The pull rope broke on my lawn mower. I bought one from this place a few days ago. Took it out of the package at the counter match it up and make sure it was the correct part. At that time the counter person asked to throw away the box and my old part. Thinking I did not need it, I agreed. Paid and left. It rained so I did not get a chance to install it till a week later. Put it on and found the tabs that engage the flywheel do not open. Took it back and they denied selling it to me. I didn't want a refund, just wanted to exchange it for one that works. They don't stand behind the garbage they sell. Paid $79 plus tax cause I was in a bind. Not a big deal, but I definitely will never return. Bad business! read more

This True Value Hardware store offers knife, scissor and blade sharpening services! I have several old chef-quality Henckels' knives that I got shortly after I got married. They were so dull that I rarely used them. I had a hard time finding anyplace that would sharpen knives until I noticed on a recent visit here that a wide range of blade-sharpening services is offered here. I brought in two of the three knives I needed sharpened to see if it was worth the cost. Price for kitchen knives is a flat fee (currently $2) plus a set amount per inch of blade to be sharpened. Knives are picked up on Wednesday and returned one week later. Since I never used them because they were so dull, I didn't mind waiting the week. Cost to sharpen a 3" paring knife and a 5" utility knife totaled roughly $14. Wow! They are like brand new. My 8" carving knife is going in next! read more

I've had a LOT of run ins with this location because I thought the guys were knowledgeable about what are you doing. Come to find out they Do NOT have a clue on repairs. The BIGGEST Excuse, "you put in bad gas." Come to find out I was getting charged for a run around. Even when I took I back to redo, after it wasn't fixed correctly again... "you put in bad gas." I decided instead of getting into a Pissing match, just go down the street. NOT Only was he more knowledgeable, he knew about the product and was aware of issues with specific products all ready. I have been going to this location and before that the location on Louetta for many years. I find them to be very helpful and courteous even to "older ladies" like me. Always take my gardening tools to them each year for cleaning and sharpening. I highly recommend them. Went to purchase a part that no other store had. Was promised the part was exactly the same as previous, and I even brought in the old part to verify. Even after inspecting the part and telling them this probably would not work... I was told "this is the only part in existence to replace it." Sure enough I get home and try to install the replacement part.. it's not the right part. As they do not let you return just any item I am stuck with a $160 mistake because of bad advice. The only place in Spring to go to find exactly what you're looking for, whether it is fasteners in oddball japanese thread patterns or toilet valve rebuild kits or high-test diy pest control supplies. I have been here before and found the owner to be extremely rude. However, True Value had Scott's Turf Builder on sale and I was in the neighborhood. What a mistake! First off they did not have the Turf Builder (they did have Bonus S). The owner (Nick I believe, he's a little cock-eyed) said they do not carry Turf Builder any longer, so I said maybe you should no longer advertise it then...Well that set him off! He told me he did not advertise it. I said this is a True Value right??? He proceeded to follow me out the door and said participating stores! He then told me to get F'd. I said how rude! He said what are you going to do? I said I would no longer shop here and tell everyone I could to do the same. I then said what are you going to do??? Kick my ass because you don't carry Turf Builder??? He then follows me to my car calling me all kinds of names. Is there a law against wanting Turf Builder?
