First time here. I was wondering why the sign looked so familiar--they have another location in Scottsdale. Walked in and was greeted and told he would be with me soon. He took the tab of two people leaving to process. Then he told me to follow him so when he went to the front door, I actually started to follow him and thought maybe there was a hidden area I missed when I walked in. Nope, he was just grabbing menu and utensils lol. Seated me at a booth next to the window. There are outlets on the wall above the table so you can charge your electronics without crawling underneath the table. I really liked that option! They have happy hour 3-6pm. I chose the candy margarita (so pretty and sweet), fried green beans (OMG, get this as it is delicious!), riblets (okay, I dunno why, but in my mind I was picturing like the McRibs or miniature ribs, but that is not what that is. It was dry, with a great sauce. I would not recommend it), and then nachos without cheese and sour cream (obviously without the cheese not as awesome, but doable). It seemed the guy was the only worker so he was host, bartender, and server. It also seemed like he was interviewing and/or training someone during this time as he would sit at the bar and talk to a girl. Definitely juggling a lot of things so I understand he may have been frustrated, but his attitude took away from the dining experience. He made a comment to a couple that came in who sat where it was dirty saying someone had just left so I thought you'd sit where it wasn't dirty, and then cleaned up. Like don't make a customer feel bad for finding a seat at the bar. I also heard him complain or explain to another customer that people didn't know what they wanted to order and he didn't like waiting around while they were making up their mind. Maybe he knew these people and was joking, but it didn't seem that way. I liked the space and ambiance of this place. Bathroom only had two stalls, but everything was relatively clean and they had two different hand soap pumps to choose from. Plenty of parking as it is in a shopping plaza. Not sure I can recommend it. Definitely the candy drink and fried green beans for sure. And price was great as drink was $9 and food was $7 each. Just not sure if I'd come back or want to bring people here due to the service. read more

Valued. I'm typically not in the east valley but I did a lot of research to find a "healthy" restaurant. Everything else is bar/pub type food. This place delivered with lots of excellent choices. It was very spacious inside and not too crowded. Parking was a little complicated because people from the gym across the street take up the closer spots. So I had to walk a little further on crutches. I had the Thai Shrimp Lettuce Wraps and they were excellent! Very valued choice for some delicious and nutritious food! Looking forward to trying the Phoenix location. read more

I came back to Tryst, but was unhappy with my order. The spring rolls were dry and not fresh. The roasted cauliflower wasn't that great either. Very strong metallic after taste and the buffalo sauce didn't have much heat or tang to it like most Buffalo sauces. I would stay away from these 2 menu items. read more

Nice atmosphere, good music, and decent food. Service can surely be improved as wait staff isn't really attentive. There was only 1 person walking around and checking on tables. Waited long for glasses of water, which had gunk in them. Hummus was really cold and some parts were frozen so hoping for better room temp or fresh hummus next time, but well tasted good. The tamales were delicious, the side of cabbage was unnecessary as it was raw with no dressing. Fish n chips was the worst. Fish and fries both were soggy and my husband didn't even eat half of it. I live close to this place however this will probably not be a family favorite. The food was good yet if the service was better it would have made our first visit a lot more desirable. Our server wasn't very welcoming since the initial greeting. We sat at our table for about 10 mins before he came to introduce himself. Which I didn't even hear his name ! He continued to forget items and was unapologetic about it. Once we got our food we still didn't have any silverware to eat with which should have been given within the first few minutes of being seated. We went there today for Sunday brunch to celebrate my Dad's birthday. It's so nice to have a safe place for my family members allergic to gluten to eat. The food and service were both great! The only reason for not giving it 5 stars was the music. They had a DJ playing loud music the entire time. I mean LOUD ... like it was some kind of nightclub. This was a dude with a stand in the middle of the room, headphones, spinning records... A full on DJ. It was so odd. I don't understand the thought behind that at all. I just wanted to eat some eggs and hang out with my fam. It was not enjoyable for any of us and we had a hard time hearing each other. I felt bad for some of the older people there because I could tell they couldn't hear their friends either. We'll try it again because, like I said, everything else was great. The waiter, Jaron, was impatient with taking my order. I finally said, "Go do something else if it's that important" and he said, "I have to answer the phone." He had no problem talking to a male employee (if he was an employee) in street clothes that was going behind the screened area and laughing. Finally, I was there for thirty-five minutes and never once did the waiter refill my water. I had no other beverage but water. Been here a few times. Middle of the road nice brunch place. You can bring Fido, which is good. Can be loud. Which is okay. The food is above average, so are the prices. Service is okay, regulars get all the attention. I am not one. Hard to park sometimes. Because of so many businesses and do few spaces. I am trying to sample every menu item to see if I'm nuts over anything. Not yet, still trying. It's a pleasant brunch spot to get tanked and bring Fido. That's my opinion. read more

