Failed to deliver what they promised. I was told the would bring the shelf to level with in 4 inches for free and any thing beyond that I would need to pay a fee. The shed was installed out of level and not a work from the installers. They also failed to place the shed squarely in the yard! The shed sits about 6 degrees out of square. There are also many gap where I can see outside that should have been filled with caulk. They also drilled through the floor boards cracking them. I called about the leveling issue three times so far and have yet to hear back from anyone. read more

I had dreamed of a beautiful garden shed but it appears like a nice garage with cheap windows and doors for roughly $11,000.00 This is just the business office. They have caller ID and the chances of your call being answered is 0 to none :/. If you purchase through tuff shed, you will deal with this office. The scheduler is quite nice but I believe due to their changes within their management team, The IL franchise is quite disorganized and not really dependable when you're spending $1000's on customized sheds. I don't know where to begin. My salesman Eric Hupp in Lisle has been really great but there are some forewarnings for you if your costs surpassed $10k on the shed. Do your pricing research. I specifically asked for French doors that pull out (both doors) and they took the liberty of charging almost $1100 for the cheapest $300 doors that they could get at Menards (master craft brand. Their cheapest at $300) and included a $7 door knob and it looks cheap and feels cheap. I should've asked for customized windows that were larger, They too look very cheap/plastic and out of place but you can google other tuffshed photos (Clearly not built in IL) where you can see how they should look if you're not looking for a standard storage system. There are ways to make them look more fancy and I had assumed that is why I was paying the extra $5500 but mine are not attractive (AT ALL). They are standard garage after thoughts and they cheapest product that they can use that will hold up long enough for you to not call for a repair. .... We paid $1600 for lap siding that should've looked like our house shingle style (we have a victorian) I'm assuming that it would've taken longer so the installers just threw it up like a garage. This was supposed to be a customized beautiful shed that opens up into my garden. It now looks nice and big but cheap if that makes sense. Our salesman made a visit to our house a couple of times and understood that we wanted it to look like our house. The installers are not paid to care. My house is only a few feet away, you would've thought that the installers would've connected the two looks but as I said, they probably would've had to put more time in it than they wanted to (but it still cost me $1600..le sigh).. Make sure your concrete is done correctly. They came out twice.. 1 time they allowed me to be free of the reschedule fee of $175, the second time it was still not leveled and although I tipped the installers almost $300.. one of them was upset and told me that he's going to make sure that I pay $275 rescheduling fee (and I did). They threw all of the material on my driveway so we were inconvenienced with parking for an additional 2 weeks. They killed my grass during installation day.. Bottom line, this is a great way to go to customize your shed but if you want something other than a cheap look with cheap trim and cheap products (doors, windows, trim) I would request better trim and pay a little extra and DO NOT allow them to purchase your things. They will up-charge you by 200% and you will not get what you had requested (Ie.. Cheap Menard Doors where only 1 door open, the other uses a latch and you must grab it to swing it open. just C.H.E.A.P) Since we had quite a few cheap products installed, we will probably have to change the windows and molding etc when $$ allows. This was an expensive job. I don't know if It would've been just better to use a builder or if it was still ok to go through tuff shed. read more

Stay away. If I could choose 0 star I would. Totally unprofessional people, awful experience. We had our shed installed and had ordered and paid for he anchors, as its required where we live. When they installed, the two guys had no idea they had to anchor the shed so didn't do it. Also, they didn't respect our design, had no clue where to put the window etc. It's been almost three weeks and our shed is still not anchored, we won't pass the inspection from the county. So, you order and pay full amount for something, you don't get it and then nobody seems to care a bit about your problem. These guys were amazing.. the plan did not start off as expected.. the truck arrived with the shed but it was the wrong dimensions by no fault of Tuff Shed.. I spoke to two of their customer service people and they were able to come up with a very quick solution.. they dropped off the pieces of the shed that they could start building and quickly manufactured the other two wall so I could still have it installed the same day.. The two installers were polite courteous and respectful to my property. They cleaned up thoroughly before leaving.. I researched many companies before I purchased the shed.. this was to be a she shed for my daughter. Visited tough shed and worked with Bill Hein. Very nice. Put a deposit down on a display shed, but was unable to have the unit installed. Bill sent email back to us confirming cancellation and said the return of monies was 5 days out. That was 7 weeks ago. Since Bill is not responding to emails and I do not have my check - I am posting this in Yelp for others to consider before visiting/entering into agreements with this business. Of course, this review will change to three stars when I get my check. Tough Shed, the ball is in your court. Update to my review...moving from one star to two. After multiple calls to office in Des Plaines and tweeting directly to Tuff Shed, finally got a check - 9 weeks post cancellation. Doubt we will do business again. read more

