This was a great experience with the guys. They were informative and made my friends and I feel safe while getting to take my friends out for their first dive. They work with you to accommodate any skill level and make sure everyone leaves with a fun experience. They use the bigger tanks so we went out with 3000 psi and got some extra time on the dive as most places only use the 2000 psi tanks. Our experience at scuba diving is not satisfactory. I went to this place back in 2018 with a group of 8 friends, It was a fantastic experience.. Jeff was our instructor and took us each one of them at a time into the ocean to the depth at our comfortable level.. He ensured that we had a great experience in watching under water fishes and etc. We also got good pictures and videos under the water .With this awesome experience in my mind, I went back to the same place with another group of friends on Nov 14 2020 at Keywest and this time the service was not at all satisfactory. The instructor told he'll take all of us at a time but we didn't agree and as want to go 1:1 to have better experience he took 2 people at a time and did not pay much attention to give us the tour under the water. When we asked him to take to the next depth level, he bluntly said 'he does not have time'. We came all the way from NewYork to Miami just for Scuba diving and got disappointed very much. We also did not get proper pictures and videos . With this experience, I would not recommend this place at all. Doing Snorkling is lot better than doing Scuba with 'Try Scuba Diving.com'. Traveling from Wisconsin, our group was excited about our scuba diving experience and booked our reservation months in advance. On the day of the dive, we drove 30 minutes to get to the pickup location and arrived 15 minutes prior as we were instructed (12:45 pm). When we didn't see anyone from Try Scuba at the location we called to make sure we were in the right place (went to voicemail). Our scheduled time came and went and still nothing so we called again. Using the same number we sent a text and finally heard back only to be advised that our dive was canceled due to illness with the crew. While we can understand a dive being canceled for that reason we can not understand why no one notified us in advance. We felt that was very unprofessional and inconsiderate of our time. They did provide a full refund, but would not rebook or recommend them. read more

I can't reschedule the tour I don't have the time to travel to Key West and after I explaind that to the woman who answer the phone that day (by the way she told me that the refund were made days after but that never happened). I don't want it the tour. I was calling every single day trying to contact some manager or somebody in charge because the staff didn't answer my phone calls or my emails anymore. Our first experience scuba diving was great! Our instructor, Trigger, was so patient, informative and very knowledgeable. He gave us time to practice and get used to the using the gear before actually going down. During the actual dive, he checked in every few seconds with us regularly to make sure we were doing okay. He worked at our pace and always checked with us to see if we were comfortable going down deeper into the water. We saw schools of fish, jelly fish and a sea turtle! The water isn't too clear so you have to swim closer to the fish if you want to get a good look at them. But overall, very good first experience scuba diving. Definitely due to our great instructor, Trigger! I hope the next time we go, our instructor is as patient and knowledgeable as him! Also, side note: make sure you read your email thoroughly! The location of the dive site has changed and is not the one that google has! Use the link provided in the confirmation email! Great great experience. I highly recommend this place for a first time diver. I found this place from Groupon when I was planning for "things to do" around Key West. The booking was easy and the person who answer the phone is very friendly and professional. The transportation to get there (from Key West) is not that hard. Uber and Lyft is not available around the area so I have to call a taxi cab (305) 296 6666. It was around $23 and 15 minutes ride from Mallory Square, Key West to this place. When I arrived there, I have to fill up around 3 pages of paperworks with very simple questionnaire and liability waiver. I've never dive or even snorkel. This was my very first time. The instructor was very friendly and he guided us through out the whole journey. It also comes with complimentary GoPro video. You just have to install a GoPro capture app on your phone and they will send the video directly to you after the dive. While the other places requires you to be certified, this place doesn't require PADI diving certification. There is also a lunch spot and a gun place right next to the building. The price is very very affordable and it was super fun. I highly recommend this place for a first time diver. read more

