What a sweet little place! I stopped here after a very long day of driving down the CA coast, and the desk manager Jill was so very helpful, both on my way down and once I got here. The location is ideal, the bed and amenities incredibly comfy, and the little touches like how they fold the tissues are so sweet. There's even a fireplace! And I found out they have two pet-friendly rooms if you call far enough in advance, so next time I can bring my boy. Staying here felt like a warm hug after a long day! Our home for the next few days at a really cute and cozy inn right off the oceanfront. Unfortunately, we did not get a room right off the street but we still get some stunning views. The inn is located on the state beach access road with the other small inns. This location is only two floors and we got the 2nd floor in the middle. The lobby is cute and offers complimentary coffee in the morning and tourist information (where to go and what to see). Our room is nice. It came with two queen beds with a mini bar/kitchen. We have a Keurig machine and complimentary cookies and water bottles. There is no central air but a ceiling fan to cool off the room. There is a faux decorative fireplace to warm up the room and to make it a bit romantic if you are staying with your significant other. Bathroom has a shower and is pretty good in size just like the room. There is a complimentary breakfast each morning and you can order one meal from the selections. Anything extra is an additional $5. Food is good and service is quick. If you are here for a couple days or just spending the night, this is the place to. Be. You are conveniently across the street from the beautiful ocean and there are some cool and popular restaurants a few doors down like the Sea Chest. Plus, it doesn't feel like one of those big chain hotels and feels like a home away from home. Happy staying! read more

Did not have any issues what so ever. We checked in a little after 6pm but sunset wasn't until a little after 8pm. So had plenty of time to get settled in. Reception is in the back where a lot of the parking is at. Kathleen at the front desk checked us in. She was very sweet and friendly. We paid for the ocean/beach room. She put us in 219. There was a little couch that was in front of the window you could open to the outside. You could hear the waves crashing all night. The inn is in great shape. Stayed here for the second time and had another great stay. We took advantage of the Black Friday sale last November and got 40% off our booking. We booked the King Partial view room (214) and was surprised how great the view was! The room was immaculate, bed was comfy, nice to have a walk-in shower, roomy bathroom vanity, microwave, fridge, and keurig coffee maker. Cookies and free bottles of water in the room too. Hot egg wraps for breakfast delivered to your room. Faux fireplace heater kept the room really toasty. Decent wifi and was able to watch movies with our Firestick with no buffering. Decent TMobile cellular signal too. Squeegee and towels to help wipe your car windows are a nice touch. Very friendly staff. We've stayed in six different places on Moonstone beach over the years and the Sand Pebble and their sister hotel, the Blue Dolphin, are our favorite Inns. read more

I just got back from my two night stay at this inn. I'm giving it a 3 out of 5 stars due to the list of pros and cons below. Pros: clean rooms, friendly cleaning staff & great location right off the beach Cons: The king suite was right off the staff reception desk and restroom which made it noisy and overall not ideal. The suite also did not have a table to eat on like the smaller rooms. We had trays to eat off of on a couch and we had to balance our coffee on it while trying to eat. On the 2nd morning my husband received the wrong breakfast order. He decided not to say anything but it took away from our experience. read more

Room was super cute! View of ocean, windows open all the way! Cookies next to coffee pot with plenty of Keurig pods (strong). Tiny coffee cups, 6oz only. Room was 202.....cut down that tree! Sunset and view of the ocean was beautiful! Bathroom had plenty of room, no counter space. Has Q-tips, cotton balls and makeup remover cloths. Cross the highway, you are on the beach! Check Out I asked for a receipt and was told I purchased via Expedia (hotels.com)and was not getting a receipt from the hotel. Breakfast burritos was flour when requested corn and had a conversation about corn tortillas. Yogurt is a frozen parfait but tasty. I was never asked about my stay upon leaving. Cozy oceanfront hotel located in charming seaside Cambria. The hotel is quaint and immaculately clean with roomy accommodations and a complimentary breakfast (delivered to your door during covid). While not every room is ocean-facing, most at least have a partial ocean view, or you can spring for a fancier, oceanfront room with a private patio. They also have a shared outdoor seating area on the front, northern end of the property that is open to any guest. If spending time in Cambria, Sand Pebbles makes you feel at home. read more

