Technician schedule @1-5 PM 08/25/23 Settings at the time upper setting thirty-seven actual forty-seven, lower 03 actual nineteen reading. 8/25/23 GE/Service Unit not working. Cleaned out coil and said that should fix it. 8/26/23 Unit stopped working Second time. After the repair. Was operating for 35 hours. Called Tru Blue Warranty called the second time. Tru Blue ordered a new compressor with other parts. Arrived at my hours over 5 days and three different boxes, with no invoice to let me know all the parts were here. 8/27/23 GE/Same guy came out to change all the parts that were here, and it was running for about 30 hours and stopped. GE Claim# 070054629 9/15/23 12:30 PM Called Tru Blue Warranty Unit not working and is tripping off the GFI. Reset GFI and hour later ripped the GFI a second time. 9/18/23 talked to Fergusion and advised them of the performance of their warranty company, they were going to investigate it. So far, no response. 9/19/23 The technician, not from GE, but was scheduled by Tru Blue, showed up at 11:30 AM, worked for an hour and said he had checked everything and left at 12:30PM. 2:00 PM unit set of GFI again. 9/19/23 Called Tru Blue Warranty (Josh) On Hold 45 minutes. They are sending out another technician from GE this time on 9/25/23. Asked to talk to a supervisor and ended call. The supervisor has not returned my call. 9/25/23 10:30 AM GE, new guy came out. And called GE and unit is non repairable. I should get a call withing 24 to 48 hours. 9/27/23 8:00 AM Called True blue again and their computer system was down, and they are checking on it. And then received an email stating it would take 5 days to review. I still don't have a working refrigerator. read more

Every time I need to make a claim with this company, I have to send my original invoice back to them before setting up a service for repair! Never will I use this warranty company again! This company has sent someone out on my washer before, now they have no paperwork that they were here! Strange enough, I have the paperwork from when they were here!! read more

Not sure what happened to my review, but these guys are out of business, so perhaps it doesn't matter. The stove they "fixed" finally failed, not because of the part they put in but due to a hot wire relay they failed to diagnosis as the real cause of the oven problem. Asking them to be familiar with all the different brands of stoves may be unrealistic, but now the part is NLA and the oven in my 10K stove is DEAD. Thanks for trying and costing me $300, but solving the real problem would have been much better. read more

Honestly, my experience with Mike was better than I ever expected. I emailed the company last night, had an appointment made this morning and the repair finished within an hour this afternoon. He walked me through the problems I was having with my washer so that I understood what was wrong and his repair charge was the lowest I'd been quoted. He was extremely friendly, professional and patient with my questions. I will continue to call Mike for any other appliance issues going forward! I also would like to note - someone below suggested the good reviews for Mike were planted. Out of 37 reviews, he has two bad reviews, one okay review, and 34 great reviews. I had a dishwasher that refused to drain and was thinking of getting a new one as the one I had was pretty old. Then, the clothes washer broke and I figured I needed to get someone out quickly. When I called True Blue, Mike was able to come out the next day and quoted me a very reasonable call out charge. Mike quoted me an actual appointment time to be there, not some vague "afternoon" or "morning" time frame that most technicians make you live with and ruin your day. He was right on time and called 15 minutes before he got there to make sure I was there. When he got here, he figured out the dishwasher issue almost instantly and gave me some tips on how to run it more efficiently and how to keep it running longer with cleaner dishes. Then he attacked my fancy-shmancy computerized clothes washer which had stubbornly given me nasty error messages. He figured out the problem and was diligent in determining whether there was an actual issue or whether the computer was just being cranky. When he found the actual issue, we discussed the price of repair and he agreed with my assessment to chuck the washer entirely, as repairing these stupid machines is more trouble and money than they are worth. All he charged me for was the single diagnostic fee for all the time he spent with my two cranky machines. I was very impressed with his knowledge and experience with appliances, which he has repaired for what sounds like more than twenty years. He knows all the brands and said that he would be glad to give recommendations on machines I had in mind. Oh, and he likes dogs. Thanksgiving is saved! My oven's screen got scrambled in the last big rainstorm and had been blinking for a couple weeks and would not let me reset it or turn the oven on. Finally, the Monday before Thanksgiving, I called True-Blue to see if they could come out. The receptionist was really nice and professional and said they could send someone on Wednesday, the day before T-day. True-Blue called the day before they were scheduled to confirm and they were here early Wednesday. The fix was actually quite easy and one I could have done myself, but for $59.00 service call, I was happy to pay it and get some good advice (put single-outlet surge protectors on all your 'spensive appliances) and not have to call the dreaded LG customer service line. I have contacted them over the last 2 weeks trying to get someone to call me back regarding doing a config on my dryer that would allow the exhaust to come out the side rather than the back. I finally called someone else and they apparently don't work on Samsung's, so recommended this company. So I figured I'd try again. Left yet another message, and finally Amber calls back apologizing that there was no record of my first message a couple of weeks ago. So I give them a chance to redeem themselves and she says that Mike calls back in between appointments and that he will definitely call me back regarding this. Nope. Not only did he not respond then, I called YET AGAIN the very next day begging someone to simply respond in either direction -- Yes we can, or No, we're too busy for a new customer. There is a new repair guy in town and he's a keeper! Mike Cote is the owner and operator of this new business and he's serious about providing excellent service and thorough repairs Our Sub-Zero refrigerator was giving us some trouble and the repairman we normally use was MIA. I live in far South Austin, and I wasn't too pleased with some of the companies in my area. Mike's marketing pitch was a little different from all the others - I'm paraphrasing, but his site asked that we give him a chance to earn our trust. I liked that approach, so I gave him a call. 1) He asked me several questions over the phone to make certain that a service call was truly warranted. 2) He set an appointment to come out and actually showed up when he said he would. 3) He showed me everything that I needed to know about the cause of the problem and the steps necessary to correct it. 4) He is a really nice, friendly guy - and that is a factor also! His prices are extremely fair and very reasonable. I mentioned that my refrigerator was a Sub-Zero because they are notoriously expensive and sometimes chailenging to repair. Mike has over 20 years' experience with that brand as well as other high-end appliances. Whether you own one of these monster appliances or one of the many fine brands that aren't quite as expensive to repair, I highly recommend that you call Mike. read more