Where to start?? Fine, lemme list it out from beginning. I made a reservation for this scuba diving for 3 ppl including me at 3 PM. 1. We were asked to visit this place by 2:30. As we were very eager, we reached the location by 2:10( this place is very hard to find because there is no private office/ no board to confirm this is Try Scuba diving location). 2. We waited till 3:45 and finally we saw the 12PM(slot boat which supposed to come by 2:45 give or take) coming to the dock. 3. Finished the paper work by 4PM and boarded the boat. 4. Here comes this guy. I forgot his name(instructor/trainer and your scuba diving partner) who is very rude, careless and disrespectful. 5. This scuba diving is new(first time thing) to us. I mean 3 of us. 6. This guy, first asked my friend to do first diving with him. My 1st friend tried going into water for few times but couldn't because come-on we are doing for the first time in big ocean without prior swimming experience. He was very frustated and asked me (the next guy) to do scuba thing. Then my ride begins..i finally went underneath the water for 3rd time and all i see is 5lobsters and 3-4 (make it 5) fishes and i was in water like 7 mins. And here comes my another friend. This is his turn now..Same instructor..he tried 3 times with my friend and my friend couldn't go inside the water because this is his first time too..LOL..this instructor is like i am done..i can't do again. Even if you go with a bunch of friends..only one goes inside the water. Its like one after the other. So for 10mins of scuba diving (inculdng 3 ppl's time) we spent 450$ and 4hrs of time(including waiting). Worst experience ever..Ooh yeah..i forgot to mention..They mentioned we will get complimentary videos and photos..Great joke ever..All we got is two videos(ofcourse the worst) and it is correct ZERO photos. So guys, dnt fall for prices. Its okay to spend another 50$ to have a good experience rather than having what we had! read more

I was very disappointed with the length of the trip. Our booking reservation said from 1pm - 4pm, but we were back at the dock before 2:30. Captain Anton was great, but the dive master was substantially late -- we had to pick him up at his other job and drop him back off there -- leading me to think our trip was so rushed because he was double booked. We only had 20 minutes in the water, and given how shallowly we were diving, we should have been able to stay under much longer. We also weren't able to get the videos we were promised, despite the fact that we had downloaded the app as instructed.** I've been diving a fair amount before (I'm certified, but my husband isn't) and my husband has tried other discover scuba - type dives before, and this definitely did not meet our expectations. Unlike another reviewer, we had no trouble using Uber to get there and back. **After originally posting the review, the guys did text us a few still frame pics from the Go Pro camera. read more

I was a little unsure about it all but they stayed in contact with email and text alerts ahead of time. We meet with the instructor and it was just the two of us and the instructor so it was very personable. He was very patient and friendly and only did what we where comfortable with. I scuba dived on 05/31/2016. In comparison to other scuba diving places, they seemed amateur-ish and here's why, a) Upon arrival, there were no sign boards indicating the location of this place. When we got to know their exact location, they did not have a proper place to seat their guests while they were preparing the boat. b) We were told to arrive at the dive location at 10:30 am and we did reach on time. But sadly, they hadn't even started their day. It took them an hour to get things moving. We were told to sit on a table, which was dirty with bird poop and had left over cigarette buds on it. So we decided to sit by the stairs of someone else's home (which we felt was inappropriate, but did not really have a choice). After waiting for over an hour, our diver was ready to take us for our first ever scuba dive. The training was fine, where they explained the basics of a dive. c) The most disappointing aspect was that our dive lasted only 20-25 mins, whereas their website indicated it lasts for 2.5 hours. d) Our dive location was only 15-20 ft deep, making it seem like we were in a deep swimming pool. Never really felt we were 'scuba diving' e) They claim that Go-Pro videos will be taken during your dive, but let me tell you that, these videos are merely 10 seconds snippets of your dive. Most of the other dive centers, take a video of your complete dive including pre-dive and post-dive. f) Once the dive was complete, the diver insisted multiple times on being tipped. It was more like he was forcibly demanding a tip. (For a 20 min dive???? ). That's not how it works.. g) When we asked for the Go-Pro videos to be transferred onto our phones, they insisted that the office would mail the videos to us at a later point in time. Now the sad part is, its coming close to a month and after multiple reminders (atleast 5), we haven't received or seen our dive videos. h) The washrooms to change and shower were filthy and dirty. It was like nobody had cleaned them in ages. But we had no choice but to use them, as we were heading to another destination. i) Lastly, the diver again began demanding a tip for the dive and even followed us to our car. After a point in time, it began to seem like we dived for free and hadn't paid them. To summarize, we left disappointed, not cherishing our first dive. My advice to everyone, I understand this place is inexpensive for a dive, but hey, you would not want to go through what we did. So might as well pay a little more and choose an experienced diving company. read more

The guides were AMAZING and this was a great first experience! Even though the weather was bad and the currents disturbed the sand and clouded some of the view, we were still able to learn to scuba dive, see multiple lobsters and swim with fishes! My girlfriend and I decided to give Dive Key West a chance on our recent trip to key west 5/23/17 and I can tell you it was the best decision ever! The instructors were this super cool guys really laid back. DJ (instructor) was very informative on all the pre dive safety procedures and made us feel comfortable to dive. On our dive DJ is at all time with you making sure everything is fine and also recording on his GoPro your diving experience which is loaded to your phone later on complementary. Had a great time with this 2 dudes and highly recommend them if you thinking on trying out scuba diving. read more

