 a night on an October weekend! We had two fireplaces!!! I mean, they really outdid themselves when they built these little cottages, we were extremely happy in this quiet and clean cottage. As the property is very large, there are multiple types of rooms available, we opted for the stand alone cottage, king size suite with bathtub, separate shower, kitchenette, patio and 2 fireplaces. We were extremely pleased, the only thing we could say is that the furniture although extremely comfortable was a bit old and worn. The King bed was wonderful, with plenty of blankets and pillows. The property also does weddings most weekends outside, so if you don't like noise, maybe get a room away from the lodge, which we did and there was literally no noise at all. The hotel has a nice pool and hottub, but the hottub didn't seem warm enough for a cold day (and others were saying it wasn't hot) so we skipped it. They had a relaxed lounge with lounge lizard type singers 5:30-8:30pm which was awesome for Halloween. They had a huge Halloween party anyone could attend outside. They probably had a wedding party as well (don't know for sure) and the restaurant which my husband used. He said the breakfast which was included in the price was okay. All in all, we will be back and we already booked our next stay which I was told was 20% off for your first return visit. When I checked out I got sort of rushed out by a frazzled front desk person who made the reservation but wouldn't give me a paper reservation. Be very careful! The room does not have ACs even though they seemed to have AC controllers on the wall. We stayed in a family suite for th weekend in June. We found the wall controllers do not seem to work. Called the front desk they told us they do not have ACs and promised to send two fans in. The guy who delivered it brought just one. When we asked, he rudely replied just one for one room but the family suite has two rooms and can accommodate 6 people! The suite cost me over $400 and the website never mentioned that it didn't have AC. Will not stay at this hotel again! read more

So we recently stayed at the lodge and I was super excited about it, thinking our own private cabin was going to be perfect. However I was a little disappointed. The overall grounds were absolutely beautiful and well kept. On the outside the cabins looked so cute. Then we opened the door to our cabin and immediately the ambiance was dark, dated and musty. It actually gave off creepy vibes. The red couch in the living area was faded, stained and smelt so bad I didn't want to even sit on it. There was one depressing table with two chairs off to the side in an area that just didn't make sense. The fans are your only source of air flow unless you open the windows but if you open the windows everyone can see into your cabin. The bathroom was very large, no complaints there. The bed, blankets and pillows were also ok, no complaints there. My biggest regret was the $55 we spent on unlimited pizza, salad and a bottle of wine for 2. Sounds good right? You should have seen the pizza. I thought it was a joke and regret not taking a picture. The flier made it seem like you were getting some amazing wood fired pizza - ummm no. I would have preferred a frozen pizza over whatever was served. The crust was soggy, cheese and sauce cold and not even cooked through and the slices so small that I can't believe it was handmade. Honestly it's hard to mess up pizza and that's the worst I've ever had. Salad was good tho! Staff was super friendly and attentive so that's a plus. But honestly after reading other peoples reviews about mold and our experience I don't think we will be back. read more

One of our go-to places to stay on the central coast. Our latest stay was in a king suite spa tub room, with two fireplaces, two tvs, micro, fridge, full couch, lovely wooden furnishings which was reasonably priced in February. Grounds are lovely, especially their gardens behind the lobby/lounge. We have stayed here several times in an upstairs unit with a view out over the valley.Their Christmas lights are a must, but book early. Restaurant is great, the lounge has a happy hour and live music. You can walk down the hill to town, and its a great spot to stay if touring Hearst castle, or checking out the elephant seals ten minutes up the coast. read more

This was my first time staying here and it did not disappoint. The grounds are so pretty and lush. I was here for a wedding and it was very memorable. The complimentary breakfast is from 7:30a - 10:30a and offers a nice selection. The rooms are comfortable and have a fridge, microwave and the ability to make some coffee. The lodge sends pleasant text messages and many of the features can be done electronically (including check out). Check in is after 3p and check out is before 11a. read more

Wow! This was the best place to bring our pupper! It had a little patio, perfect for him to go out on to. The room was large and roomy. We had a small incident with the fireplace (person before us left the pilot on) so our room was super hot. We just rang the front desk and within 10 minutes the service guy was there with a fan in hand and was able to determine the pilot was left on and took care of it for us! The grounds are lovely! There is a staircase which leads to downtown. Be prepared, it's got 257 steps, definitely not for the out of shape. We loved taking walks, with our pup, on the trail around the property. I can't forget the food! If you book directly through the property you get to enjoy the breakfast buffet at the restaurant. This isn't just a continental brekkie, it's a full on breakfast! Eggs, sausage, French toast, sautéed veggies, and oatmeal. It was all delicious! Just a heads up - if you have a dog you need to make reservations to stay via phone, because not all of the rooms are dog friendly. They are super helpful over the phone, shout out to Leona, and will get you the room you need! We will definitely be back! read more