I have a front load washing machine that wasn't draining properly. I was able to open it up and check the trap myself, and sure enough, found a sock in the trap that was obstructing water flow. Feeling oh so proud of myself, I put the whole thing back together and started a load of laundry. Unfortunately, in solving one problem I had created another. Large quantities of water leaked out of the machine. I couldn't find the source of the problem and needed help. I called several appliance repair businesses and the only one that returned my call was True Blue. Mike came over in 20 minutes and quickly found the source of the problem. After diagnosing it, he gave me the option of fixing it myself (I would pay only the $59.95 service call) or paying him to fix it. I decided that I could do it myself and was happy to pay the service call (I think of it as tuition for a lesson in repair). Mike was friendly, professional, and fast. The only negative I have about my experience is that they were booked for several days in advance, so although I called on Monday, they weren't able to schedule me until Thursday. I could have tried a different company, but of the repair businesses which serviced Kyle, they had the best reviews, by FAR. Certainly, based on this visit, I can see how they earned such support. Repair services really should only have one or five star ratings. Because repairs are a binary service-right? It works, or it doesn't. Or at least, that's my take on it. True blue works. Mike came out quickly, assessed my dishwasher's problem, got the parts and came back promptly to fix it. As a dude who lives alone-this is a godsend. I don't know how I went months without my dishwasher. Maybe I'd say 4 stars if he were rude or something-but he was anything but. I had been having problems with my new dishwasher for a couple of months. After speaking with Sears, I was convinced that they would be incapable of helping me and were obviously trying to ensure that my problem would not be covered under a warranty. I decided to call a pro. I called Mike at 10am and he returned my call 10 minutes later. After he listened to my story, he said he could come over at 12:30. Mike called at 12:15 to say he was on time and then showed up at 12:24. I like him already. Mike patiently listened to the story about my dishwasher then took a look. He talked me through everything that he was doing. He took the time to educate me so that I could get the most out of my dishwasher. The good news was that my dishwasher was working perfectly well. The better news was that I just needed to make a few easy (and cheap) changes to get sparkling dishes. He made sure that I understood what I needed to do so I could succeed. He said "I want you to get the most out of the service call so you won't need to worry about this anymore." Well, I followed his directions and they worked perfectly. Thanks Mike. I called True-Blue because the water dispenser on the refrigerator door wouldn't shut off. The technician replaced a control panel and the water dispenser worked fine, but once the repair was made, the ice maker, which had been working perfectly, no longer made ice. I called True-Blue back out and was told I had a bad ice maker. Sorry buddy, just bad luck. I don't believe in coincidence. I think the earlier repair caused the ice machine to fail. The technician couldn't leave fast enough. I feel cheated. Cosmetically, the display on the water dispenser/broken ice maker is now curled around the edges. It was not ratty looking before True-Blue touched it. I have nothing positive to say about True-Blue Appliance Repair. I was better off with a dripping water dispenser. But True Blue is a really good option for you. Amber answers the phones there, and she's very friendly and helpful. She set up the appointment for me and even gave me a reminder call a couple of days before the scheduled visit. On all three occasions he was prompt and nothing but knowledgeable, professional and courteous, not to mention a friendly guy too. Yea right, beware of any service that gets reviews like this. I am lead to believe that these reviews must be planted because the service I received came no where near what is described in these other reviews. First the problem - My refrigerator was freezing everything from my milk to the veggies in the drawers. The Call - After finding the great reviews on yelp I contacted True-Blue and explained the above mentioned problem, they made the appointment and sent over the repairman/owner of this business pictured on this site. (Mike) The First appointment - I explained that my refrigerator was freezing to the receptionist that made my appointment. The day of the appointment I unplugged my fridge to thaw it out thinking this would help. (Side note don't do this with a modern refrigerator). The repairman shows up and says that because the refrigerator was turned off he couldn't properly diagnose the problem (might be helpful to let customer know what to and not to do when you make appointment). The repairman said he would need to come back to diagnose the problem (makes sense). The problem, was explained to him in detail but he said that he would still need to come back. The Second Appointment - The second appointment was made for a WEEK after the first because of his schedule. Well he comes out and looks at the fridge and states "your cooling system seems to be working fine". "Too fine," I tell him "everything in the fridge is freezing." (this was the problem I stated to his receptionist on the phone and again in person to his face when he came out the first time) He goes over the problem and then begins to tell me how much he hates these modern fridges because they are so complicated with multiple sensors. (It's your chosen line of work, I don't care if you think it sucks your being paid for your expertise not your opinion) and proceeds to get onto a help forum for repairman online. (I could have done this myself) He figures its one of the six sensors that has gone wrong, a really common problem with this model. (If its so common why the hell didn't you think that was the problem when I told you what was happening on the phone and again in person?) He has to order the part (why wouldn't you stock up on parts that are a common problem?) and come back in a couple days when the part is in. The Third Appointment - He comes installs ONE of SIX potential sensors that could have failed and leaves in twenty minutes telling me to keep an eye on it and let him know if the problem persists. (what? your not going to even stick around and see if it solves the problem) At this pont I try to explain to him that he has been out here three times already and hasn't seemed to fix the problem, and that from my position it looks like maybe its not the sensors but the thermostat that is misreading the sub zero temps in my fridge as 64° F. To me, it seems as though the thermostat is telling the computer that the fridge is way above the designated temp it is supposed to be at. Thus overcompensating and causing the fridge to turn into the freezer. He tells me that that is oversimplifying this process and just call him and let him know if the problem persists. The Fourth Appointment - After calling in upset that after two and a half weeks of living out of a fishing cooler and eating take out food that my problem hasn't been resolved by the expert repairmen of True-Blue, the owner/repairman has the audacity to tell me it was my fault for not properly describing the problem I had with my fridge, that it was my fault for buying a machine that is so complicated, that it was MY fault. After explaining to him that it is his F&*#$ng job to diagnos this not mine and that it was his ineptitude for not listening to the description of the problem the first two times he reluctantly came back out. I had to insist that he make sure he orders and receives a $400 thermostat (my assessment of what the problem was) before coming, this adds another four days to the wait. Lo and behold after installing the part I insisted on my refrigerator worked again. Lesson - If it looks too good to be true it probably is. Somehow this company has gamed the reviews on this site, because there is no way in hell this guy deserves these reviews. Aside from his ineptitude in diagnosing a problem in his chosen field, a customer should NEVER, NEVER, NEVER be told that its his fault for anything. Mike you suck and Ill never call you for a good godamn thing again. If it gave me the option to give your company no stars I would. read more