I saw the one bad review but still decided to take a chance and I'm glad I did. I had the most amazing experience ever. I called them around noon last Saturday and give the phone girl my info. I booked a 4 pm same day appointment, and then she told me confirmation will be texted to me, should use Stock Island instead of Key West for my GPS. Sure enough, less than 5 min later the text confirmation was received with the driving directions and map location. I drive down to the location and to be honest, the area looked a little shady. There was a Try Scuba Diving sign on the side of the road just before the Hogfish Bar. The office was closed so I went to the marina and a couple of guys in their late 20s greeted us. We got onto their boat and filled out the paperwork, roughly 10 min after our arrival (4:15pm) we took off. I had my watch with me so I'm keeping a close look on the time. 15 min ride (4:30pm) to the shallow water where we were taught how to use our gear. Neither my friend nor I had any experience with scuba diving before so it took us good 20 min (4:50pm) to get used to breathing underwater. First timers be careful, the seawater was really really salty. We got back onto the boat, and 10 min later (5:05pm) we arrived at our destination. The day was amazingly sunny, the water was super clear. There were schools of fish swim around us. We saw a couple of rock lobsters, puffer fish, even sea urchins, but no starfish. We were down under the water for about an hour, it was a few min past 6pm we were told we should head back. I was exhausted and a bit sea sick not I didn't felt it till after I got back onto the back on my way back. I was so tired I forgot all about the go pro videos. One of the guys had to remind me to get my phone out and he transferred the videos over via the go pro app. Unfortunately we didn't get to wear the camera, rather the guys had it and they were filming us. The total footage added up to be 4 min, the videos were a bunch of 10 - 25 second shots of us in water. Last but not least, not even once did the guys asked for tips. There was a sign on the boat suggested that tipping would be appreciated and that was it. After the experience like this one of course I tipped them. They do provide bathroom and showers, it was not dirty like the bad review suggested but it was like the bathroom and showers at an old college dorm. It works for a quick rinse to get the sea water. Hope this review helps, I would totally come back if I'm bringing more friends that haven't dive before. Also check out the jerk shack down the road, they make the best jerk chicken. Took my husband as a part of his birthday celebration. This was the first dive for both of us. Steve, Cj, Chase and the rest of the crew were very experienced, knowledgeable and patient. They gave detailed instructions and made us feel very comfortable before and during the dive. The dive location was awesome we were able to see a large variety of marine life lobster, crabs, beautiful parrot fish, blow fish, eel, box fish and so much more. This was a great experience. We went to Key West for vacation a couple of weeks ago & did the "try scuba" option since we are not certified and it was great. I was nervous to try it & almost decided not to do it, but Chad did a great job of helping me feel comfortable. Once I finally did it, I had a great experience. We saw lots of lobsters and some fish...best of all I survived and now I'm actually considering getting certified! They take their time with each person so you have to be patient while others are doing their dive, but it's really no problem because you can hang out in the water & snorkel while you wait. They live at the marina and were specific about their location. No need for a brick and mortar location - what would be the point? Let us dive for as long as our tanks lasted! good- 1) it's great for 1st time divers who have no idea of scuba diving. 2) it's also great for those who are short on time and don't want to take those extensive training 3) you get 3 short 10 second videos of your scuba dive 4) great for someone who has never been in water. They literally hold on to you and control your air pressure and just drag you around everywhere. you are just breathing under water. everything else, they take care of. bad - 1) although they say 45 mins of dive when you call them. it's actually only 12-15 mins of an actual dive. which they only tell you AFTER you are already on the boat. 2) if you know how to swim, and have whole day. this is not for you. you should spend the extra 30-40 bucks and do the actual certification course. 3) the people who work there are not very responsive. which is understandable. they have 3 guys who go on the boat and also handle the phone calls. and i went on holiday weekend so i can't fault them much. verdict- If this was the actual 45 mins scuba dive as they told me on phone. i'd have loved it. IMO, it's not worth spending $135 bucks to do 15 mins dive. But because of the fact, i didnt have whole day to train, and also was doing it for the 1st time, its good enough to get the experience. if you have time and know how to swim, don't do this one. if you don't know how to swim go with these guys. read more
