My favorite local food truck! Jasmine is amazing and all the workers were so kind! Definitely recommend this hands down to anyone visiting the island! My personal favorite was the kalbi while my friends really loved their shrimp (that sauce is BANGER) definitely worth trying all their food. There is seating around the area and the umbrellas provides shade which is perfect for the weather. The ambiance is ideal for family style.
I literally just got back to the hotel after eating and had to write this review immediately! I found this little spot on both Yelp and Google, and after seeing all the amazing reviews, I knew I had to give it a try. It's located in a little food truck lot tucked away in the corner, and I'm so glad we stopped by! Jasmine was SO sweet and welcoming and truly made our experience. She wrote Bible verses on our boxes, which honestly made me love this spot 10x more. We ordered the chicken, kalbi, and shrimp, and I absolutely LOVED the kalbi! Everything was delicious, but the kalbi definitely stood out to me. This is officially at the top of my list for food spots in Hawaii. Would give it a 10 star if I could.
WHY I WENT HERE: - dinner - walking distance from my hotel THE LOOK (FROM THE OUTSIDE): - located in the Food truck park off Kalakaua Ave and Niu St - surrounded by other stationary food trucks; communal seating available THE MENU: - boxes WHAT I ORDERED: - Lychee Lemon Crusher - Trydis Mix - Lilikoi Smoked Meat and Lemon Pepper Chicken Wings THE TASTE: - Lychee Lemon Crusher was super refreshing and the right about of tartness and sweetness - lilikoi smoked meat was bbq pork - it was good - lemon pepper chicken wings could have been more lemony for my personal taste - first time seeing the mac salad in spaghetti form; unfortunately I wasn't able to eat the mac salad because there was some sort of fish or seafood in it, which I'm allergic to CUSTOMER SERVICE: - very warm and welcoming - apologetic to me because my order took a while, which I didn't mind
After checking-off all the restaurants on our list, we finally hit the food trucks, up the road, for some of the best lunch plates offered in the Waikiki Walking Distance, which is a real thing, I'm deciding right now. Really, really tasty stuff. Fun staff. And it came with some bible reference on my Styrofoam container, SO NOW I'M SAVED Y'ALL!
Very very good. Tons of meat...chicken, galbi (beef), and smoked meat (pork), macaroni salad was close to Mac n cheese so very interesting. Tasty, nevertheless. The rice was good with the sauce from the meat. The smoked pork was my fave. The galbi was tasty but hard to chew. The chicken was good but thick. Everything really had delicious flavor. It was a good experience for Hawaii bbq I think.
We decided to try this (lol) food truck by our hotel on a whim and it was soooo delicious. Tbh, I wasn't expecting too much since we were in a touristy area. We got the plate of creamy garlic shrimp and lilikoi smoked meat! The creamy garlic sauce was super rich and fragrant! The smoked meat was very tender and juicy, with a hint of sweetness. We also were convinced on getting their island crusher. I believe we got peach mango and they add some li hing mui in it. We too were surprised when it rang up as $12 but the portion was decently large AND might I add super delicious and different than other drinks offered around. Service was super kind and efficient. We would stop by often during our stay and it seems like they sell out of things pretty often, so be sure to not get there too late!! Overall, I am very pleased with our spontaneous decision to eat at Trydis BBQ!
We were walking around the area and happened on a group of food trucks. We're always excited to explore local food trucks and as soon as we passed the Trydis truck and saw the menu we knew we wanted to try it. The owner was inside the truck and told us more about the food and made some recommendations. We ended up ordering the lilikoi smoked meat and grabbed one of their drinks as well. The portions were generous and the lilikoi smoked meat came with mac salad and rice. Their mac salad is make with spaghetti instead of elbows so it was different than what I'm used to but seasoned really well. The meat was flavorful and juicy and the fruit juice was refreshing. If you get a chance to try their food I'd highly recommend it.
Just go here for their Creamy Garlic Shrimp! You will be very happy. This food truck is about a half mile away from the bustling Waikiki area but very much worth the walk. The owners are so incredibly kind and sweet. As a preggo lady, I was craving some garlic shrimp and they did NOT disappoint. The portion was generous and the flavor was amazing. There was more rice under the shrimp. It was indeed very creamy and saucy -- just the way I like it. The Mac salad was perfectly seasoned and paired well with the rice and shrimp. There is plenty of seating in the food truck area with a bunch of other trucks serving other foods and drinks. Stop reading the reviews and just go eat here!!!
Hands down the best food truck I've had in Hawaii! The food was incredible--honestly even better than Giovanni's Shrimp Truck, which says a lot. Every bite was packed with flavor, fresh, and cooked perfectly. Their homemade fruit juice was one of my favorite drinks I've had on the island--so fresh and refreshing. No place in Hawaii beat this food truck for me. If you're visiting, this is a must-stop! I got the short ribs and garlic shrimp -ask for extra sauce of the shrimp ,my next dish was smoked meat and was cooked to perfection
We had mix reviews on this place but still give it 4 stars. The Kalbi, Smoked Meat and Chicken were excellent. However their shrimp was not the best we've had on the island - and was difficult to peel. The Mac salad was different but still tasty. Slightly overpriced as well.
The service here is very good. I was given a sample of some of the meats they have to decide what I wanted to order. All were good. The food truck is located with a few others and a nice spot in Waikīkī. The Kalbi ribs and chicken were so good. Marinated well and cooked to perfection. Nice and juicy. The Mac salad is different. Has tuna in it; I thought it was a good version of it and ate it all. Definitely a place to check out for Hawaiian food.
What we got: - the three meats deal: llikoi smoked meat, creamy garlic shrimp, and bbq chicken. Wow the portion was huge and this was around $35 ish? From what i remember. The shrimp was so creamy and garlicky and i liked that they kept the head on. The chicken was so tender and flavorful. The smoked meat was also tender (but a little too sweet for my liking.) if i had to pick one id go with the bbq chicken.. or the shrimp (its so hard to pick because both were delicious) ! The mac salad was also unique. The guy was so helpful and nice, and we could tell he cared about his food. He gave good vibes. I definitely felt like i gained 5 pounds after eating this but it was worth it.
Really sweet couple running the truck. Great service. The food was fresh tasting but could've used a bit more seasoning. Wasn't bad though. The truck is found in one of the little food truck parks near Waikiki beach. A few picnic tables with umbrella covering located in the middle for seating. I didn't realize there was no pricing listed until we got a total bill of $72 for our two trays and our huge tea and lemonade. It was a lot of food though and of course, Waikiki prices. read more