We booked a one-night stay based on the reviews and extremely glad and sad we did. Glad because it was a great stay and sad that it was only for one night. Jill at the front desk was awesome and made sure she would arrange a late check-in for us if needed. The room was a king patio with ocean view and it was just as described/expected. It was clean, the bed was very comfortable, and the electric fireplace provided nice ambiance. The breakfast burritos they provided for breakfast were a great size and delicious. Appreciated they included orange juice, sauces, and napkins. The only negative was when we tried to use the bath/jacuzzi, as we were filling up the tub with water, there was a milky residue mixing in. Since we didn't know if it was soap or cleaner/bleach, we decided not to use the tub unfortunately. read more

My family and I stayed for one night and did not want to leave. The room was clean and just beautiful. There was an electric fireplace that was a nice touch. I made a reservation on the same day of the 2 day visit, on a weekend. Kathleen was awesome. She was very professional, caring and a pleasant representative of a very fine chain of hotels. We really enjoyed our stay seeing all the sights and fine dining from Cambria, Hearst Castle, to Morro Bay and San Luis Obispo. The room was extremely clean, large, comfortable, like new in appearance and offered a lot of extras much higher priced hotels or resorts don't offer. We can't wait to go back and for me it was mostly thanks to Kathleen and the other staff that made our stay memorable. My teenage son seemed to only use his phone for taking pictures of the ocean, sea lions, otters, deer, a heard of zebras, birds, and all the historical sights we visited. Awesome. I am only giving this place 4 stars because they are EXTREMELY STRICT on their check in times. It's off season now and I heard they are short staffed, but prioritize your room cleaning to have your high priced rooms done first to accommodate. Kinda not my problem and when I come at 2! Cambria is becoming one of our favorite overnight stops on our Bay Area-LA road trip along Highway1. We had a 5-star stay at the Little Sur Inn in November but this time decided to try San Pebbles Inn, which happens to be like two doors down. I'm happy to report another 5-star hotel with great service and amenities. Reasons San Pebbles Inn is awesome: 1. Free EV charging stations - for Tesla and plug-in hybrids. 2. Large, comfy rooms with a soft bed. Nice touch with adding cookies and chocolates. 3. Awesome breakfast with a nice lady cranking out waffles for you. Oatmeal was creamy and they had lots of toppings. Cinnamon scones seemed homemade and were moist, unlike those dried things you might find at Starbucks. They also serve Peerless Coffee. 4. Walking distance to Sea Chest Restaurant -trust me, the oysters there are enough reason to come to Cambria. 5 Fast and free wifi. The only area of improvement I see would be to replace the carpet with hardwood floors like Little Sur Inn. Still, you can't go wrong with either in Cambria. read more

We stayed here from Wednesday through Friday and we invited two of our friends to stay at this hotel with us, they stayed in room 209 and we stayed in room 217 with a beautiful view of the ocean. We took some pictures from our view. We did like that idea that have a couch facing the ocean and they also have binoculars. The shower has soft water and comfortable beds. Beautifully appointed room with everything you could possibly want. We had a full front Ocean View room with a patio which had a small table and comfortable chairs allowing us to spend some very enjoyable hours watching the ocean and people strolling by on the wooden Boardwalk. The room was spacious, great bed with nice Linens and plenty of pillows. Spotlessly clean and the bathroom had both a Jacuzzi tub and separate glass enclosed shower, I also appreciated the lighted magnifying mirror and hair dryer. The room had a 55 inch television, and nice overstuffed chair plus a very small table and two chairs for enjoying our breakfast. Very quiet and we never heard our neighbors either above us or on either side of us. The shower had a good flow and was nice and hot. Pre-selected breakfast was served to our room every morning on time and my favorite was a homemade vanilla yogurt with fresh blueberries and granola topping. We have been to Cambria nine times since 1990 and stayed in several different Inns along Moonstone Beach and without a doubt, Sand Pebbles Inn is our favorite. read more

