Do NOT use Rain or Shine Repair! They were my American Home Shield vendor for a dryer service. They diagnosed the problems, one that could be covered and a couple of other that were not (which I understood). The report to AHS did not say that the covered part should be replaced, as the technician told, but that it was "noisy and still rotating." Because of the inaccurate description, AHS is disclaiming coverage. Just a scam for Rain to Shine to make me pay out of pocket and just a mouthpiece for AHS. Not an advocate for the customer. These guys have come in to fix the dishwasher and also microwave oven through American Home Shield. They attributed the problems to cockroaches, which disqualified the appliances from being repaired. Second opinion ordered through AHS with another vendor fixed the problems without any attribution to cockroaches. In fact, Rain or Shine suggested that they could come and fix the microwave for $235. I hired another vendor who charged me $155 and fixed the sensor. I would never recommend them to any one for appliance repair work as they an not ethical and are trying to rip off people. Dominic from Rain or Shine came out and was able to determine that my fridge was obtained second hand by previous owner without a full model number attached (original owner only had partial and confirmed he got it second hand after Dominic left). Rather than leave me with both the cost of a fruitless service call and getting a new fridge, Dominic was feeling generous towards me and waived the service call fee so that I could afford to put it towards the cost of a replacement fridge. Be sure to check that the full model number is easily found inside the fridge, otherwise there's nothing that can be done to replace parts. read more

Normally there is a wait before a vendor contacts you to make an appointment, but Rain or Shine contacted me within an hour or two and had Dominic at my house the same day. Better still, he did a wonderful job explaining the issue to me and had the part on his truck to fix it. In an hour the refrigerator was dismantled, thawed, repaired, and reassembled. Normally there is a wait before a vendor contacts you to make an appointment, but Rain or Shine contacted me within 30 minutes. Dominic came out at a time that was convenient to us, which was extremely timely. To my surprise (given our prior experience with other companies) he did a thorough job explaining the issues to me and stated he would order the parts (I was concerned about the availability due to the current supply chain disaster that has been set in place) but he told me they would keep us informed on the availability. In less than a week he came back to install the replacement parts and within 30 minutes the refrigerator was back in service. He even gave me some tips on how to keep the unit in service for a longer time (regarding the compressor & cleaning the coils frequently). Win-Win!!
