Bo is really exceptional, so easy to deal with. You make a call, he answers, you provide him information and in a few hours or by the next morning he is at your home. I contacted Access on a Sunday to trouble-shoot a "clicking" 4-yr old KitchenAid dishwasher. Technician Bo texted back, we set a visit for the next morning. Bo arrived on time, diagnosed the problem. Rather than a $500 job to replace the wash pump motor and pump (as the KitchenAid site had suggested), he found the problem to be an intermittent issue with the diverter valve, which he fixed by - believe it or not - powering down the valve's solenoid (I think). Problem fixed for the service visit plus $30, very cost-effective. Bo was great to work with, technically excellent, great people skills. Will definitely use again. read more

Bo is fantastic. We have relied on him for more than a decade and he has extended the life of, and repaired, an ancient model kelvinator refrigerator in the garage and older models of our bar sub-zero mini-fridge, whirlpool washer, kenmore dryer and jennaire stove top. He has also repaired our newer model kitchen refrigerator and the older model before that when the LG repair guy gave up, even though it was under warranty! Bo kept it going for several years after that. He is very reasonable and knowlegeable. My husband and I agree that if he can't fix it reasonably, then it is doubtful that anyone can. This is about our fridge: the owner of the company "Bo" provided wrong diagnosis and recommended extremely expensive but totally unnecessary repairs. Charged 200 bucks for recharging the freon but did not fix the problem, and refused to acknowledge his wrong diagnosis. Paid another company 45 bucks to take a look, who fixed the problem (freon overcharging combined with high summer temperature) in 10 minutes! I will definite avoid this dishonest/incompetent company for any future services. read more

It had been a very difficult week. My husband had open heart surgery and the day after he comes home from the hospital, our refrigerator/freezer will not get cold. Relying on the 5 star Yelp review, and frustrated a Sears technician couldn't be here the next day, I called Access. Bo answered (I assume he's the owner) and scheduled for the following day. The problem was that our Whirlpool dishwasher wasn't draining. No matter which wash cycle, it simply wouldn't drain. Bo came out, took off the face plate, fiddled with wires, took a voltage reading and stated we needed a new control board. Top of the line Whirlpool, only 15 months old, and working before he came (just not draining). But sure enough, the board was now unresponsive. He charges me $69 for diagnosis but assures me it will be deducted from final bill. Ok, I say. When can you get the part? He states he'll call his part place and let me know the price. In the meantime, I located the model number and checked Whirlpool's site. The control board was listed as $154 Bo calls the next day and let's me know his parts place found a control board in Dallas (?) for $180. His labor for install will be $130. I tell him Whirlpool sells it for $154, is the extra money for shipping? He says no, his parts place marks up for profit. When I protest and say I can order directly from Whirlpool, he tells me he cannot warrant work unless he provides the part. So at this juncture I can go with a known Whirlpool part and get Sears out (forfeiting the $69) or trust Bo. Four days later, he returns and replaces the board but the dishwasher still doesn't drain. He removes hoses, and the drain trap and then, miraculously it runs. The upshot? I'm sure readers can draw their own conclusions read more

My oven was leaking gas and I was without it for over a week because the gas company was dragging me along (they were responsible for the problem but wouldn't tell me if they were going to cover the fix). I called 3 other places first based on recommendations, but nobody was able to come to my home until the next week (which meant another 4 days without a stove/oven). I had resigned myself to hosting a party without an oven until I called Access Appliance Service. To my utter shock they not only had a technician who carried the proper gas meter to check for leaks, but he was able to be at my house in 30 minutes! Bo showed up on time and my husband (who was at home to receive him) was very happy with his experience. Bo took his time to make sure everything was done right and even told us how to make some small fixes to our oven and range to make it work better. I would probably give him 4.5 stars if I could because he wasn't immediately able to find where the gas line turned on/off and I had to call the gas company yet AGAIN, but I've decided our oven is stupid anyways. I called mid day on Tuesday, they said they could come that afternoon! Holy cow! I wasn't ready for that! So, I settled for the next day between 10a-12pm. My problems: gas cook top - 1 burner not lighting and dishwasher tipped when I opened the door and rolled out the dish tray inside. Bo arrived on time (around 11am) ... he checked out my gas cook top. Evidently, at some point, it must have fixed itself because there was no problem with it after all! Then he set his attention to the dishwasher. He showed me immediately what the problem was, how to fix it ... what to look for, what else I should think about. He set about making the fix and I continued on with my work (I was on a conference call with work). But then zip, zip, zip! he was done! He showed me what I did. He went back and checked the gas cook top again to make sure it was really working and it was. And he had a couple calls come through when he was working on my dishwasher and I have to say that I appreciated that he took the call outside. The cost for the trip and repair was very reasonable. Yes, it took less than 30 minutes but I have no doubt that this is the guy and company I would call again if I had an appliance issue. Bo is a nice guy ... very unassuming and very interested in making sure you see what the problem is and what he is doing to fix it. read more

