So, full disclosure -- I never actually had to use their services -- but that's actually why I feel inclined to leave a super positive review. I called and spoke to Michael, I gave him a synopsis of my problem and he was able to tell me over the phone that he was 99% sure i needed a bearing which for the age of my unit was not a wise investment! He then proceeded to give me his thoughts on replacement units and why certain brands were better than others and how I could extend the life of our next washer and dryer even further. Seriously?!? How cool! He could've charged me for a service visit and given me the bad news in person after charging me $$$ -- but instead he was straight forward and honest -- and not only had nothing to gain, but something to lose in this case (a service visit!) These are the type of people I would want to do business with! Kudos and thanks for the help and honesty! read more

Made appointment for this morning, Patrick said he would be on his way and called me once he got to my complex. Ask for directions to my building number 10 but I just moved in I didn't have those specific directions it's not a very large complex. Told him I wasn't sure but it's building 10 and I go outside and look for him. The maintenance guy told me that he did come to the building and ask him for building 10. Patrick gave up and left and refused to answer my calls even after I texted him and told him I was outside looking for him. I waited two days for my appointment I really need my washer fixed. It was very unprofessional, and I'm very disappointed that he gave up so easily I called at least four times and he didn't answer my call read more

Mike was great. My 14 year old dryer was making a ton of noise. I called Mike after searching for reviews on yelp. He had an appointment available 3 days after I called. He was about 25 minutes early for our appointment. He got started taking the machine apart. As you can imagine the inside of the dryer had some lint in it. Mike took the time to pull out the lint by hand putting all the coins on top of the dryer. He asked me to come look at something and he found a small diamond that had come out of my husbands ring a few years ago. He found the source of the squeak and had the part in his car. He replaced it and was out the door for the price of his service fee and part. Total $130. I can't believe how reasonable his rates are for how good he is. I will be using him again. read more

Wow does this guy have an attitude! Very unpleasant to talk to and interact with. Not helpful. He said there's nothing wrong with our dishwasher yet it's still leaking. read more

The guy that came out didn't know what he was doing replaced my oven igniter but now it is leaking gas and has been for months.

I took off my Mother's Harvest Gold Whirlpool oven door to replace a difficult bulb that was not releasing. I couldn't get the door back on. Mike answered the phone, gave me a timeframe when he could come by and he came over same day. My fears were calmed, he was professional and handled my problem without any hesitancy or delay. I am recommending him to all my family and friends personally. read more

I've got an old house full of old crap... The good thing is that much of my old crap was well built. The original dishwasher install was not one of these things. Mike came in and installed a new to me dishwasher and went above and beyond. The dishwasher had a thick copper line with a large fitting that did was too large to work with and other things that were all wonky old house things. Mike had to come out, come back out, and make another run to the hardware store. He was very gracious on not charging me for the quirks this particular job presented. The new dishwasher is running better than the old one ever did. I'm a happy customer. read more

Mike Holmes came to my house, tinkered with the non-operating, 1975, puke green double oven for 10 minutes, looked up the part that needs to be replaced, told me the part hasn't been made since 04/2008, and bid me good day. That's it. What were you expecting? Did you think he was going to fuss around for an hour or two after already having identified the problem, and withhold that information from me? Did you think he was going to charge me for 30 minutes of his valuable time after seeing all of the ongoing work being done on my house? Did you think he was going to order a different part that wouldn't address the problem, come back to install it, then feign disbelief when it didn't work and work up a huge bill in the process? No. Mike Holmes is some kind of saint. He said I probably needed a break from bad news so he left without thinking about charging me. Yup. What a cool guy. read more