This was our first meal on Oahu because it was conveniently located in front of our bnb and let me tell you... I haven't stopped thinking about the lilikoi smoked meat!!! I genuinely regret not getting it again before we left. We waited about 10 minutes for our food but it was worth it. You can tell how fresh it was and it was cooked to perfection! read more

You absolutely HAVE to check out Trydis BBQ if you're ever in Oahu ! Seriously, the best BBQ I've ever had. We stumbled upon it on our way back to the hotel and it completely made our trip. This food truck was out in Kahalu'u . The owners are the sweetest people - so welcoming and happy to chat. They gave us some awesome recommendations, and everything we ordered was incredible. We devoured kalbi ribs, shrimp, chicken, and pork - every single plate was amazing! Seriously, we cleaned our plates! Next time we're in Oahu, Trydis is definitely a MUST-EAT. I can't wait to Trydis again!!!!!!! The customer service was amazing, we got to talk to the cook, owner, cashier and everyone was beyond friendly, knowledge, warm and engaging! We worn between the lemon pepper wings and the smoked meat, she suggested both! Great combination with the rice and homemade Mac salad (tuna) The lemon pepper seasoning was perfect, not overwhelming Lemon flavor. Great service, we walked up and aunty immediately offered a lemon peel snack which is featured in one of their drinks $36 for a two choice plate with ribeye and lilikoi smoke meat but my partner and I shared so came out to be pretty reasonable. The portion size was pretty good for both proteins, not just six measly slices of steak but an actual heap that filled both of us despite sharing. At first I wasn't a fan of the stringy spaghetti like Mac salad and thought it tasted fishy, but then I realized that was intentional and warmed up to it. Taste like they add tuna or something (idk I'm not a chef LOL sorry) Definitely not your average Mac salad but at least it's something unique! Convenient hearty option in a food truck lot with lots of picnic table seating surrounding. They had Pepsi products which is a no for me but theres lots of other trucks with boba/coke products/other drink options Nextdoor so it was easy to grab a beverage elsewhere. Wait time was moderate and steak a bit overdone from temp request but overall both options were sooooo yummy and I'd definitely come back again! Mahalo! read more

