I am writing this to warn other homeowners about our experience with Lionel Lopez and Kyra Homes…read more We hired them for a bathroom remodel, and it was a complete disaster. Lionel talks a big game about being an expert in remodels but the "workmanship" was some of the worst I've ever seen. We dealt with crooked tiles, grout lines that were completely uneven, and a quartz countertop that wasn't level. Lionel tried to gaslight us at every complaint to say we were too demanding and to say the quartz is "naturally crooked". Lionel tried to "rework" things several times, but even the fixes were barely acceptable. It felt like they were learning as they went on our dime. The biggest issue was the hidden work. After they "finished", 2 out of 3 bathroom sinks leaked immediately (requiring rework). We were so concerned that we stopped the project before they could finish the shower and bathtub. It's a good thing we did because we had a licensed plumber come out to inspect everything, and they found a huge list of code violations. The waterproofing was so completely compromised that the shower pan and drain would have leaked into our walls, causing massive damage and mold. Their solution for all waterproofing was simply more silicone grout which is ridiculous. I am including pictures here of the work they thought was acceptable. Please note all the screws going through the waterproofing barrier, the dirt they used to fill in the space under the drain, lack of redguard, and the fact they didn't even take the plastic peel off the metal drain cover before caulking it directly to the tile. It's insane they thought that would seal water in a shower floor. I'm also including pics of the crooked quartz countertop, the crooked and uneven tile, and ugly attempt at bead board. Keep in mind, this is all stuff that Lionel says was good and blames us for being too demanding about. I wish I could add more but I am limited by character count here. We eventually had to hire a real professional company to come in, tear out every single thing Kyra Homes did, and start over from scratch to make it safe and up to code. This was an incredibly stressful and expensive lesson. We are currently in the process of suing Lionel and Kyra Homes to get money back because we feel scammed. Please, stay away from Lionel and Kyra Homes at all costs!

The carpet is a commodity but John gave very honest pricing. What really matters are the installers. If you carefully review the other stores you see their contracted installers are who disappoint. Not at Lone Star. John's installers have been with him for 15 years so they are really good. The installers are who really matter on your finished product. I also needed float and his crew was great. They got the entire upstairs done in a day. They move all your furniture and move it back at no extra cost. Which is really great!

He has absolutely no idea what he is doing!…read morePut in cabinets and just screwed in screws and prayed he hit a stud, no screws below or at top outside of cabinets where they should be screwed in. Didn't attach cabinets to each other for stability. Put in a 20 gal hot water heater instead of 30, hooked 110 to 220 and said it worked great! How could he know? When we turned it on it made a loud popping noise, had to replace hot water heater. The Sheetrock work behind water heater leaves so much to be desired as you can see in the pictures. The plumbing under sink would be hilarious if my 84 year old mother's money had not been used. There was a 2-1/4 pipe put into a 2-1/2" pipe with a rubber gasket inside the larger pipe to hold it together. Leaked like a sieve. Drilled about 4 1-1/2" holes above microwave in cabinet, not sure what that was about. This guy has cost us more money, we hired a competent contractor that knows what he's doing. He just shook his head on some of this guys screw ups. Insulation was a joke, he charged us $800 for labor and material. He bought 5 bags of insulation ($55-Home Depot) didn't even get blower, just spread it around, you can see what a great job he did in the pictures.