We had a positive experience with Bo at Access Service Company. Bo was able to come out the same day to repair our five-year-old refrigerator. He determined that it needed a new mother board and replaced it. Unfortunately, this did not fix the problem. Bo then returned and determined that the compressor would need to be replaced. Unfortunately, it could take five weeks to get the part. Less than a week later, Bo called and asked if he could come back and try another motherboard in case the first one had been defective. I was impressed that he kept thinking about our repair and was trying to save us the hassle of being without a fridge for five weeks. He tried a new motherboard which also did not work. At that point, Bo told us that the problem was not the compressor, but some internal wiring that could not be replaced -- we would need to replace the refrigerator. While this was a disappointing outcome, I was impressed with Bo's perseverance and diligence in trying to make the repair. He refunded all but the initial service call and added casters for free to protect our floor while he was moving the fridge around. read more

I called Bo at Access after an abortive effort to get an LG authorized repair company to fix my busted fridge, which had leaked freon. He showed up half an hour early, took one look, agreed with the abortive guys' diagnosis (long story, see my review of KJ Appliances and More), but practically demanded that I call LG, as the sealed system is warranted for parts for seven years. I was willing to pay him the four hundred bucks he quoted just to get the thing working again, but as I said, he insisted I call LG. So I did, and immediately asked for a supervisor, explained the foul-up with their authorized company, explained that the independent repair company agreed with the dianosis (that would be Bo) and the upshot is LG is covering parts AND LABOR due to the uh, situation, with the original repair guys. So I have to pay Bo a service call charge. I'd pay twice if he asked (not really, Bo, in case you're reading this). As long as he's in the business of repairing appliances, and mine continue to break, I will call him. You should, too. read more

The technician I got from Access Appliance Service is definitely the worst I have ever seen!! My dishwasher was broken, so I hired Access Appliance Service to help me take a look. The technician they sent to me was a senior guy, seemed very nice. But he was clearly incompetent and had no idea what he was doing. First of all, he unscrewed all the screws holding the front plate in place, which only opened up a small gap on top. Then he complained the whole time he was here that the dishwasher is terribly designed to only leave him a small gap to work with. Until I walked over and gently lifted up the front plate, and the whole thing came off and opened up the work space. Now it comes to the worst part. This technician tried to open the control box (a plastic box holding all the electronics in) to diagnose the issue. He spent 15 minutes trying to crack open the box from the BACK with two SCREW DRIVERS!! After watching a while, I couldn't help to advice him to open the box from the correct side. He arrogantly denied to even exam the front of the box, until I had to take the box from his hands and open the box for him with a simple press of a button. Then he did it AGAIN on the wiring panel of the box, where he spent another 10 minutes trying to crack open the panel from the back with his two screw drivers; and again, I had to show him the top of the part and how to correctly remove the wiring panel without breaking anything. At this point, this technician is fully embarrassed and irritated, and he warned me to stay back and allow him to work. But given his bad attitude and incompetency. I believed this guy was only capable of doing more damage to my already broken dishwasher. So I had no choice except to pay him the service charge and asked him out of my house. read more

My 2002 Kenmore 24 inch gas built-in wall oven stopped working on Sunday before Thanksgiving 2019. I was pretty sure that it was a failed gas range oven ignitor, but I was unsure where to begin looking for repair services, given that Sears has closed. With a holiday week coming up, I was desperate. My daughter provided me with the names of five repair businesses from Angie's list and I was very fortunate that Access Appliance Services was one of them. When my LG washing machine started to have problems I called the Access Appliance Service based upon the reviews it was given. Boy am I glad I choose them to service my machine. Bo, the technician, came out the same day I placed my call. After looking at the problem he immediately knew that a certain part was needed and would have to order it. Once he found out how much the cost would be he checked with me first before ordering it. After giving him the okay he placed the order for the part and was at my house the very same day that the part arrived (which was only two days after he ordered it). Our 1-1/2 year-old LG front loading pedestal washer has been making a knocking sound when it spins. We called Access late Friday afternoon and they made an appointment to come Saturday morning, for no extra charge. Bo came and quickly ascertained the problem. Despite the fact that we had leveled the machine, there were certain places on the tile floor where the machine was unbalanced when it was spinning at high speeds. After checking it out, he said there was no actual problem with the machine and spent the time necessary to position the machine in the best location. While this didn't amount to a technical repair, we appreciate that he was honest about the situation and only charged us a minimal service charge. He was very knowledgeable, efficient and pleasant.