Fabulous stay, exactly what I was hoping for. Years ago we visited Cambria for the first time and since then I wanted to return and stay at a beach-front property. We stayed in one of the ocean-facing ground floor rooms with a patio. The room was comfortable, spacious and had the amentities you'd want. We started out turning on the electric fireplace but ended up turning on the ceiling fan in the middle of the night. An exciting point of the stay was in the evening (maybe 8-9pm) the power went out for the entire block, the hotel staff offered lanterns and PG&E estimated electricity would return around 2am. We sat on our patio chairs and enjoyed the star-filled sky with less light pollution getting in the way. What a great memory! Minus one star because the only vegan breakfast offering was orange juice so we missed out on that experience. Upon check in they provide a door-hanger where you fill out your breakfast order, they ask that you put out your order by 7pm the night before. They kindly decline alterations to the menu options. I believe the options were breakfast burritos with egg, etc. read more

We had an absolutely wonderful stay at the Sand Pebbles Inn. You can't beat the location, right across from Moonstone Beach. We were hoping for one of the ground floor patio oceanfront rooms, but those book up quickly, especially in summers on the weekends, but were fortunate to get a partial ocean view, Deluxe Queen room (#215), which we absolutely loved. Although it was called a "partial" view - it really had an incredible ocean view, and lovely little sitting area to sit and watch the waves, and even a fireplace, that we would have been tempted to use if the weather were cooler. The room had a really calm, peaceful vibe. Beautifuly and tastefully decorated, with classy seascape artwork, upscale beach furnishings and large bathroom. My husband kept saying, "I love this room;" "I love this room!" And I did, too. We loved the sound and sight of the gently crashing waves. And we enjoyed that right out the front door, we could walk on the beach, the wooden boardwalk, and to the Sea Chest restaurant two doors down, and the Moonstone Beach Bar & Grill, five minutes' walk in the opposite direction. This is our first time to the Inn, but hopefully will not be our last. read more

Stayed here over the weekend to get away from the big city and recharge. Ideal location right in front of the ocean. Close proximity to a walking trail adjacent to the coastline. Our room was clean and a bottle of hand sanitizer was there for your convenience. Bed was comfy (if you like soft beds). Room has a mini fridge and single cup coffee maker. Bathroom has been renovated. Recommendation to property owner: Please replace your complimentary bar soaps. I feel like no matter how hard I wash my hands, the soap is still there. I guess it's just an "oily" soap for me. Restaurants: The reataurants along Moonstone are closed due to COVID, not even takeout. Go downtown on Main Street and you will find a few. I will return for sure. Since Sand Pebbles is part of a group of hotels along Moonstone, I will give the others a try. Also, kudos to the sweet older lady at the front reception desk. read more

There was even a bottle of hand sanitizer on a side table. This staff takes every precaution and we as guests really thank them for that. We stayed two nights. read more

My boyfriend booked a room here for our baby moon, thru booking.com and he originally paid for a King room with full ocean view. When we arrived, he had let the reception lady know that we had our fur baby as it does say this place is pet friendly on the website. She let him know that the room he booked was not pet friendly and that she would give us another room and not charge us the pet fee (trying to even out the total he paid for). When we went back to the website, it was still a $60 difference so he went back to ask her about it and she just told him we'd have to go thru booking.com to sort it out. Annoyed, we just let it go because this is supposed to be a joyous time for us. Our room was 114 it still had a spa tub and it was partially an ocean view, so it was fine since we were going to be out and about anyways. Well, our spa tub knob was broken but still worked AND after filling it up had a bunch of dead roaches coming out! Gross! Super disappointed in that but we cleaned the tub out ourselves and tried again with success. TLDR: book directly thru the sand pebbles inn website as it seems that they don't even communicate with other booking websites. This place does not have AC so don't come when the weather is hot! Double check your spa tub and beds as there are bugs. read more

Great motel. Fantastic location right across street from waterfront. You can watch waves from room if you have a room with that view. Unfortunately there are not many room that have an ocean view. There is an outside sitting area as well. Breakfast has a few choices and is delivered to your room. Even hot off the stove for breakfast egg burritos which are big. The location of the hotel is fantastic - the area is beautiful. However, the deluxe ocean view room provides a small side window and only a glimpse of the ocean. The showers - no matter the time of day - run decidedly tepid. The rooms themselves are very small and most overlook the parking lot. Lastly, they are short staffed and no longer providing maid service daily. We had a small issue with an area of our room that was over looked in the cleaning but when we mentioned it, it didn't get resolved for a couple of days. Again, the location is lovely, front desk staff was friendly and we weren't in our room too much. Having said that, we wouldn't stay here again. read more