Their customer service was also phenomenal. They are a family based restaurant and really care for their customers. My boyfriend and I come here probably once a week. All of the plates are delicious, our favorites are the BBQ chicken, Ribeye steak, and Kabli. The portions are super big, you can share a plate or save some for leftovers. I especially love the tuna mac salad, it's my favorite on island by far. They use different noodles, a different type of seasoning, it actually has flavor! Plus, the workers are so kind. We've never had a bad experience! read more

You get twice as much as you pay for in both hospitality and food/drink. The people who work here make you feel just as terrific as the food does!!!! Avg $18-25 for a box you can hardly close. The music, environment and goodies are some of the best we had on this island- we came back 3 days in a row!!!! Highly recommend any and all options. I really wanted to like this place from what I saw and the delicious smell that was coming out the grill. Looks were everything and looked amazing as well. I decided to go with the Short RIB & Chicken. As soon as I took the first bite of the chicken, I already knew looks were deceiving. Chicken felt not as tender and for a minute felt it maybe wasn't cooked right, but it looked fully cooked. It was just too tough for Chicken. As far as the short rib.. it was too fatty and honesty didn't get full, even though it was a heavy plate. I was disappointed since it was a pricey plate and didn't fulfill my craving and hunger. read more

Spot on Hawaiian BBQ food and I adore that one can choose a mixed meat plate. I like the variety so I like this option. Nicely flavored. I wished that they actually have Mac salad as advertised versus corn. I ordered because they are the only food trucks that have Mac salad on their menu. The lack of the mac salad, doesn't make it fully Hawaiian food vibes. Solid food truck nonetheless. read more

I had some of the best BBQ ever in Waikiki and I'm still thinking about it. I love that it's run by locals--you can really feel the heart and pride they put into everything. The Uncles n Auntys were so welcoming, and the food was absolutely amazing. Great flavors, great atmosphere, and just an all-around awesome experience. I'll definitely be back! (Since I was messaged by the owner after completing my review, I wanted to add...by no means am I saying someone cooking in a sports bra is unsanitary. Only that it's unprofessional for customers to see an employee like that.) As soon as I saw someone cooking BBQ in a sports bra? I should have walked away. Review for Honolulu Xmas Parade set up: 1) The menu font is too small. 2) The menu does not specify that the mix plate comes with shrimp and 1 meat of your choice. All it says is "Mix Plate", so I figured it was a pre-set mix plate. 3) I ordered 2 plates: 1 steak and shrimp. 1 mix plate (shrimp & short ribs "kalbi"). I saw her write my order down correctly and she repeated it to me correctly. They didn't give a receipt of payment or an order number, just took down a name. I told my other half, we have 2 plates, listen for your name. As I went to 3 different tents to buy food. 4) My other half got the plates and said "lucky you told me it was 2 plates, she almost only gave me 1". Her response, "oh 2 plates, ok I going check". Why call out the order as if its complete, if it's not? 5) We get the plates, come home open the plates and realize they got our order wrong. They gave us 1 mix plate (shrimp & kalbi) BUT 1 steak and CHICKEN. So you charge me for shrimp, but give me chicken instead? 6) I open the plate and theres about 3 tablespoons of corn! (See picture) The food was edible, but nothing special, kalbi was tough, chicken was steamed, no BBQ char insight, barely any corn. No system in place which makes it seem pretty unprofessional. Incorrect order, incorrectly charged, plain jane food. Overall, I do not recommend. read more

Between the hospitality, the quality of the meat, food and service. This was one of the best places to eat on the island. Being able to chat with the owner about the stand chatting with the local. About community and being able to bring thanks to jesus, we're all enjoying good food.It was a blessing. I hope to see these guys at the foodie fest in Las Vegas soon. read more

My husband and I stopped at their food truck a few miles south of Kualoa Ranch and it was one of the best Hawaiian means we've ever had. The garlic shrimp were so flavorful, ribeye so tender and the best tasting short ribs! Sole was a sweetheart and had the jams playing while making our food. We also ordered lilikoi lemonade...OMG, delicious! This place is a must stop when leaving Kualoa Ranch or they have another truck in Waikiki. read more
