Paper thin walls. You can hear people farting, sneezing blowing their nose etc in the rooms next to you. Above you elephant tap dances. Bed was super comfy. Hotel staff were borderline rude or hate their job. Cleaning crew only makes the bed. No restock or throwing away trash or cleaning surfaces. Not worth $250 a night especially if you want to sleep.

Lydia was so nice and helpful with her recommendations. There's a beautiful, enchanting feel to this place. Our room was nice and clean, and we just love how the inn is located across from Moonstone Beach Boardwalk and 6 minutes from Fiscalini Trail and main street. It's ideally situated and just overall charming. Also, I love the little lotion bottles provided (a great scent), and the complimentary cookies in our room were yummy! We'd love to come back!

Up date Go and find elephant seals lounging on the beach this morning. 15 minutes there. Less to Hearst Castle. Miles of natural protected coastline. Nothing like it.

Such a great spot! This was my first time staying on Moonstone Drive. I loved all the outdoor activity options - firepit, Adirondack chairs, pool, spa, and proximity to the beach and boardwalk. In the room, I loved the Keurig, fresh baked cookies and comfort of the seating areas as well as the king bed. It got cold at night and I put the extra blanket to use. The rooms and grounds were very well-cared for and maintained. The only downside was that I should have considered that my room could be on a second story. Lifting heavy things up stairs is not my favorite! I also realized my room was extra drafty because my door had a large gap under it. It needs a "door sweep" or bottom thing to help with that. Loved my ocean view, though. All in all, a fantastic stay!

We were down during the Cambria Christmas Market. This is a older small motel along the coast. Fabulous views of the sunset, fire pit, chairs to watch the view, clean and tidy. The walls and ceiling are thin but it was updated and very well kept. The continental breakfast was a surprise with the big selection of eats. The managers are very nice and the office person was very helpful.

My good friend always stays here whenever she visits the area, and after hearing my daughter rave about it, I decided it was my turn to try it out. The place is so charming and inviting--nothing fancy, but just right. We only stayed for one night, but I found myself wishing we could stay longer. The location is perfect, right across the street from the oceanfront boardwalk, making for a gorgeous and scenic walk. I enjoyed sitting outside in the evening, watching the sunset by the fire pit, which was wonderful. They also offer breakfast in the morning. Unfortunately, I accidentally left my seat cushion, which I need for my back, by the fire pit, and someone took it without turning it in. I was disappointed, as I needed it for the rest of the trip. While it's frustrating, I know it's not Castle Inn's fault. 8/9/24

From the time we drove in and meet Jack to actually getting into our room. Wow wow wow!!!! It is clean inviting and accommodating. But the bonus is their choice of toiletries. This establishment goes the extra mile and brings in the soapbox brand. Sometimes it's the little things and castle inn know that and it shows!!! We will be back for sure

Needed a place to sleep 1 night after Hearst Castle. The motels available closest in San Simeon looked just so so, and that area didn't seem to have much of anything else. So I came across Castle Inn in Cambria during my search, a much nicer town with lots of restaurants and motel/hotels to choose from. Castle Inn had a reasonable price and looked clean in the pics and location seemed perfect across the ocean walkways, and along the strip of motels and restaurants. Cost is more than the San Simeon basic motels, but glad I chose Castle Inn for the stay for us 3. This is a small motel, but it's been updated to look so clean and inviting from the outside. Check in with Mr. Jack was smooth and got the keys to lucky #7 room! Swung open the door and wow, so cute! Super clean interior. Not too roomy but had everything you needed. Bathroom was kinda small (to go in with the kid to help him shower) but modern and clean. Everything felt very clean and fresh, and wife loved the make up seating area too. Loved the lawn chairs and kid was hooked on the swinging bench. He swung most of the night when we were seated around the fire pit with other guests. Seemed like many were regulars who come stay at Castle Inn, so you know this place is good. Kid swung way too much and he actually got some motion sickness from it. Luckily was able to get him washed up and into bed to go to sleep without any issues. The bed on the bathroom side was a bit noisy lumpy maybe, but the bed by the window seemed to be good. Either way, good to have clean bed to sleep on. I loved the fresh cookies, I ate mine up for dessert after dinner at the next next door place, lol. Firm chewy excellent treat! Breakfast at lobby had some pastries and fresh coffee. I was told the cookies and breakfast items are all baked fresh by the owner? Wow, no wonder everything was so good. Morning walk on the endless walkway with a coffee in hand was perfect start to the new day to continue on our way. This place is KISS, keep it simple stupid. Super clean rooms with nice setup and everything needed in a small footprint. Even the parking lot was immaculate and great. I couldn't have picked a better place to stay around the Hearst Castle area.

What a view! Right across from Moonstone Beach. Plus a hot tub, pool (not heated very hot, around 70), and chairs across from the beach. The room was fine, we paid extra for a king. They have a luggage rack, small closet, small bathroom, fridge, desk, side table, keurig. They also had a continental breakfast, which we weren't expecting, along with an EV charger. Main drawback was that the walkway goes right in front of the windows so you need to keep the shades closed for privacy, motel style.

We love coming to Cambria and we have stayed at the Castle Inn a few times since it was acquired by the Cambria Inns collection and totally remodeled. One of the things we appreciate about this property. Is that many of the rooms have a very nice ocean view. Several reviews show the remodeled rooms which are always very clean, but in this review, I wanna focus on the breakfast room and the breakfast spread that is now available to every guest From 7 AM to 10 AM. The breakfast room is a new building that we watched being constructed on earlier visits. You can see from the pictures that they have a nicer array of typical breakfast foods, but there are several fine touches that make it a nice, easy, and accessible breakfast when you're guest of the hotel. First, note that they provide trays so that you can carry things back to your room. This is one of my biggest complaints in many facilities, because if you wanna eat in your room, you may have to make two or three trips to be able to take the things you would like to take. They have a touchless pancake maker that makes one, too, or three pancakes at a time. They also have hard-boiled eggs (which my wife loves) and some instant oatmeal options. I appreciated the yogurt they have cause it's the brand I use at home and I eat it every day. Anyway, check out the pictures and you'll get an idea of what is now available and included in your room rate at the Castle Inn.