The scheduler called me back some days after I left a message. I guess they don't answer their phone or check messages over the weekend. But they were able to schedule same-day (Monday) which was very good. With a 5-hour arrival window, which was bad. I wasn't home during the repair. Tech (Brandon) arrived and closed himself in our little laundry room for 90 minutes or so. Much banging and clanging behind closed doors. He came out told a story and charged my roommate $180. Good news: The dryer was fixed. Bad news: It's a $280 dryer (Roper). I checked the invoice for reasons why anyone would want to spend almost $200 to repair an old appliance that could be replaced - new - for less than $300. There was no information on the invoice. I wanted to know: What was done? What is the name of the part that was replaced? What did TB pay for the part? What did TB charge me for the part? How much time was required to diagnose the problem? How much time was required to complete the repair? What's the tech's hourly rate? NONE of that was on the original email receipt from TB: it was just a receipt. So I requested an itemized invoice. It had more information: "Disassembled and troubleshot dryer, found bad thermal fuse. Quoted customer on completed job rate for repair. Replaced the thermal fuse. Reassembled unit and tested, all working properly." Which was good. This answered 2 of my 7 questions. But it included one error -- the bit about 'quoted the customer'. They didn't quote the customer. I'M THE CUSTOMER. I'm paying the bill. Nobody quoted me anything but the 'Howdy do' fee: the charge for showing up and saying hello. There were no additional numbers on the "itemized" invoice. I'm guessing the reason TB didn't want to tell me the cost breakdown is it would be embarrassing. The technician probably took 3 minutes to diagnose the problem, 5 minutes to change out the part, and another 5 mins to button it up. They don't want to furnish this level of detail because charging $100 for 13 minutes work would look outrageous. They don't want to tell me what they charge for the thermal fuse because their markup is, like, 1,100% (like the AC service company that charged me $250 for a startup capacitor, a component Home Depot sells for $12). Walmart sells dryer thermal fuses for $7.39, which means TB gets them for less. Clearly some of this is my fault. I failed to inform my roommate that she should actually watch everything the tech did, even photograph the insides of the dryer. (I thought I would be present.) I failed to inform TB that no repair exceeding half the dryer's replacement cost would be approved. read more