THIS MAN IS A GREAT CHRISTIAN MAN. I love the Lord and I know this man does also. He promptly called back when I left a message. Due to the fact his business has gotten sooooo big (Due to the all 5's on yelp and he is honest ... etc. etc.) he referred me to someone else that works on LG. Honestly he said that he has stayed with the main stream appliances as he has been blessed with a great business and he had to draw lines. HE REFERRED ME TO APPLE APPLIANCE. Called them and Partick (again as Mike the owner) answered the phone himself. I ran the problems by him ... I have the serial no., etc. co he asked If I could text to him this info. IF HE HAS THE PARTS he will b out tomorrow to ck the appliances out ... and yes honest also. A MIRICLE in the making. God has blessed these two men with ethics that cannot be found in the world today. THANKS MIKE for being honest and for referring me to a fellow Christian. Occam's Razor. The easiest explanation is most likely the correct one. It is this principle that I should have fully explored when my dishwasher suddenly ceased function. With an eye to fix it myself, I poured over the internet for the make and model of mine and after a exhaustive search I found a culprit that accounted for the symptoms of a nonfunctional control board and no apparent power to the appliance - a burnt out thermal fuse. Unfortunately I couldn't verify this was the case when I cracked open the control board myself, and the part wasn't easily purchased. So with a heavy heart I decided I'd better call a professional to take a look, frustrated with my inability to discern the problem. I made an appointment with Mike for Saturday. He offered to come by an hour after his listed service times for the day since he was already booked up and arrived precisely when he said he would. Polite and professional, he went to work as soon as his toolkit was put down. And solved the riddle of the dishwasher in a good thirty seconds. Having never dealt with a dishwasher with a wall switch cut off, located conveniently next to the garbage disposal, it never even occurred to me that was the issue. I don't need to tell you how big of a jackass I felt at that moment. Undeterred, Mike politely declined any offer of payment and explained that it was actually a common occurrence in our neighborhood where builders favored that particular type of cut-off for the washer. In any event, he took extra time out of his weekend to not only easily solve the issue, but did so professionally and tactfully - especially considering the aforementioned jackassery I felt. In the future, when any of my household appliances decide to freak out, burnt out, explode in a shower of sparks, etc., I plan on calling Mike back immediately. read more

Mike was fantastic from start to finish. Showed up on time, clean, well dressed, and polite. Was straight up with me and figured out the problem, gave me quote including labor and taxes, and because I told him I was flexible, an appointment to return the next day with the part he would go pick up for my oven. He called me a few hours before his appointment and said he was ahead of schedule and would I mind if he came early! now that is a first! Waiting on service to arrive and them coming early, LOL I wish the cable companies would take notes from Mike. I was thrilled because there was something I was wanting to work on making that afternoon so he came and fixed it, charged me within a couple dollars (literally like, within $5 I think) of his quote and was out. I would highly recommend him to anyone and will keep this business bookmarked for as long as I live in Austin. read more

My electric dryer was running, but not drying. I took it apart in an attempt to diagnose, but wound up calling Mike. He came out and quickly diagnosed a problem with the 220 line coming into the dryer. He didn't charge me anything and even put together the parts of the dryer I had removed. I need an electrician to fix my circuit breaker, but at least I know what's wrong! read more

OMG! Use him! He was great! Nice man! I'd totally feel comfortable and safe sending him over to my elderly mother's house to do some work if needed! He was quick, did a great job, gave me a nice discount on the part - cheaper than I would have gotten had I ordered the gasket! Friendly! I totally recommend him and I'll use him in the future for sure! read more

I really appreciate the courtesy I was shown here. Mike wasn't able to service my dryer because it is a Samsung product, however he was extremely quick to return my voicemail and recommend someone for me. I'll be bookmarking him for future repairs of non-Samsung appliances. read more

Mike is fantastic! He's very professional and just a really good guy! This is the second time we've had him come out. The first time he was honest and forthright letting us know that it would be cheaper to replace our dryer than to fix it. He actually checked two dryers that we had and gave us this verdict and didn't charge us. I don't know about you but that said a lot to me about Mike's dedication and service! He came out today and replaced the igniter on our GE stove. (The stovetop was working but the oven wasn't) He was punctual to the minute and he even taught my wife a few features about the oven that we were not even aware of. Mike, single-handedly, saved our Thanksgiving! Now, we have one more thing to be thank ful for this year! Thanks Mike! My three kiddos are going to be very pleased. And Mike is the first person I will call for any and all future repairs. Way to go! I can see now why he gets 5 stars across the board! He even showed us an even easier way to clean the oven which we didn't know about by pulling the whole rack out. Could turn out to be the best Thanksgiving ever! Credit, where credit is due! read more

Best service ever. Mike is extremely knowledgeable and friendly. He tells it like it is, and provides you with ALL the options--even if it's better to fix something yourself or buy new. My over the stove microwave died and dishwasher died in the same week. I called up Mike and he scheduled an appointment that week to come out and take a look. I did my own research beforehand and pretty much determined that the magnetron was dead on the microwave, and the inlet value was dead for the dishwasher. When Mike came over, he checked out all aspects of the appliances, but came to the same conclusion. The inlet valve was easy enough for me to fix, but I wanted help with the microwave. He came by a second time once the magnetron was delivered and he fixed the microwave. However, he saw the condition of some of the other parts in the microwave and didn't think the unit would last. He said if it died in the near future, to give him a call back and we'll work out a new solution and work out the payment as well. Sure enough, after 2 days, the microwave died again. I decided to buy a new unit. Mike came back, helped install the new unit, and worked with me on the payment so I wasn't double charged. Mike's a great example of knowing about customer service. He is clear on expectations, and works with the customer to make sure the repair is done right, comes back if it's not right, and works out to have a fair payment. SUPER RECOMMENDED!! read more