Sand Pebbles is located on beautiful Moonstone beach just a few feet from the water. We reserved room #117, oceanfront, king bed , fireplace, walk in shower, Jacuzzi tub and patio. The room is spacious and also has a mini refrigerator. A continental breakfast with fruit, hot and cold cereals and waffles is served in a breakfast room. Since our room was just down the hall, we decided to take the breakfast to our room. The Inn is an excellent location for sunsets and a hike on the boardwalk which is part of the central coast trail system. read more

It's a small but cozy motel literally across the street from the cliff top and ocean. It's also just a couple doors down and 10 second walk from the wonderful Sea Chest restaurant. Rooms are clean and spacious. The interior is much nicer looking and cozier than the somewhat nondescript exterior suggests. Nice breakfast is included with your stay. There are fresh waffles, cereal, oatmeal, coffee and pastries. This is a really good choice for a stay along Moonstone Beach. read more

Cute little Inn across from ocean and boardwalk easy access for our walks. Even though we did not have an "ocean view" room, we did have a nice peekaboo view from on of our windows and you can hear the ocean waves. Glad we didn't do ocean front, since your right on the street. I thought the car traffic was a bit noisy and we were toward back of hotel. Rooms nice size and clean, baths adequate but small. They brought a breakfast to our room each morning (included) with OJ and a choice of egg/ham/cheese burrito or egg/bell pepper/onion/cheese burrito or a vanilla yogurt parfait with berries and granola. Tried all and very yummy and burritos still hot. Rooms came with coffee maker, coffee, creamer, microwave and handy for storing leftovers and drinks. There is also a small little area with four chairs for guests to sit and watch the ocean/sunset. Staff was great and friendly! read more

My husband and I love this inn and have stayed here 3 times this year already. Cambria is a quiet town and is not crowded which helps to promote a relaxed atmosphere. No great adventures in Cambria and Hearst Castle is closed due to COVID, so the most to do is hang at the beach, stroll the boardwalk and drive up the beautiful coast stopping off to see the elephant seals and beautiful vistas and take small hikes. The beach themed rooms are cute, comfortable and clean. We always have a view of the ocean. All of their properties are located on this strip with the beach and boardwalk across the street. We've also stayed at their sister cottages (Moonstone Cottages) down the street which are very cute & cozy too. Rooms have a fridge, microwave, ceiling fan and an electric fireplace. The larger rooms have a jacuzzi tub & shower and nice counter space. The smaller rooms have a walk-in shower and a very, very small counter space. Front desk staff is always so welcoming. A very nice restaurant called The Moonstone Grill is a 5 minute walk away and the food is good. Downtown Cambria has other food choices but you'll need to take a 5 min drive. read more

Wonderful place to stay. Extremely clean and right across from the ocean and the boardwalk. We spent two wonderful nights and Sand Pebbles Inn and booked a 1st floor front, ocean view with a private porch room. The bathroom had a jacuzzi and all the amenities. Electric fireplace, ceiling fan, plenty of seating, a table and one of the most comfortable beds I've slept in (other than mine at home.). And, kudos to the staff for keeping the room absolutely spotless. You can tell they take pride in making sure the rooms are meticulously clean. Callie and Kathleen at the front desk were wonderful and answered all the questions we had. The rooms are not air-conditioned, but the evening air was cool. With a window open and the ceiling fan on, we slept very well. We LOVED having wine on the porch while watching the sun set over the ocean. Truly a wonderful place to relax. And, the hotel is convenient to everything. Other reviews mentioned that you can hear traffic from the front rooms. There was minimal traffic at night and the noise from the cars blended with the waves crashing onto the shore. Falling asleep hearing the ocean was pure heaven. If you're really sensitive to noise, bring a fan or a sound machine. I'm a light sleeper and did not wake once to any outside noise. Believe me, the sound of the waves will lull you to sleep. I will say that the bathtub/jacuzzi is better suited for one person rather than two. The breakfast brought to your room is VERY basic. I'm not sure if the eggs were real or powdered, but there are some really great places for breakfast in the area. If you need to grab and go, the breakfast you'll get at Sand Pebbles will suffice, but think 7-11 burritos. They have one charging station for an electric car. We will definitely stay here again. If you book early, get one of the 1st floor front rooms. You won't regret it. Worth every penny. read more