Bought my shed from Home Depot in Delafield, WI. I had a great experience buying the shed from HD and was promptly contacted by Yoselin from Tuff Sheds. She walked me through the process for getting the shed and even took the time to go over some additional options which I added on. I needed to get building permits pulled and the site prepared with a compacted gravel pad. During the time it took me, Yoselin followed up every other week to check on my progress. Once I had my site prepared, I called Yoselin back and she set me up with an installation date three weeks out. The building crew came and installed the shed in a single day. They were courteous, clean, and did an excellent job. I am exceptionally happy with the entire process. After reading a lot of reviews, I think a lot of people's problems come from a lack of preparation. Tuff Shed's materials clearly state what is needed for the site preparation. I found contacting Tuff Shed and there communication and customer service well above average. I was really impressed with them top to bottom. read more

Tuff Shed built me a shed on 7/20/15 and it failed the City inspection on 7/23/15. It failed the inspection because Tuff Shed built the shed larger than my concrete pad and then they used wood shims, placed vertically, to balance it. What makes this experience even more painful than the $2,489.82 that I spent is, Tuff Shed won't return my calls! I feel like the "woman" who keeps calling the guy who is clearly not interested in her. Tuff Shed... I don't want to date you. I just want you to pick up your lousy shed!!! Our new shed was installed on 9.11.2020. Things seemed to be going well, until they let me know that they were finished with the roof. I reached out to customer service immediately to let them know that the wrong color (bright red, not brown) had been installed. On 9.15.2020, I received a response stating that the manager would be in touch with me. I reached out to Tuff Shed via phone this afternoon to confirm receipt of my email, as well as to schedule for the second coat of paint, per the direction of the crew that was here for installation on Friday, and confirm that there would be additional wood to be delivered. The rep that I spoke with could not have been more annoyed that I was calling. We just dropped $3k on a shed - you'd think customer service would represent their company with integrity or, at the very least, would be a little more courteous and understanding of customer concerns. Although disappointed, the goal of my call was to get this sorted out, and not to be reprimanded by a rep that did not want to give me the time of day before I could even explain the issue. I explained that whether it was the wrong color completely or just defective material, that the color we ordered was brown, and not the bright red that we received. She reminded me that "we chose the Autumn Brown". I told her that I understood that that was the color we ordered, but that was not the color that we received, and that I hope to get this sorted out today and fixed at the same time as having the second coat of paint applied. At this point, she sounded angry with me, but assured me that she would pass this along to her manager. I told her that I would be happy to speak with the manager directly, if he or she was currently available. She told me that the reason she said that she was going to pass this along was because "the manager is not in his office". I thanked her and asked if I could have the manger's name and direct contact so that I am prepared for the call. She would not give this information to me and, instead, transferred me to an automated system for an "Oscar Smith", and left a voicemail for him. My advice to Tuff Shed - provide proper and regular customer service training for your representatives because what I experienced today was awful and completely uncalled for. I could have gone into the call being upset, but I didn't because I fully understand that this is not the fault of the rep that I spoke with. There was no reason for me to be treated this way and am thankful, yet disturbed, that my husband's call was received so differently. The professional in me cannot help but question what is going on in that office to make this person so angry. As I wait patiently for Oscar's call, I am hopeful that he will be prompt, pleasant and professional and that my roof will be corrected, the second coat of paint scheduled/applied, and the touch up kit and additional wooden trim pieces to be delivered. read more

Called sales dept spoke to John who said he was sending an escalated email. Still no response. Posted on tuffshed Facebook page. They told me to send email which I did back on October 9th. I'm mostly pleased with the shed itself. The construction is solid and the shed is attractive enough. My complaint is with customer service. The deal was Tuff Shed would apply one coat of paint and I (the customer) would apply the second coat with Tuff Shed supplied paint, brush, and rollers. Seemed reasonable to me but they failed to deliver the paint kit with the shed. I mentioned this to customer service and I was told they would send it then next time their installers are in my area, in mid-November, nearly 4 weeks after the installation. Normally this would be okay except this time of year there is very little opportunity to paint outside this due to weather conditions. So I have laid out an additional $75.00 for the supplies because Tuff Shed doesn't care enough about their customers to correct over-sites in a timely manner. I have never experienced anything like this -- the saleswoman (who seemed nice at first) abandoned the project once she received payment. she never returned calls or emails. They failed at every step of the process, right down the installation when they canceled appointments and painted it the wrong color. Find any other company -- not this one. read more

I ordered my shed about 6mo ago, it was installed a week ago (my choice) and they used to have this person Elizabeth Rodriguez that was excellent and called me weekly on updates. They fired her and replaced her with a useless incompetent suzanna esquival that does not answer phone calls or return voicemail over a 2 week period calling every day after the installers forgot to install vents. We all know you pay a little more because, $8k in my case, you are supposed to get get better service with Hone Depots backing from this reputable company but when you have customer service like suzanna you go from an A1 Lexus dealership to a Jaguar customer service experience I.e. no customer service. On the plus side, Melissa Preusker is excellent but this one rotten tomato sours the whole experience and you may as well get a shed from Menards. read more