This review is for Mike Holmes of Expert Appliance Repair. Mike just helped us fix a dishwasher and a refrigerator issue w/ our ice maker, and I have to say that I am completely blown away by how terrific this guy is. Seriously best service ever. He is honest, hard working, and very methodical in his approach so he really finds the root of the problem and isn't just randomly fixing things and charging you for repairs that might not even work. I love the fact that on his first visit, he just looked to see if simple things like changing a water filter for the fridge (which I'd neglected to do for 5 years!), or cleaning out the mini-disposal for the dishwasher would fix the problems... and he didn't even charge me for it! He only charged me anything after he actually did a repair, and even then, the price was more than reasonable. To top it all off, he's super nice and easy to talk to as well! You may be thinking -- how can any one get this many 5 star reviews.... believe the hype. Mike is terrific. read more

I was put in touch with Mike Holmes through my home warranty (Home Warranty of America) after the electrical buttons on my washer stopped working. I thought it would be at least a couple of days before he could come by and check things out, but I was able to set up an appointment with him the very next day. He arrived promptly and was very courteous and got straight to work. He was able to determine that the electrical system needed to be replaced so he ordered the part and got in touch with me as soon as it arrived. He came back today, was done replacing the part in probably less than 30 minutes, and had me start a load just to make sure everything worked correctly. I definitely recommend Mike - his prices are reasonable, he's professional and he's normal. Also, I was a little flaky scheduling the followup visit to install the new part, but he seemed cool about it and was able to squeeze me in at 5pm on a Monday - not bad! read more

Great service. I recommend him without a doubt! My washer is fixed! Another company/repair man was scheduled to fix my washer but they never showed up. So, I needed last minute service and Mike was able to come through! He was very friendly, respectful and flexible. He explained the issue and gave a clear break down of cost. Price was very reasonable. He's cash or check only, so that's something to be aware of. He happened to have the part needed on him, and was able to fix the issue very quickly. I hope I don't need unexpected repairs but if I do, I will definitely give him a call back!! read more

Mike came out to my house to fix our refrigerator because it wouldn't cool. When i called he said he could come out same day, but my schedule didn't allow for it so he came out on Sat. morn when i was available. He showed up about 5 minutes early and introduced himself. He was friendly, funny, and got straight to work. In 20 minutes he had the problem diagnosed (which was exactly what he guessed on the phone). He called the parts store and left to go get the part so he could fix the fridge the same day. His service was excellent. His demeanor was excellent. He explained the part, what it did, roughly how much it would cost and the pros and cons of new vs repaired. He even asked permission to leave his tools where they were so that he could get right back to work when he returned. This is service you don't get unless your lucky these days. I highly recommend him and will use him in the future for any appliance repair needs i have. read more

Now I know why all the reviews here are 5 stars. Mike returned my call within the hour about fixing our washing machine. The seal on our front loader was torn and water was leaking from the door. He was able to come out the next day with the part and fixed the machine in about 45 minutes. Friendly, on time, helpful...what more could you want in a repair person. Only improvement would be if he took credit cards instead of cash/check. If food trailers can use Square, why not appliance repair businesses : ) read more

Mike Holmes is a really nice guy. My old dryer - purchased for $50 on Craigslist - developed a voracious appetite for socks, unmentionables, and other small items. The drum seal had worn out, and the gap between drum and dryer body had consumed a reasonably large portion of my wardrobe. Fire hazard? That's a whole nother issue. I called Mike based on Yelp reviews. He made an appointment for a specific time, and was punctual to the minute - no waiting around half a day, here. He showed me exactly what was wrong. He priced parts from his suppliers here in town and found them a little high, based on what I'd paid for the dryer. So he recommended me ordering parts from Amazon instead, where he thought (rightly) I'd be able to find them quite a bit cheaper. Mike offered to charge me half his labor fee that day (he reset the dryer drum so the gap was at the top and wouldn't eat so many socks), and the rest when the parts came in and he could come out to install them. Me being the kind of person I am, it took me about five months to get around to doing this - it wasn't urgent to me, since he'd gotten the dryer working at least. Finally, when I got around to it, he still remembered and honored the deal, and showed up every bit as punctually as he had the first time. Now my dryer dries much better and faster than it did when I bought it in the first place. So I recommend Expert Appliance Repair highly, and would only ask that you try to get something expensive to go wrong before you call him, because he didn't make much money off my job. read more