I have a crazy fridge which, I have now learned, has generated multiple internal water/ice problems for owners across the country. Brandon from True Blue came out, diagnosed a bad water valve, ordered it, and replaced it. That was the first level fix. Unfortunately, there was a lot more wrong than just the failing water valve. So, the bad valve issue directed us to other issues. The important thing to note is that Brandon suggested only the most basic fix first and did not suggest anything more expensive or complicated, as I had told him I had a limit on how much I wanted to spend on this older fridge. Brandon suggested some defrost measures and then, as only a very fair and decent repair expert and company would do, said that if these homeowner measures did not work, I could return the water valve for credit, since this initial - and, I must add, totally correct - first diagnosis did not solve the problem. Well, due to bad manufacturing standards and NOT due to anything this True Blue company did, I decided to not pursue a faulty fridge's repair, anymore. The fact that Brandon only tried to repair them first level problem, gave the homeowner suggestions for how to proceed, offered a refund of the initial problem part, and was totally friendly, efficient, and obviously knowledgeable, let me know I would be using this company from now on, for any future appliance repairs. Amber, in the business office, is just as friendly, efficient, and obviously totally dedicated to making her customer and client base happy. Austin, Texas, is filled with businesses that simply want to make a buck and don't seem to cater to an individual's or family's needs or busy schedules. True Blue seems to be bucking the trend and they set up appointments, call to confirm, and arrive on time. Just good business, hence, my 5-star, very pleased rating. read more

Kevin from True-Blue Appliance saved our sanity over a very difficult couple of weeks. A pipe to our washing machine had frozen/burst (needing plumbers, a different company) and the washing machine itself broke (error message and needed appliance repair). Kevin came in after the plumbers had reportedly fixed their end of it. He admittedly had a sticky situation to deal with: were the remaining issues from water access (like the machine code said, possibly implicating plumbers didn't finish the job) or just the machine, which didn't match the error code. This is what sets them apart: Kevin had actually left seemingly unable to help that code, and turned around, CAME BACK 15 minutes later with a brand-new idea, having thought about it all that time. Voila! His idea worked, saved us another useless plumbing call, and he even applied some of the one-time visit fee to a part that our machine needed and was ordered for the next visit installation. It's sort of like he out-smarted the code and the difficulties in a messy case. Additionally, our dryer is stacked on top of our washer in a tiny little closet, so the back of the washer can't be accessed unless both are pulled out. We also have shelfing system all around which should have been removed by us, but I didn't think of it. Fortunately, he was able to access it by skimming his body through and making it work. We really lucked out in getting Kevin. He was professional and courteous, and to be honest, must be really dedicated to his job and helping his customers to have gone above and beyond in every aspect of a tricky (and probably very annoying) job. Our machine works great and we couldn't be more thankful! So glad I called True-Blue and got Kevin! read more

