You know, in rough times, where people have to spend money they may not really have, or shouldn't spend because of a massive recession and 12% CA unemployment rate, is it tooooooooo much to ask for friendly service, and a smile?
So, check this out. I've been to this place before. The first time was about a month after they opened. I had their cheesyburger and fries plus a diet coke. It was average, meh, nothing to write home about.
I decide to give this place a 2nd try...so today at lunch, I'm craving a burger, and this place is right near where my paycheck comes from. I go in at Noonish, and the place is quiet. Nobody was in line, so I'm thinking...YES, get in, get out fast! NOT!
There were two cashiers, neither one bothered to say hello, or smile. They looked at me like I was bothering them. HELLO WHY YOU WORKING THE REGISTER then???
I order a basic cheeseburger and fries. Tally came up to $8.73, not including grilled onions which cost an extra $.50! What's up with that??? You give free onions, but you can't grill them for a few seconds for free? Shizakoff!
I stand and wait, and wait, and wait some more for my to go order. I look around at all the worker bees looking like they just came from a friggin funeral or something.
You know, the owners usually set the tone for cool working atmosphere, and I can tell that today was a lousy one. The owner not only looked friggin grumpy, but it seemed like he came from a double funeral.
OK, so you are probably annoyed with my review by now about the grumpy workerbees...who knows, maybe the owners didn't give Turkey Day off to their peeps, or they are still suffering from their tryptophan comas!
Well, the reason I harped on their attitude so much is because their attitudes projected on to their burgers! Sad Sad Sad!
Where's the beef man??? I don't eat a burger for the bun, I eat one for a harmonious balance between beef, bun, lettuce, tomato, onions, special sauce! I don't care that the bun was locally baked, what counts is the flavor and texture. This bun was weird...not smooth soft, not really tasty, a little rough on the upper mouth palette. I think a sesame bun from Safeway would have been better! The beef was completely overshadowed by the massive bun! AND, I think they forgot the garlic in the mayo! Don't you guys try this stuff before you put it on since you make a point of noting it on your menu?
The fries are super crispy, whether hot or cold...not a good indicator of unprocessed, wholesome goodness. Not to mention the strange MSG flavor.
The burger isn't worth more than $3.45, and the fries $1.50. Just cuz you guys are the only high-brow burger joint downtown, doesn't mean you can serve up some good stuff.
While I'm at it, maybe y'all need to focus more on upping your overall burger quality and customer service before harping about your creds from those "other" top restaurants you guys USED to work at.
Sorry, just not impressed with creds being thrown out, and the food is NOT up to par.
For a few bucks more, Ozumo's kobe burger down the street is 10x more tasty than your basic burger, and they offer sweet potato fries that knock the MSG off your processed junk. Come to think of it, Luka's is way better too! And, don't get me started on Pican's jalepeno burger! read more