We have been coming to Cambria at least once a year for almost 20 years. Our first stay was here after getting engaged and our last stay was also here and the last family vacation we had before my father in law passed. This trip was in memory of him. Our experience was terrible. Three separate rooms were booked by two different people through the hotel. When checking in both people had the wrong rooms assigned and were told it was booked through Expedia despite email confirmations saying otherwise. The front desk staff consisted of a trainee and another person with zero talent for guest service. Others checking in before us were having the same issues and yet everyone checking in was to blame according to them. Check in took almost 45 minutes because almost everyone in line was upset. We had to pay for breakfast out of pocket because they said we booked third party and was pretty terrible in comparison to years past. The selection was cheap. You bus your own tables (including scraping food into open trash cans and wiping down tables) and yet are asked to tip. The pool was out of towels two days in a row so bring your own. Our room wasn't super clean and the fixtures were not in good condition. The faucet for the bathroom sink shot water out to the side and directly at you. The grounds were still beautiful and the room layout was nice even if it wasn't what we booked. The lounge was nice as usual and the restaurant was the same. That being said, after over a dozen stays here, I think we're fine not coming back. read more

I have stayed at this hotel before and always enjoyed. However, this time was just horrible. The room assigned was old, musty, and the furniture was old and broken. We were given another room bigger but just as bad. The staff never apologized and frankly could care less. We left a day early because the stay was so horrible. I asked to speak to a manager and as it was a Sunday no one was available. I was given business cards. I wrote to them the next day and never received a response back. I had requested a refund on my stay and of course it was not given. Would never stay there again. We did reserve a forest view and got some trees and a shed as our view. read more

This is a hotel located on a hill. This place has a forest landscape with a rural feel to it. It is worth mentioning that all the rooms are individually separated and have spectacular forest views. Besides, if you are lucky, you may see some wild animals such as deer, hares, and birds. We have seen them all. And this hotel has a big swimming pool and a jacuzzi next to the restaurant. The room was cozy and big with a fireplace and a tub. From the backyard or balcony, you can see plenty of trees. I would recommend it when traveling through San Simeon or Cambria. Especially during the Christmas Lights show. Parking at Cambria Pines Lodge is reserved for the hotel guests and the VIP lodge parking costs about $40-60. read more

Our stay at Cambria Pines Lodge was absolutely fantastic! Quiet? That's an understatement--it was like the whole place had a mute button. Birds chirping, trees swaying, no screaming kids or rogue leaf blowers--just peace in its purest form. If you're looking for a serene escape, this is it. We scored a room super close to the stairs leading down into town (not a bad climb at all) and just a short walk from the pool and hot tub, which I'm happy to report was at perfect steamy Goldilocks temperature. Not too hot, not too cold--just right for a night soak under the stars. We booked one of their special packages that included dinner and breakfast each day, and both meals hit the spot. The lodge's main building is beautiful and gave me strong "old money meets rustic charm" vibes. Now, let's talk about our room: it had TWO fireplaces--one in the bedroom, one in the sitting area--because apparently we were living the good life for the weekend. Cozy, romantic, and just the right amount of "I feel like I should be wearing a bathrobe and sipping something fancy." Only downside? The bathroom-to-bed proximity. Let's just say the sandwich I had in town turned on me faster than a plot twist in a telenovela. There I was, experiencing a gastrointestinal exorcism just feet from the bed while my poor girlfriend tried to hold in her laughter between my dramatic cries of, "Ohhh my gosh" and "What the heck did I eat?!" Not ideal for a first vacation as a couple, but hey--if she didn't run after that, we're solid. Despite my digestive downfall, I would 100% stay here again for a romantic getaway. The staff was super friendly, and I loved that you could text them questions and get an immediate response like some kind of magical hospitality hotline. The property grounds are breathtaking and beautiful. The staff is very kind and welcoming. We loved the garden , the bar/ restaurant with live entertainment and the breakfast served in the morning. The rooms , you get what you pay for basically not a 4 or 5 star rating maybe a 3 at most . The furniture is old , smells and it's dirty. The walls were dirty and door handles were dirty. It was smelly and dirty.... Really left an impression on me ...would probably never stay here with my family again. I think they only clean and replace the sheets. The fact that we returned back and the card reader did not work and we had to flag down maintenance crew to open our door and bring us new cards really was over kill. The property itself was very nicely decorated. Maybe property management needs to address the cleaning issue and inspect the rooms after cleaning. Kudos to the hard working staff at the bar, kitchen and front desk , regardless of the shortcomings of the room they put a smile on our face. read more

Our room was clean, and we had the jet tub suite, which was very nice--big and spacious. The resort itself is quite nice too, although a bit outdated; they seem to be maintaining a lodge-style theme. The main reason we chose this place was that it offered a hot breakfast. We stayed for three nights, and the breakfast was the same each day. One day, they had French toast, but it was mostly sausage, roasted potatoes, and eggs mixed with bell peppers and cheese, which were really good--much better than the spinach version. They also offered orange juice, three selections of cereal, coffee, oatmeal, and fruit. Overall, it was a pleasant stay, but I wish they would include bacon or vary the menu a bit. We hoped for an early check-in, but our room wasn't ready; check-in isn't until 3 PM. read more