Their technicians apparently just replace parts until it's fixed. Their technician came to my house and tried to turn on my broken washing machine. Looked up the model number for the unit and based his diagnosis on the most commonly replaced part. Did nothing else to determine what was really wrong with it. I am a service technician myself and would never call them again. I wouldn't recommend them to anyone either. read more

I would recommend Mike to anyone who needs an honest, fair and knowledgeable repair person. My frontloading washer refused to drain and trapped a load of work clothes inside. I was able to make a next day appt and Mike even called ahead to say he was on the way(early even!) He diagnosed the problem, ordered the part and returned as soon as it arrived to install it(appx 3 days). We did a test run and the washer seemed happy! Unfortunately, it started to leak as soon as I put clothes in it. Mike came back out the very next day to check on it and we discovered that the leak was in my drain pipe, not the washer. He didn't even charge me for coming back! I got the pipe fixed and no more problems. His fees are fair and reasonable and I will call him again if I have future issues with ANY of my appliances! read more

Mike is exceptionally helpful. I am really glad that I went with True-Blue after reading the reviews on Yelp. My GE dryer had been overheating and smelling funny, and my attempts to clean it out and try to fix it did not improve the situation, either. Mike was very honest about how much it would cost to repair it; because of the make and model of the dryer, the heating element is a different style that can be labor intensive to repair. He let me know that I could easily find another great dryer (Whirlpool being the top recommendation), used and less than five years old, on Craigslist that would be affordable and still have many years of life to it, plus easier and cheaper to repair should anything happen, or I might be able to find good deals on a new one since it's the holiday time of year. The honesty about cost was so refreshing, and I was also very thankful for his advice about purchasing as well as service fees. I totally recommend True-Blue to anyone who needs repairs. I have an old(10 year) Sub Zero that was not cooling well. I was afraid that the compressor was dying(read big bucks). Mike, quickly identified that the condenser coil was dirty and needed cleaning. Mike was done in 30 mins, and cost was only $140. Fridge is ice cold now. Would definitely recommend True Blue. read more

The experience began with a prompt return phone call from his scheduler, Amber, who was very courteous and professional. My fridge had gone out, and had been out for days by the time I realized it, so all of my frozen food was lost anyway. Although Mike couldn't come for more than 30 hours after our first conversation, at least he showed up right on time, had all the parts he needed with him, gave me excellent advice on my fridge, and the repair was priced very fairly. True Blue Appliance Repair sets the bar very high for service: clear, responsive communication courtesy of Amber (office manager extraordinaire) and professional, honest assessment and repair from Mike. Given the nature of the need--in my case, a broken disposal, a rusted gas stove burner, and an overachieving freezer--I braced myself for the awkward in-home service and inevitable sticker shock. I have now used True Blue three times for repairs on different appliances (washer, dryer, and refrigerator). All three times they have been quick to answer my call, get a technician scheduled, prompt at the appointment time and very professional in the repair. When it turned out my washer just needed the drain cleaned he didn't even charge me and just gave some quick maintenance advice. On the other two visits the pricing was more than fair (approx $150 each, including parts and labor). If I could give more than 5 stars, I would! Awesome customer service. I was having trouble finding anyone in Austin who would service our LG dryer, so I was very happy to see they handle imports. Called me back quickly and were flexible with appointment times. Daniel arrived early and was incredibly helpful. Turned out the breaker we thought the dryer was on was not actually the right one. Daniel found a second breaker box outside, flipped it back on, and voila! Fixed. They didn't even charge us since nothing was actually wrong with the dryer. True Blue is awesome! I have called them for two issues, fridge and washer. My fridge stopped cooling and they sent out Mike. He broke the news that the fridge needed to be replaced, but he didn't charge me for stopping by the house. Adam was sent out when my washer refused to drain. He pulled a clog from the pump one afternoon and left. Later when I tried to wash another load, I found that the washer still would not drain. He came back the next day to look at it, and even stuck around while I put the washer through a quick cycle to make sure it drained. These two went above & beyond their duties and I'm grateful.