The food was simply amazing so I can't hold the service against it. When the restaurant is slow and you still can't get service you know it's bad. However, the food was absolutely amazing. I had the tamales (plant based) and they were probably one of the best I ever had. I'm finding it easier and easier to maintain a Plant based lifestyle with options like this. Absolutely delightful dining experience was had at Tryst Cafe. The hostess was so welcoming and friendly. It's so nice to see people who seem to enjoy their work and have pride in service. The waiter was just as pleasant. We were checked on frequently. You could tell the staff knows the menu and feels confident in the quality of food they're serving. It's a great decor with an indoor/outdoor, bright, natural feel. So, as soon as you walk in you have great staff and ambience. The menu just adds to the pleasantness. My salad was huge. I was full but couldn't stop eating. The grilled chicken is flavorful and cooked to perfection. The fruit was fresh and tasty. The nuts are to die for. My friend enjoyed his food, as well. The sauce for the wraps was scrumptious. I can't wait to come back. It's great to have healthy food that actually tastes good. My vegan friend from Tucson made a great choice for his visit. Great service, but very overpriced for what it was. Expected more of a personalized vibe even though it's apparently a chain. The food was ok, slightly overcooked. All butter and jam in packets. Interestingly, the apparent manager came around and checked on all of the tables around me at least twice during my visit, but never stopped by mine once (maybe because I was traveling on business and was alone? I don't know. Odd, though.). All in all, felt like a slightly-better decorated meal from Denny's. Cost $20ish for simple egg breakfast & coffee with no extras. I don't recommend it. read more

Atmosphere - As a party of 5, we were kinda given a room to ourselves.  They have a weird wall that sits at the end of the dining area which does not attach to any other walls.  There was space for two tables back there.  So I did not get to take in much of the place other than entering and leaving. Food Drink - My quest for local beers continues, today I had a sour that did not make you pucker up.  Helton's Boysenberry Sour, a fruity drink with a little tang. Dinner - I had a burger last night, but their burger menu looks great.  My son had the sweet potato veggie burger which was open faced, which he enjoyed.  I had the Pork Adobo Tacos.  Do not let the habanero cream scare you as there was not much of a punch with it.  I wish there was a little more heat, but it did let the pork shine.  The pork was clearly the star and these tacos were packed with the pork.  Three massive tacos made for a very filling meal. Service - I dinged them for the first host.  I arrived right behind another party.  Not a word was spoken to me or anyone else in my party. Then he took care of the first party and never returned.  Finally a hostess showed up.  She was very pleasant and sat us immediately.  Our waitress was great, made suggestions and was on point with them. We happened on this after a walk at round Veteran's Oasis Park. We choose it because they are dog friendly. Awesome patio with options of tables or couch seating. We had three different things on the menu...Summer Rolls, Bowl with Jackfruit, and Strawberry Custard French Toast. All three dishes were top notch! The rolls were so fresh and full of veggies finely diced and came with a great sweet chili sauce. The bowl had jackfruit and quinoa and veggies and the most delicious seasonings. And the French toast was decadent and filled with a yummy custard. Also had a strawberry banana smoothie which you could tell was fresh made...had bits of green from the strawberry stems. One of new favorite places! Fresh, with lots of vegan and veggie options and they can also work with gluten free. Such a yummy place to eat! read more

We have been here multiple times and have been very satisfied with everything we've eaten here. If you enjoy a good bison burger they have a great one here. The service was good, the food was very okay. I believe our server was Johnny and he was super friendly and helpful and did a great job, so I'd say that's the biggest thing to rave about here. Also, they had a rose kombucha on tap which made me happy, and overall have a healthy and diverse menu. With that said neither my dad really loved our meals. I had the Asian jackfruit quinoa bowl and it was just okay - not particularly strong in flavor, and I'm usually a jackfruit fan. My dad actively didn't like his fish and chips (although I did steal a few fries and those were good, the complaint was more on the fish). Maybe it was just not a good night? I'm not saying I wouldn't ever come back because it wasn't so terrible that I wouldn't give it another try, it just wasn't really impressive. Props to the good service though! read more

Came here with a friend after we did a small photo shoot. This place is awesome, they have vegan options, super fresh and clean eats. Everyone was so nice and the server was so helpful. They have cbd options to add to your drinks which is great for me Ilove places that have this option. After we had our meal the server insisted we try the gluten free brownie... i'm not a gluten free kind of person but wow this brownie was delicious. This has to be one of the worst dining experiences I've had in my life. First off, I waited at the hostess stand for at least 5 minutes before anybody even bothered to come see if I wanted to be seated. Upon sitting, our waitress gave us terrible service. I don't know if it was because I had asked for a gluten free meal, (I have celiac) and I bothered her by that... or because she woke up in a bad mood but she barely looked at us in the face or gave us the time of day. Her responses were curt and uncaring. On top of that, the food was not great at all and the coffee was so bitter that we could barely drink it (and my husband typically drinks black coffee.) Our waitress came back once for a drive by asking if we were good (again not giving us the time of day) and we eventually had to ask the bus guy to get our check for us. Tried Tryst for brunch for the first time over the weekend. The family enjoyed the food and atmosphere although the portions could be a bit bigger and the fruits a bit fresher. The kids meals were good but for the price could be a bit bigger portions. But I get it, to serve organic food price and portions has to be compromised. I did however enjoy the bottomless bellinis. Please Hire More Staff!! I have tried this place 3 or 4 times now with the same experience - there is NO STAFF! I have never seen more than one server working the entire restaurant. A bus boy also worked as a hostess, seating people at tables. I was in earlier this week, and the only one server was also the bartender. He took my drink order, never delivered drinks. I did get my food, but when I asked for dressing, it never came. The outdoor patio was filthy! The food is terribly overpriced. $17 for a burger and fries? It's not that good. This restaurant has SO much potential...but you've got to hire some staff, and a better Manager. read more