Gave me a call back and apologized for the wait even though it'd only been a couple hours since I left a message. Instantly knew what my problem was even though I did a poor job of explaining it. Advised me that it wouldn't be worth it to repair and to just get a new washer. Not exactly the news I wanted to hear, but always nice to hear a guy give you good advice for free. read more

If only everything in life could be this easy! If your appliance needs repair, call Mike Holmes. Period!! He must fix appliances because he enjoys it because he's too reasonable to get rich from it. I found him thanks to your Yelp reviews and he came out (arrived early--unheard of!) and fixed my squeaky 20 year-old dryer. (While he was in there he patiently cleaned out 20 years worth of fuzz & such.) It's now working like a charm. I also have a brand new dishwasher and after 2 visits from the installer and 1 from the factory authorized folks, it wouldn't start. Turned out it wasn't installed correctly and was turning itself off when you closed the door. Within minutes Mike explained the problem, lowered & leveled it, replaced the screws that had fallen out and started it up. I couldn't be happier and can't say enough about this man--he's very accomplished, a very thoughtful and pleasant person, does just what he says he will, and his rates are very reasonable. I'm telling everyone I know about him. He said he doesn't do hot water heaters and heat/air conditioning and he takes cash & checks. read more

Wonderful service! Mike arrived right on time & found the problem immediately. He had the part on hand & did the repair in less than half an hour! On the phone, I was told the problem may be one of a few things, with a price quote for each. The actual price was the same as what was quoted & he fixed what actually needed to be fixed. And there's a 1 year warranty included! Great, honest, fast service & he was very polite & respectful! read more

Called at 2:00pm to see if he could come and look at my dryer to see why it wasn't heating up. Patrick came out at 3:30pm and told me it was the heating element and had the part in his truck. Replaced it and was on his way in less than 30 minutes! Now thats what I call fast service! read more

Mike was very professional and punctual when he came to repair our oven. He showed me what he was doing and why, and the cost was exactly what he said it was going to be. I appreciated him showing me what he was doing and what a quick, efficient job he did, despite the fact that his phone was ringing the whole time. (Probably due to all his 5-star ratings, and deservedly so!) I will definitely call him back for any other appliance repairs we have. read more

Professional, prepared, timely, and reasonably priced. We had purchased the parts needed to do the repair, but quickly realized this "simple fix" needed an expert touch. Mike arrived on time and completed the repair swiftly, was pleasant and tidy. All his work has a 1 year warranty. If you get the parts through him, the warranty applies to those parts as well. (We will probably go that route in the future) In addition Mike was extremely helpful and generous with providing a professional assessment on another appliance. read more

I never have to think twice about who to call now. Mike is professional, courteous and honest. I called him for my dishwasher but I would call him for any appliance repair. I was so tired of calling people to come out, they would either not show when they said they would or increased the job price when they see where you live and assumed I have a money tree somewhere. read more

Mike has been doing this for quite awhile, and he'll tell you what's going on directly with no sales pitch or pressure. He doesn't make extra 'surprise' repairs without your consent and he lets you know up front what the cost would be for any additional repairs if needed. Basically, he fixes what needs fixing and does a great job at it. He came out today because I smelled gas coming from the stove from time to time. It turned out there was a slow leak, which he fixed within an hour's time and charged a pretty fair fee. I am giving him a call in a week or so to replace the damaged ignition on the stove burners as well since they are cracked and won't light the gas properly. It seems like it'd be cheaper than buying a new stove, anyway. He was able to get me a quote for the parts and labor very quickly. Thanks! read more

Mike is fantastic! He came over yesterday, after I had to reschedule our first appointment, and checked out my washer and decided the problem was the pump. He ordered a pump to bring back today. However, he told me to run the washer a few times between then and when he came out today to make sure I still hear the noise because he wanted to make sure. He came over today with the pump, and spent some time making sure that was or wasn't the problem as the sound that was coming from the washer was inconsistent. After about fifteen minutes he tells me he may have good news, but he wanted to make sure it was the case. A few minutes later, the problem is fixed and I'm embarrassed to tell you what it was because it was so simple, yet not something I would have ever guessed. He saved us the entire new pump repair by being kind enough to take the extra time to make sure it was what it was. In addition, scheduling with Mike was easy, prompt, quick, and he even kept making sure he didn't need to go right away when I scheduled the time yesterday a little too close to a time I had to leave. We gave him some chocolate chip cookies today and thanked him again, with my nine year old son saying, "He is the best!" after he left. Oh, and I found him thanks to all you wonderful Yelpers! read more

