The Fenceworks people are absolutely amazing. First and foremost. Their attention to detail, their zeal to educate you on what's best for you and your property is amazingly refreshing and it spans the entire company whether your speaking with Jake or your chatting with Bob their installer, it's absolute white glove service through and through. Now that I got how awesome these people are, I just have to say that we had a Goaliath Ignite basketball hoop for 4 years and we played on it every week. From the start it had a lot of shake to it that would luckily go away after the rim 'settled in'. However, because my son and I play on it weekly with plenty of hour long sessions, the wear and tear started to become very visible. From rust spots, to the net itself not 'wanting to give our ball back' every time it went into the hoop. We also noticed a forward lean on the rim and as my son got older... So did his friends! So safety started to become a concern of mine now that he was having hoop sessions with friends and I didn't want anything to happen to anybody on our watch. So naturally, we were looking to upgrade which led us to the awesome people at FENCEWORKS. They went over step by step how the process was going to go and it was as easy as pick a rim, and they handled the rest. When it came to buying from Dick's Sporting goods... That was not the case. I had to open a Julie ticket on my own, find an installer while having big heavy boxes sitting around waiting for all of that to be taken care of. Fence Works does all of that for you and they even removed my old rim........ ALL ON THE SAME DAY! Can't recommend them enough not just for basketball hoops but if you're looking to buy a play set for your young family or even setting up an awesome fence around your property... Their white glove professional approach to every conversation and moments to educate you is sure to make you feel confident in making these investments into your home or property. Very disappointing experience -- twice promised estimates that never arrived I contacted this company initially to get an estimate to replace two loose posts on my post-and-rail fence. A sales representative named Tom came out, but I never received the estimate. I checked my spam folder as well, and it was never sent. A few weeks later, a large tree fell in my yard and damaged three fences, including portions belonging to two of my neighbors. Because we all have dogs, getting the fences repaired promptly was important. Despite my previous experience, I gave this company another chance because this was now a much larger job, probably in the $4,000-$5,000 range. I waited a week for Tom to come back and assess the damage. He told me he would send the estimate the next morning. Once again, no estimate ever arrived. I understand that contractors get busy, but twice having someone come to my property, promise an estimate, and then fail to send it is unacceptable. If the company didn't want the work or was too busy to take it on, I would have much preferred to be told that upfront. Instead, I wasted valuable time waiting for an estimate while my neighbors and I were unable to safely let our dogs into our yards. Based on my experience, I would not recommend this company if you need a contractor who reliably follows through on commitments. read more

Second time working with Fenceworks. Full new cedar fence today for my back yard. This is a family operation, some say they are but aren't. This one is. From estimate (Sandy) to installation team (Lucas) everything went smoothly. Installation team communicated with me well as you will find things as you open up the old fence and visit places on your property you have never visited quite so up close and personal. We coordinated and I did much landscaping overnight after the first day's work with demo and post installation. It is a great time to do it while the fence is gone. They demoed, and installed over two days. Cleanup was spotless, other than the usual unavoidable area where the fence goes up my backyard looks like they'd never been here except for the brand new fence which lightens up the whole area. I will add I got a bunch of estimates and they were not high or low so I believe a very fair price. They did a dozen fence posts for me years back allowing me to get this fence to the end of its life. I can't say enough wonderful things about this third-generation family business. I found the company through Google and was pleasantly surprised that the very first time I called (before 9am) my call was answered by a live person. Jake, the Owner, and I spoke for about 20 minutes and set up an appointment for him to come out and measure our lawn in order to suggest the best playset for our space. Then we went to the showroom and played on the playsets. We purchased a Swing Kingdom playset. I am so glad that Jake suggested this type of playset for us specifically. I am terribly afraid of spiders and insects and with this playset I can hose it off and not worry about having to do maintenance to preserve the wood. Also, my son loves to play with his bubble machine and spray bottle in the castle part of the playset and the vinyl can withstand all of that play! I also love that I can climb all over the playset at my adult weight because the structure is commercial grade. I get to spend quality time with my son in a safe and fun environment. Terrible dishonest company. They lack basic knowledge of the products they sell. Because they were clueless about how the play sets work our installation was deemed unsafe by the installer. Not only did they charge us to fix their mistake, we later found out they had marked up the work to fix it to make even more money for themselves. They have good products but are dishonest greedy people. Here we are on 11/21 and despite my calling and emailing several times, while I was able to finally receive a quote, the phantom "Vince" project manager has still not contacted me despite at least 3 promises to do so. If you are looking for a new fence, Fenceworks is an option. If you are looking for a new fence AND a chance to have someone cuss at your neighbors, you've hit the jackpot. Preface: We used to live in Chicago. Alley use and common courtesy is well known to us. The Fenceworks contractor shows up, and blocks access to two garages in the alley: the home at which the work is to be done, and our home. Contractor could easily have parked in such a manner as to not block anybody's access to their garage. However, why do that? I approach said contractor to get access to my garage as a vehicle has to get in, and another out. Contractor tells me to f*ck off, calls me an *sshole and makes up some hogwash regarding what he can and cannot do with his vehicle, trailer and equipment in the alley. Community police officer comes out, and corrects contractor's erroneous views. I call Fenceworks to share my woes. The lady who answers is quite unhappy about the way the contractor foreman acted, and asks me to leave a message for the operations manager. I leave a message and my number. No return call. I call again the next day. Same pleasant lady answers, takes down more details, and later informs me the president of Fenceworks will call me. Would have been nice if they actually did. read more

We're just about 20 degrees away from backyard weather!! It's so close I can (almost_ feel the sun. Come next month I plan on spending a lot of time in our backyard and think the kids will be thrilled to be out there too thank to their brand new play set. When we decided to replace the play set in our backyard I asked a bunch of people where the got their play sets. And 95% of them mentioned the guy on 41. I imagined some random guy selling play sets along 41, but when I pulled up I realized they've got quite the operation going on here. I was immediately attracted to their gorgeous custom redwood play sets, but when I learned the pricing asked Lisa, the lovely saleswoman, to take me to the other side where the more affordable play sets lived. Lisa explained more than I'll ever need to know about play set materials and I opted for one of the cedar pre-packaged versions. From there Lisa handed me a huge catalog and I got to choose my play set. I chose the "horizon" that has all the basics (swings, ladders, rock climbing wall, slide, etc) that would keep the kids occupied for many years, but not more exciting than the play sets at the nearby parks. I do want to actually leave the house this summer! They are having a big sale thru April 15th, which made the horizon more affordable than comparable play sets at The Great Escape* and other research I did online. Guy on 41 does seem to charge more for installation ($650!) than competitors, but the total price wasn't crazy due to the current sale. The installer will also take down our current play set for $200, which is the same price my landscaper gave me. The more expensive part of the whole process was the curb I hit with my car while leaving - park far away from the curbs! When I called to officially place the order Lisa was off, but her colleague Lindsey was super helpful. She even walked me thru the process of getting a permit from the village of glencoe. For those of you also in Glencoe there isn't a cost for the permit, but you can not get a play set installed without one. The horizon was in stock and they've already called to ask if they can install in this week! I asked them to postpone a few weeks since we're a) still 20 degrees away from backyard time and b) Glencoe spring cleaning is the first week of May and I'd like to leave the old play set outside (you're welcome neighbors for not leaving it outside an entire month earlier). Dean came by and was super easy to work with, crew came by a few days later and removed about 200 feet of solid six foot and picket wooden fence.