Excellent customer service from check in to check out! The room maybe limited in size but surprisingly functional & very clean. Towels, bedsheets & pillows smell so fresh. Toilet paper & napkins are supplied sufficiently. All the section in the room are clean & organized. Complimentary breakfast from 7am to 10am has wide selection of oatmeal, cereals, eggs, pancakes, bread, yogurt, juice, tea, coffee & and lot more. Staff are always present to serve. There's a decent size of swimming pool for adults & kids. Not to mention the beautiful view of the serene beach as a bonus! It's also a walking distance to bars & restaurants.

Really enjoyed the complimentary wine with ocean view and one of my biggest reasons for booking it was due to they accept dogs, which says a lot about an establishment. That being said, there are areas for improvement. When I checked into my room, I noticed that the the dark blinds were stuck so I went to the office to see if they could help. The manager came to my room; tried to lower them and agreed they were stuck. She said she would ask the maintenance person to fix it. A day went by and nobody came by. I was awoken to a bright room early in the morning so my sleep was cut short. I went back the office and the same manager welcomed me with "yeah, what's up"? I highlighted that nobody came by to fix it and she seemed pretty indifferent but said she would request it again. Needless to say, nobody showed up to fix it during my whole stay so I was greeted with shortened sleep thanks to the bright room in the mornings. While I was checking out, I highlighted this to the new manager and she laughed it off, saying that's why she brings blindfolds when she travels. No discount offer or anything. Furthermore, their door key cards are the most sensitive I have ever encountered. I had to have them reprogrammed 3 times during my stay. Also, the owner apparently requested that they close the wine tasting early due to rain so, when I showed up to use my complimentary wine vouchers, I found it closed over an hour earlier than their posted closing time but the server did provide me with the complimentary wine since I was a guest but they were no longer offering food so no marinated olives and nuts to go with it. That being said, the Inn does have a great location; is a value and I love that it is dog-friendly but they do need to work on their customer service. Oh and some more Vegan options and recycling/compost bins would certainly help.

Our window faced the water, but it's not a direct walk-out beach property. Now for the positives, the staff (all of them) were amazing. The rooms are bungalow-style and very clean and spacious. The hotel is pet-friendly $100 fee, and check-in/check-out was easy. The check-in area feels cozy and homey, with couches, chairs, books, and games available. They offer beer, wine, adult beverages (Adult options for your coffee), plus a kitchen and outdoor fireplace sitting area. The hotel is directly across the street from the beach, about a 2-min walk to the water. The room was large and well-stocked with a mini fridge (fees may apply), huge comforters, bathrobes, slippers, a fan, fireplace, shower supplies such as body wash, shampoo, and conditioner, and a sitting chair. There are many additional amenities available for a fee in the room and in their lobby area. In the morning, they deliver a basket with pastries croissants, cinnamon rolls, coffee, orange juice, and champagne, a really nice touch. They also have bikes you can use and go bike riding, corn hole games, picnic benches, There's also an ice maker on-site. Parking spaces are small, so be cautious if you have a lifted truck or wide rims. The area itself is very nice. The hotels along the coastline are set up similarly, facing north and south, so most have somewhat obstructed or no ocean views or direct walk-on beach access. Overall, I would definitely recommend this place, Hotel cost wasn't too bad but remember all the hotels in this area do not have walk out beach rooms. Area is very quiet, relaxing, and peaceful, and EVERYONE is pet friendly even with a pitbull breed. Our kids had a blast in the ocean and were able to play board games eat ice cream and enjoy the scenery. there are several benches along the walk path in case you need to sit down and relax. There is small community town about 15min tops. several restaurants and shopping. old town style, very homey. so, if you're looking for a disconnect type of vacation, no party scene, just want peaceful and relaxation, this is the place. I will attach pictures and I do apologize because these were at the end of the trip and not when we first arrived. so, excuse the beds. The hotel was very clean and have hardwood floors.

I will never stay here again. Maybe the people are not gay friendly... not sure. Bye, bye! Next....

Staff is friendly. It is a dog friendly property, so if you're allergic ask about that. They told us our room didn't allow dogs but the room next door had a dog so I don't think they were very truthful. Overall it worked out for us.

I had reserved a junior suite for the large soaking tub as advertised on their website. We arrived at 8:30 pm after driving 3 hours after work to get there. We were given a handicapped accessible room that did not have the large soaking tub. When I went back to the front desk to ask for a different room I was told there were no other options, "I reserved a Junior Suite and I received a junior suite. If I didn't like it I could check out." Note: there was an option to reserve the handicap accessible suite or a regular suite on the website. I had reserved the regular suite. There was no apology, no attempt to rectify the situation. The front desk staff were so cold and heartless. The response of either take it or leave it left in tears. I sent an email Monday morning after we returned home. I have yet to receive a response to my email. Not even a simple acknowledgement and we will look into this and get back to you. We had to find another hotel room at 9 pm on a Friday night. No small venture in Cambria during the summer. Clearly this hotel does not care about their customers especially repeat customers. Needless to say WE WILL NEVER reserve another room here. Do better Cambria Pines Lodge!!! Thanks for ruining my anniversary!!