I called Mike to fix my broken old school Kenmore washer, and he was there right on time, the very same day. Mike knew exactly what the problem was, had the part in his truck, and stuck to the quote that he had given me over the phone. He was fun to talk to, and very knowledgeable about appliances, old and new. He fixed my washer quickly, never wasted a second, talked me through cleaning out my dryer vent (for no charge got my dryer back on track), and gave me some sound advice on choosing washers. Mike even painstakingly took calls while the washer was taken apart and threatening to crush him. When I asked why he took a call with the disassembled washer leaning against him and a part in one hand and a screw driver in the other, he replied that one time, he missed a guy's call and then was unable to get in touch with him that day, and in return he got a bad yelp review. So now he risks life and limb to get to that phone to make sure he doesn't miss any calls. Wow! I urge you to please remember that Mike is only one person, is busy working all day everyday and answering calls himself, and only has two hands (because he is human) and be realistic with your expectations. He is sure to exceed them. I won't ever call anyone else to fix my appliances. Thanks Mike! read more

I have to echo the other reviews regarding Mike - he's amazing! He's fast, efficient, price-conscious, & goes the extra mile to make sure the problem is solved & his customers are satisfied. He educated me on exactly what was wrong the my washer, showed me the broken pieces, told me how long it would take him to get the part, ran to get the part, & was still done in ~an hour. He shows up when he says he'll show up, does exactly what he says he'll do, & educates the consumer on the appliance. He took a look at another appliance for me, & like another user, I was very happy to find out both my old washer & dryer should have years left in them. I would recommend his service to everyone. Highly, highly recommended - thanks, Mike! read more

Took a completely random stab after a quick scan of reviews here; saw this one was close where I live, so figured why not; at least likely to show up at some point (not always certain)... As it turns out, I discover that I somehow have the bizarrely good luck to come across The Greatest Old-School Repairman In The Entire World!!!!! :-D ...Okay so maybe that's a little hyperbolic - but not much! Showed up EXACTLY when he'd said - like to the SECOND - had it diagnosed in under a minute; declined to charge his normal rate because the job'd been "too easy" - even tho he'd had to go and grab the part from the supply place. Whole thing turnkey was no more than like an hour, tops - and cost approximately Nothing in comparison to what I'd worried it might be (and would've been, were Fox still doing appliances). Filled me in on when to draw the line between continuing repairing my now-absurdly-old clothes dryer vs. buying a new one - even took a moment to have liberated all the coins that'd been trapped in the tumblers for around probably a decade; didn't want to walk away and leave them there still rattling around :-) Anyway: My more selfish lesser-angels almost hesitated to give this review - out of concern next time I need him I might not be so lucky to have called when he's just randomly available that day :-D But, there isn't any gift that isn't better when it's shared - and so figured I owe it to somebody else to offer what the other reviewers here had offered me. So if you're out there right now in the state that I was in this morning (completely stymied; groping blindly for an answer to a sudden / stupid / probably expensive Major Problem that you didn't need right now): Stop Looking - Call Mr. Holmes - take whatever timeslot that he's got - and if it's not until tomorrow and you can wait, then let it wait. I promise you it's worth it to not only wind up with whatever your own crisis/panic is right now completely Handled, but to come away grinning to realize: "Hey, you know what? ...That actually worked out frigging Great!!" Thank You Mike! :-) :-) read more

Called for help with a Miele dishwasher due to all the great reviews. Unfortunately he doesn't work on Miele, but he told me who does (and they have a sucky reputation, which I knew already) and who might be able to help and has a good reputation. Mike is really good! His fee to check out our microwave was very reasonable, applied to the repair. He immediately diagnosed the problem and came back to install the part as soon as the part came in. As a small business owner, I understand what's important for customers. Expert Appliance Repair, Mike deserves a 5 stars reviews from me. I've been ripped off many times in America that makes me afraid of finding new company for a service. I am glad I found Mike to fix my washer. Professional, nice, and honest are really not words to describe Mike. All I want to say is, if you have broken appliances, you like to have good service, and don't like to be ripped off. Mike came in at the scheduled time to repair my microwave. He found that the main part (Magnetron) was damaged and also found out the cost of part from his sources. Meantime we found that the part should be covered under warranty (but not sure). He encouraged me to contact the company parts team to send the part, which the company did not agree for, instead the company insisted that their technician should inspect and declare the part dead and that they only need to replace (which is not free b.t.w.). Mike noted that it would be better for me to take that option cost wise (because I would get the part for free). He did not charge anything for his visit, and noted I could call him in case the other option did not work or found expensive. Finally got the company replace it with zero labour cost. ***** 5 stars for Mike's friendly attitude, honesty, and most importantly "Ethics". I'd blindly go to him for any appliance repair in future *****. read more