8/16/2017: Al and crew came out to correct all my issues. So thank you Tuff Shed for making everything correct now. I 8/11/2017:Had shed installed by Home Depot/Tuff Shed on 8/2/2017. Everything went as expected until install time and noticed that the front of shed doesnt match design specs. Spoke with Curt P. on phone and he assured me someone will correct it the following week. Well it is the end of the following week and thus far all my calls go to voicemail. Emails response from Stephanie E. from Home Depot assures me Curt will correct the problem. I will update the review as things progress but for now this is where it is. It has potential to be a great shed, but not there yet. Also had bad rain storms next day and shed stayed bone-dry, so that is a huge credit to the installers/tuff shed. Will also do a YouTube video in future to hopefully show a beautiful completed project. NOTE: Having this changed for us is very important as we have a special needs child who we need to make sure we keep eye on in the yard at all times. This shed was designed to allow for that. UPDATE: Tough Shed scheduled to come out 8/16 to correct the problem. Will update on final result then. read more

I am writing a review for the service I received by Tuff Shed in the Western North Carolina region. My wife and I purchased competitors 2-story shed that Tuff Shed took over as existing inventory (which is why I am not posting a picture). Initially, Tuff Shed dropped the ball in a major way! After months of escalating within Tuff Shed and Home Depot the people involved initially involved the hold up of my installation are no longer part of Tuff Shed. The Tuff Shed area manager took over my project. He was more than knowledgeable, professional and courteous. He ensured the proper logistic was put in place to complete my project. The crew that was sent out to complete the install was awesome! I truly can't say enough about the installation crew. The experience after the initial hiccup was awesome and I would totally purchase another shed from Tuff Shed! read more

They were not prepared to handle the job as paid for and getting a hold of anyone in customer service was impossible. Once they had our money, we were dead to them. Admittedly, Tuff Shed was difficult to work with in the beginning. Ordered a shed and mistake after mistake was made where it was supposed to take one day to build the shed ended up taking approximately a month over a series of several days however they made things right by accepting my upgrades when asked. To me, my biggest issue with Tuff Shed was the amount of miscommunication which ultimately was the reason for issues I had. The mistakes they made was bringing the wrong size shed on installation day, having the wrong size window cut out, and having the window at the wrong height. While I did request to have some money back they instead offer upgrades which were increasing my window size and adding a steel ramp. In the end, since the shed craftsmanship is very good and they were willing to work with me that showed their commitment to customer satisfaction I would recommend using this company to others. All the headaches are worth it after looking at my finished product. Thanks Tuff Shed. read more

Worst experience in a long time. They never painted the shed. 30 phone calls, and 6 months have gone by. They missed 4 scheduled appointments and will no call even. I missed a day of work on one of those missed calls. Installer also put 30+ unnecessary exposed screws in the shed. I know they contract the worst of the worst but at least take the screws out that miss the mark. That took 3 months just to get someone to look at the shed. I promise you, that even if they get your shed right, there's absolutely NO warranty at all. They can't even paint the shed within 6 months of purchase. They will exhaust at you no end. I could not image a warranty issue, this is just a simple I paid for paint please finish the job. read more

Home Depot uses TuffShed as their Contractor if you buy a Shed from HomeDepot. We purchased this Shed from HomeDepot 2 years ago. I got a call from TuffShed indicating that someone from their company will stop by to inspect our land in our backyard before their construction crew arrives for Final installation. They have to make sure that the land is Flat enought to install. Our Backyard has decent amount of Slope where the Shed was to be placed. Although promised, no one ever came to inspect our backyard and they send the Truck with the Construction crew. Upon arriving to our house they said that they cannot put the Shed because the Land was not prepared, meaning they have to put 4 concrete posts on which the Shed would be installed. I was so mad at them, i called TuffShed right away and talked to them about their Non-Professionalism. If they're professionals then they should have told me upfront that i've to install the posts. I paid to Home Depot thinking that i'm in good hands and some professionals will come and install the Shed. Tuffshed said that they will have to charge me $200 because their crew was there and the land was not prepared despite their mistake of not inspecting the land prior to construction date. How can TuffShed call themselves Professional Contractors?? Their construction crew left without installing the Shed. I had to call someone else to dig the posts and pay them $300!! on top of $2000 that i paid HomeDepot. If you're going to buy SHED from HomeDepot, make sure you know who you're dealing with. read more

They have unbelievably poor service... I ordered a shed in November 2015, they installed it rather quickly but because of the weather could not install the caulking and final paint coat. So all the nails are exposed (100's) and some areas of the wood are as well. This should not have been a big deal because they say as soon as weather warms they will schedule the caulk and final coat. Fast forward to 9 months later, 150+ nice weather days, multiple calls to Franklin Park production staff, inquiries on website (chat and email) and calls to local sales office and still no follow-up from Tuff Shed to schedule. I paid a huge premium to have a Tuff Shed and the service definitely does not reflect the premium cost paid. Given that I have inquired (email and chat) on the website (corporate) and local office, I have to imagine this lack of professionalism is not limited to the Franklin Park office but the company in general. It is a shame because the shed is otherwise well built, but I could not possibly recommend anyone buying from them based on their lack of service (follow-up and job completion). I cannot see them ever performing warranty work if they cannot even schedule a final coat of paint. Go with a local shed builder and you will get much better response and pay considerably less. Note - I see a similar review that mirrors my exact issue with getting the final paint coat installed. It is apparently a consistent problem. read more
