We stayed here to celebrate our 10- year anniversary. The hotel staff was friendly and knowledgeable. The room had amazing views of the ocean and a fireplace. We walked along the beautiful beach and sipped coffee in the morning on the cozy rocking chairs. The reason I am not giving 5 stars is because of the fireplace smell that got a bit too strong when we lit the fire the second night- my husband enjoyed it but I felt we needed a bit of ventilation to breathe comfortably. The restaurant was also lovely with delicious food and friendly staff. We will be back here with our kids next time!

My wife, young daughter and I reserved a partial oceanfront view in the Terrace building, only to arrive and see NO ocean!!! Disappointed to say the least. We also reserved a pack and play which was very dirty. When we spoke to the front desk they told us the only rooms available were an ADA room (which had no bathtub and a very small sink area), or a room with the pool obstructing the view. I got extra sheets to cover the pack and play, and the front desk clerk offered to adjust our bill for the room. I'm not sure yet what the adjustment is. We realize the clerk is not in control of how the rooms are marketed, and I felt badly complaining to her, but come on Cavalier! You can't advertise a room as ocean view and charge for ocean views when there is not a hint of the ocean.

This is not a coastal view room....barely see any water, bushes surround it our place and people constantly walk right by our bedroom

....we came here once and wwe'reed impressedwith it. This time around it was a huge rip off, we got a room with coastal view and we didn't get any. The fireplace was faulty and smoked out our whole room and our lungs/eyes/ got so bad we couldnt couldn'teven slept. They sent a handyman to fix the fireplace but the smoke still filled up the room. I think they have new owners since we last visited. Way overprice overpricedwhen i found out that coastal view is not ocan a ocean viw view.......RIDICULOUS!!.......Don't ever stay here. I will neer will nevercome back here again. We paid close to $400 to have smoke filled room behind a bush with tons of people walkig walkingby our patio door looking into the bed......WONT RECOMMEND IT TO ANYONE even to my enemies

It was a crystal clear no fog weekend in the middle of July when we arrived last Friday, July 9 at our room number 163 on the bottom floor. The best views ever and we leave our door open at night to hear the ocean crashing against the shore. The room was large with a nice king bed and the mattress was very good. Some hotels have terrible mattresses but not this one. And five luxury pillows with more in the drawer. Nice large easy to manage flat screen TV. Excellent room service menu including wine and spirits also. Minibar is well-stocked and reasonably priced. We especially loved watching the Sunset on the benches provided at the ocean then a few steps back are the three fire pits lit each night at sundown and kept well-stocked with real wood. Some people were roasting marshmallows and everyone was so friendly. We did not bring our dog but it is dog friendly and we saw many on and off leash on the beach having a blast. This is going to always be our "go to place". Each room has a wood-burning fireplace and you just telephone the desk and someone comes to light it for you. !!! No elevators so be careful if you cannot do the stairs to get a ground floor patio room. Recommendation is for a make up mirror and a shower grab bar. There is one vertically if you need to get out of the tub but there is no horizontal grab bar to help you when you are showering because the shower is very slippery.

Staying at the Cavalier Inn feels like we have set sail on a cruise. Photo looking out onto our balcony.

Great accommodations, clean, extra comfortable and well equipped. Love staying here for quick get away and celebrations. Very nice during reservation and check in. Love this place

    The chair.

I rate this accommodation as zero star but Yelp requires at least one star. It is equivalent to the "Bates Motel". The room smells like mildew, the carpet is filthy, the furniture is from the 80's. It is not a hotel with ocean views unless you pay an extra $125. We paid $224 during off season. Rip off!!!

The entrance of the hotel was very promising, but it all came down with the experience that followed. We were standing at the desk for 25 mins, no one came to help us check in. In those 25 mins we kept calling, and we could hear the phone ring, but no one answered. From the same room the receptionist came out after half an hour. He had a foul smell coming from that room, although I dont want to comment on what the smell was. After we were provided the room, the room was dirty, there were soiled towels in the bathroom, bedsheets were soiled, and not replaced. When we mentioned this to the receptionist, he provided a different room on the same floor. The room was facing the parking lot, had ONLY A CEILING FAN, A TABLE FAN, AND NO AIR CONDITIONING. One of the bulbs in the new room was not working either, it was flickering the whole time. The sofa was dirty, and stained, and I didnt feel comfortable using it anyways. The only positive of the room was the pressure of the shower, but the spray modes were not working. Overall a very poor experience.

In that the ocean view rooms were old and worn. Dirty curtains. Popcorn ceilings. Lots of things patched together. Small rooms and really dark. I was initially disappointed when we got into our first room. It was not at all what the pictures showed. Being initially on the downstairs unit people would walk by our patio while we're sitting there. Basically looking at us and disturbing our peace. Our 2nd unit was upstairs. Which was a lot better. As we had more privacy and a better view of the ocean. But basically the same layout as downstairs. There were alot of things I enjoyed about this resort, which ultimately left me satisfied with my stay here. For example: 1. The grounds was beautiful and expansive. Lots of greenery. They had a sand volleyball court. Multiple fire pits. A giant chess and checkers board. Multiple areas to sit along the cliff. 2. View from the balcony was unmatched. You have a very expansive and view of the ocean. We werent beach front. We were the ocean view balcony rooms. But it was nice too because you were able to see the grounds of the resort leading into the ocean. Rocking chairs and table too were a nice touch on the balcony. 3. Nice beach access and super close too. No street crossing or dodging cars. 4. Front desk. They moved our rooms (to an upstairs room) with no issues. They also have complimentary toiletries at the front desk. 5. Fire place. Our rooms had fire places. With a lot of compressed wood chip bricks. It definitely warmed up the room and made it so much more romantic. 6. Parking. They have parking right infront of your room. So there isnt that much walking from your vehicle to the room. 7. During the weekdays there was no one here!! You literally had the entire resort to yourself which was amazing!! 8. Close proximity to Cambria as well as the elephant seal viewpoint, as well as many other points of interest. Things that could use some improvement: 1. Rooms. They need an update. Their were stains on certain towels, which is disgusting. 2. Room service. We had our room cleaned one day. They didnt throw any of the trash away on the table. They didnt get rid of the used cups. Nor did they empty the trashcans..... 3. Pillows- the pillows tucked! Beds were super comfy. But im sore and my neck and back is tight.... 4. Gym. Again based on the pictures it was this huge thing. But it was extremely small. Served its purpose. But it looked like an after thought. They were also missing handles on their machines. Overall it was a wonderful 5 night stay. The views are unparalleled. I love how much green space is here. After the weekend there was basically no one here. So it was a very relaxing and enjoyable stay.

The attached breach area is really cool, it's huge, and many different things to enjoy : a cabin, beach, grass, rocks, bonfires, stars. It was fun just waking around and exploring. However the bonfires were very crowded at night. Free coffee is nice though no free breakfast. We went to the attached restaurant for breakfast and it was amazing but also so much food we slipped lunch. I tried to go to the gym in the morning but it only opens at 9... So I watched the beautiful sunrise instead.

LOVE the Aesop products in the room!!! a few downside during my stay were: the few times i went to the front desk, the "out of office" sign was up each time. i wanted to rent a bike to bike around the town, no one was around to assist. i waited about 10-15m each time. they have a fire pit that was on the entire time. i heard they provide s'more kits, but we were not provided with any. there isnt really any pet relief area on site. also, all units do not have AC, only fans. i had no service while i was there. i literally was on SOS. i actually loved it. don't worry, there is wifi avail! i would def book white water again!
